We read the reviews on Angie's list and decided to call North State Drywall. Joe responded promptly and came out and gave us a bid.. The start date was to be 10/3/12, but due to other work we were going to have done in our home, we requested he start 9/30/12, as that would be better for us. He was able to come early and did the job in two days. He did excellent work. We're very happy with the quality, and Joe, his daughter and another worker were very pleasant, and cleaned up when they were finished. It was a good experience. Joe recommended M.D. Painting. They also did a great job, and I will be writing a review in the painting section of Angie's list.

Overall the job went very well. Joe and his daughter who taped everything off, assisted in moving and covering furniture, and cleaned up an needed, arrived promptly both mornings and worked continuously all day. They stopped only for lunch and short rest breaks. When the work was completed, furniture and blinds were put back in their original locations, floors vaccumed and furniture dusted off. Joe and his daughter were a pleasure to be around.

The man doing the work was punctual and worked quickly. When he first came out, it turned out the pipes that caused the hole in the first place were still leaking, so he had to come back later. He came back once more to patch and then a final time to sand out the area. HOWEVER, at no time was I presented with any formal estimate or contract, which is probably mostly my fault - on this point, I had assumed that my use of an Angie's List voucher (2 hours for $89) had affected this somehow. This turned out to be a big mistake, because, despite being on-site for about 2 hours, he just threw out $100 as what I owed him. He would not negotiate and kept repeating that it would have been a $300 job without the voucher, though the voucher was for 2 hours of work and not by the job. Other than the poor business practices and the feeling of being "taken", the quality of work was great.

North State Drywall Inc showed up on time and prepared the area to protect the floors and furniture. They removed the wall paper, as agreed. Because they did a good job and were very courteous, I hired them to texture the walls also. They were able to match exactly the texture of the adjoining walls. I was very happy with their service.

The job was small but needed to get done and I did not have the DIY skills. North State Drywall answered the phone on the first call, made an appointment, showed up the next day as scheduled and had the work completed within an hour. Drywall was added, sealed and textured. Next time we paint, it will be ready. Money and very little time well spent!

He arrived on time, was very pleasant and willing to do the job. He tried out some new product for wallpaper removal and it came off like a dream. The spakeling was really well done. I didn't not even get the room painted for 5 months as it looked so good.

Joe responded right away to my call. He came out on a Saturday and gave us an estimate. We had him come back the next week. He did the work in the evening so we did not have to take time off of work. He did an excellent job. If I need drywall repair again he will be the one I call! The kitchen looks great! You can not even tell where the repairs had been maid. There were 3 different kinds of texture and he matched them all with no problems! The new beam looks like it always was there.

He did a very good job. He checked with me before moving forward when realizing it'd be more than the special. After he made initial contact I had to keep delaying the work. He was a very nice man and very professional. He was neat and on time. I would recommend him.

Joe showed up promptly for the estimate. Both jobs done quickly and cleanly. Joe even come on a Saturday for me, although it was his daughter's birthday that done! I highly recommend him, and will use him again!

Joe was one of the several drywall contractors I called in for an estimate. He was fairly priced (similar to several others), but was willing to do the work on my tight time schedule. The day I called him to award him the bid, he arranged to come that same evening, after another job in the area. This was great for me because I have other subs for repair work coming a few days later. The first visit, he came and did the patch work, professional and clean. He scheduled to come back first thing in the morning to texture. The next day, he arrived as promised and was prompt, fast, and clean doing the texturing.He was friendly and professional and his work was great quality. My wife said she couldn't tell where the damage had been if it weren't for the fact that she already knew. We also liked the custom decorative texture he offered us. I only wish I had remembered he had a coupon available here on Angies List. It would have saved me some money. I'll just consider the difference his tip for such prompt service. :)

Came to my house and had to go get drywall in order to complete the job. Did the work requested and then came back a week later to spray the texture.

Purchased an Angie's list special. North State was excellent all the way around.

