Turn Key Remodel has been absolutely wonderful. They've done an amazing job. We're so appreciative to everyone involved from their contractors to their office staff. Everyone was kind, helpful and professional. They were very communicative, clean and prompt. We've never done anything like this before and they were very patient with us. They listened to any concerns we had and were quick to fix a couple of very small hiccups. Everything looks sensational and they finished right on schedule!! They're design team was the thing that really made Turn Key special. They have a wonderful eye and we would've been lost without them! Turn Key was recommended to us by a friend and we are so glad we chose them. An added bonus was being able to give back to the community and hire a contractor from our home town.
Description of Work: Replaced cabinets, countertops, backsplash, sink and flooring. They also did flooring throughout the whole house and installed new baseboards. They removed the popcorn ceiling and retextured the ceilings. Also did some cabinetry in another room by our fireplace. Also did a demo and reinstall of our back fence.

Turn Key Remodel was truly a pleasure to work with. I had a 285 square foot upstairs room addition which is not a simple feat, but the owner Mark and his team did an amazing job. In addition to their quality workmanship and competitive pricing, for me Turn Key Remodel's greatest asset is that Mark and his team were very responsive to any questions or issues I had throughout that construction process. I would usually get a response back the same day, or if I had an inquiry late in the day, someone would get back to me the next morning. If it was a small issue, then one of Mark's team would get back to me in a timely manner, but if it was a larger questions or issue, Mark would call me himself. Mark and his entire team (from his designer Sam, to his office staff of Dianeli and Shelby) are hardworking, honest people who I would gladly hire again.

I can't say enough good things about Mark and his team at Turn Key Remodel. They came highly recommended to me from a neighbor and now I'm recommending them. They were on time, on budget and very flexible with our needs and schedule. There were a couple minor issues and they fixed those right away. Our kitchen remodel turned out beautiful and we couldn't be happier. Mark is very professional and reliable. He went out of his way to find a certain style of cabinets we wanted and came up with some great ideas that really elevated the whole design. Drywall, cabinets, plumbing, electrical, windows and countertops were all of the things we needed and Turn Key was a one-stop shop for all of this, which made things much easier. Thanks Mark!

I signed a contract with Mark Apicella of Turn Key Remodel for a bathroom remodel job and he did not supervise the project well and it turned out to be a nightmare as a result. It started with the demolition when he told me that everything in the adjoining master bedroom would be covered during the demolition of the master bathroom, but he did not supervise the workers and they did not cover anything in the bedroom! There was a thick layer of dust and debris covering all of my bedding and furniture. Then, he introduced a "project manager" to me who basically came on the job only in the initial stages of framing and told me that he did not have to follow the plans that I had gone over with the contractor. Then, when the framing was done, it was not completely level and the pocket door was not framed correctly. An electrician was sent over and he messed up the wiring by putting it in the framing for the medicine cabinet. In addition, the contractor, Mark Apicella, told the electrician to scrape the acoustic ceiling around some recessed light and later I found out that it had asbestos and I had to get abatement done. This contractor told me that he did not have time to supervise my job and after several months of this nightmare of a remodel, I ended up terminating our contract and hired a different contractor to finish the job. Iniitially, Mark Apicella asked me if he could advertise his business by putting his sign on my property during the remodel, but I had to tell him to take the sign away because he was not a contractor that I would ever recommend. To top it off, I found out that my dentist had hired this contractor and also had problems with him. His work was "mickey mouse" and not professional.

When I was hired by the above [member name removed] to remodel a 7'x8' bathroom, I was very concerned since she filed a complaint to the contractors board on the last contractor that remodeled her other bathroom. She claimed that he just got his license and was inexperienced. [member name removed] was referred to me by another contractor who found out about me by a previous client, whom was referred to me by another previous client as a result of providing ethical and superior business practices and craftsmanship. The city building inspector signed off all of my work including the rough plumbing, electrical, mechanical and framing even though [member name removed] stressed her concerns of poor craftsmanship. The inspector stated that he knew how concerned she was due to his experience with her from the last contractor/remodel and reassured her that everything was completed satisfactorily. In addition, I had a structural engineer provide her with a signed and stamped letter of documentation stating that all of the work completed was done correctly. In my opinion, I believe that the contractor that referred her to me instigated the entire series of events because I did not give him a kick back for a referral fee. After he alluded to the inquiry, many questions arose by [member name removed] thereafter to the standards of our work and it was a downward spiral from that point on. The client would show me how a wall was out of plumb a 1/4" from a diagonal cross section on an 8'x8' wall, among other insignificant things. I don't believe a homeowner would have any knowledge of how or why to even check something like that, but it is just an assumption and not fact based. What is fact based is that the contractor that referred [member name removed] to me, Richard D. Alcaraz of Irvine-Viejo Builders (aka Squeaky Floor Doctor), CSLB License #439205, was not insured, no valid bond and no workers compensation policy. He had employees on the job-site, but his license was and is still suspended to date! [member name removed] praised everything he did and therefore wanted him to finish the job, so I let him do so after several attempts to do everything I could to ensure her satisfaction. It is unfortunate that I cannot make every person happy and believe me it is not for lack of trying. I do whatever it takes to make all of my customers happy and strive to exceed their expectations. As a result, I have a flawless contractors license since 2001, a successful business through the toughest economy in history and an endless list of testimonials and referrals. It pains me to know that I have an unsatisfied client and I wish there was something I could have done to resolve the situation, but nothing worked and I know that it had nothing to do with me or the quality of my work.

I have a hardwood floor. When they tore out the bathroom they put dents and dings in the floor. They did replace it but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. He had a hard time finding someone who could install the shower surround I had purchased. He had originally assured me it wouldn't be a problem. I had wanted paneling all the way around the bathroom. He didn't remember that when he put in the cabinet and didn't leave space for it so the paneling couldn't be installed. The workers weren't very careful. The shower pan has debris that I can't get out now because they didn't cover it properly. They also didn't cover the tile properly so the grout is discolored. The job took a lot longer than anticipated.

Response from TURN KEY REMODEL
This is the first time that I became aware of this posting and feel obligated to respond in my defense. I do recall, that although the wood floor was covered and protected, the client claimed that the damage was caused by my workers and I did what I felt was right thing to do and replaced the damaged material. I do not remember any of the other issues nor would I ever leave any loose ends untied. I do, however, remember that this customer called me a couple of years after the fact accusing me that my plumber was responsible for a leak in a nearby wall. The plumbing leak was not related to any of the work completed during the bath remodel and the repairs were made as necessary without mention of any other outstanding issues. This is the first publicly documented negative comment I have ever come across in the 10+ years that I have been a general contractor. I take it very personal if a client is not 100% satisfied and I take great pride in the work I provide my customers. I will always do whatever it takes to make my customers happy and strive to exceed their expectations.
