Inland Landscape did an excellent job. I spoke to him on the phone and he was able to come by for an estimate the following day. Richard and his crew were prompt and professional. It was a relatively small job. We wanted concrete poured on a side yard so that we could put storage sheds there. Richard's crew arrived on time and did what they said they were going to do. I first talked to Richard on Thursday and the job was complete on the following Wednesday. I would recommend Richard and his crew.
Description of Work: Inland Landscape installed concrete on a side yard.

Exceptional work on the whole landscaping project! I would employ Richard's services in a heart-beat for any landscaping or landscaping-related work that needs to be done. Richard is our go-to guy for all of that work and, frankly, he should be yours too. I have had lots of experiences with landscape contractors over the years, and Richard was exceptional and stands out as a model for how it should be done. All of that, and Richard is reasonable and fair on the pricing of his services. Really, is there anything more you could ask for? I cannot think of a thing. So, obviously, my wife and I are very satisfied customers!
Description of Work: Richard and his crew did a lot of work on our property. From beginning to completion, they did a complete makeover of the landscaping of our home. The initial state of the landscaping was a sorry state of affairs, and was very much in need of being torn up and completely redone. Richard was completely up to the task from design of the new landscaping (front, back, and side yards) to preparation to constructing/installing/planting, you name it, Richard did it! Specifically, Richard and his crew: - established a stunning Tuscany concept design, - installed irrigation throughout the property, - did lots of infrastructure work, including electrical, drainage, and gas lines, - custom-formed pavers (lots of chipping and rounding of individual pavers) to create the design look that we wanted, - laid down hardscaping, and constructed sitting/garden block walls, with stone veneer, - installed low volt LED landscape lighting throughout the property (which beautifully lights up the property at night!), - installed electrical-110 security lighting, wrought iron gate, and plumbing lines, - built and installed a beautiful wood pergola structure, - installed stepping stones, and planted trees, plants, shrubs, and ground cover, - coordinated & supervised wrought iron subcontractor, electrical subcontractor, relocation of 2 AC compressor units, - tree relocating, tree trimming, and general cleanup Special mention must also be given to how Richard consistently worked at the highest levels of professionalism and reliability to have my wife and I be happy with the landscaping project at its various stages. The project began in early 2013 and was finished in July of 2013, and at every point along the way Richard showed up, did the work exceptionally well, and kept us appraised of progress so that we would not get anxious about things. And Richard was ready to do whatever it was that needed to be done. For example, a central part of the landscaping was to plant four 80 year old Olive trees that were transported from an Olive tree grove in central California to our home many miles away. The whole process of preparing for the planting of these majestic trees as well as the actual planting of them is a monumental task, and Richard and his crew faced the task straight on and did an outstanding job!! To this day, I feel the trees have established themselves and thrived because of the great care and attention Richard and his crew gave to this task. Thank you Richard (from me, my wife, and the Trees)!

[member names removed], thank you for entrusting your project to me and my company. I remember our first conversation over the phone when you said, you felt that you already new me based on my reviews, and were hoping I would be willing come out to your home in Corona and meet with you, and your wife [member name removed]. Wow, what a compliment! I knew that you were a wonderful, caring, and professional person right away. I sure enjoyed our brainstorming meetings, from getting your original wish list and being able to design a beautiful Tuscan inspired Landscape Concept Design for you both. We worked very well together, and I truly appreciated how you always complimented me on being on time for our many meetings, and construction updates. Every once in a great while, I am blessed to be able to use my creative input, design, construction knowledge & installation skills to create a beautiful landscape for a customer. Thank you both for being such amazing and thoughtful clients, and helping with the continued growth and success of my company, I am profoundly grateful!!! P.S. Me and my wife really enjoyed the amazing time at your home having dinner together, when the job was completed. You both went out of your way making sure we felt welcomed and comfortable, you are both truly amazing people... and I feel very fortunate to have meet you! Sincerely, Rich Durbin Owner Inland Landscape and Irrigation

Called these guys three times to get a quote. They call me back once, told me they would be available on Wednesday. I called and left a message to arrange a time, and they never got back to me. I guess these guys don't like to actually give someone a quote for work unless they know they can get some big bucks out of the client. Too bad for them. I was set to spend about 3k on my backyard, and now, I'll find someone else to do the job.

