They have already done one room and they have been extremely responsive, very professional, very careful, and excellent quality of work. I can't say enough good things and they really did a great job.

Mike came out to look at the job and I had my estimate the same afternoon. Although he was not the least expensive of my estimates, he was within a few hundred dollars. His estimate was the most comprehensive. On the scheduled date his workmen showed up promptly and started working immediately. They very carefully removed all my furniture and the bottom of all the baseboards. They then plastic sheeted off the rooms from the rest of the house and all the cabinets and items that were left on the walls to keep the dust down. Even though they use a dustless system, there is still dust involved. The plastic sheeting did an excellent job of keeping the dust from the rest of the house. Once the sanding was finished the guys applied several different stain options from which I could choose. They even mixed stains to get the perfect match to the original walnut color. Their goal was to make me happy. Each day the workmen were prompt and cleaned up their materials at the end of the day. The job took a little longer than expected, but it didn't matter. The end result was worth the wait.

They are phenomenal. They are very expensive but they are worth it. They are great. They are like the Picasso of floors. My mother has a really nice home. We went and looked at seven different floors and we’d actually gone to the houses where they had refinished the wood floors. My mum’s house was built in the 1940’s and so we cannot put in new wood floors. The floors that are there have to just be refinished. A lot of them had floor marks and uneven staining and everything. This is the one company that gave us the addresses and we went to the houses and had a look at the work that Mike did. The people were really nice and they let us in their home. They showed us the work he did which is really nice. They actually came to our house and did twelve different stains on some parts of my mother’s wood floors, so that she could decide which color was the best. They are great. It’s like a family business for years. They do such incredible work. They did an incredible job. They sent one of the guys out and he was able to just fix the job for me in a minimal amount of money, and you can’t even tell where it was fixed. So he didn’t have to rip off half the room and redo it. Mike is a very patient and an old school generation guy but he is expensive. My mom is very picky and she wanted a good job done even though it would be expensive. If money wasn’t an object, I would use him all the time. The price was great for the work that they did. He is expensive but it’s worth it. His price is not a bargain. He’s like a master craftsman. He can fix bizarre things like somebody else wouldn’t be able to do. I would use his services again in the future.

This is second time we've used Mike Pillar and Sons to install our hardwood floors. In our old house they did a fantastic job, so this time, in our new home we did not even shop around. We knew it would be done right, and we weren't disappointed. Mike, as always, was the consumate professional when he arrived to estimate the job. We pointed out that the slab was not even and he assured us he could grind it down and level it with leveling compound. In reality the floor was a lot more uneven and Mike's crew needed 20 bags of leveling compound for the job...much more than he estimated so he had to up the price by about $800 to cover the cost. Mike's crew - two veteran floor installers, both named Antonio arrived right on time. They immediately got to work pulling up the carpet, bagging the chandeliers and blinds, and moving the furniture. We have a large centrally located white marble fireplace in the center of the house. It is approximately 10 feet long and 5 feet wide standing like a center pole in a teepee. The white marble is jagged and goes right down to floor level. We were very concerned that the wood cuts would not fit to the jagged marble. We shouldn't have worried as the Antonio's take pride in their ability to make the cuts. They used a jigsaw to cut the wood perfectly. They must have made over 100 cuts and they were all done to perfection. It looks like the fireplace was put in after the floor was installed because the cuts are shaped so perfect. They also had 4 ten foot wide steps to bullnose. The bullnose pieces from the factory were not in and they would have been too short so the Antonio's fashion the bullnose out of single pieces of Mahogany and stained them to match the chestnut. You can't tell the difference and they look beautiful. Lastly, we weren't happy with a few boards. Without hesitation or argument, Mike's guys came back to remove the offending boards and install new ones. Once again....it's perfect. Our entire job took over a week and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. Do not hesitate to call Mike Pillar and Son's. They are perfectionists and the results show it.

