Rick is an excellent carpenter. Stairs are among the most difficult aspect of carpentry and he knows stairs very well. Rick has an insane work ethic. He worked on 7/4 and the weekends, I felt awful he was working but he said he was behind and had to catch up. The stairs turned out real nice. Rick routed the nosing on site, it was interesting to watch him work. Now where's where it went downhill and why I can't give an A, the staining. He has his son in laws do the staining and pay them directly. I figured they most be excellent at it, working with Rick and it wasn't cheap at $750. So they show up and don't do hardly any prep work (e.g. sanding, filling nail holes, removing dust debris from wood). Then they proceed to slap on the stain. They ignored the instructions which explicitly state not to let the stain sit on the wood for more than 15 minutes. I came back and the stain was still on the post (it had been at least 45 minutes!!!). Consequently the post is much darker than the stairs and other post. They didn't event wipe the stain off evenly so there are some visible areas where it's darker and looks funny. The next day they proceeded to apply the poly coat. The really rushed this too, not waiting long enough between coats for drying, so the finish isn't smooth. One of the guys was better than the other, but unfortunately he didn't do the upstairs, which we use the most. Overall I feel like my stairs were ruined. They could have been so nice but instead I got a careless and shoddy stain job. And staining can't just be redone. You're talking about lots and lots of labor sanding to redo, so $$$. Bottom line I would use Rick again but I wouldn't let his stain guys anywhere near my house.

Very professional. Very compassionate, they didn't want to take advantage of you. They did what they said they would, were very punctual and completed in estimated time frame. Job and price were excellent! I would highly recommend them!

He said he was going to have to come back and measure again. He was completely unresponsive after he took the initial measurements. I have called multiple times and he has never responded.
Description of Work: He came to take some measurements to build a wood staircase. That part went fine. He said he would come back later to complete the job.

I met the provider at my rental and he told me he would be in touch with me with an estimate. I called him 3 days in a row and he told me he was still waiting on someone for an estimate. The next time I called, he never called me back. A total waste of my time.

Rick does amazing job! Superior attention to detail, no cutting corners anywhere. He is definitely a master carpenter and proud of his projects. The only small complaint we might have is that, as is the case with all the contractors, work seems to take longer than originally estimated. In the end though, the staircase looks gorgeous and we are very happy we chose MB Woodworking for this project.

Rick Mosier was very detailed in his estimate and the time he spent here going over how, why and where new iron balustrades would go, what the railings and newel posts would look like and how long it would take. We were concerned with how the riser would look since it was a wider than most so Rick took the time to have two boards seamlessly crafted together and you can't even tell it's not one board! Rick did the work himself and his craftsmanship is incredible. Although we have other work to do in the house, the stairs are wonderful. Friends and neighbors have raved about the stairs and I never hesitate to recommend MB Woodworking. Rick was always on time, professional, and took the time to make sure that his work was confined to his area only. He specified the time it would take to complete the project was done within that timeframe. He was awesome to work with.
Description of Work: After obtaining several competitive bids, we chose the bid from Rick Mosier at MB Woodworking. We went from an open staircase to a closed one with new iron balustrades, railings and newel posts. We learned that just replacing the staircase wasn't as simple as we thought and Rick helped us to understand the many nuances of materials, angles, and tread pitch. He was great to work with and the stairs look stunning.

Initially, I purchased materials for do it yourself stair railing replacement. Rick was very helpful and responsive to my inquiry. He was very willing to share his knowledge with carpenter who was going to install the railing. Due to schedule conflict the carpenter was unable to install the railing and when Rick delivered the materials he gave me an estimate, which was very competitive. I called him back and we scheduled the installation. Rick did a beautiful job and I am very happy with the new stair railing. I highly recommend this company.

If you are remodeling your staircase you owe it to yourself to talk to Rick. Rick was very meticulous and treated our job as if it were his own home. He even re-did some work he had completed just because he did not like the way it turned out. (I would not have noticed).
Description of Work: Rick completely tore out our builder-grade staircase and replaced it with a tremendous cherry and wrought-iron one.
