The first big rain in LA in three years made the rain gutters separate from the house so it sounded like a waterfall. I was afraid of what would happen during the next storm so I requested an appointment through Angie's List messaging and Halo Roofing replied promptly to schedule a phone call. Avi came the following day to provide a detailed estimate, which was emailed the same day on professional letterhead. I've dealt with a lot of contractors that simply email the price without details so this was definitely a plus for me. I explained to him how quickly I wanted the job completed and the work was done within the week (and it was the holidays). Day after Christmas and the workers arrived on time and ready to work. Everything looks good for now, but I'll have to wait for the next rain to really speak of the quality of work. Overall, very happy with Halo Roofing's response and professionalism.

They worked really fast, which was a blessing as it was must before Christmas week. In fact, they finished in three days. After all the work was done, they cleaned up really well. The roof looks wonderful.
Description of Work: Covered my old roof with tarp until they could come and reroof. Then, removed old roof, put down new wood panels, shingles, flashing, and so on.

I had to postpone my review to see if the repairs held up through the rain storm...all is good. Halo is a great company, customer service is extremely important to me, and they are stellar in this department. Punctual for estimate appointment and when the work was to be done. Herb came out for the estimate and was very professional, and Avi was good with following up and returning phone calls. I had a slight issue with a small section of the work that was done, they sent someone out immediately to address the issue and make the repair. Thanks

I needed to completely replace my roof on both the house and garage. I got several comparable estimates and choose HALO ROOFING. I?m very glad I did. The crew was on time each day, friendly, listened to my concerns and gave each of my questions equal weight. They removed the existing layers down to the sheathing. They hauled away all debris at the end of each day. They replaced all flashing and chimney flashing. They suggested the color for my roof, which was a perfect choice. They sealed everything and painted all pipes and vents to match the roof. They installed a Cobra Ridge Vent attic, ventilation system to the ridges of the roof. This has helped even the temperature through out the entire house. They completed the job in the time frame settled on and cleaned up completely when finished. They did a walk through with me when the job was concluded to make sure I was completely happy. The warranty they offer is amazing and I am completely satisfied and would gladly recommend HALO ROOFING.

It went fine for the most part but I have to dock them somewhat on the grade because when the removed the old gutter over my deck they ended up accidentally pouring all the gravel from my gravel roof that had collected in them onto my wood deck and they didn't really clean it up. This left a ton of little rocks wedged between the deck boards. Otherwise they did fine and the gutters look nice. They were able to install them two stories up without the use of scaffolding or a ladder on a hillside home by working from the roof. All the other quotes I got were insisting they would need to set up scaffolding. They also have a great Angies list deal for gutters that you can buy multiple times to reduce the cost. I would likely call them again and just be aware of watching out for a little sloppiness in regards to the roof gravel.

There were no troubles with scheduling and he was able to come out within a few days after purchasing the deal. The guy was professional and I was very pleased with his service. There were no issues at all. There was no mess left and he cleaned up so well that you wouldn’t even have known he was there except for the new gutters. It was a fantastic experience! I would absolutely hire him again and have already talked with him about a new roof.

