When I placed my order, I made it clear that I had just installed a swamp cooler and wanted him to check the wire connections that I had done. The occupants told me he had a bad attitude and he told them he doesn't go on roofs. The next day I googled it and fixed it myself.

I bough a coupon from ADI for a service call. I tried to schedule of Angie's List and they said they would not schedule over the web, that I had to call. I called them and told them I need an overhead fixture fixed (I could not find the switch) and they said that the coupon did not apply. I told them no where on Angie's List did it specify that, and they said I was out of luck. If I wanted them to come, it would be $125 and the coupon wouldn't count towards it. When I told them that didn't seem fair, they hung up on me. So basically the coupon was a scam. In summary: don't purchase a deal on Angie's List from ADI -- they will not honor it.

I apologize for your misunderstanding of the deal. The conversation did not happen that way per our recorded conversations we keep records of. We explained that your project was extensive and not covered under the deal but we would be happy to come still come out and access the project free of charge if the deal did not apply to your project. We also stated that for your particular job it would require materials not included in the deal that you could either provide or we could provide with additional charges. Towards the end of the conversation you stated you did not want to use the coupon and wanted to contact Angie's List for a refund.. Thank you for your time and sorry about the confusion in the deal.

Because of the success of the offer, the soonest time someone could come out and install the fan was four weeks away. I was looking for something a little bit sooner.

What seemed to be an easy job became complicated after the wall I wanted the outlet moved to turned out to be solid plaster. They drilled and worked from the crawl space under the house to get it done. Though the job took longer than the $99 special allowed they didn't charge anything extra.

The Angies list deal that I ordered was for a replacement of a main electrical panel including all new materials, proper grounding, and a whole house GFI for $949.00 My first surprise was that my credit card was charged the full amount at the time I ordered the service. I had no idea that Angie's List worked that way. In California, contractors are allowed to receive 10% of the full contract amount or $1000.00 which ever is less at the time the order is made. In this case I was apparently charged the full amount before I was even contacted by the contractor. The A.D.I. Electric Services representative (Ariel Kahana) came out to my home on July 2, 2014 to estimate the materials required for the job. The first thing he asked me was which service I had ordered. I thought that was a little strange that he did not know what he was there for. He then went into a speech about how honest his company was. I thought that too was strange that he felt the need to explain that. I told him that I had ordered the electrical panel special. He then wanted to know how much I had paid. I told him it was $950.00 and he said oh the $949.00 package. I told him I understood the "ad" on Angie's List indicated that this was for a 100, 150, or 200 amp service. Mr. Ariel Kahana with A.D.I. said right away that since I had a 100 amp breaker there would be an extra charge for an "up-grade". He stated that there had been a lot of confusion about that and that the Angie's List ad was not worded correctly. He said that the 100 amp that I currently had was probably sufficient but that I should upgrade. I understood that from the Angie's listing the $949.00 price was for either a 100,150, or 200 amp service. He said that the $949.00 for a 100 amp was a bargin because they would normally charge around $3000.00. He said the Angie's list language was wrong, and that it did not mean what it said. I asked how much it would be for a 150 amp service. He said they don't do 150 amp service, even though the Angie's List ad shows that they do. He then said it would be and extra $450.00 for stucco repair. I felt that was too much and he said I could find someone else to do the stucco. I told him I had no way to find a stucco repairman. By this time approximately 20 minutes had passed and I told Ariel I had to go sit down do to recent knee surgery. He said ok, he would take some pictures. After about five minutes I came back out and he informed me that he could do a 200 amp upgrade for approximately $1495.00 in addition to the original $949.00 plus the addition $450.00. So the total "estimated cost" was now up to $2894.00 for a job I understood would be $949.00. I told him this sounded like a classic bait and switch tactic. He insisted that was not the case. (So what would happen if he came out and found that the existing service was 150 or 200 amp, would the charge be for the original $949.00?) I cannot believe that the cost for a 200 amp panel and breaker justifies such a huge increase in cost considering there would be no difference in labor cost. I found ADI to be an un-trustworthy company. I told him that at this point I felt extremely uncomfortable proceeding with the job and would like to cancel. He said that would not be a problem and that I should contact Angie's List and they would in turn contact ADI Electrical Services. And that my money would be promptly refunded. I am formally asking for a complete credit of $949.00 to the credit card that was charged. This service was not performed and has been cancelled. Thank you for a prompt response to this matter. Robert Harmon In addition, Angie's list has refused to provide me a refund, stating that the time had expired even though the reason was the fault of the contractor giving me erroneous information about a required permit from Edison Electric.

