Hugo came on time and we walked around the house showing him the things we wanted done. Since it was far more than he could do in only 6 hours, we prioritized the list. He did some of the work and then went to Home Depot for supplies to do the rest of the work. Upon his return, he completed as much as possible in the time we contracted. He had his own tools and was very knowledgable about the tasks - completing them efficiently and with a high quality of workmanship.

I'm new to Angie's List and bought the and quot;Deal of the Dayand quot; without going over this company's review. This was for exterior painting. The tip off should have been when I called and they asked me if I was married or single. Then the sales rep came and he added other services to the paint job. It was not clearly stated to me that the and quot;Deal of the Dayand quot; cost was in addition to the other services he added on. They also offered to do the kitchen floor, but after they took off the carpeting on our kitchen, they alleged that there was asbestos. They tacked on another $3,500 to the cost. However, I was uncomfortable and so I called P.W. Stephens, a reputable asbestos removal company. The rep from P.W. Stephens came and took floor samples. The next day, he called and said there is no asbestos in our kitchen floor. I then called Top Design to cancel the floor job but they said they'd give me another discount. But they even had the nerve to tell me that they were going to do testing but during our prior conversations, they never mentioned testing. They clearly stated to me that I had asbestos on my kitchen floor and even drew out a contract for asbestos removal. I strongly do not recommend this company. They will do hard pressure selling, manipulate you into purchasing more than you want to and even lied to me about asbestos on the kitchen floor. They even discussed taking out a loan so I could get my entire house carpeted, which I kept declining and steered the conversation back to the job at hand.

I bought one of the Angie's List deals for 6 hrs of handyman work for $199. I have bought a similar such deal through Angie's List for a different company and was sorely disappointed, so I was nervous about doing this a second time around. However, I needn't be. The gentleman who they sent over (his name escapes me at the moment) was wonderfully polite, professional, prompt, and did a great job of the 'honey do' list I had been planning on tackling myself (eg, switch out a ceiling light, re-skim the peeling bathroom ceiling, switch out light switches for more contemporary ones, etc). He did a great job, worked diligently throughout (unlike the lazy good-for-nothing that other company sent over), and did a great job cleaning up. I would definitely not hesitate to hire them again (and am seriously considering it again since I just can't keep up w/ my to do list).

I worked with the Two Guy's and David during the whole process. Everyone was extremely friendly and worked around my schedule which was very complicated. They walked me through everything and helped me decide what was the best things to do for my budget. They helped me get a financing plan through Visa with a low APR and tried to help me with the cost as much as possible. When the plan was set in place, they arrived the next morning at 8am to begin work, and came almost every day after that until the work was done. It was efficient and well done. I did have some issues with some of the work, but as soon as I brought them to their attention, the problems were resolved and handled no questions asked, and I was never charged more than I agreed to. I am very pleased with the results and would work with them again.

A Field Supervisor came out on Tuesday and said we would get a call to schedule work by the end of the week. Did not receive a call. Called the Field Supervisor who said someone would call on the first of August. No one called. Contacted the Field Supervisor again on Aug. 3rd and was promised a call to schedule work by the end of the afternoon. No one called. Given my initial impression of the company, I'm not sure I want them working in my home. If a simple phone call to schedule a work date is too difficult, doing actual labor in my home makes me uncomfortable. I would really like a refund and find another company that will follow through.

The deal was for 1600 sq feet, but my house is larger than that. I have a 2 level and it is a tall house, so they wanted to charge an extra $900 for scaffolding. I told them to just go as high as they can go with ladders but they refused to do it. They said they do not want to do a partial job, they would only do it if they could do the whole house. I asked for a quote and they quoted $9200. I canceled my order and will not use them since they won't honor the deal as it was stated. This was twice the cost from another painting company bid I received.

There wasn’t very good communication between us. I wanted to know what my options were and what I needed to buy for them to do the work and how long it would take. He made some calls and they told me it could only install 2 ceiling fans at 3 hours each. I don’t feel like they were being honest about how much work could be done in the 6 hours that i had paid for. I felt like they were trying to do the least amount of work possible for the work that I had paid for. When they called to schedule the appointment to complete the work and I told the receptionist that I was having second thoughts about having them work and was thinking about cancelling. She did not ask any questions or try to remedy the situation. I decided to ask for a refund from Angie's List and find someone else to do the work.

