Reliable Tree Service

Superb Work 5 stars Dave Brown’s Reliable Tree Service has done superb work for me for 20 years (& every year since 2007). I have a 60 x 100’ lot with 3 really big trees: an Italian Stone Pine (6 ft. diameter trunk), a Ficus that needs major thinning every year (3 ft. diameter trunk) & a Pittosporum tree (18-in diameter trunk). I also have 3 smaller trees. From the first day they worked for me, they have been punctual, work very hard and do a great job, including cleanup. They damage nothing, despite the very limited working area. As part of the quote process, Dave & I discuss how to protect the many vulnerable items – I protect or move some things in advance & his crew does the rest when they arrive. Dave is extremely easy to work with. The guys in his crew remain mostly the same from year to year & are friendly & competent. They're also licensed/insured/bonded, which is an absolute requirement for this sort of work. In addition to trimming my trees, they’ve done a fantastic job removing a 4th large tree (2 ft. dia.), big bushes & ivy; also installing pavers & areas of rock mulch, planting 3 citrus trees, stabilizing a wood fence, removing an above-ground spa, and more. Due to the great demand for Reliable’s work, sometimes it takes an extra call or so to schedule an appointment for Dave to come over & assess the work . . . so be patient. His office manager Hannah is friendly & helpful. I’m convinced that you could not find a better company. Before I found Reliable, I never rehired the same tree service twice due to serious problems (yes, they too were licensed & insured). Excellent. They came out trimmed tree and cleaned up mess. When I came home it was all finished.

We've used Dave Brown/Reliable Tree Service for many years now and have always been very pleased with the work. We have 3 large trees that need trimming in different years, one every year, one every other year and one every 3 years. We also used Reliable Tree Service to remove a very large Box Elder tree and Oleander from our back yard. His crew did the stump grinding and removal and also planted our Blood Orange tree. He has good workers who show up on time and take great care in not damaging surrounding plants and our roof. Before discovering Reliable Tree Service years ago, we had tried a couple of different tree trimming services and were very disappointed in them. One managed to put a hole in our roof, another damaged our concrete driveway and also dropped a large branch on their foreman, breaking his leg. As long as Reliable Tree Service is around, they are the only landscaping and tree service we will use.

Mr. Brown, at the end of his review of the work required, indicated that an estimate would be provided in 2-3 days. As of today (January 27, 2015), no estimate has been provided, nor any contact. He is obviously not interested in the job which is fine. He, however, should have let us know. We would question his company's name--"Reliable". We have subsequently had the work satisfactorily completed by another landscaper, Sotero Fernandez Tree Care.

It was fine. They showed up on time, they were professional, and cleaned up themselves.

Although Reliable Tree Service was professional and responsive, I went with a contractor that estimated $50 less.

We've used him several times. After a few calls , he came to our house and provided estimate within a few days. Took down a large 25 foot tree in our front yard and did trim work on the bushes. All in one day. Trustworthy and business like. We will always use him.

The owner stayed with the crew all day, which made communication very easy. Although his estimate was a bit higher than another service, I chose Reliable because the owner explained his reasoning why I should not cut back the trees so severely, as I had been doing. So I was willing to give it a try. I have lots of trees and shrubs, and they grow fast, so this sounded like a good plan.

They came out when they said they would. Removed the tress and did a great job. Cleaned up all the cuttings and removed everything from my property.

Seemed fine except I wanted the height of the trees to be lower. Was told too much topping would not be healthy for the trees. The people who performed the work did not seem to know exactly what work was to be done.

Reliable proved to be anything but when it came to calling when he said he would. He was scheduled to come by to look at the tree and he didn't show and didn't call until a few days later. When he finally did make it over to my house, I was favorably impressed with what he had to say about the tree and how he would prune it. Even though Reliable's was not the lowest estimate that we got, we were going to use them for the job. But my husband decided that he would prune the tree himself, so we didn't end up hiring Reliable. If my husband gives up before the job is finished, we will definitely get a new estimate from Reliable and would probably use them.

They did excellent work. They did good clean up. I worked with Dave the owner. I have used them before.

Reliable was recommended to us by a neighbor. Though a time or two the schedule was changed, I feel they are responsive, personable and deliver high quality mix of wood at a fair price. In addition, they seem to really know the right way to approach tree trimming, and that's what I'll be asking them to do next for me.

