J & G Tile

Not only was Jim able to fit me in on my timeframe, he did an amazing job. His work is beautiful and he provides helpful advise on the project. He was personable and professional, but his work really stands alone. The tile work is amazing and I am really happy with all the work in my bathroom. He works extremely well with his coworker Greg who was friendly, personable and extremely clean. My home was cleaner when they left than it was when they started! Not only would I hire them again, I actually have for another project, but I have to wait my turn.

It went great! Great work at a great price. Lots of experience and wonderful advice! Always on schedule and a great communicator. Jimmy did three bathrooms for me and each one is a masterpiece! Would not hire anyone else!

Jimmy spent a lot of time explaining, recommending and pricing before the work even began. He showed up on time, worked hard and is a true artist! I couldn't be happier with the three large projects!

James is extremely busy but somehow finds time to come out to look at your project. Don't expect an estimate, however, even though he gives a quick sales pitch, seems sincere and says you'll have one within a week. More likely than not, you'll never hear from him again, even after he wasted hours discussing your project with you. If you can believe the reviews here (and I'm now somewhat skeptical), it sounds like he does good work, but odds are high that you'll never know. He'll get you interested and then fall off the face of the earth. A true waste of time.

As you can imaging a project of this size had many twists and turns and Jimmy was extremely flexible and accommodating with solving the challenges presented in delivering an end product without compromise. The end product is absolutely stunning. What makes me even happier however, is that I know that all of the work under the surface is without compromise. This included, based on an certified structural engineering design, the removal of 2 supporting I-Beams and correct reinforcement of the sub structure to support a dropped shower pan / walk in shower. I work from home and had the opportunity to collaborate with Jimmy, our engineer and the installation was done beyond specification to ensure no issues crop up in the future. Furthermore Jimmy was one of the few contractors who was comfortable and experienced working with Schluter waterproofing products. I was instant that the new shower was built and waterproofed to steam shower standards using modern and proven materials and the Schluter system was not negotiable. Jimmy went several steps further to ensure the entire bath, not just the shower, was waterproofed correctly to ensure there would never be any issues with sub-floor rot due to water penetration for any reason. this included the integration of a heated floor system. Jimmy also took great care an attention with a difficult installation of a 1,600 lb, 10’ long custom hardwood & concrete vanity that was commissioned for the project. The project took a little longer than anticipated due to the complexities but as I mentioned before the end product was above and beyond expectations. WOW!!! It is beautiful! I had trouble finding someone who would take on the challenge as the house is so old and the bathroom quite tiny. Jimmy came in and was actually excited to do it!!! He has a beautiful presence and is incredibly professional. I appreciated his upfront attitude and frankness. He was honest and straight word. He gave me a very detailed estimate that spanned from absolutely worst case scenario to best case scenario as we didn't really know what we were working with until he had the walls opened up. We decided that since our house is also tiny it would be best for Jimmy to work while we were away on a trip. I felt absolutely safe with him and his team, Greg & Ryan, in my home. He set up his huge wet tile saw in my living room and went to town. I received pictures and texts throughout the process and if I ever had a question he was prompt in responding. He left nothing to chance and double and triple secured everything so the bathroom would be sound for decades to come. When he finished he cleaned so thoroughly that you would have never known his huge tile saw was spitting out dust and such for two weeks. We now have a bathroom that looks and feels like a spa! In short, Jimmy, Ryan, and Greg are amazing!!!! Book with them now. What a fantastic job!! Jimmy beautifully installed a backsplash to my specifications. He was extremely responsive, considerate and talented. I would HIGHLY recommend Jimmy and his company to anyone that has a desire to have a project done beautifully the first time. What a nice person and very fair.

