Aames Radon

I was very pleased with the work that Clarke did. He showed up on time and even helped me remove a heavy water filtration system that the previous owners had installed. My house is a tri-level and so the basement is 80% finished but also has a crawl space where the furnace is located. He put down heavy plastic in the crawl space and put a suction below the slap for the finished section of the basement. He worked pretty much straight through from 8 to 1. When he left he showed me how the system worked and how to read the meter which shows if the fan is pulling air or not. He also gave us a radon test kit to use to ensure the level was below the EPA accepted level. I can't recommend him enough. He does the job all by himself and so you're not waiting on multiple contractors or paying extra because multiple people are working on the job. The path he decided to use goes up the interior wall of our garage and out through the roof. Other radon contractors I talked with wanted to charge a lot more and add the pipe to the outside of the house which is not ideal because it looks bad and you can hear the fan. I wish everyone that came to the house to do work was as competent and professional as Clarke. He's done something like 2,000 installations and so he knows what he's doing! I couldn't be more pleased with his work which even comes with a guarantee to get the level below the EPA standard.

Clarke is the business owner and system installer. He was very pleasant to work with. A coworker recommended Aames Radon after Clarke installed a system in their house. They were impressed with the quality of work and the cost when compared to other companies. Before calling Aames Radon, I contacted a couple other companies. Aames Radon had the best price and a recommendation, so he won the work. Before installing the system, Clarke made one visit to our house to provide a more detailed estimate and a plan for the installation. After that, we scheduled an installation date with a start time of 8:00 AM. Clarke arrived about 20 minutes early, which made me happy because I could get on with my day. For the installation, about a 4" diameter hole was drilled through our concrete foundation wall. A pipe was run from the exterior into a closet in the basement. A tee joint sent one pipe through a wall into our crawl space and another through the basement concrete slab floor. The crawl space was covered in a plastic which was sealed to the walls. The fan on the outside of the house pulls air from below the slab floor and the crawl space. Clarke painted the pipe and downspout on the outside of our house. He used some leftover paint we had in the garage so the pipe matches our house color. The painted pipe and downspout look really nice (for a radon system). See the pictures on their website for examples. All holes drilled in our house were sealed with caulking to prevent moisture or insects from entering. I think Clarke did a high quality job. The system definitely looks like professional work. I recommend calling Aames Radon to get an estimate and would hire him again. This system was actually installed on the house we are selling. Our new house was radon tested at only 5.1. If I decide to have a system installed there, I'll give Clarke a call.
