The Doorman

I have an older home (built 1910) and wanted new doors. Because of the age of my home, all the measurements are non-standard. I went to Home Depot and Lowes and was told none of the manufacturers they dealt with made anything in the sizes I needed. I found Bill's ad "The Doorman" in the back of a local North Denver paper. I contacted him. He came out, measured and suggested manufacturers who do make doors in the sizes I needed. We went over the pros and cons of various styles and materials. He ordered them, and when they arrived, installed them. He cut new trim and reparied the plaster around the door opening. We agreed that I would do the final staining and painting at the end. During the install some minor structural issues became apparent and he handled them to my satisfaction. In short, the doors look good, fit and seal well, and I am a happy camper. He is a one-man operation so the job may take a little longer but you get a single person's focus and attention in exchange. Although he specializes in doors, he also did a small unrelated carpentry job that turned out fine too. My only gripe, and I am admittedly persnickity about this, is he could have cleaned a little more thoroughly when done. Otherwise, all was good. I would use him again and probably will.