After the work was done, it rained they came and took care of a small leak. The technician came and fixed it. I let the technician know that a dumpster they used damaged my driveway. They have never fixed this. They suggested it could have been done by an earthquake. Plywood should have been applied for the dumpster to prevent damage. The driveway is now breaking where two pieces meet. They offered to fix it, but I wanted an expert to investigate the concrete issueI have been waiting almost 3 weeks while they assess it. Update (Email I sent to the company on 10/27/2014): Hello everyone, Good morning. Up until last night, I was not aware Angie's List had posted my experience on their website. I did read the company response and noticed many inaccuracies on your behalf. First of all Halo Roofing did not immediately respond to have the water leak. I called on Saturday afternoon to report the leak and Juan your employee arrived the following Saturday morning to perform the repairs. What difference does it make if it took six months to notify Halo Roofing of the damaged driveway. It is not my responsibility to inspect your work. In your response on Angie's List, "However, our company policy is to always use plywood underneath any roll off dumpster and underneath out own trucks, to collect the roofing debris," no plywood sheets were ever used. In fact, I never knew plywood sheets are placed underneath a dumpster until your employee Juan mentioned when the repairs were done to the roof. AS I HAVE STATED IN THE PAST MULTIPLE TIMES, YOUR EMPLOYEE JUAN ADMITTED THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY THE DUMPSTER!!! JUAN STATED PLYWOOD SHEETS NEEDED TO HAVE BEEN PLACED UNDERNEATH. HOW MANY TIMES DO I NEED TO MENTION THIS!!! Halo Roofing did not immediately contact me when I first communicated the damaged driveway. I spoke to Carinne and waited two weeks to call and follow up. I could not take time off work from work to meet with any Halo Roofing representative. I have insisted in communicating via email because I can't take time off work to call the company. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT!!! The driveway has cracks, but the concrete does not fall out. Either your guys or different resource moved the dumpster further into the driveway. How I know it was moved, the first night after the dumpster was delivered, I needed to park my car on the lawn to be able to close the driveway door. Once the roof tear off begun, I no longer needed to park my car on the lawn to close the driveway door. Enough room was made were my car could be parked on the driveway and close the close the door behind it. I did contact the City of El Monte this morning and asked if it would have been possible to park the dumpster on a public street. I was told yes with a permit from public works. If Halo Roofing would have coordinated this permit, all of this driveway issue would have been avoided. Halo Roofing failed to coordinate a proper place to park this dumpster. Most likely the dumpster should have not been parked on the driveway due to the weight of it. Refusal of release of liability was done because Halo Roofing was to perform the repairs on the driveway. Your company specializes in roofs. What if release of liability was done and with time, the driveway breaks as a result of the dumpster improperly placed on driveway that now compromised concrete structure. I mentioned going to the media, a lawsuit, contacting Better Business Bureau and posting honest reviews since Halo Roofing has delayed resolving the damaged driveway. It is not against the law to report honestly. It takes many days to get a response from your company. In fact, it has been over TWO months since I last received any communication from Halo Roofing. It has been THREE months and still no concrete assessment has been completed. WHY WAS THAT NOT INCLUDED IN YOUR COMPANY RESPONSE ON Angie's List? Halo Roofing has been given access to the property without my presence since the beginning of this matter ... Avi came, then Avi and Herb... then Ron and the concrete specialist, "We finally received [member name removed] approval to independently view the driveway without his presence." Also include in your company response, Ron Halo's Roofing owner verbally agreed to install three vents on the garage at no charge when the first estimate took place. When I received the final estimate, the vents were not included. I called Halo Roofing and was told to write in the free vents myself. Once the roof was installed, the vents weren't, I called the company and mentioned it. I have also believe the flashing around the chimney was probably not replaced by a new one as told. I noticed all the flashing was removed, but not around the chimney. It has the appearance of being painted to look as if it were new. It is not my responsibility to check the work Halo Roofing was hired to do. Everything should have been inspected once the work was completed by Halo Roofing Company not me. Just imagine, all this could have been avoided if your project manager did his job. The dumpster was delivered a day before Avi stated. If the dumpster would have been delivered on the scheduled date, Juan would have placed the plywood sheets on the driveway as he stated he does when a dumpster is delivered. And if Avi would have asked the City of El Monte about parking the dumpster on public street, this issue would not exist. I sincerely hope this issue is resolved soon. Again, I have been very generous with my patience, but this matter is taking way too long to solve. All I ask if for the damaged area of the driveway to be properly repaired. I have contacted Google Earth for satellite images of before and after the dumpster was delivered and picked up. I will ask Angie's List to place this email on their website. By the way I reached out to GAF this morning to get assistance in resolving this issue.

