Description of Work: Called this roofer 3 times to get a quote for fixing a roof leak. Each time I called I was routed to voicemail and left a detailed message with my name, phone number and a description of the problem I am having. Each call / voicemail to them was spaced at least 48 hours apart so they had ample opportunity to return my call. They never called back. So they get an "F" rating from me.

 + 1 moreAcademy Roofing was terrific. It was a very elaborate job, including re-decking and asbestos removel. They came in under what the insurance company allowed, without even looking at the bid. They did a great job and even brought their own port-o-potty. In general the guys were courteous. They did a very nice job and we were happy. They were a little slow getting to us because they are so busy.

However, they were a little slow on getting back to me with answers to my questions, so I went with a different company who seemed a little more motivated to get my business. My understanding is that Academy is a little more geared to commercial rather than residential business.

 + 0 moreGreat personnel overall! From the office personnel, Jamie (sp), to Sales Rep. Cody and the repair technician. The only suggestion I would make is presenting the homeowner with a before and after photo of the task performed. We will definately be using them again for any future installation/roofing needs!
Description of Work: Removal and disposal of plumbing pipe flashing. Installation of new pipe flashing. Reattaching and sealing of shingles surrounding pipe flashings. Paint new pipe to closely match shingle color.

 + -1 moreMy house is over 100 years old and we deal with problems due to it's age as well as previous work which was done poorly or has worn out. We have had several leaks in the kitchen which had been problems for years causing ceiling stains and a weakened plaster ceiling which had to be replaced earlier. Academy sent a truck and 2 men to start work on the first day. They were on time, courteous, professional, knowledgeable and clean! Alejandro and his partner were absolutely first rate! If you didn't see the work they did, you wouldn't know they had been there. They even offered to paint the new shingles they had to install. The work took 2 days and we are completely satisfied. I'll be surprised if their work doesn't solve the problems. And if a leak persists, they will gladly be back out to take care of it!

 + -1 moreAcademy Roofing was very complete and professional for our roof replacement. The only advice I provided them was they should explain that they may take a little while longer than other companies, but the Academy crew is very safe (tied in), clean (picked up every day and prepared the roof in case it rained) and the end result is a more complete install, which is unlike companies that perform a roof replacement in one day. I have much more confidence about my roof than my neighbor's.
Description of Work: Replaced roof shingles and installed necessary plywood sheets.

 + -1 moreI contacted them through email and they responded later in the day, setting up an appointment for the following week. The salesperson who came out was very professional and the quote was in line with others I received. I got the impression that this was a really good company, and I would have hired them except that they work with EPDM flat roofs, and I decided to go with a PVC roof because it's reported to last longer. But I will definitely call this company again when I am ready to do the roof on the main house. In fact, the roof company that I ended up hiring said that they sometimes refer people to Academy when they can't fit the work into their schedule.
Description of Work: They gave me a quote on a new flat roof for my garage and breezeway.

 + -1 moreThey did an excellent job. They kept working until the job was done, even though it rained. They answered all of our questions, put things back together so that we couldn't even tell they had been taken apart, cleaned up the work site. When I questioned a couple of items on the bill, they investigated and made appropriate adjustments without any hassle. We ended up paying even a little less than the estimate. I couldn't even get other roofers to return my calls on this job, I guess because it was a small job and messy. I would happily use Academy Roofing again.
Description of Work: They replaced the flat roof on our front porch. The job was complicated, because there is a deck and railing on top of this roof. They had to dismantle the railing, pick up sections of the deck, remove the old roof, install the new roof, and then put it all back together again.

 + -1 moreI believe Academy would have performed a fine job but we felt another company was more responsive and a little less expensive so we went with a competitor. The other company also spent considerable time educating me at a time which was more convenient for me. The sales rep at Academy, Jeremy, was certainly professional and when he was able to meet up to make the estimate (his first availability was 5 days after my first contact) was patient and knowledgeable.
Description of Work: Gave an estimate, met in person to talk over the details.

Every person from their company that I dealt with was very professional and helpful. The workers that came out were very professional. Its clear that they were careful to do a good job both removing the old roof and installing the new roof.
Description of Work: Replacement of all roof shingles with new asphalt 50yr shingles. Installed ridge and eave vents. Removed old "turtle" style vents and patched holes in underlayment. Installed two bathroom vent exhausts.

 + 0 moreOverall a great experience, but chase them up to make sure all is completed to your satisfaction.
Description of Work: I hired Academy Roofing to replace the roof on my home, garage and replace all guttering on both. They arrived early on day one and got to work straight away! They ripped off the old roof (severly hail damaged) and really got down to business. Three days and the job was done! They did a really good job, but I do have a few complaints, I'm still finding pieces of the old roof and nails in my front yard and in the back yard. I have a magnet that I'm using to find all the shrapnel. I would also add that they had to come back a couple of times to clear up debris removed from the old roof - RF antenna and satellite dish that were removed, no longer needed and I had made arrangements that Academy would dispose of these, they were left in the yard. There was some damage to the back fence, which they eventually repaired and the insulation tiling in the garage started to fall loose with all the hammering in replacing the roof. They eventually repaired this too. All in all, with a little chasing them up to fix things, a job well done.

 + -1 moreWhen their quote came in quite a bit lower than what the insurance company estimated the damage to be, they took a look at the adjuster's worksheet to make sure we covered all the bases and said they could actually upgrade my shingle to a better quality one that now gets me a discount on my homeowners insurance. They were good about following up on the quote, what paperwork needed to be done, sending me color samples, and keeping me updated on scheduling. They showed up when they said they would be there, and finished in less than 3 days I think. Only drawback is all the roofing nails I'm finding around my yard still, but I don't have another experience to compare that to.

They use their regular staff of very professional workers. They did everything right, from harnessing themselves in to using gutter stops to prevent nails from falling in. They swept out our garage when they were done, and their customer service is exemplary. We were very happy and would use them again.

 + -1 moreThey were excellent throughout the process from the bid through the finished roof. On the bid they listed choices and prices for each type of roofing material and warranty periods. The office staff and the job boss were helpful and easy to contact, returning calls promptly. It was a messy and difficult job as the materials had to be hand carried to and from the site across the yard. Every day the site was cleaned up and the workers were careful of my extensive plantings around the house. The roof looks very nice as do the gutters and downspouts. When there was an issue about my satellite dish, which was not replaced exactly where it should be, the job boss told me to subtract the reset cost from the bill. I was extremely satisfied by the whole experience.
Description of Work: Tore off old roof (3 layers)and replaced with plywood and asphalt shingles. replaced all gutters and downspouts.