Jimmy is a genius. Pure and simple, if you are lucky enough to hire him, then you are blessed! I had gone through the heartbreaking process of having to have mold remediation done for a house I had only owned about 2.5 years. The previous owners somehow didn't have a proper shower pan installed; a curb was added after the fact and was never waterproofed, so lo and behold water was seeping in my crawlspace and mold was growing. I was devastated and torn on how to repair. I interviewed NUMEROUS contractors and everybody had different opinions of how to remedy the situation. I was so torn, as I am NOT an expert in these matters and quite frankly was already so emotionally drained watching my once pretty bathroom left with gaping holes in the floor and wall. I didn't know which way to go. But once I met Jimmy, I knew my prayers had been answered. He is eloquent, kind, generous and has INCREDIBLE integrity. He picked up on all kinds of little things in the bathroom I had never noticed before, and explained how many contractors cut corners to save money and in the end even a difference of $30 on grout for a job can make a world of difference on how the bathroom holds up. He never skimped on the products he used, and even ordered me a very special drain cover that has a hair catcher under it because he noticed I had long hair. He also ordered it in bronze to match the bathroom. It's those special, thoughtful touches that made me feel I was in excellent hands. He should teach a class because he is so knowledgeable, and I enjoyed my mini-tutoring sessions; when he would explain different things along the way. I especially found it fascinating when he would point out the improper things they had done and how he was going to do it differently. His knowledge is far more than just tile. In fact on the first day of demolition, when they pulled out one of the baseboards, a leak sprang because when they originally put in the baseboard they had nailed it through one of the baseboard heater pipes that was on the other side of the wall. I was panicked, but he was able to fix the pipe, and took the time to talk with my boiler guy on the phone to check various other things. That was a lifesaver. I wouldn't have known what to do; water and glycol was spewing everywhere; just a and quot;tileand quot; guy wouldn't have been able to handle that situation. My boiler guy said it would have leaked eventually because the nail would have corroded and then it could have been worse because it could have been after my beautiful, new bathroom. But Jimmy stepped in. He had the right part in his van already and never charged me extra for the part or the work to repair the pipe. One of my favorite and special things that he helped me with was that I wanted for the this and quot;newand quot; bathroom were two mini-chandeliers above the bathtub. I felt it would really make the space special and bring in more of my own style. He told me about the recessed lighting conversion kits, which I easily ordered on Amazon for $16 each and he installed those and my chandeliers for no additional money. The tile is exquisite. You won't find a better tile master than Jimmy, but it's the whole package of his kindness, integrity, thoughtfulness, range of skills that makes him so wonderful. One day I want to have him come back and do my kitchen floor and add a backsplash. His employee Ryan was wonderful as well. Super friendly and always had a smile on his face. That's why I had to write this review. For them it's not just a job, it's your home and they want it to be done they way they would do it in their own homes.

We love Jimmy and Paul. What a couple of greats guy to work with, and they did the best tile job ever. We had a very difficult tear-out and installation, so we procrastinated in getting the work done. We're so glad we found Jimmy as they did an outstanding job, and we couldn't be happier with the results.

We called Jimmy for an estimate on redoing a master bath. We live south of Denver, so he asked for a $40. estimate charge. No problem. We liked him, liked his suggestions, and had already decided that, even though he said his estimate wouldn't be the cheapest, we'd probably be hiring him. He's an amiable guy, knows his stuff, seems trustworthy. The problem is, that was July 20th. Today is September 7th, and despite multiple emails, still no estimate. We were always the ones initiating contact. About a month ago he emailed and said he'd been injured and would get back to us soon. We emailed again last week, never received a reply. Sure would be nice to get that $40. back.

Jimmy was professional from first contact. He made it clear what his time schedule was and kept me up to date. I emailed him on August 1st and he arrived on September 22nd. He is clear about the wait time in his bio. Jimmy and his helper Ryan were very friendly and left my kitchen looking great.

Talk about a perfectionist! If you've been frustrated with someone "who only does tile" and have added costs to you for work they won't do ....then call Jimmy. My biggest concern was this job was in our downtown loft and I was worried about the noise, debris and the neighbors which turned out to be a waste of my emotion since he was extremely thoughtful and you'd never know he was even here. Understanding my concern he even brought an emptied van just to hold all the construction mess and didn't impose an ounce on the building dumpsters. What a pro....so wait for him if you have to!

I will not hesitate to use Jimmy again. He does quality work and is diligent about completing the job. We had a delay in receiving the correct decorative tile and Jimmy juggled multiple jobs to get all of them completed as close to schedule as possible. I apologize to everyone who maybe had their jobs moved earlier delayed a day as our job was completed.

Jimmy and Ryan are the best! After dealing with another contractor who messed up a lot, we hired Jimmy to demolish and remodel the bathrooms. He is very punctual, perfectionist, always happy, trustworthy, affordable, and very clean. He always checked with us before doing anything to make sure we are okay with the decision. He is the kind of contractor who would go one extra step to make sure the job is done 100% correctly and beautifully. Jimmy's communication was excellent so it made it very easy for us to work with him. He also also fixed the stair nose that was done by our previous contractor incorrectly and did not charge us. During the remodeling, he had to relocate the dryer receptacle on the other side of the wall and only charged us for the material. He also installed backsplash tiles in our kitchen, and it turned out really well. He always protected the surrounding areas and cleaned up really well after the job was done. Overall, it was a great experience working with him, and I definitely recommend him.

I can't speak highly enough of my experience with Jimmy and his assistant Ryan. We live in a 1928 vintage bungalow in NW Denver. Our goal was to have a remodel done in retro style period appropriate for the house. From the very beginning I knew that Jimmy "got' what we were after. Jimmy was helpful throughout the process with his thoughts and suggestions and a pleasure to work with .... a few specifics deserve mentioning ... He cautioned in advance of any potential pitfalls .... we were fortunate that we didn't have any of the worst case scenarios creep up but had they I would have been prepared ... to me this is a big deal. The depth of his skills is terrific. From plumbing, electrical and tiling he always knew exactly what needed to be done and what materials and supplies were needed ..... again, no surprises. He got the job done efficiently and professionally. Jimmy and Ryan were most respectful of timelines and minimizing impact on our lives, additionally they were always considerate and gracious. It has been several days since we began using our new bathroom to it's full extent and I can honestly say the end result exceeds our expectations. The room is not only beautiful to look at but the improved functionality is a joy. I would not hesitate to recommend Jimmy and Ryan as I cannot see how our experience could have been better.