Prior to purchasing Angie's List Big Deal for and quot;6 Man Hours of Handyman Services for $199and quot; I called the vendor (Top Design) and described in detail (including dimensions), the work to be completed. I wanted the floorboards replaced throughout my downstairs area which included my small living room, tiny 1/2 bath, and one wall in my kitchen. The gentleman I spoke to said typically, in the time allotted, 3 good sized rooms could be completed, so I should probably have a small job or two to use up any spare times. I purchased the contract and called to set up the appointment. The gentleman I spoke to instructed me to purchase the floor boards and caulk in advance. The handyman arrived on time and I pointed out what I needed completed and he asked if I had purchased the caulk...I showed him the bottle I had purchased and asked if that enough and he said it should be fine. Then he asked me if I had purchased the nails. The nails??? Really??? I said nobody had said anything about purchasing nails, however, I did have some and I showed him what I had. He replied he needed a specific type of nail strips for HIS nail gun. He offered to go and purchase some (that I would reimburse him for) and I said I would go to the store and get what he wanted (I didn't want to use up his time on a shopping expedition) and he said no, he would need to go because he also needed to purchase a different piece to measure/cut the floorboards because the one he had wasn't wide enough??? He called me from the neighborhood hardware store and said they didn't have the nails and he would go to Home Depot to purchase them. A bit over an hour later he was back and started work. He called me down an hour or so later and said he needed 3 more bottles of caulk which he would go and get...I let him know I would pick up what he needed which is what I did. 4 hours later he let me know he would not be able to finish the job because his allotted time was almost up. He spent the remainder of the time cleaning up the downstairs. The work appeared to be well done, however it was NOT completed. (BTW...he only used a small amount of the caulk out of one bottle, the original bottle I had purchased was still half full ?????) He put me on the phone with his supervisor. I told him I was not happy that the work had not been completed as I now had a living room that had been only partially completed, not to mention the bathroom and kitchen...but at the very least to complete a room and not leave it partially with one type of floorboard and partially with another. I told him the gentleman I had spoken to previously had said there should be more than enough time to complete the job. Although I understood that was not a guarantee...I would have expected the work to be close to completion if not completed. The supervisor offered to sell me another coupon which he stated was and quot;quite the dealand quot; he was making and quot;just for meand quot;...I responded that, at that point, I had no confidence that it would be completed in another day and i felt kind of and quot;taken advantage ofand quot;. It is clear that time management was an issue here on the part of the handyman sent out. I would never use this company again and I would be hesitant to ever purchase a coupon for hours as apposed to job completion. I believe Top Design set out to take advantage of me and was still attempting more of the same after the handyman left and I received yet another call from the company.

They placed a cold call to my home and I agreed to meet with them as I had a project in mind. After a few attempts we met one evening and had a follow up meeting a few days later. Overall, I think I spent close to two hours with them. This started in May and I believe the meeting dates were 5/29 and 6/4. The first meeting resulted in a suggestion as to how to remedy the problem but he wanted to talk it over with his supervisor, which is certainly fair. That's why we agreed to a second meeting. During the second meeting, there was a different approach which sounded reasonable so they took several pictures and said that someone may be back on Thursday and I should have a proposal on Monday. That would have been 6/11. No one came that Thursday but they did come the following. It is now 7/23 and despite at least three phone calls to follow up on the status of the proposal, I still have not received one. If this is how they treat prospective customers, I don't think they are a good company to deal with.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Top Design and their services. Again, the handyman showed up on time and was ready to work.

There were a few snafus with the scheduling but the overall experience was very positive. The work site was left clean (even to the point of helping me get rid of some cardboard that I've been slowly feeding to my recycle bin). The work was professional. The contractor started with the painting and stopped to install the dog door while the paint dried. The dog door I picked was larger than the spot I had for it and required some considerable finagling to get it to work. That ended up taking up the rest of our time with some painting still left to do inside and more importantly outside. The contractor stayed extra so that he could finish the exterior painting and didn't charge anything else. The rest of the staff there are responsive and all were personable and friendly. This is a company I would use again.

