KRM Construction

Electrical, Finished Carpentry and Woodworking, Kitchen and Bath Remodeling,

About us

I run a general contracting company which specializes in residential and light commercial work. This requires me to subcontract some parts of a large job out. All subcontractors are highly skilled at their trades.A good portion of a job is completed myself. I also have an electrical license where all of the work is completed myself. I pride my company and reputation as always being punctual and deliver the highest quality work. Small 1-2 day jobs are done on a time and materials basis. For larger jobs, the client is given a proposal/contract for review and signed acceptance before any work begins. I have never had a complaint from a client and have many repeat customers. It will be my pleasure to meet with you to discuss your projects. I have a B-General building license and C-10 electrical license. (Lic#853025)Thank you.

Thank you for your more than kind response about your electrical work. Being as I reside in Siskiyou county at this time, it is difficult to coordinate work here and down south. I hope you found a contractor that was able to help you out. Take care, Kevin KRM Construction

He was honest enough to tell us he'd have to subcontract and that we could save money and hassle by calling a glass store. We will certainly use him in the future, and recommend him word-of-mouth.

Sorry about the slow response to your post. I hope you found a glass contractor for your shower door. He called me back within a day of leaving him the original message. He showed up on the day and at the times he said he would be there. Although the whole project took awhile from our first meeting, it is only because I needed to choose which lights I wanted to purchase. Once I had purchased the lights, Kevin was able to take care of everything in about 5 hours. It's great to have "light" again in the kitchen and laundry room.
Description of Work: Replaced 11 under counter and over cabinet lights in my kitchen. He also replaced the ballast in my laundry room light.

Overall, the experience was good. Kevin was pleasant to work with and even showed up early. He ran into an issue that wasn’t typical and spent time to figure it out. The work was completed satisfactory to what I was looking for. I would recommend him to others, but I wouldn’t use him again because he is located far away from me.

This guy really knew his stuff. I provided some pictures so that he knew what the situation was. That enabled him to come prepared with everything he needed to get the job done. He was quick, neat, and professional. His pricing is very reasonable too.
Description of Work: I needed an overhead light fixture installed in a second story bedroom and connected to an existing wall switch. It involved getting into an unfinished attic space, making a hole in the ceiling, attaching the bracket for the light, running cable from it down to the switch on the other side of the room.

This was part of a Big Deal offer for $99.00 2 hrs of work. Went well, had good repore with Kevin. He installed the patio motion light and explained to me how it functioned. He installed the bathroom light switch from beige to white and the GFI electrical plug. Then he installed the outdoor GFI plug. I had some additional plugs that I wanted to have installed but he informed me that if the had no ground he wouuld have to put a sticked on it stating not grounded. He said he would be able to install each in about 10 min. and that if I wanted he would do it. I opted out because I was running short on time and needed to get ready for work. I asked for estimates on putting in a ceiling fan and wall mout for TV he estimated 6 hours for each to be done. I decided not to have those done at this time.

He took them out and built new supports and stairs even though the tenants still occupied the unit. Very nice jobs everyone thought highly of Kevin's work. Even though the weather turned bad he stuck to his word and weather allowing he met the schedule. Billing was a nice surprise as we did not realize the 5 % up to 200.00 dollar discount he gave to us for finding him on Angie's list. We hope to have him back again to do some more work. Side not there are few Contractors that will work with Home Owners Association and we really appreciated his work.

I appreciate that you took the time to submit this glowing report. When working for a HOA, it takes a bit more attention to detail as there are many more people to satisfy than an individual homeowner. We had a rental that needed a new kitchen sink, bathtub and window. Kevin understood that as a rental we wanted a solid job as cost effective as possible. He delivered that. When confronted with some other issues that popped up, Kevn was able to handle them well, and again cost effectively. In the kitchen he removed the old sink, replaced it with a SS model and retro fitted the plumbing. In the bathroom, he removed the old window and replaced it with a modern window, replacing some water damaged wood as he went. The old tub and tile were removed. A few issues came up with damaged wood, a drain pipe in an unfortunate location and dealing with some coved flooring. He rerouted the drain, replaced the damage wood and installed the tub and enclosure. We would use KRM Construction again

The work took several days and the contractor did a great job. He not only replaced the trim but also fixed the original issues with the windows by properly securing the windows and adding waterproof flashing around the windows before installing the trim (at no extra cost). He was very punctual and took great pains to ensure that his work was not disruptive to anyone in the household. I would use KRM again in a heart beat.
Description of Work: Contractor replaced wood trim on 3 exterior windows (2 on the second floor and a very large window on the 1st floor), replaced wood trim on a sliding glass door and a long length of wood trim between 1st and 2nd floor. The original had been damaged by the weather and by improperly installed windows (from original builder).

Overall the work went well although the start was delayed for a variety of reasons. In general, Kevin is very helpful with design ideas and suggestions which was very handy. There were only a couple of instances when we could have used a design expert to help with important, big-ticket decisions such as window selection and the design of the tile work. We have mixed reviews for the tile subs used. They took longer than estimated and had to redo some of the grout work. But the end product looks very nice.
Description of Work: Master bath remodel and addition of approximately 20 sq. ft. for separate toilet room. Reconfigured the shower area with a bench and wall niche; tiled floor and walls; installed/wired under floor heat mat, ceiling electric heat, 2 exhaust fans and lighting in both rooms. Plumbing: new shower valve, faucets, moved toilet location and replaced 2 water efficient toilets (one in another bathroom). Installed finish hardware including 2 large medicine cabinets, towel bars and hooks. Five new windows in the home replaced with siding and trim after termite damage was repaired. Window interiors trimmed with window sills, wood jambs and easings. Kevin was hired after doing other large home projects in the past including: Kitchen remodel, living room renovation, hall bath remodel and garage conversion to office/den. He installed skylights in the hall bath and office/den and a heated jacuzzi tub in the hall bath. We found Kevin to be honest, reliable, pleasant and our dog loves him!

We started with demolition of the kitchen and 2 of the 3 baths. From there we kept going until all of the dry rot and funky old wall coverings were removed (40 year old house with many poorly attempted remodels but good bones). We also had to demolish the garage roof/deck and beef up the framing under the kitchen. From there we upgraded all the electrical and remodeled the kitchen and 3 baths to todays design. The house came out fantastic and my son says it looks like something you see in a magazine!
Description of Work: KRM Construction helped me completely remodel my vacation home. Kevin worked on every aspect of the project except the roofing. He installed new windows, siding, deck, railing, flooring, tile, plumbing, kitchen, bathrooms and all the electrical to go with the project. He also allowed me to work along side as I have years of carpentry experience but I don't touch the electrical or plumbing (he is an expert at both). I completely refurbished this 2000 square foot house inside and out for much less than hiring everything out to individual subcontractors. His workmanship is absolutely first rate and up to code. My final inspection took 10 minutes as the inspector could see the quality of work! This is the fifth house KRM Construction has helped me with and I wouldn't consider anyone else!

The reason we hired Kevin was that he was responsible for the complete remodel of our master bathroom and upstairs powder room several years ago. My husband and I found Kevin not only highly capable, but trustworthy and thorough. He is a consummate professional and a pleasure to work with. The guest bathroom turned out exactly as we hoped it would. The work was completed in a timely fashion and at the price agreed upon. We would not hesitate to recommend KRM construction and would definitely use Kevin for future projects.
Description of Work: We hired Kevin to do a complete bathroom remodel for our guest bath. This included plumbing, tile work, electrical, lighting fixtures, crown molding, removal of an existing bathtub and installation of a large shower.