I was given an estimate and scheduled the service a week after the estimate date. Two employees came on time and spent two complete days at my house. The 1st day they repaired two sections of buckled flooring and then sanded the floor. The second day, the floor was stained and 3 coats of finish were applied. Towards the end of the 1st day, one of the owners stopped by to see the work in progress. The whole process went very smoothly and professionally.

I had a great experience with this company. They were professional, showed up on time everyday and were very friendly. They made sure every day that I was happy with their work before proceeding to the next step. I also have two dogs and was very worried about them getting out while the men were coming in and out of the house during the day - because I was at work most of the time while they were in my house working. They took great care with the dogs to make sure they were safe. I also completely trusted them alone in my home all day. They also did a great job moving our very heavy furniture in and out of the rooms that they were working on. I was very happy with the final result - our floors look absolutely beautiful. We paid around $5K for this job - but it was worth every penny. I will use this company again in the future. On another note - Mike (the owner) came over to the house to check out the space prior to starting the job. When he discovered that there was already good hardwood flooring in a room that previously had carpet - he told me that I did not have to put new wood planks down - that I could just re-sand the existing wood floor and it would be beautiful. (and it was). He cancelled the order for the new wood and took $600 off of my bill. I was so appreciative of his honestly - and I knew that he (and his company) were the real deal. I HIGHLY recommend them!

From estimate to end product, this company was professional, thorough and reasonably priced. We were extremely happy with their work.

Really well. When we ran into an issue with the closet doors not sliding properly (due to the carpet removal) the workmen were kind enough to fashion a slider for us attached to some spare hardwood. I think the price is reasonable, we didn't have much time to shop around.

They were satisfactory. I had to buy $150.00 worth of material to do one square foot's worth of work.

They had done the rest of my house in 2008. Each time both the office staff and the on-site installers were professional, prompt, qualified, and friendly. The price, while not cheap (hardwood floors never are), they were very fair, easily not the priciest. I would use them again if I had any more floors to refinish and definitely recommend them to others.

The entire process from initial contact through follow up was great. Mike explained that the floor would likely need to be leveled in order to properly install the flooring, and quoted a price per bag of leveling cement. The installation team arrived on time each day and involved me in any issues/questions that arose. Jose (the lead installer) was very good at keeping me informed of options and potential solutions for tricky areas around the fireplace and transitions to other flooring surfaces. The floor did indeed need leveling as he demonstated to me with their level, and they kept to the price as quoted. Subsequent to the installation, they scheduled a follow up visit to check on a couple of areas and were very helpful in making sure we were completely satisfied with the work. I would definitely use them again and would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

The were very professional and knowledgeable. Not the cheapest, but great quality and Mike really worked with me to find a solution to my tricky floor/stair situation at a reasonable price. I interviewed several companies and Mike was the only person who proposed replacing my carpeted stairs with solid wood -- the others wanted to "wrap" my stairs (for about the same price), an inferior installation method as I understand it. Mike's workers were professional, clean and very helpful -- they all had a great attitude and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the result. Would definitely recommend.

They are punctual. They have a good price. We always call them with our floor needs and we have recommended them.

They were fine. They came on time and everything worked fine. I would hire them again.

It was great! We got a quote on a Friday (Mike provided several options, i.e. just fixing the two areas, doing the two rooms, and re-doing the hardwoods in the other rooms as well) and when we called them the following Tuesday, they were able to schedule the start for the following day (the week before Christmas). The process took 3 days (including the staining, when they would stain, leave, come back 4-5 hours later for another layer). The installers moved the furniture out (and then back in), covered everything with plastic, sealed off rooms and were prompt, courteous and extremely professional. They came back on Saturday morning to move the furniture back in.

It took twice as long and they only put on 3 coats, as I needed my house back. They did adjust the price. They did a good job of furniture moving- the floors look fine, some spaces between boards have become evident in the past few months. I wouldn't use again- the extra expense in boarding pets and finding places for us to sleep made the whole experience unpleasant- it seemed like we were just listening to reasons why they couldn't do what they promised once they started.