The coupon deal was all about selling the companies other services. Even though I sent a detailed scope of work document they insisted on having the salesman/project manager come to our house in advance to see what tools and materials would be required for the job. The company rep Rami was all abut giving a high pressured sales pitch. First he wanted to talk about all the other remodeling jobs they could do in our house and then he wanted us to buy a second coupon in case we decided to have them work on other projects while on the job site. We told him that we would see how well the first coupon work turned out before we would buy anymore, and we asked him to give us written estimates for any additional work. He took pictures and promised to send us a list of the materials we would need for the handymen to complete the coupon work prior to the appointment the following week. My husband stressed that they needed to bring the right tools for the carpentry job since we did not want them to damage the molding or door. Rami never sent the list even though I mailed the company a reminder notice and called two days before the scheduled appointment. He also did not email the estimate for the other work. When the handymen arrived they did not have the proper tools. They used paint buckets and piece of wood my painter had left to make a make shift saw horse to cut the molding and drywall. The only brought a hand circular saw and a screw driver. My husband who had to take off of work to be there since they would not come on the weekend, would not let them cut the door since they did not have a proper table saw. Rami came with them and purposely slowed down the work by questioning what the guys were doing and how they were doing it. He tried t get my husband to leave to buy concrete for the foundation wall, but the workers said the drywall mud compound we had onsite for sufficient for the job. Then instead of and quot;supervisingand quot; the work he proceeded to continue his hard sell pitch for all of the remolding his company could do in our home. He kept taking my husband away from the work area to walk through the house to once again discuss the other proposed work. He finally admitted his company policy was not to give written estimates. He said they would only documents they would write are contracts if the client agreed to his verbal description of the work to be done. We have learned by experience that when a contractor won't put the quote in writing run. The handyman and his helper did a competent job, but they did not finish the top of the bathroom wall or attach the latch. Worst yet, when my husband came back in the room where they were working he saw the handyman’s helper had our painter’s can of Bondo in his hand. They said they were just looking for things to use for the job. There is no excuse for them not bringing the proper tools since Rami came for the pre-inspection visit. The next day our painter came back and his $12 can of Bondo was missing. In a follow call to Rami he claimed my husband was watching his workers all the time so they could not have taken the painter’s Bondo. He has a faulty memory. The fact that they rambled through the painter’s materials at all was extremely unprofessional. Then he told me they wanted $7,500 to complete the partially remodeled bathroom. The cost was nearly double the other bids. All they needed to do was hot mop and tile the shower and floor, paint and install the fixtures. The other estimates ranged from $3500-$4300. We would not use this company again.

Abrasive and did not follow through with quote.

We applied our Big Deal purchase to getting our rather large backyard deck re-coated with water seal. Wynn did a great job - he showed up on time both days (the first day was prep work, the second was re-sealing), despite a lengthy drive, and was very thorough and detail-oriented. He explained exactly what he was going to do before starting on both days. We had a great experience and would be happy to do business again with this company in the future!

We talked to Tim one morning, everything was agreed upon and scheduled. The workers arrived on time and did everything we expected.

I highly recommend this company. The paint job looks excellent. They were very clean and professional. They made sure to put up plastic to care for my woodwork. I've had others attempt to fix this cabinet with limited success. I'm sure glad I called this company, as they fixed the cabinet door quickly.

Read the bad reviews before the good reviews and trust your feeling. i did that and that is why i was only going to buy the coupon when they would come on the appointment. so thank god i did not buy and got stuck with them!

They are a huge company, and not just a "handyman". Rami was the one that came. He came to my house and tried to up sell me to the point of being completely condescending and rude. At the time I was having new A/C put in and new hardwood flooring put in in the dining room. Rami complained that I should have had them do it. He said that we should reschedule until husband got home because he makes the decisions in the house, which was very rude. He started complaining about a crack in the wall. He pointed out a foundation problem and told me I shouldn't paint before we fix it. I let him bid the painting, which I had got estimates around ($2,500), he bid it at $7,000. They kept telling me I was being cheap. I've never had a worse experience with a company in my life.

This company cold called us with a 40% off offer. My husband set an appointment for some electrical work to be done in the garage. They mentioned in passing that they wanted me to be there. It was truly in passing, and he did not agree. They called that morning to confirm, and asked if I were going to be there. I said that I wasn't sure, probably not, and that my husband has full authority to okay the work. The man on the phone persisted, and I continued to say that my husband has full authority to authorize the work. Then the man asked if we could make the appointment earlier that day, and we agreed on a time. No one ever showed up, nor did anyone call.

They did every thing as agree with no delays or any problems\I am completely happy with the out come Mostly recommend

It came out absolutely beautiful. It looks like a brand new house. It reminds me of a house from the east coast where I just moved from.

It went very well. We would definitely re-hire Top Design and recommend them to others.

Top Design was my third estimate, they gave me the best price. I was very happy with the end results. The work was completed in a timely manner,and all the workers behaved in a professional manner. I was very pleased with the project manager who always kept me informed and was available at any time for questions I may have had. It was refreshing to know I had a person that I could trust with making sure the construction was going as planed.
