Original Richard

Very punctual and very neat and clean. Stucco looks great after fog coat but does have more cracks than I was lead to believe. Trim painted well though I thought more effort would be put into filling and sanding. Overall a good company with fair pricing. I have already recommended them to a colleague.

Everything went well. Crew showed up on time with the materials. I had taken advantage of the extra person and I am glad I did. The crew got more done than I expected. I would definitely use these folks again

All tasks were completed on time and with high quality work. Great care was taken masking and preparing to keep work area clean and minimize dust or splatter. All crew members were positively responsive to questions and requests.

I have been having Original Richard perform renovation on my house for more than seven years. I was referred by a realtor friend since I was not sure where to turn when my 55 year old house needed major work. The owner, Richard Kane was understanding of my budget and very professional. He didn't try to sell me things that I didn't need and understood my budget parameters. Jacky in the office is always easy to work with. She's great at keeping me posted on the progress and schedules. Two of Richard's crew, Javier and Ricardo, stand-out in my mind. They always arrived promptly and were careful to clean-up after they finished their work. They also were very careful with the doors so that my dog didn't get out of the yard.

Great. There were a couple bumps getting the work set up, but Jacky was wonderful. The workers finished very quickly and even cleaned up well.

Needed the job done fast and Richard's crew delivered. They completed 6 months of work in about 2. Very impressed.

They arrived exactly at 8am, sharp! And were able to put 3 coats of white in the living room, and 2 coats of tropical blue in my room, and 3 coats of white in the hall way in 8 hrs.

No one showed up at the agreed upon time to prepare a bid. When I called, they had trouble finding my "file." Once they found the file, they said the appointment hadn't been confirmed on their end. When I call a business and make an appointment, I expect them to show up! If you can't handle this part of the process, I don't trust you with the actual work.

It was time for a needed repair and as always I called Original Richard. Richard came out with an employee and measured talked with me and gave an estimate right then and now. He has been in this business long enough that it's not a "I'll get back to you with an estimate." I like that. When I am ready to do something I want to move on it now! Both of our schedules needed to be worked out. They are very accommodating that way and we work together well. They showed up on time as usual and finished the job ahead of schedule. Not a drop of white paint on my patio. I love this company from the phone conversations with Jackie (the manager) to their very professional employees and of course the owner. You will never be disappointed with this company.

The color coat was completed a few days ago and I am delighted by the results. Final stucco results were far better than what I had expected given what Original Richard had inherited. Original Richard's team was: professional, punctual and delivered on their promises. Unlike the other stucco company, they also cleaned up after the project too. I cannot thank the team (Richard, Edgar, Jacky, Steve & their staff) at Original Richard enough for rescuing my stucco job! A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I have the team at Original Richard's to thank!

This is the second time I have used Original Richard and both times I feel that I got great value, good service, and quality work. I recently had water damage to interior walls from a roof leak at an apartment building that I own. There was an interior wall between two units that had gotten water soaked. The wall was an insulated wall and I was concerned about mold that could grow in the wet insulation and drywall. I also had some various drywall a plaster repairs that were needed at different locations in the building. I called a couple of contractors to come give me an estimate. The first Contractor was a real shyster who gave me an estimate of $4,500 for the repairs and tried to tell me that I needed a whole new roof and he know someone who could give me a great price on the roof repairs. I just listened and thanked him and sent him on his way, knowing that they were the last people I would ever hire. The next day I meet with the estimator from Original Richard, showed him the repairs and he gave me an estimate of $1400 for the repairs. I thought this was a very reasonable price and i later scheduled the work with their main office. On the scheduled day they workers showed up on time with the appropriate materials. I showed them the work to be done and they got started after taking time to put down floor protection along the path of work through the tenant's apartment. Once they opened the wall we discovered it was a structural shear wall with plywood behind the drywall which was also wet and was in front of the wet insulation which prevented the removal of the wet insulation. As the workers were showing me the situation, both the estimator and Original Richard himself showed up to review the situation. I realized that this was not what we had anticipated and was going to take additional work to repair. I had visions of huge added costs and expected to have to open up the wall from the other side, which would have inconvenienced another tenant and required at least one or two more later work days to complete. I thought I had just opened up a real can of worms. Well, they came up with a plan to cut-out the wet plywood, remove and replace the wet insulation, plywood and drywall and they could get it all done that day. They only charged an additional $150 for the additional work and plywood material. I was extremely happy with their solution and cost. At the end of the day all the repairs were completed, the mess was cleaned up and we all went our merry way.