I can't say enough good things about Dave Brown and the guys at Reliable Tree Service. They are awesome. The whole project started when I called Dave to give us a bid for trimming the giant pine trees in our backyard in October. He came out promptly and gave us a good bid (we had used him for this service a few years ago). I called him back on 10/30/13 and gave him the go-ahead to do the trimming and landscape removal. His guys were there early the next morning and before the day was done they had trimmed all the trees and removed 2 ficus trees and a bunch of overgrown plant material in the planters. They even removed a bunch of pine needles from our aluminum patio cover. I also had him spray-kill the existing lawn in preparation for a complete re-landscape of the backyard, and got a good bid for the concrete/flagstone and electrical work needed to prepare a place for a new above-ground spa we had ordered. He hooked us up with a good electrician who advised us on running the new power line for the spa, and his guys finished the prep work in plenty of time for the spa delivery on 11/21/13. Next, his guys removed the old (now dead) lawn, put in all-new irrigation (which was impossible before the removal of the Ficus trees) and ran the necessary plumbing to the water main at the front of the house. Then they put in a nice assortment of drought-resistant plants in the planters and a new Marathon I sod lawn, with a new sprinkler timer that could handle the additional watering zones. Finally, on 12/18 and 12/19 he came by and pressure-washed our entire backyard masonry and concrete, and also the front driveway, walkway and garage door. Everything was completed on budget and on time for our family Christmas party on 12/21/13. I would highly recommend Reliable Tree Service for all of the services they performed at my property.

The job went very well. The person doing the estimate was quite late, but he did call when he was on his way. The work crew arrived early and included 5 men with two vehicles. They were fabulous in every way. They knew precisely what to do and began to work immediately after I showed them the what and where. They even planted a couple of extra plants which I added to the cost. They were very personable and did an excellent job of removing all of the clippings. It was hard to find someone who would do an assortment of things. I highly recommend them and will use them in the future.

I arranged to meet with Dave on April 1 for an estimate on the trimming and shaping of five large twisted junipers in a confined area in my back yard, and the removal of another large tree that was growing against my block wall. All trees were in a very confined area. Dave was very responsive and knowledgeable. He gave me an estimate at that time, and we agreed to a date for the work. I had previously had a guy out from a different company come look at the project; He was going to send me an estimate, but I never heard from him again. I was, therefore, pleased with Dave's responsiveness. Dave's guys arrived on the agreed to day (although a few hours later than expected due to a previous job), and began work on the project. They were very friendly and thorough, and worked very hard. The gentleman doing the shaping and removal of the trees did an excellent job. They were careful not to cause any surrounding damage, and cleaned up my yard, as well as any branches falling into the neighbors' yard. All debris was cleaned up and hauled away. I couldn't be happier with the work they did.

I have used Reliable Tree Service for years. Our yard is very large and requires a lot of tree trimming, pruning and tender loving care to keep it looking its best. I call upon Dave Brown at least once or twice a year. I really appreciate that Dave Brown walks our job each time and assess' the work personally and when the work is done he re-walks the job with you to ensure you are happy. Dave and his crew come in and get the job done quickly. I find him very reliable and his work is reasonably priced as well.

He came out within 36 hours to take care of the problem. He left the place sparkling and did a huge amount of work. I have used him five times in the past and will continue to use him in the future. His price is competitive.

Dave responded immediately to my request for a bid - next day. We agreed on a price and a scope of work during the bid. His team came out two days later to complete the work. Very pleased with the results. He trimmed a very large pepper tree, two very tall palms, and several other trees. Also, the team removed a substantial amount of dead brush and bushes. They ground it all up and hauled it all away. Same day. Took the crew of 6 maybe 4-5 hours to perform all of the work. Very pleased. Would use them again. Mark

Dave came out to give estimate. He was knowledgeable and thorough. Asked all the right questions. He even said his team could demolish and haul away the old shed we were going to get rid of. We scheduled him to do the work 2 weeks later (he could have done it sooner, but we needed time to clear out the shed). He let me know that they'd have several large trucks, dumpsters, etc, and to clear the driveway and if possible, leave the street clear for the equipment. His team arrived right on time and began work immediately. They were thorough and knowledgeable. The palm tree was at the back corner of our property, so fronds and debris fell into adjacent yards. They made sure to clean up those yards as well as ours. Everything went smoothly and they were out of here in less than 4 hours (although there is stil a bobcat in my driveway - they'll be back).

I've used them for 15 years. It went great. I rate them highly.

Outstanding; reported on time and did not waste time having his crew cut and remove the tree. Courteous service and allowed him to advertise his sign on our lawn.

Great job with no problems. The service was simple and they cleaned up everything afterwards.

I called and set up a Saturday morning meeting to discuss a large tree cutting and chipping project. Dave did not show up for the appointment. One hour later we called him. He did not apologize and said he hadn't planned his day very well. We told him to forget about rescheduling the appointment. He might want to change the name of his company.