Demolition of existing bathroom, addition of exhaust fan (none exited previously), upgrading of electrical for fan,?GFI outlets, and switches. Installation of new pedestal sink, toilet, clawfoot tub shower surround?and medicine cabinet. New tiling on floor and half wall. He acted as the general contractor in arranging for tub refinishing. He modified heat vent to accommodate a period appropriate wall register and updated/replaced plumbing to the sink, toilet and tub

Jimmy and Ryan recently finished a complete remodel of our bathroom. They replaced the lighting, tub, toilet, sink, vanity, and tiled the shower, wainscot, and floor. Jimmy also painted the bathroom and did some great custom work for us, including a space-saving laundry hatch in the floor and four storage niches in the shower. Jimmy needed to access the shower plumbing from the basement and installed a handy access panel in the basement ceiling as part of that process. The only subcontractor Jimmy used was for the drywall, and the sub did a great job. Jimmy has been doing work like this for a long time and it shows in his attention to detail. Not only is the quality of his work impeccable, he and Ryan both kept the project area very tidy, were very responsive and adaptable, and were positive guys to have around. Finally, Jimmy's estimate was very competitive with the other estimate we received. We'd definitely hire him again.

Jimmy was great. After dealing with a drunken mess of a contractor before meeting Jimmy I was convinced I would just do the job myself. After I read Jimmy's bio I left a message and was heard back form immediately. He was able to work me into his schedule even though i was out of his normal area and he did a fantastic job. I couldn't recommend him more. Thanks Jimmy, the shower turned out amazing and we tell everyone how great you are!

Fantastic experience from top to bottom. I've already referred Jimmy to other people. He communicated throughout the entire process, was courteous and respectful, and the job he did is terrific. This was the first time I used him and I would definitely use him again.

Jimmy and Ryan did a beautiful job remodeling my basement bathroom. He suggested keeping the original tile in the bathroom walls and retiling only the shower walls and floor and bathroom floor. He regrouted the old tile to make it look new and retextured the walls which also added to the modernization. I didn't have to demo the whole thing which saved me a ton of money. His work is impecible, he is efficient, and he is very responsible and professional. I now have the charm of the original tile combined with the updated porcelain and ceramic tile. All tiles blended very well together. He also went out of his way to pick up my tile and door saving me travel and time. He is a wonderful contractor. I love his work and hope to use him again for future remodeling. I highly recommend Jimmy Stickler for bathroom remodels.

Our entire experience using Jimmy was absolutely perfect! I emailed him on 12/30 to ask for a quote, and he called me on 12/31 (yes, New Year's Eve) and asked if he could stop by that day. We initially wanted him to do just our shower (because we are able to install floor tile ourselves and wanted to save a little money), but he impressed us so much and his prices were so reasonable that we hired him to do the whole job. Another reason we liked his quote so much was that he was willing to let us do some of the work ourselves to save some money (like the demo of the shower, removing and reinstalling the toilet, etc). Jimmy pointed me to several different tile stores where he gets a discount to start my tile selection. Jimmy and his helper Ryan showed up each day with smiles on their faces and promptly at their estimated time of arrival. Jimmy is very good about texting and letting me know of any delays as well as sending me pictures of their progress while I was at work. And the finished product they produce is beautiful! Very happy we picked AKA Tile and Stone!

Jimmy is one of, or THE best contractor we've ever worked with, and we've done a lot of work on our home. He helps with design decisions, does BEAUTIFUL work (people 'in the know' say that when they see his work), he's always happy (after dealing with grumpy contractors, you know this is a big benefit!), he's affordable, he communicates excellently, and he even does little extras for no charge. If you haven't guessed, that means he is the kind of person you can relax with, and trust! I wish we could get more contractors like Jimmy!

This was a DYI project that I started and could not finish due to illness. James was patient and held his price even though I did not contact him until over a monthly and a half later after I had sort of gotten over pneumonia. James was the only one who responded to my request for services The job went extremely well. James and his crew showed up on time on the agreed upon day and worked their tails off until the job was done. It took them two days. This was a very hard job to do because of the large square footage and I wanted the epoxy grout. Epoxy grout is very hard to squidgy in and then you have to quickly wipe it off because it dries in minutes. James is very busy, the good ones always are, but he is very prompt and responsive to e-mail and keeps you well informed of his schedule. I think the job was a little more than they thought it was going to be, but like I said he held his price. James is very honest and quickly pointed out that I had paid him to much money, not realizing that was my intent to leave him a tip. Great service at a great price. Book early in your project. I will be using James again.

We were very dissatisfied with the quality of work done by the tile installer when our home was built so we looked for someone to redo the fireplace. We found Jimmy on Angie's list and were delighted with his work. Although the tile we selected was very difficult to work with, Jimmy was very patient and careful and got beautiful results. He also fixed some problems with the fire screen and woodwork. He and his assistant were particular about protecting our floors, carpet, etc. and cleaned well when they finished the project. We would definitely recommend him and use him again ourselves.
