Buyer beware - right out of the gate, we experienced the danger of the Angies List "Big Deal" with this job. We pre-paid $1,389 for a 200 amp panel replacement from ADI Electrical - as advertised in an Angie's List email. When the representative from the company arrived to assess the job, however, he instantaneously identified the elements that were not covered by the deal that would add an additional $1,009. Fair enough - the fine print when we first made the purchase acknowledged that certain additional costs might come into play, and if I have to guess we ultimately paid about what we would have paid another contractor to do the work. While we didn't really save any money, we didn't lose out either. But what we DID lose was any and all opportunity to negotiate and, worse, to meet the company and see how we felt about how they would approach the work before hiring them. The team was punctual and responsive by phone, and the initial work was completed in a timely manner. But the quality of the work was disappointing. Where the conduit from the panel out through the roof needed to be replaced and widened, they roughly tore out a chunk of roof and shingle and haphazardly slapped some tar around the splintered hole, with big chunks of shingle draped up the side of the new conduit where they'd chosen not to cut it. Instead of moving or replacing the segments of conduit that ran to the panel along the side of the house to position them properly, they bent and jammed them roughly into place so that they would join with the new panel, but only barely. When they left at the end of the day, one of the hinges on the door of the newly installed panel was bent in such a way that flipping the door up to look at the breakers caused the door to fall off entirely. Most troubling of all, however, the work team left at the end of the day without mentioning that they'd simply set a piece of cardboard in the hole, in the new panel, where the meter is meant to go. That cardboard then stayed there, with no meter in place, for just over two months. At first, it was unclear why it was there and who was supposed to install the meter. No one said anything about it the day the work was done. When we called the supervisor assigned to our job the next day, he said something vague about how his supervisor would come by with a key to put the meter from our old panel into the new one. But when a worker came by (who was clearly not a supervisor) he said he wasn't sure they had the key, that the DWP might have to do it. After a few days of no more follow up from ADI, we called again and were told that, yeah, someone from the DWP would need to come by and do it - no mention was made of the key the company had supposedly had. After a few WEEKS of waiting in vain for the DWP be to come by, we called back and the ADI supervisor said he would check in with them. A few more weeks later, we call again, he calls and says he'll check with them again. He calls back, apologetically, and says that now the DWP really WILL take care of it (all the while making it sound as though there was no alternative). And then a few more days of nothing. Meanwhile, throughout this two month period, another team of electricians (from a different company) is hard at work rewiring the rest of the house, inspectors and contractors are coming by to look at installing solar panels, and all are telling us that it's unheard of for a company to leave a job in this state - with the live inner workings of our main electrical panel separated from the elements by only a piece of cardboard - that it was unnecessary and dangerous, and that ADI just needed to come by with a key to pop in the old panel. By the time we were informed well enough to demand this from ADI, they had someone out within 24 hours who simply popped our old meter, which had been sitting next to the house the whole time, into the slot in the new meter, closing it off from the elements (and getting us back into the utilities metering system). And then DWP finally showed up to install the new meter a few days later. That it took two months and repeated hassling for ADI to take this simple step to finish the job (which other electricians told us should have been standard operating procedure on the day the work was done) was frustrating. Sure, the main source of the long delay in getting a NEW meter installed in the panel was the DWP, but ADI should not have left the job in the first place without getting the person with their key to come over and pop in the old meter in the meantime. The ultimate feeling we were left with was that they were interested primarily in charging as much as we would agree to pay for as loose, rough, and fast a job as they could manage without getting hassled, and were a bit shifty about the details of whether or not they had the means to finish the job (which it ultimately turned out they did) and who was responsible for the protracted delay with the meter. Not the worst experience in the world - they executed the fundamentals of the work and they weren't truly shady, but I would not choose to work with them again. We've worked with other electricians since and the contrast has been marked. And in general, we would not limit our options again by pre-paying for an Angies List "Big Deal" for a piece of significant work.

WE BOUGHT AN $89 DOLLAR DEAL FOR TWO HOURS OR SERVICE - THAT WAS THE TITLE OF THE DEAL - AND THEY WOULD NOT HONOR IT. THE WOMAN THERE SAID IT WAS AN "ERROR" THAT'S NOT OUR FAULT!!! FALSE ADVERTISING! The lady in the office did not try to accommodate us in the least, she said no deal and that's it. Not only that, she was obnoxious. This is not an honest company, I would recommend not risking dealing with them. I will never buy a deal from Angie's List again. All this was was a big inconvenience.

