Description of Work: Sanded and refinished hardwood floors in my kitchen and great room. Fantastic job! Dust was kept to a minimum and they were very neat. They had taken pictures before they moved the furniture so they put it back exactly where it was. Those 2 rooms flowed into other rooms which I did not need to refinish; they did a great job in matching the color and finding the right spots to start and stop so that the difference between newly sanded and stained surface and the old surface is virtually undetectable. Very professional!

Description of Work: They refinished my hardwood floors. My only complaint is that in one area where there was a gap, they filled the gap but it has reopened again already. This in in flooring that they installed about 13 years ago. I understand that wood "breathes" but it is bothersome. I would use them again though, they are professional, fast and clean.

Description of Work: Thank you for the opportunity to tell you my experience with the sales person from Mike Pillar & Sons who came to my home to give me an estimate to screen and re-coat 300 sq.ft. of engineered wood. |I don't pretend to know everything about hardwood floors, and maybe what was suggested could be done. But what was quoted was not what I had requested. I wanted a screening and resurface of 300' of engineered wood. The instructions for this procedure, briefly, are to "clean the floor"; "Abrade the floor"; Apply Polyurethane finish". The salesman walked through the area where the wood floor is installed and told me that they could come in and sand the floor, I could pick the color of the stain, and the floor would be re-stained. I explained that the floor was engineered wood and I did not want it sanded I wanted it resurfaced. The salesman insisted that a full sanding was the only way to go. He and I went around and around.....his response to my explaining that there was only a very, very thin sheet of veneer applied to inferior wood was to explain to me that when they sanded they only sanded to the depth of a business card and I had nothing to be concerned about. I then fetched a plank of the Anderson wood that is installed in my home and showed him that the thickness of the veneer was in fact only the depth of a business card. But he continued to try to convince me to have the floor sanded and re-stained. |Now, either he did not know what he was talking about (which would be inexcusable) or he was more interested in up selling me than providing the service I wanted. If I had let Pillar & Sons come in and sand my floor the veneer would be gone and all I would have left is a floor of plywood that would have been a disaster! The flooring would have been destroyed. The quote I received noted: "the floor may be too thin to sand"! Duh! | |I have had the work done to my satisfaction for significantly less than the $1600.00 Mike Pillar and Sons quoted for the wrong procedure. The service I wanted should have costs between $600 and $800. Quite a difference. I'm sure Mike Pillar and Sons have their side too. I'll be anxiously awaiting a response. |

Description of Work: Fabulous workmanship, the floors are gorgeous. Very professional, reliable, friendly, with high grade equipment. I requested to be used as a future reference, they are truly floor experts.

Description of Work: They put hardwood flooring in the kitchen and refinished our wood floor in the hall, living room and den. They come back every few years to put the polyurethane on the floor.

Description of Work: I had my about 1000 sq feet of my hardwood floors refinished. They were sanded, stained and polyurethaned within 4 days.