Response from Halo Construction Group
In October of 2013 we performed a re-roofing job for [member name removed] who had no complaints upon making final payment for the job. In March of 2014 [member name removed] contacted us about a leak in his mother’s new roof. We immediately responded and sent out someone to fix a minor flashing issue which took care of the leak. It was at this time he expressed to our repair man that he was upset about the driveway being chipped along the outside edge. This was unexpected as it was the first time that we had heard anything about his driveway for approximately 6 months after the job was completed. There had been no calls or report of any damage before then. [member name removed] claims that we had cracked the driveway by failing to use plywood underneath the roll off, to protect the concrete. However, our company policy is to always use plywood underneath any roll off dumpster and underneath out own trucks, to collect the roofing debris. As soon as [member name removed] complained of the cracks in the driveway, we immediately attempted to contact him to set up an appointment. [member name removed] was not able to meet us to assess the damages. He insisted in only communicating via email, which made it difficult for us to resolve the issue. We finally received [member name removed] approval to independently view the driveway without his presence. Upon arrive we found a very old/worn driveway with quite a few small and large cracks throughout the entire surface that extended out through the walkway and the driveway leading towards the backyard. The damaged segment that [member name removed] was referring to was one of many portions of minor repair attempts in the past. The damage was slight chipping along the outside edge of the concrete and these cracks continue to the inside of his gate, far beyond where the roll off was parked during the job. We contacted [member name removed] with the results of our inspection. We explained to him that the cracks and the chips could not have been correlated to the alleged damages. The wear of the concrete extended far beyond the placement of the equipment (the roll off was placed just outside his gate by the roll off company). He then claimed that we had pushed the roll off back into the back portion of the driveway where the alleged damage is, and the put it back to its original location. Considering the roll off size and its listed weight of over 6,000 lbs. empty it was not plausible for our men to move the roll off in any way, and that it would have been impossible to move once it was full. As Angie’s list super service award winner for 3 years running, we truly do take pride in the superior customer service we are able to provide to clientele Despite the implausible accusation (or the misconception of this previous work “incident”), we do still care about our customer’s satisfaction; therefore we offered a cosmetic repair, free of charge. Since we always strive for 100% customer satisfaction, in good faith we offered to repair the minor cracks that [member name removed] was referring to, at our cost. In return we asked that he would sign a Release of Liability form to hold us harmless against any further driveway related issues acknowledging that we are not claiming responsibility for the alleged damaged or any other, in the future. He refused to sign the document permitting us to complete the specified work. Because of his disapproval he unfortunately threatened our company with lawsuits, bad reviews, reports to BBB, and even reporting to new channels. We want all our customers to be pleased with the work we do and we will go to great lengths to make sure that happens. We make sure to listen, assess and draw out a plan for the concerns our clients have, promptly. For [member name removed] it was fixing his leak in March 2014 and planning the repairs for the chips on his driveway. Because [member name removed] waited 6 months to let us know there were any problems with the driveway, we were not aware of any concerns he had. We are not sure what happened to [member name removed] driveway during the 6 months after our roofing job was completed and we are sorry that [member name removed] is not pleased with any of the offers we suggested. [member name removed] stated that he wanted a licensed concrete specialist to evaluate his driveway, which we gladly hired. We still are waiting for the final written assessment from a third party concrete specialist, so we can proceed with any repairs requested.

In one day during the heat of the summer, Halo Roofing repaired the garage roof, including removing cement tile, installing two layers of TU-35 underpayment, replacing flashing, resetting and refastening tile, replacing damaged tile, and doing maintenance on the rest of the roof. The next day they replaced the gutters on the west end of our home and installed gutter leaf guards. They showed up on time and completed the job promptly. Once the rains start this fall I guess we will know for sure if it worked!

The estimator arrived on time and we had a discussion regarding a very minor roof repair (a few asphalt shingles on a shed and a brick from base of fireplace that had come loose) and a repair to a window sill. He said he would provide a quote, I shook his hand after confirming that the next step was that he would email me a quote and I left for work. He did not mention any need to access either roof and I assumed he was taking off as well.(this was not surprising, as the needed repair was visible from ground level). After I got to work, my wife called frightened because she heard noises coming from the roof/yard. Turns out the estimator stayed behind and was on the roof. OK, so there must have been a miscommunication, and the guy felt he needed to go up which I interpreted as him being thorough. I eventually got a quote for $3,500, an amount that seemed extremely high. I live in an expensive neighborhood and it is not uncommon for estimates to come in very high. Having had roof work done in the past at this home and at several rentals, I had some serious concerns. I dug up the number of a roofer I had used in the past and had good results with (a fully insured, licensed outfit). This guy came out, did a quick ground level evaluation and left. The quote then came in at around $2,800 less! This guy came a few days later, did the job in a few hours and was done. The worker was very professional and easy to deal with. Sure glad I was able to find that number! You be the judge- $3,500 for a job that took one guy a short time to carry out with minimal material costs for a few shingles? I feel like I dodged a bullet on this one.