It was an EXCELLENT experience. Mike showed up promptly for the estimate, and it was very reasonable. He was professional in every sense of the word. We scheduled an appointment for the refinishers for about 1 week later. On the first day two refinishers (Miguel and Miguel) showed up promptly, told me what to expect, and how long they thought it would take. They did the patch work first and it looked great. On the second day they did most of the sanding. On the third they finished sanding and stained the new floor. They coated the floor on the 4th day. These two guys are tops. They were courteous, they were friendly, they didn't mind my dogs, they worked fast, and they were on time. Best of all my floors look fantastic....as good as new..maybe better!! I recommend this company very highly. I give them an A++++

Pillar did an AMAZING job. Mike Pillar came to look at our floor and give me an estimate, and I received the estimate promptly by email. When we decided to go ahead with the job, we received additional paperwork by email as well -- so much easier! Their installation men, Jose & Luis, were prompt, polite, respectful of our stuff, and did a really really beautiful job matching up the flooring pattern and the color of the stain. They moved all the furniture out of the room, took the pictures off the wall, sealed everything off with plastic, and at the end of the day tried to make it as easy as possible for us to get around in the house despite the plastic sheeting, etc. They asked questions to be sure they were doing things as we wanted, and were extremely easy to work with. The seam between the existing and new floors is virtually undetectable. In addition, the original estimate was that the work would take 7 to 8 days, and they did all the work in 5 days, coming back the morning of the 6th day only to move back the furniture. I even discovered that they had numbered the pictures they took off the wall with a bit of masking tape, and numbered the corresponding wall hangers, to be sure they rehung the pictures in the right place! The office staff is also very pleasant and helpful. I had to call once or twice with questions, have spoken to both Wendy and Nancy, and always felt that my call was important and that they were trying hard to provide with the best possible service. I am very pleased both with the new floor, and with my experience with the company.

The installers that came out were excellent. They came in and go the job done quickly and they did a very professional job. With hardwood floors the installation is critical and I know that they did a fantastic job for me and we had no problems with them at all.

When I went into their showroom they were excellent. They were very helpful and had good variety to choose from. They would let us take samples home. They were very patient with us, as we came back and forth for 2 months.

The workmen who came to my house were very trustworthy and clean. I'm fussy about things like that. When a small problem arose with some of the flooring material being chipped, they gladly came out and replaced it. I have been so happy with this company that I have had them do another floor refinishing job in the downstairs part of our house. Although they did make some small dents in the walls during this job that I wasn't happy about, in general I was very pleased. They will tell you the truth about what to expect with the jobs they do and I appreciate that.

Price seemed high at first, but in retrospect was very fair based upon the work that they put in, especially on the stairs and stair parts. Job looks wonderful and I expect will continue to do so. They went above our expectations in doing things like applying some new molding and replacing a piece that they had dinged (such dinging is not unexpected!). They were punctual in their arrival times, and for the most part tidy and friendly. Change order handled fairly and efficiently. Only concern, and they had warned us so it's not so much their fault, was the fact that some of the tape/plastic they used to cover the wall removed some paint . Overall, a job very well done and one that, as homeowners, improved the aesthetic appeal and financial value of the home. I would recommend. I suggest that in addition to calling for an estimate that you go to their store which has a very broad selection of flooring and provides some very good ideas.

They were amazing. They were on time, quiet, and did an amazing job. I'm really happy with everything. They put take on the molding. There were no surprises.

Very well. This is a very professional operation. Two hours before the installation crew was due to arrive, the supplier delivered the materials. When the crew arrived (on time) they worked like Trojans over several days to install the flooring. They carefully moved furniture aside and then moved it back room-by-room. They removed all the old carpet and materials and cleaned up after completing each room. After pulling the carpet for one of the rooms, they discovered that the room's sub floor was warped. They replaced the warped sections of sub floor at a reasonable price. When the workmen pulled the sub floor to our second story bedroom leaving the floor joists exposed, one of the workman stepped through the joists and broke the ceiling to the floor below. Without any argument, they accepted responsibility and within three days repaired the damage. This is a very professional operation.