Richard Durbin is a contractor who understands the importance of attention to detail. All along the way he made sure everything was correct from measurements, to plant choices,to color choices, etc. He communicated all decisions and plans, including the days the crew would be here and when they would not. His crew is also extremely professional and polite. They were respectful of me, and the property. At the end of each day my property was left clean and neat, with everything washed down. They even delivered my mail to me. Richard has an excellent sense of design so I was able to trust his judgement from the color choices to what plants to pick. Of course he was sure I was comfortable with it all. He was on-site every day. This project was completed in five days.
Description of Work: Inland Landscape first removed the existing walkway and front stoop. The shrubs and plants were also removed, excluding the two Japanese maples. The crew redesigned and framed a new walkway and front porch giving me a larger flower bed on the west side. The concrete was colored in "fawn" and highlighted with two other color choices. The finished area was stamped and the inside perimeters were designed. New sprinklers were installed along with a sleeve underneath the walkway for the new sprinklers. With this sleeve I'll be able to add lighting in the future. A new garden wall was installed to create a raised bed for new plants and the Japanese maples. Lastly, new plants were installed in the flower bed along the garage and in the new raised bed.

The job went smoothly. I could have saved some costs if I had had the time to do more and inland landscape would have worked with me on that. Unfortunately I didn't have that time and had to have them do more. I'm sure they would work with anyone that wished to do more of the work themselves and that would proportionately reduce the inital costs. Their estimate for the costs of my project was lower than what I eventially paid, but that was my fault for adding things at different stages.
Description of Work: We bought a home with a yard the previous owners had "modified" and neglected. The sprinkler systeme was "do it yourself" and put in by amatuers. Tree stumps and un maintained rosebushes were an eyesore. The side yard had had so many amatuer attemps at "farming" that the lands drainage was sloped towards the house. I contacted Inland landscaping through Angie's list and set up a date for an estimate. Richard was very professional and listened to what I needed done and pointed out some things that I had overlooked. He immediately recognized the improper placement of sprinkler valves and I agreed the cleanest way to approach the issue was a total rip out and abandonement of the existing systeme. He pointed out the stumps that had to be removed before grading and said he would give me an estimate as close to what he thought it would take to remove them all. I agreed that it might be a little more if he had to bring in any special equipment, which it did. ( only an additional $250 ). They wound up removing 3 truckloads of tree roots prior to grading. They also removed a funky front and backyard lawn, installed a first rate sprinkler and dribbler systeme, planted perimeter shrubs and a new sod lawn. In short, a landscape makeover that everyone admires. When you take in the amount of work and materials involved the cost was quite reasonable. Richard worked with me after the initial estimate to add and subtract things as long as the changes and additions were made before critical stages in the time frames of construction took place. His company has many projects going at once so it worked in my favor to keep in touch with him so he could give me some time in between each stage to make any changesin the up coming stage, or if I had something to be done by myself. His crew are pros and the outcome was better than I hoped. I would use his services again. Even on small jobs, if I wanted it done right, these are the guys to get.

Inland Landscaping returned my phone messages, scheduled an estimate, and was punctual and professional.
Description of Work: I needed to upgrade our sprinkler system in front, side, and back yards. Mr. Durbin consulted with my husband, walked the property, and gave us a written estimate. He was punctual and professional. Although we did not choose Inland Landscaping (we did three estimates and choose a company that a family member had previously worked with) we felt the quote was comparable to the others and handled efficiently and professionally. I will contact Inland Landscaping in the future if I need further landscaping.

Dave at Inland Landscaping was initially very professional on the phone and in email. He came out to my property to take a look and provide an estimate for the work I needed done. Several of the prices he quoted seemed very high. But, after spending about an hour looking around my property and taking notes, he said he would send me a detailed bid in email, and then he never got back to me. It ended up being a waste of a day for me, planning my schedule around being available to meet him. I was very disappointed. He clearly didn't want the job but didn't have the courtesy to tell me.
Description of Work: I needed to clean up and redo landscaping in the front and back of my home, which I had just bought. There was only manual sprinkling in the front and no irrigation at all in the back. I found Inland Landscaping on Angie's List and emailed a summary of what I was looking for and arranged to meet Dave at my home so he could provide me with an estimate.