I really dont know what grade to give this company, since it started so badly, but they remedied the situation. I had a Big Deal coupon to install a section of gutters. The guy came on a Tuesday to look at the house, measure, and discuss colors. He was charging $75 per downspout extra to have them installed, so I said I'd handle that myself. I'd purchase them at Lowe's where they were advertising them online for beginning at under $10. He said he had to charge $75 because he had to drive to the store to get them. I said no, I will have my handyman take care of them. Plus, I wanted flexible downspouts. He said he'd never heard of them. There was a lot of back and forth discussion about which date the intallation date would be. I said Tuesdays and Fridays were usually good days for me, but with Fridays I would have to have at least a week's advance notice to clear my work schedule. We settled on the following Tuesday. Three days later, at 11pm, I happened to take the trash out to the bins in the back of the house and in the darkness saw gutters and rigid downspouts on my house. No one had called me to tell me they'd been installed (on a day I hadn't requested and when I wasn't home). I was very angry and checked my security cameras. They showed a different guy climbing multiple times over my locked gate with materials. Since it was midnight, I waited until first thing the following morning to leave an angry message on the company phone. Avi called me back and said I had said I was available some Fridays. I reminded him of what I had actually said, and of our actual appointment for Tuesday of next week, that the man had installed downspouts which I didn't want, and they were the wrong kind and in the wrong places. I also told him I was about to go to the police station and make a trespassing report, since his guy had climbed over my locked gate. I told him I wanted him to return on our appointed date to fix them, and I wanted him to install the flexible downspouts that I had since purchased, at no charge. He was apologetic and he and his guy arrived the following Tuesday to fix everything. I talked to his guy at length about how he absolutely cannot come to a house without an appt, with no one answering the phone or door, no car in the driveway, with locked side gates, but climb onto the property anyway. He said he did that all the time! Then he remembered one time when the wife had given the go ahead while she was at work, but forgot to inform her husband back at home. The installer went to the house, climbed over the locked gate and to his surprise, the husband came out of the house and started beating him up! After remembering that situation, he told me he finally understood what I was saying.

Firstly, we would like to emphatically apologize for the mishap with the individual who had installed the gutters when you were not home. Our company does not authorize our employees to perform jobs when the customer is not home unless we are given approval by the customers themselves. Unfortunately, in this case there seems to have been a lot of miscommunication not only regarding appointment time but the type of materials used instead. To address the downspout issue, the gutters and downspouts we use are custom made only and cannot be purchased at any stores such as Lowe's. We are not sure where the misunderstanding occurred, however, the charge for the downspouts is the cost for labor and materials. Even though you purchased the downspout from the store it was not able to fit with your current gutters and we ended up installing our custom downspout for you at no additional cost. We discussed the appointment issue with Avi and he has it in his records that while you did go back and forth on appointment times, the agreed date for the work was indeed on Friday. The worker did come to your house at the correct appointment time, not at a random time like you expressed. The miscommunication happened when he believed we had consent to do work while you were not home, which we are terribly sorry for. Rest assured that only if we have approval from our customers first will we come to do work when no one is home. HALO Roofing

My home is not a large home and is definately not 3 times larger than a typical home. I feel that the advertisement and the reviews posted were completely misleading and I would rather deal with a company in my local area of my own choosing to do this work. I was only going to use this company because of the good deal they were offering. At $2100.00 even with the vouchers it is not a good deal.
Description of Work: Although the contractor was responsive and came out promptly to give a bid, the bid was $2100.00 for work that was promised to be covered by the 3 purchased vouchers for a typical home.

