I bought an Angie's List deal to install an outdoor electric outlet on an exterior stucco wall of my house. This firm was great: Quick call from them to set up appointment; two-person crew arrived five minutes early. Polite, efficient and clean up. I would use them again.

My first conversation with Ariel of ADI went well. He let me know up front that the cost wasn't going to be the lowest possible but it wouldn't be overly expensive. He promised that the services of his company, though, could be depended on. I can say, that the work done was done well. He also made sure at each step that I was satisified with the work done. For example, there were two occasioins that backed up his promise. The first was at the end of the day of installing the new electrical panel, the men wanted to leave. However, there was one part that had not been completed. His main guy on the project gave me his phone to talk with Ariel about the situation. When I handed the phone back, Ariel made sure they understood that they were to finish that portion before leaving. A second occasion occurred in which the outlets were connected to switches that controlled them in an incorrect way. After explaining to Ariel about the problem he had his men out in a couple of days to fix the problem. A like what these guys did and will probably use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: Swapped out the main electrical panel (125 amp) to a 200 amp electrical panel. They also installed a whole house surge protector, 220 volt line to the area that we will be placing a jacuzzi as well as installing three new electrical outlets in the downstairs area of our house.

It was quick and fairly easy. Not sure the fan was big enough to make a difference. Did not install an on/off switch. It is tied into the power with a thermostat to activate. Did not really see a differnce in house temperature or power savings from air conditioner.

It went fine, except 3 weeks later I found out my solar panels had been switched off and left off. So my July bill is much larger than it should be, and thus I am effectively paying an extra $280 or so for this work. When I told them my panels were not working (I didn't know it was just do to being switched off), it took another two days before they came out to check the situation. Nothing was offered in apology.

Signed up for an Amazon Local deal several weeks back and yesterday Miguel and Alvaro came by to switch out 3 light switches with timers and replace 2 old security lights with new ones. They did an awesome job! They were scheduled to be here for an hour, but they finished in 45 minutes. They strictly deal with electrical, so understand ahead of time that clean up is on you. I will definitely use ADI again when the need arises.

A woman called in response to my voicemail message, asked what I needed, and said a field representative would get back to me. This is obviously what they tell people when a job isn't big enough for them and they can't be bothered to do it. Why not just tell me the job is too small for them, so as not to waste my time? It's so arrogant!

The ADI "field manager" arrived at my home on time and was pleasant and polite. An Edison rep had already placed a sticker on the box confirming that the location of the new panel could stay in its current position. After a few minutes of us staring at the box, he indicated to me that the promotional offer of $1399 was not going to be possible. Because offers of this kind are rarely what they purport to be, I was prepared for, and anticipated, some additional costs in the amount of anywhere from $200 to $600. Of course, I asked him what the cost would be to do the work. He paused for a good twenty seconds, and said, "$2500." I paused for a good twenty seconds and said, okay, so $2500 to change and upgrade the panel. And he said, "No, $2500 on top of the $1399 promotional price. I have zero problems with accepting and paying legitimate costs to do any work. What I didn't like was that the price immediately jumped from $1399 to $3899. Thanking the ADI rep, I cut short our meeting and politely told him the perceived up-sell was not appreciated, and I was not interested. We parted amicably, and he went on his way. I called ADI to discuss what happened with their office rep, Cindy. I got their answering machine and left a message asking her to call me. Within twenty minutes, I received a call from a gentlemen in his car on a cell phone who tried to justify the difference by saying there were things not included in the promotion that would add cost. Okay, I allowed for that, but he also suggested that at least fifty-percent of customers would receive the upgrade for exactly the cost in the promotion. In my opinion, that's simply not true. The reason being, anyone with a 100-amp system who wants to upgrade must (according to ADI) change the connection pipe, wires, grounding, permits, etc. And those costs (according to the ADI rep) are not included in the promotional price of $1399. How then can anyone upgrading from 100 to 200 amps actually be charged exactly the promotional price? They can?t. My other problem with ADI is that over a year ago I purchased a promotion from them for an outdoor outlet to be installed. The promotion cost was $45-$65, I really don't remember. I left two messages with them to set the appointment. Neither call was ever returned. Frankly, I forgot about it, which is exactly what ADI probably hoped I would do. Needless to say, I'm not a fan. ADI could have easily promoted some percentage off whatever they know their real cost will be instead of performing what I feel was a sleazy bait and switch technique on their part; and, frankly, on the part of Angie's List. It wasted my time, ADI's time and put a dent Angie's credibility. As-per the glowing reviews they get, the actual work ADI does may be just fine. I don't know. I will never know. But I now have no respect for the promotional tactics they use to generate leads. When the rep was at my home, nice as he was, I felt like I was being sold a bill of goods only the elderly would have accepted. And I am not elderly. I got three additional quotes for the work which all came in within $2300-$2800. I chose one for $2500. That price includes work done by a very qualified company and all permits. Again, the technicians at ADI may be very good. But the company needs to examine its soul and reconsider a marketing strategy that degrades whatever ability they possess. Update, 3/24/17: In the interest of truth, something in great question today, I must dispute the response by ADI Electrical to my original review of ADI posted back in 2015. ADI stated: "We apologize about the way you feel. We have been to your property before for the same estimate and we quoted the same price as the last visit." That is a lie. ADI was never on my property until the first and only visit to give me a quote for a panel upgrade. They also state: "I see that we went to your property on 6/18/2014. Also we have records indicating that we did not only speak to you but we provided an estimate for repair as well." That is also a bold faced lie. I don't like being accused of posting inaccurate information. And I challenge any of ADI employees or owners to prove otherwise. Update, 3/25/17: I would like to apologize to ADI Electric for suggesting they lied in my response to their response to my original review in 2015. I challenged the company to prove me wrong...and they did. I stand corrected. I was mistaken about the number of visits they made to my home for quotes; they did not lie. I do not suggest the company or employees are dishonest. However, I stand by my original review of what happened during their visit to quote an panel upgrade. I also feel their response mischaracterized the two appointments. My guess is the folks at ADI are good people. They just weren't the right fit for my needs. I'd like to compliment Cindy in their office for bringing my mistake to my attention. We had a fair and honest conversation about the issue. She does ADI well and probably should be going out on quote appointments.

