Description of Work: This company's bid was outrageous...over $1,800 to replace some parts of my toilet that cost about $4 each. I know they are really big on marketing in the area, but I found them to be quite disreputable & would STRONGLY advise potential customers to get more bids.

Description of Work: Same Day Service did N O T do A N Y work in my home...they were only asked to give an estimate for some work in my kitchen. Their rep was nice, but not sure of how to "exactly" route the gas line with the on/off valve that ultimately would be hidden inside a custom cabinet...I found a well seasoned cabinet maker and a professional company to do the gas line - they both understood "exactly" what needed to be done without ever meeting one another! Also Same Day Service gave me two estimates: $851.48 (standard rate) & $723.80 (service club price). The company I hired AIS (Livermore, CA), charged: $350.00 (specialty parts) & $90.00 (installation). Total: $440.00. Also, although I was ONLY requesting an estimate their rep asked me to pay a "service fee" of $50.00 - I almost asked him to get out of my home as I'd made NO COMMITMENT to do business with Same Day Service, especially because he wasn't sure of what needed to be done. This was my very first experience in remodeling (not quite finished) and it has been quite any eye-opening one! Contractors are something to be desired.

 + 0 moreDo not use this company is my best recommendation! I called this company out to give me a quote on fixing my toilet problem. Their quote was to auger toilet. They explained that they would use an 8 foot auger. This would cost $254. If that didn't work they would have to remove, clean and reinstall the toilet. That would add an additional $661. He explained how difficult it is to remove and reinstall the toilet. I told him that I knew how difficult it is and asked him to leave. I called a different company. They used an auger that was approximately 8 feet long. It didn't work so they used a longer electric auger and fixed the problem (without removing the toilet). The total cost was $179.

 + 0 moremy 84 yr. old brother needed the pipes replaced in the house that is approximately 80 yrs. old. I checked Angie's List and found Same Day Service. My brother saw them also in his local paper. This company has been around a long time. the owner began as a plummer and worked his way up to owning the company. It is a family run business and we worked with them long distance from Sunnyvale, Ca. to Guinda, Ca. Jovani, the main technician stayed in contact with us daily by phone. A 3 day job took 4 days. No increase in the price and work was completed very satisfactory. My brother was very satisfied with the professional attitude, courtesy, and respect to him. And the knowledge and workmanship displayed by Jovani and his assistant.
Description of Work: Whole house re-pipe in crawl space, removed all galvanized water lines under home. Install new copper water lines through out home. 10 yr. warranty on all copper water lines installed. Tie in copper under home to galvanized risers feeding fixtures. No walls will be open in home. 1 year service partner plan. no hard sell on anything.

 + 0 moreBoth of these jobs were very professionally done. I bought the extended service "deal" after a semi-hard sell. All personell were very courteous, punctual and friendly. The only thing that desturbed me (besides the cost) was the fact that I didn't have any way to compare costs with that of other plumbers. It still seems pretty high to me. I drive a Toyota, not a BMW!
Description of Work: Single lever 31-year old Delta faucet in bathtub/shower began leaking about six years after I had repaired it. For awhile I could stop the drip by fiddling with it but it got worse after a few months. Found Same Day Plumbing (SDP) online. They came promptly on a day that was convenient for me. Rep was very professional but somewhat hard-sell. He had to go get a small part and the job took about two hours. That was over five months ago and the faucet is still O.K. Before he left, he offered to look at the sewer line to the street with a video camera. It was clogged, of course. I didn't believe it was as bad as he described but he let me look - and it was. The pipe from one bathroom had slipped out of allignment where it joined the main line from the other side of the house (2nd bathe & laundry). The estimated cost to replace the main line to the street was $5,732.15. Yikes! The job took two more days. It didn't disturb the front plantings except for two spots - one in the middle of the front planting and one next to the sidewalk. Each is about 4' x 4' and the ground cover is beginning to cover.

 + 0 moreWater was backing up in our drains. We're new to town and didn't know who to call, so we went to the Net to find a local company. From when they answered the phone until the work was done, this company was tops! The workers were all very professional, diligent, and efficient. They also were friendly and very good at explaining everything. They finished up all the work and left everything as close to pre-work status as was possible. And it was great! We love it! We're going to have some more plumbing work and a small bathroom remodeling job done, and this is the company we're going to call. They really earn the A+ rating with the BBB.
Description of Work: Replaced sewer line. New intake line (from the street to the house) put in. New water shut-off valve installed. Halo water treatment system put in. A kitchen faucet replaced. A utility sink installed.

 + -1 moreHe did arrive in a timely fashion but as soon as he got here he started the hard sell for a maintenance contract that was very expensive and he was somewhat condescending when we refused. They claimed to guarantee their work, but after they had cleaned out the sewer we were told unless we paid another $200 to $300 dollars to have them run the line with a camera the work couldn't be guaranteed. No mention of this was made when they said they guaranteed their work. I didn't trust that any work he said needed to be done actually needed to be done. I wouldn't use them again as I'm certain they would try to rip me off

water heater repair
 + -1 moreThey were kind of slow and quite expensive. They charge $50 just to look at water heaters. I was to get a rebate from PG&E but they refused to accept the number. I had to go back to the plumbing company and I finally got my $35 rebate.
Description of Work: They put in a water heater for me and took away the old one. They offer a yearly contract but it is pretty expensive and if you don't sign up for it and something goes wrong, you're pretty much stuck.