I just joined Angie's List yesterday and purchased a Big Deal for Installing a ceiling fan, not knowing that I have to assemble the fan myself and the Tech will just install it. The lady on the phone is nice said to do my best to put them together and when the Tech comes to install, let them know and see what they can do without adding more costs. However, I can't really take that chance, I would like to hire somebody to start from the beginning to the end. Most of the fans need assemble and I don't want to mess with it myself and the appointment is 3 weeks away. So I rather call another company to do the whole job right away.

I was excited to see this big deal for what I was thinking was a new and more appropriate sized panel for my home which was built in the 1950's. When Ariel got to my house to assess the work needed, he let me know that the deal I had purchased was not an UPGRADE, rather, a REPLACEMENT panel. I have a small 50 amp panel and knew that I needed a larger one for my upgraded home. He told me that the big deal was for a replacement panel, not an upgraded panel i.e. 50 amp to a 200 amp. He said there had been the same mis-undertanding with other customers who had purchased this same deal and was genuinely troubled by it. The cost he quoted me for an actual upgrade was over double what the cost of the Angie's deal was so I decided to wait on having any work done. I don't have any complaints about ADI electrical. Ariel was professional and patient with me as I showed him the different electrical issues in my home. Another thing that got me a little mislead was the whole house surge protector. I guess I was thinking that was a synonamous term with a whole house grounding set up! Crazy me! It is just an extra much less important addition to a home electrical system in comparison to a proper grounding to your home. I would suggest to Angie's list, have a more detailed explanation of what the actual job is in laymens terms and be specific. Thanks for the refund and 30 day money back guarantee!

We purchased a Big Deal from them. We got a reminder stating they were coming out, and the technician called before arriving. When he got there he said he would have to cut into the drywall. He didn't think he could do it, and didn't want to charge extra money. We got a refund, but they were extremely professional.

I want to install 1 outlet in my closet. I found this coupon " $100 for Two Man-Hours of Electrical Labor" , In the coupon , it is clear said : Example Services: Installing new lighting, dimmers, and switches Installing interior or exterior outlets Installing a new ceiling fan or a bathroom exhaust fan Coupon may be applied to any electrical need you have, including projects requiring more than two hours So I bought this coupon. When I called to schedule an appointment, they told me that this coupon can not be used for this job. I asked why they put this job in the example service. They said it is angielist who put it on the example service, not them. This is misleading and cheating ! Anglis list and ADI electrical ,Please stop do it !

The service provider could not complete the assignment. The fan was not the same shape and it was close to the wall and he said something about that location being extra. No option was given to use a different fan at an extra price. I was told that the money would be refunded. I thought they would initiate the refund but when I called a few days ago, after not receiving the refund, the woman in the office said that I needed to contact your company and that you would initiate the refund process. She was very nice and said that there was no problem with getting a refund--just that the procedure was through your company.

Our air conditioner was not working and the air conditioner service person tracked it down to an electric issue. I saw this coupon on Angie's list and requested service. Their first availability was 1 month after my initial contact. This is completely unacceptable. People don't want electricity fixed one month later...they need it done today. Their response to me was to ask Angie's list for a refund. Another inappropriate response.

The company spokesperson said that the deal applied only when replacing an existing fan. I wanted them to install a fan in a room that currently did not have a fan. The small print in the deal did not state that the structure to mount the fan had to be in place. Since the deal only applied to labor costs, I do not understand why they rejected the deal. I will not accept any future deals if all the conditions are not spelled out.

After we bought the deal, ADI came out to look at our electrical panel. The cost was going to be more than double what the deal was originally for on the website. It's a bit of a bait-and-switch because most of the houses here need all the "extras" - which are more than standard. They were also pretty insistent that we paid for a different deal, which was less.