First and foremost - huge thanks to Angie's list for providing this forum so that my husband and I could make an informed decision. One of the reasons we had put this project off was because we didn't even know where to start looking for a contractor who could perform the services we needed. We met with several landscape groups and based on these first estimate meetings, Rich Durbin and his team stood far out above the others. I knew that I wanted planters in the backyard, I knew I needed landscaping, but other than that didn't have a creative idea in my head. what made Rich stand out above the others initially was that he came to me with ideas. He understood my high level requirements but then he went on to develop a beautiful backyard plan that would not only make me happy in an aesthetic way but would also ensure that my backyard was done with the proper leveling, drainage, etc. so that we we would not ever run the risk of water damage, etc. The other groups that I talked with would have given me exactly what I asked for, but honestly, I didn't know what I was asking for. Rich was able to turn my vision into a plan. Rich was also extremely price sensitive - keeping my budget in mind, he provided high quality workmanship and materials. I also appreciated the fact that he gave me options. It was always me, asking for upgrades - he never approached me with the highest cost of doing things initially. He gave me choices and helped me understand where I could save money if needed. His team was prompt, courteous and always arrived when they said they would. Everyday they cleaned up their work area. I need to point out what we truly appreciated about Rich. His integrity is unparalleled. We were so completely out of our comfort zone in terms of working with contractors. Rich is an honest man and has ethics and integrity in all that he does. While his produced product (i.e. my backyard and front walkway) look amazing, it was his integrity and honesty that we truly valued. He believes in doing things the right way and we always felt as though we could completely trust his guidance and advice. We now have a beautiful backyard, complete with a dog run for my 2 dogs. We also have a beautiful front walkway that keeps me from walking in the wet grass every morning. I would without ANY hesitation recommend Rich and his team for any projects. In addition, I will no longer ever be using Angies list to look for a landscape contractor (sorry Angie!). I don't have the need as I will always turn to Rich if ever needing to have any additional work done. I must say, that while my family is excited to have our beautiful backyard, we will miss seeing Rich around the property. How often can you say that about a contractor?
Description of Work: Complete Redo of backyard that resembled a worn torn desert. In addition, we were so pleased with services we extended his contract to build a walkway in the front of the house Services included: Design plan Backyard leveling Drainage Planter/masonry design Landscaping concrete staining dog run Electrical

I had called 7 contractors and only 3 called me back. He returned my call within 2 hours. This contractor said that he was very efficient at his job and would love the opportunity to do the work. He said he would be at my home at 9:30 the next morning and he was there at 9:30 am. He looked over the problem and got right to work. Within I would say about 30 minutes he had the water shut off and the hole dug. He had the break in my sprinkler line fixed and the new shutoff valve in place with in the next hour. I have lots of plants all around both of the areas that he was working on and he didn't damage a one of them! He recovered the hole he dug and put my bark back in place. He cleanup and washed down my walkway and steps were the break had occurred. You can't even tell he had been in the area after he was done. He asked if there was anything else that I had that needed to be done. I told him that my sprinkler valve to the back yard leaked and wanted to know what he thought about it. He showed me how to adjust the valve so that it didn't leak. This is important because he could have just said to replace it, but instead he said the valve was fine, it just needed a little tweaking. That simple action sold me on this contractor! I believe this shows his honesty and his integrity. I will use him again and I will tell all of my friends about him.

as noted above a good try by this contractor to explain himself but he doesn't address the issue WHY HE NEVER CONTACTED ME TO TELL ME OF THIS. THIS IS A CONTRACTOR WITH NO ETHICS ONLY TRYING TO AVOID DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE. HE NEVER MADE ANY FURTHER EFFORT TO TELL ME OF HIS BELIEF OR FEELINGS. HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO MADE NO EFFORT. OBVIOUSLY HE DIDN'T WANT THE WORK BUT IT IS EXTREMELY POOR PRACTICE TO NEVER CALL AND ADVISE ME OF HIS CONCERN AFTER PROMISING HE WOULD GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE!!! BEING ON THIS LIST CERTAINLY DOESN'T ENSURE THIS CONTRACTOR WILL DEMONSTRATE GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICES FOR A JOB HE DOESN'T WANT. SO MUCH FOR 22 YEARS IN BUSINESS
Description of Work: We selected this contractor for a bid on a retaining wall job approximately 2 weeks ago due to his excellent ratings on this list. He did come out as scheduled on 5-16-11 and take the measurements for the job and promised a completed bid within 1 week. He stated he could do the type of work we were requesting as he was asked that specific question and he responded that he could. 1 week later on 5-23-11 we had not yet received a bid and my wife called him and he stated he would send the bid by Wednesday 5-25-11. To date, 5-27-11, we have received no bid or phone call regarding the delay in sending the bid. I would not use this individual for any further services as he does not have the professional courtesy to call and let us know that perhaps he is running behind schedule, especially as we called him and he made a promise to have the bid by the date noted above. He was told that we were interested in having the job completed as soon as possible.