Not well. Unable to install fan I had purchased. Mobile home with dropped ceiling. Previous fan was precariously installed and they didn't want to repeat it. What I didn't like was no refund was offered (I should have asked) and the two technicians spoke in Spanish to each other and I wanted to listen to what their thoughts were (that's how I learn things for future reference). They were friendly though.

I've worked with ADI a few times - always very simple and good quality. Advance inspection with Ariel took less than 30 minutes, and he was able to fit me in ahead of schedule so the project was installed within a couple of weeks. Only took a couple of hours; the two guys were professional, made sure to measure placement carefully, cleaned up afterward, and made sure to fill in any small chips made during installation. The lights are pretty basic and straightforward (as expected) and provide much better illumination than the previous generic fixture. Another successful job!

I bought an ADI Angie's List Electric Car/RV package. They guys came to my house and didn't have the correct outlet so just installed a regular outlet. After speaking to project manager, I was told to find the outlet I needed and they would install it. They came out a second time to put the new outlet in, and somehow installed incorrectly, completely frying the microwave and A/C in my RV. The management was extremely supportive and helpful during this whole situation. YES, they sold me a package that they didn't really have the supplies to actually do. YES, they guys they sent out weren't completely sure of what they were doing. BUT, they did send a boss out to check the final work to make sure everything was OK. I'm not sure I would use them again. BUT, I would say they were very responsive and apologetic to the issues I had. They addressed them in a timely manner and made sure to give me piece of mind that the project was finished correctly.

It went okay. They worked really slow. The first one, they did real quick. They put up the ceiling fan really quick. It was boom boom. Same exact job, for the second one, they started slowing down. When it came towards the end, they hadn't yet put the fans up to the ceiling and they told me, "Oh, well, we're out of time." I said, "You're really leaving me stuck. You've got the one put up quickly and now, all of a sudden, you can't do this one?" I said, "How much for an extra hour?" He told me it was over $300. I said, "You're out of your mind." I said, "I don't have that. It's me and then the kids. I don't even have any money. You're telling me $300 and I paid you guys whatever." I paid $80 or something and I had two fans. There wasn't even any electrical. The wires were already there. They said, "Well, let me see what I can do." He got up there and he had that fan installed in about 8 minutes. They did an okay job. $350 was ridiculous. It was just crazy. One fan, they did just fine. With the other one, I can't run the light and the fan at the same time. They were in there yakking to each other. You could tell what they were doing and what they were going to do. It was obvious. You could hear them talking. You knew what was going on and I knew what was coming. The appointment was almost two months away. They could not get me in any sooner. It was freaking hot. I needed the fans and it was over a month. It was crazy. They could have given me my appointment quicker. They could have been honest as far as what they could do in the allotted amount of time. The guys were nice. It seemed like, at the end, they had a heart. When I told them I didn't have $350 or whatever it was, and I can't do it. They actually had compassion and then, they whipped it out but they didn't finish it right.

I bought the $89 for 2 hours of service deal, it was 2 guys for one hour. I wanted my recessed lighting bulbs changed out, and looked at to see if the wiring was done correctly the first time it was installed (I hadn't used a professional). They told me the wiring was fine but because it was halogen bulbs they would keep burning out every few months. They gave me a quote to redo the work with LED. -I asked about a few other projects and Alvaro, the main guy, mentioned deals they were running at the time that could save me money. I thought that was great that he was not looking to upsell me, just gave me the quotes I asked for and which deals it could match up with. Both guys were very nice, and patient with my dogs. Would totally use them again.

They showed up on time; even called that they were on their way. Evaluated my set-up, asked me where I would like the light to be placed and explained that it would need to come from the box. One explained that it could come out one side, but the other one informed him that a partial hole was pushed in and it could come from that side. That worked better. They got their materials, worked quietly, professionally, and fast, but not carelessly. We tested it and I am totally satisfied.
Description of Work: The deal was $89 for either a motion sensor installed or an outlet. I wanted a motion detecter for my backyard. They (two guys) installed my motion detecter by my electrical box (it has to come from the box). They looked at the set-up, explained what they could do, and I accepted their evaluation.