I called Joe Friend to install a 12 foot closet in the big bonus room upstairs. Joe explained that he is not licensed to do wood framing only steel framing but Joe lined me up with a wood framer that very day. The closet was framed the next day and Joe came back and hung the drywall and taped it, then returned to complete the texture. Joe also repaired a crack in the existing drywall in another part of the room. The quality of the work is excellent. For me the most important aspect was getting the job done quickly as I was getting this house ready for rental. Joe made sure the job was done quickly helping me get it rented sooner. Joe kept his word, was prompt, was clean, and was nice and friendly. Joe recommendation of James Steele to provide the wood framing was also right on point. James also did a great job and was an excellent referral. I am keeping Joe Friend and James Steele in my contacts list for future work. Joe's customer service helped me hit a home run on this project. Highly recommended.

Ultimately, I did not have Joe do the job, because I was having the whole house painted and decided to let the painter do the entire job, which seemed easier in this situation. However, I would definitely call Joe again were I to need drywall work, and I would recommend him to others.

We had a leaky roof, and so a wall to our closet in our sun room was molded out and had a gaping hole. We had been wanting to have it fixed for a while, but could not afford it. We saw the coupon for 2 hours of drywall for $79. We called Joe Friend, and he returned our call quickly. We made an appointment for a free estimate, and he gave us an estimate for $200 since the damage was much more than a 2 hour job. He took his time to discuss the job with us, and was a good communicator. When we moved into house, the closet inside had not been finished. He offered to complete the job on the closet for $100 more. We didn't think we could afford $100 more, so we declined. However, he offered to do it any way, and told us he would do it for free, and he was fine with ever we could pay for the closet. I was so surprised and thankful for his offer. That kindness is very rare these days. He was able to get us into his schedule quickly, and was here two days later.He showed up on time, very punctual, and got to work quickly. He came back a few days later after the drywall had dried.He was so easy to work with. He was on time, very friendly, and professional. We ended up paying him $80 for the closet because it was so well done. I wish we could have paid the full amount. I highly recommend him for any drywall work. You won't be disappointed!

The owner, Joe, is very personable and he did an excellent job. It was a pretty substancial project and he cleaned up well afterwards. He did a high quality job and I was pleased with the results! I would recommend him and I would be quick to use him again!

Arrived on time of appointment and surveyed damage and worked up a bid. Came back and repaired the damage and then returned and finished surface for paint.

The full process couldn't have been easier. It was just a matter of days between quote and the job starting and finishing. Joe is a first-rate contractor!

.They did the work, and it was O.K., but they didn't do a very good job cleaning up. They took the big pieces of wallpaper, but left little pieces and gluey stuff all over. They didn't quite finish all that needed to be done in the time that was paid for. So, to their credit, they did work about an extra 45 minutes -- probably just about the amount of time he spent hustling me to buy more services. He asked me for an additional $100.00 for the extra time. I paid it, because the job was worth the extra, but, he sure made me uncomfortable with all his huckstering.

Joe met with me quite promptly to give me a quote, and was able to start on the work immediately. It was a bigger job than expected, but was done in a timely manner and when he left, the walls were prepped and ready for me to start painting. He even left the drop clothes down for me so I wouldn't have to prep again before starting on the paint job. I would recommend North State Drywall to anyone who needs this type of work done, and plan on using them again when the need arises.

I had removed most of the wallpaper from the walls in my master bedroom and had managed to damage the walls while doing it. There was still some wallpaper to be removed and the walls needed to be repaired. Additionally, I wanted to have the walls and ceiling retextured, an unsightly seam in the ceiling repaired and the drywall work completed around two windows that had been replaced. Joe gave me a reasonable estimate for the work and scheduled the work at my convenience. The work was labor intensive and took two days to complete. Joe was punctual, pleasant, professional and very skilled at his trade. He worked steadily, kept the mess to an absolute minimum and cleaned up thoroughly when the job was done. I am very happy with the finished product and will definitely use this company again.

He did a fine and good job. He is a nice guy. He worked hard and was prompt. He was here when he said he would. He did not clean up properly and I was disappointed by this. He did a fair clean up and it was not all that bad. I had to wipe stuff of the door handle, mirrors and cabinets and also on the hall rug. I would use him again in the future.