Response from Halo Construction Group
We do apologize that you feel your proposal was too expensive, however, you were getting a fantastic deal. Your home was not the typical home in regards to the gutter work which is why it did end up being more expensive. A typical gutter job is around 75 lineal ft. Your home required over 200 lineal ft. of gutters, 9 downspouts and almost 200 ft. of gutter removal. Without the coupons a job like this would have cost over $2,400. The amount on your proposal did not include the discount from your coupon. The actual amount you would have paid for the job would have been $1,500. We do apologize for any confusion there may have been in understanding the proposal amount. However, as you can see, with the purchase of the coupons you got a price of $1,500 which ended up saving you quite a bit of money. We do hope that in the future if there is any confusion on pricing or your proposal to please call the office as our experts want to insure that every customer has all of their questions answered. We used HALO before to replace our entire roof last year. When I saw that they had a big deal for gutter replacement, I jumped at the offer. We recently had our house repainted and the painters did not feel comfortable reinstalling the gutters, so we took this opportunity to use the big deal to have the gutters replaced for $99. We paid an extra $75 for the downspout, but that was an expected expense. Communication with HALO was great, as usual. I exchanged a couple of emails with Avi to schedule the appointment. I was flexible with the date, since I was in no rush to get the gutters replaced. They arrived when they said they would, did the job, and left. No drama. Gutters looked great. We survived the last rainstorm without incident. I'm a happy camper!

Halo followed the agreement to the letter. A rep came out the afternoon I called and they had a two-man crew complete the job within a week of the initial contact. The actual work took slightly more than one day. I mentioned there was no urgency since there was no rain the forecast or they probably would have finished sooner. However, I am waiting for the next rain to ensure their work fixed the problem. I am fairly confident the problem was corrected since one of the guys told me they found the exact location which was in a drainage valley. I was very satisfied with their responsiveness and professionalism.
Description of Work: Replaced a section of the roof over the dining room due to a substantial leak into that room.

Description of Work: Examined the leak area, re-roofed that section of the roof as well as re-sealed the skylights. They also noted an area of dryrot that they fixed as well. I had just had exterior painted and my painters didn't point out to me but Halo did.

They came to look at the gutters and we came to the conclusion that my roof needed repaired before the work and I have got that done so I will be using them in the next few weeks. They were responsive and thorough. They did follow up to see when I wanted the work done.
Description of Work: This was a Big Deal for $99.00 for 25 lineal feet of gutter replacement. They are going to add a downspout and that will be an additional cost.

I call the Halo Roofing for confirming my appointment on Monday March 10, and the technician cancel my appointment because this deal is only valid for seller and maintenance of the roof. Per halo roof company I am not qualified for this deal since I am buyer. it is very rude to cancel my appointment in the last minute and I don't enjoy the service they give to the client. Not professional at all

We apologize that the appointment was cancelled last minute; however, when you called to make the appointment you withheld information from the representative. Had you provided the representative with all the necessary information she would have informed you that you were not eligible for the Tune-up and Inspection coupon. Furthermore, the fine print on the coupon states clearly what is included and which types of homes are eligible. The type of service you were looking for was not within the scope of the coupon. We did explain that you could get a refund or that we would be able to provide the service you needed at regular cost minus the amount you paid for the coupon. We apologize for the last minute cancellation; however, we do not appreciate those who try to take advantage of our company coupons by emitting information. We do ask that if there are any questions regarding the coupons or what type of service you need to ask our experts when calling to schedule an appointment. HALO Roofing

It went very well. I wish I'd remember the names of the two men that did the work because they were so nice and courteous. I would have loved to give them "personal kudos" here. What really impressed me was that they showed up exactly when they were supposed to and that is a very rare thing among any contractor nowadays. I was also very happy that they could do the job that quickly. They came to my house to do an estimate just a day or two after I called and then came to do the repairs as soon as the raining ceased and the roof had dried. Everyone was very nice starting from the person answering the phones to the ones that did the actual work. I would recommend Halo Roofing in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Repaired/replaced damaged tiles; inspect roof for damaged and/or loose tiles, checked underlayment and repaired as needed, reset and refastened tiles. Maintained roof by sealing around pipes, vents, chimney, satellite dish with Modified Mastic or seal with 40 year caulk as needed. Cleaned gutters and hauled away all debris. Painted pipes and vents with Manufacturer recommended paint. Cleaned up and hauled away.