Dear Mr. [Removed member name], We apologize about he way you feel. We have been to your property before for the same estimate and we quoted the same price as the last visit. There is a lot of issues with your electrical and we informed you of the issues that need to be corrected for you safety. It would be simple to do a panel upgrade but what you need requires more than just an upgrade. We do hope that you can understand our estimate was based on the severity of your situation. Have a blessed day.

Dear, We apologize about the way you feel. This deal requires an appropriate crawl space above the designated lights installation. After being informed you still agreed that you wanted to proceed with the project anyhow. Have a blessed day.

Because of my schedule, instillation had to be over a month after I purchased the service. No problem, the even called a few days before to confirm that I remembered and the exact time they would arrive, within a two hour window. Two technicians came as promised, and after looking at my set up decided it was better to run the exterior outlet off our panel rather than back to back through an interior outlet. No preference, so I ok'd. Within 20 minutes they had finished, cleaned up every scrap, and left. I think they did a great job and would use again.

in the front of my house (no problem). Got my quote for the outlet and they worked with me to come back on Sunday morning to do both jobs. I mention the 50-amp outlet because i had previously called no less than 4 electricians to get a quote--they either failed to show up or seemed completely disinterested in the job. ABI showed up on time (actually 30 minutes early) on Sunday. They installed the 50-amp rv outlet and then installed the recessed lights. They did a great job keeping the area clean. Plus, they threw in replacing a light switch that was giving me issues (I already had the switch). Excellent customer service and work from beginning to the end.
Description of Work: I purchased a special offer to install four recessed lights. I was called the next day to schedule an appointment for a walkthrough of the job. ABI was ready to schedule the walkthrough right away, but my schedule dictated putting it off for a couple of weeks. ABI called a day or two before the scheduled walkthrough; they arrived for the walkthrough right on time. During the walkthrough, i asked if they could also install a 50-amp RV outlet

The ceiling had a pre-existing wired light fixture that the provider removed. The provider then installed the ceiling fan (36-inch) and ran wiring for the fan with the light. Provider installed a dimmer switch and combined light/dimmer control at the former light switch location. The wiring cost an additional $250 in addition to the Angie's List Deal coupon for $69.00. We did not know about the additional cost until after the provider came to the house.

I prepaid for two electricians for two hours to come to my home to repair/replace two light switches. The receptionist who booked my appointment suggest I purchase the two light switches at Home Depot prior to the visit so I could save money, in case the switches needed to be replaced. On the scheduled date, two electricians came exactly on time and examined what needed to be done. They said, yes, you need to replace these two switches because they were not wired correctly. I showed the lead electrician the switches I had purchased at Home Depot (standard light switch and standard dimmer switch). The electrician said they were not the correct switches so I would have to buy the correct ones from him, which I did. They did an excellent job of replacing the switches, but their price for two switches--one standard and one dimmer--was $170. Very pricey, but they did an outstanding job, were courteous, professional and punctual.