Very satisfied with the work that was done, the men were very prompt in the morning, cleaned up after the work was done and were very professional. Very accommodating to my time frame of availability as well.

They first came and gave us a bid on the spot. They were very open to answering questions about the bid and ensuring we were in agreement up front. This was a big job and took about two weeks to complete. They worked with us closely throughout to ensure that it ran the way we wanted (downstairs, including the kitchen first) to minimize the disruption as we were still living in the house. They were very open to feedback about the job and made sure to touch up as needed. They also addressed other issues that became apparent during the painting process (e.g. some texturing that needed touch up), but was previously hidden. The crew did a great job and the owner came by several times to make sure that we were happy. The foreman spoke English well and ensured that the crew stayed on task. They were hard workers and kept at it for full days.

We are sooo glad we found original Richard on Angie's list! Would recommend them to anyone. We just got the keys to our new home and were on a very tight schedule to move in. Original Richard was able to scrape the popcorn ceiling, texture and paint THE WHOLE HOUSE (walls and all!) in 2 days flat. Everything was dry and ready to go by the time we needed to move in. Pros: *excellent customer service. Steven was so nice and helpful. Jackie was always available for questions. They were very responsive *great work. The job was clean and done right *accommodating. They made it work for our very tight schedule - even though it meant bringing in like 7 guys a day to get it done *competitive pricing. The bill was in the same ballpark as quotes I got from other (not so friendly) contractors Cons *they left a bit of a mess outside the house. We asked them to remove all window coverings and one set of blinds was left outside. I guess we are just unlucky because it just happened to rain so the blinds got horribly dirty. All in all, I would absolutely recommend Original Richard and plan on using them again for future home projects!

Richard was very attentive, detailed and professional when helping me with my plans and scope-of-work for a bedroom/bath addition. He even provided some very helpful tips that should greatly increase the value of my home. During the planning stages, he was always prompt and considerate of my specific budget and needs. I was able to get plans approved by the City without any change requests.

I called the company to get an estimate to have painting and drywall repair work performed. Steve was in the area so he showed up within an hour of the call, and after walking through the house to see what I wanted done, he wrote up an estimate. We signed the contract right there, and I told him I'd call in about a week to schedule the work. When I called a week later, the person I spoke to quickly scheduled the time I requested. The work crew showed up on time. They did excellent work. They kept the job site clean, even removing all the tarps at the end of the day so we wouldn't have to live with a mess overnight. They were responsive to any special requests; for example, I was very picky that the elastomeric paint be applied to seal up all the small pinholes where water might enter, and they met my needs. I would gladly work with them again.

The crew was on time, polite, professional and great at their job. Holes were filled seamlessly and they even cleaned up after themselves.

(Original) Richard came to the house to price out the work, I wanted to have done. Very quickly, both of us realized, that we were, going to "do business". 1 week after contract completion, the job supervisor, came to inspect the job site. The following Monday, work began with the careful protection of all areas of the house, that were in harm's way, as the sandblasting proceeded around the house and garage. Original Richard's sandblasting crew even considered our adjacent, down wind neighbor, who had an outdoor pool. With the neighbor's approval, they covered the entire pool while sandblasting. Next, the stucco base coat, was applied. I chose to soften the original sharp outside corners - not a problem for Original Richard and my cost was very reasonable. Then, the color coat was applied. Finally, the lace textured, finish coat was applied. Now, the painters prep the eaves and exterior trim. They applied a primer coat where needed. Then, 2 top coats of good quality paint was applied. There were a few very small areas that I observed, needing improvement. I mentioned this to the painters. They accepted my directions without any argument. Thus, I am satisfied with their work. There was however, a dissatisfaction with the finished stucco appearance, behind the kitchen. This happened because insufficient color packets were bought, even though I told them, that I wanted packets left over, and would reimburse them at day's end for those. They had to purchase additional color packets late in the day, that were obviously not from the same lot. To improve the appearance, a color fog coat was applied, about 3 weeks later. The results were notably better and accepted. My true overall rating is an A minus, as a result of the aforementioned. The new stucco looks fresh and crisp, Maintenance free good looks for many years. Original Richard is currently, my first choice for upcoming house repairs.

Throughout the project, Richard and his crew were professional, friendly, and quick to respond to any minor fixes. They showed up on time every day, worked hard, kept us in the loop on progress, and the quality was great. Richard also provided lots of suggestions for style/design/project. They are not the cheapest contractor around, but you get what you pay for in a trustworthy and high quality contractor. Highly recommended.
