 + 0 moreI called Kevin when I received a phone call from my tenants about a leaking hot water heater. Kevin and I spoke over the phone, and he agreed to go check out the heater the same day. He was great about fitting me in the same day I called. He called me after he looked at the water heater and let me know that I needed to replace it. Fortunately, the water heater was under warranty. Kevin picked up the new water heater, replaced the broken one, and returned the broken one (which was under warranty) to the shop for the refund. He was flexible and charged a fair price. My only complaint was that his communication on his arrival time on the day of the install was not great. Initially, he told me and my tenant he would meet them at the house at noon. Then, when his morning appointment ran late, he called the tenant to reschedule for much later in the day. This caused a bit of confusion, but in the end, the work was completed. Please note Kevin ONLY accepts checks or cash and no credit. Overall, he did a great job. I would use him again.
Description of Work: Service call to look at leaky hot water heater. Once we determined the heater needed to be replaced, Kevin picked up a new heater, installed it, and returned the old heater still under warranty.

Description of Work: This guy is awesome. If you need a large appliance fixed, you are nuts if you don't call this guy! My fridge died over night. I emailed him late on Sunday afternoon. A couple of hours later he calls me. He takes some basic troubleshooting information over the phone. In the process of doing that, he suggests a likely problem and a way I could fix it myself. I did that and it works great! Talk about honesty. Even though he did not ask for it, I am sending him a check (and not for $1!) to cover his time and for his absolutely fantastic service. Now who else would have provided service like that! (And no, it was not as easy as cleaning the coils!!!)

 + -1 moreKevin responded within an 1.5 hours of my call for help late in the day. He fixed the refrigerator and freezer as described above. All of this for only $108.00. Great service at a great price. I will use him in the future for my other appliance repair work!
Description of Work: He thawed out my freezer that was icing up to include the coils and drain that was causing the problem. The refrigerator was no longer getting cold and he fixed that as well.

 + -1 moreMy dryer wouldn't stay on and was overheating. Kevin came out on Monday and diagnosed the problem. He ordered the part and came back to fix it on Wed. He would have come back the next day, but I was busy. He was prompt, friendly and competent and I will certainly call him again the next time I have a problem with an appliance.

He showed me all throughout the repair what he was finding in my machine, what part was the problem, why it was causing problems, etc. -- all while conversing on a variety of topics, including hydrogen power, which Kevin is a passionate advocate of. (When you see the first wave of hydrogen cars on the road, Kevin will be driving one.) My washer was fixed and continues to work great.

 + -1 moreWe could not be happier with Kevin. He was punctual and thorough. We appreciated his suggestions to add a filter and replace the copper. He gave us very thorough explanations about what he was doing, what we needed to watch out for after he left, and the schedule for replacing the filter that he installed. He wouldn't take any money from us until the job was entirely completed, and while it seems like a steep cost for "just" an icemaker, it seems a fair price to us and we have peace of mind knowing the work was done right and that Kevin will stand behind it.
Description of Work: The icemaker in our GE Profile refrigerator never worked properly: it often failed to make ice and even when it did the ice on the bottom would end up a single solid mess. Based on his stellar reviews on Angie's List, we called Kevin. He was able to come over the next day at a time convenient to us. He inspected the refrigerator, said we needed a new icemaker, and went to research price and availability. He called us back promptly with the total cost and schedule. We accepted, so he ordered the part. The part arrived within the time expected and Kevin called to make an appointment to install it. He also suggested that we install a filter for the water line and that we replace the copper line with plastic because plastic will better survive repeated flexing. We accepted both of his suggestions. Now we have ice, and he fixed the water leak that caused the ice on the bottom to congeal. We also asked him about maintaining the air conditioning system because we had just read an article that said these systems need to be maintained regularly. He said that our two-year old system just needed to be hosed off, which he did.

He arrived promptly as promised, very quickly diagnosed the problem, replaced the part and we engaged in a bit of pleasant conversation before he left. He arrived the next morning and trouble-shooted my issues -- coming to the conclusion that neither of my issues were fixable probelms, but gave me a few workarounds. I would definitely have Kevin back to do other repairs at my house.

 + -1 moreThis is the third time in the last year that Kevin helped me -- first a refrigerator, then a dryer and finally a washer which was found to have a bad cord. On this last occasion he charged me only for a service call. Previously, charges were higher because parts had to be replaced, but the overall bill in each occasion was under $150. He has come within 24 hours of my call -- in the first two instances within a few hours. I found him to be honest, and very pleasant to work with.
Description of Work: My washer stopped running, and Kevin found that the power cord was defective and if it was twisted slightly in one direction, it would stop the washer. I couldn't figure it out, but it took him about 10 minutes to work it out.

Refrigerator was commercial unit installed in a residential home with mechanically elements on top of refrigerator. Built in model was hard to get at, which gave Kevin some trouble. He was not familiar with my model of appliance, which I believe lead to longer repair time and higher total price for hourly charge.

He took the time to help me get a better understanding on how all of the components work so that in the end I could decide if it was something that was really worth fixing; or invest in purchasing a new refrigerator. When he arrived at my house, there was a high-level of professionalism I could immediately feel and based on my intuition he was a very personable kind of person that really understood what I wanted to accomplish in getting the ice maker working again. He took his time and did his job well from start to finish. Not to mention, he is very knowledgeable on all mechanical things and a master of his craft! I would strongly recommend anyone to call his business when a major appliance breaks down. He understands the value of your needs, time, and money!
Description of Work: Kevin did a thorough job at diagnosing what was causing my ice maker to not work and leak at the back of my refrigerator. He cleaned my entire fridge by disassembling all the pieces of where cold and ice are prevalent as well as cleaned out my filters from debris and particulates that accumulated over the years.

 + -1 moreI had a piece break off my refrigerator door so it wouldn't close quickly or tightly. Kevin examined the door, tried to find the part but determined it was no longer available. He got me a part which he could modify to solve the problem. All this took 3 trips to the house but he was most willing to help me and was very conservative in his charges. He is also going to continue to try to find the exact part for me and I have no doubt that he will keep his word. I will definitely use him again for appliance repairs.

 + -1 moreHaving had a previously wonderful experience with Kevin (as reported a year or so ago), when the ice maker on my fifteen year old refrigerator stopped working, I called Kevin. He was at my house with two hours and quickly diagnosed the problem. After changing out the part, everything seemed to be working and he left. Several hours later it appeared all was not working and by telephone he led me through several other possible fixes. When these failed as well, he made a second trip to my house without charge, removed the ice maker, checked out the wiring, pleaded or threatened it with replacement and replaced it. Within hours we were happily having our afternoon iced coffee.
Description of Work: Kevin replaced the ice make water supply valve on a fifteen year old refrigerator.

 + -1 moreCalled Kevin Sealman first thing Monday morning. He answered the phone himself. Offered to come out same day. Luckily we had another refrigerator so it wasn't an emergency. Came out next morning right on time. Thought the problem was all the dust around the cooling unit. Cleaned it all out. Things seemed to be working. I called 2 hours later when the freezer wasn't getting cold. Came back and reinspected things. Compressor kicked on. Next morning the ice was melted again. Came out a third time and replaced circuit board. No problems since. Only charged us for 1 of the 3 service calls. Otherwise just parts and labor. Very pleasant, knowledgeable and efficient. Would highly recommend for any appliance repair.
