It was a nightmare working with Jeff Lozon of Sophisticated Concepts. He ABANDONED our pool/spa project after 13 months of uncompleted work. His company broke ground at our house on February 10, 2018 and when the pool still wasn't finished on March 1, 2019 we had no choice but to terminate the contract with an unfinished pool. We were forced to file two complaints with the State Contractor’s Board and were awarded judgements in our favor both times ($10,000 and $7,797). Mr. Lozon refused to pay the second award and we had to file a CLAIM against his BOND COMPANY, which paid out the $10K. Among the items that the State Contractors Board found sub-standard or non-existent and judged in our favor: $10,000 Lack of proper drainage causing structure damage. $2,250 Electrical work that did not pass City Code $1,760 Replacement of an ILLEGAL one speed 3HP pool pump $4,752 Pool plastering (never performed) $2,530 Property damage (paint and stucco) $475 Broken sprinklers The customer service from Mr. Lozon is uniformly awful. Weeks would pass with no answers on schedules or concerns. Mr. Lozon was untruthful and rationalized poor workmanship. He “mis-measured” the $20,000 travertine deck four times, each time inflating the measurements to his potential financial benefit. And despite all the delays caused by him, and the poor workmanship, Mr. Lozon had the gall to actually file a cross-claim against us asserting that we had caused the delays, and he sought damages against us for $15,000. Lozon of course had no evidence to support that and the Contractor's Board had no problem denying that cross-claim in its entirety. We have documentation to substantiate everything in this review.