The reason I did not pursue this job was due to the fact the previous contractor that this homeowner hired had left all his job materials and abandoned the job in a partially completed stage. I am an A rated company with Angie's List and have been contracting for 22 years, I went with my gut feeling on this, and it looks like I made the correct decision. I was contracted with a repeat Angie's List customer of mine, and a new customer at the time, and always give my undivided attention and supervision to my contracted jobs in progress. Rich was prompt in responding to my request for a quote. He drew up a landscaping plan with the new walkway and plants and a waterfall shown for future work. His crew started promptly and were always timely. They only broke for a short lunch and cleaned up after themselves thoroughly. They were very friendly and thoughtful. I've had excellent service from Inland Landscape and will give them first shot at any future work.
Description of Work: My walkway is very long because I have a half acre lot. It runs along the front of my house and turns to lead up to my front door which is set pretty far back. Removed and disposed of existing walkway which was solid concrete. Also removed a portion of cracked driveway. Designed a new walkway and framed it out. Poured concrete for new walkway and portion of driveway then stamped the walkway to make it look like rough granite. Also used decorative stamps like roses. The concrete had some color added. When concrete was dry, sealed it to make it look similar to granite or decorative rock. Also planted some flowers and bushes along the walkway in my back yard. Rich is very creative and designs specifically for your property which is an added plus!

Rich and his crew were excellent throughout. He listened to what we wanted, made professional suggestions, and provided us with complete estimates of the work. He and his crew were always punctual, kept us informed as the project progressed, and finished on time and on budget. Rich also followed up to make sure there were no problems and that we were satisfied. I would recommend his services to anyone, and in fact, a few of our neighbors also hired Rich and his crew for their own projects.
Description of Work: Rich Durbin and his crew built a front yard courtyard with a curved stucco wall. I was so pleased with the work Richard did in the backyard, I asked him to help me create something interesting for my front patio. We had fun brainstorming ideas as Richard translated my 'feelings' about a front garden patio into something eye catching and joyful. As before, his work is meticulous and he has an eye for pulling all the pieces together into a cohesive finish. It was a struggle to complete the work as it rained on and off during the whole process. Richard and his crew worked diligently to get the job done, sometimes bringing in a pool pump to drain water and working in the rain until it became too much. I often see neighbors stop out front to view his work and occassionally stand at the sidewalk myself to admire my new front garden patio.

Richard worked with me to design a new patio area that would upgrade the existing backyard. This work was done in conjunction with another project to re-stucco my house. Richard worked with me to coordinate his project along with the other and was flexible in scheduling when the other project didn't go as planned. At one point, I asked him to come out right away to remove some landscaping to accommodate the stucco contractor and he jumped right on it (which I really appreciated). He had the 'vision' about how the stamped concrete would look and it came out more beautifully than I anticipated. I've received many compliments on the new patio and more than one person has commented on the excellent quality of the work. I'm extremely happy with the outcome.
Description of Work: - Designed addition of patio to back yard - Built multi-level patio including stamped concrete and pergola - Upgraded plants in planter area - Stripped grass and laid sod - Modified irrigation system to accommodate changes

Many thanks for your trust and faith in me. I really enjoyed building the Tuscany style pergola, and installing the decrotive and colorful stamped raised concrete patio with the Hawaiian flower stamped boarder. It's a thrill for me to see my design ideas come to life. Thank you for that opportunity. Regards, Rich Durbin

I was so happy after we met to show you what I had done with my back yard, and you both decided to hire me on the spot. You were both such a pleasure to work for, and the member was great with stone veneer color choices. Thanks for allowing me to build the fire pit and redue the spa cap and stone veneer to match it, along with the sitting wall. Redoing the old brick and concrete pool deck, with the new stamped and colored concrete was fun. I remember doing that concrete job on Christmas Eve so that it would be done in time for the holiday. Building the sitting wall encloser around the turtle pond was a neat experience too. Thank you so much for being instrumental in my company's growth! Regards, Rich Durbin

As the designer, I was kept in the loop by Inland Landscape, and responded almost daily to field issues that needed to be resolved. Rich Durbin (the Inland Landscape owner) communicated very well with me, and with the property owner regarding his progress, and field changes that needed to be made when unanticipated conditions were encountered.
Description of Work: Inland Landscaping followed my engineered plans to provide a new drain system, and waterproofing to protect a neighbor's wall from water intrusion. The project included new stamped concrete patios, new drain system, waterproofing, stucco and weep screed repairs.
