They were awesome. They provide me good price, professional and was able to meet all the committments that I ask for.

Felt like I was dealing w/ family, from initial meeting w/ Richard to dealing w/ Jackie in the office. Everything was documented and the payments were as work was delivered. The crew was profesional and cleaned up every day. I even had some cracks that Richard told me I would have becasue of all the work I was doing inside my house. His suggestion was a respray for a minimul cost. Which I did and Richard honored a YEAR Later!!

We had some plumbing work done in our master bath, and instead of going thru the tile, they went thru the stucco on the outside of the wall. This left a big hole, that we needed repaired. I sent the pictures to Original Richard, who had done some patching for us before, and they sent us a quote. We liked the price and they came out the next weekend to do the work. The repairman didn’t speak a lot of English, but he got his point across and his work was OUTSTANDING, he did way more than we expected and cleaned up after himself. Way above and beyond quality repair, without any direction from us, as we are clueless when it comes to stuff like this!

Original Richard did a great job! Everything looks wonderful, the workmen were so polite and professional--very understanding about our needs--and the rooms look just wonderful. I'm thrilled with the work and would definitely recommend to others.

The crew did a good job. With 4 members in the team, they knocked out 3 bedrooms and a hall ceiling with popcorn, and did a great job. They cleaned up after the work was completed and were professional throughout.

We worked out a price on email. They sent a proposal. I sent a deposit, we setup a date. The gentleman that came was excellent - thorough and helpful. And he did excellent work and cleaned up. Most all communication was via email. Which was helpful.

We initially hired Original Richard to repair drywall in our bathroom and were happy with the job that the workman did. Consequently, we hired them to paint the bathroom and also our living room ceiling. There were several issues that we were unhappy with. First, the follow through on setting the appointment was slow. Second, they had us put a down payment at a paint store, but never followed up with assisting us in ordering the paint. The painters arrived expecting us to have the paint. Since we did not have the paint they made a phone call and provided paint. I'm not sure if it was something from their truck or if they went and purchased it, but we had to pay for it. I'm not sure if the $100 down payment for the paint was applied or how that all worked out. Third, when they removed the painters' tape it removed the paint in several places at the top of our walls in the living room. They offered to paint it but only if we had the paint (we didn't). Apparently, we signed on this, so perhaps this is a regular risk. Fourth, when they painted the bathroom the painter did not remove the towel bar. A family member accidentally pulled on the bar in the middle of the night and it pulled out of the wall. Since the bar had not been removed before painting the paint was stuck on the bar. I want to add that the towel bar was an existing issue and had become loose in the past. We believe that the current problem could have been avoided if the job had been done properly in the beginning. If he removed the towel bar he would have noticed the drywall problem, patched and painted and consequently avoided the problem. Lastly, the ensuing conversation with the owner regarding this issue was unsatisfying. He said that jobs of this size are really a "courtesy" because they "don't really make any money." This was poor customer service and we do not plan to attempt to work with them on fixing our wall or on future jobs.

They did an absolutely amazing job at a reasonable price. We have other jobs coming up in the near future that we will definitely hire only Original Richards to take care of.

I hired Original Richard to restucco my house and paint all the trim (including detached garage). They did a great job. The work consisted of sandblasting the old stucco off and putting on a skim coat followed by a color coat in my chosen texture/color. They used a treatment at the ground level to prevent moister damage. They accommodated my premium choice at no extra cost. They replaced the front fascia trim (below the rain gutters) with new wood an repainted all of the trim around the house as well as the garage. They also cut my front door sill in preparation for a future replacement with a pre-hung door. The effect is that the sill will not not reach out into the stucco and the existing door can be replaced cleanly. They also painted some iron work at the front porch to deal with rust showing through.

The crew showed up on time access the situation made a few suggestions and got to work. When I came home they had locked up, the work was excellent and it was so clean you could barely tell they were there. My stair person was also impressed

My experience with OR was professional and pleasant from the beginning. They provided a free and very reasonable estimate within 1 day of seeing my project, and were very easy to get in contact with. They promptly answered all of my questions and were very accomodating to my needs. They managed to still meet their timeline even as I added extra work to the project, and even worked through the weekend! Their work was top notch, they covered and cared for all of our belongings, and treated our house with respect. I will definitely reach out to them first for any future home improvment needs. Richard and his team are great. Not only are did they give the best bid out of four contractors, they were very communicative, very reasonable with adjustments, and carefully explained the work as we went along. I'd use again, any day.

These guys did a great job retexturing all the ceilings and repainting the entire interior of our house. They worked fast and cleaned up after themselves for a fair price.

Five years ago I purchased my house which is a 1920's bungalow with a two story addition. At the time of purchase it had been freshly painted and looked great. Within five years it looked like ****, with faded and pealing paint everywhere, wood filler falling off in chunks, etc. This is what you get when house flippers pay the lowest price for a paint job for a quick sale. With that in mind I set out to get the house back to good condition with some restoration and a good paint job. A considerable amount of wood siding needed to be replaced and several of the many windows needed to be reglazed (replacing and painting the putty around the window panes). There was also a garage and covered outdoor area to be painted, three decks to be refinished and a wood pergola that needed to be re-sealed. I received four quotes from local painting contractors. The lowest quote was about $10,000 from a couple of guys that were working under someone else's license and provided no proof of insurance. I knew that if I wanted the type of paint job that I was trying to fix these were the guys. But that is exactly what I did not want. The second quote was from a well reviewed painting contractor who sent out a young estimator who looked the job over, talked a good game and gave me a price a little higher than the first guys. The problem I had with this is that I knew that when the crew showed up to do the work the estimator wasn't going to be there and all that happy talk would be meaningless to the guys doing the work. I figured they would be looking for more money to do the job that I expected. The third painting price was from a top rated, local family run business that had great reviews and provided references for recent completed work that I could see they did good quality work. Their price was around $16,000 which was considerably more but was probably right for the scope of work and quality that I wanted. I had one more contractor in mind before I made my decision. I had used Original Richard a couple of times before for repairs needed on a rental property that I own and was impressed with their pricing, quality and responsiveness. I wasn't sure if they did house painting but when I check Angie's List I could see that they do. So I called them up and asked them to come out and give me quote. I was happy to see Richard and his main guy Steven show up for the estimate. They gave me a price that was a little lower than the third. I told them the date that I needed the work completed and we reached an agreement. I knew that there was a potential for a large cost increase once they started stripping the paint and exposing things that couldn't be seen beforehand but past experience with Original Richard made me feel comfortable that I wouldn't be taken advantage of if the scope of work had to be increased. They showed up first thing on the appointed day with a full crew of men and got right to work. Within a day or two we could see the extent of wood siding that needed to be replaced, which was expected, but a significantly larger quantity than I had anticipated. They were able to find wood siding that matched the original 1920's siding exactly. They charged me their exact cost for materials (I check directly with the supplier) and a very reasonable cost for the extra labor to remove, replace and dispose of 200 linear feet of the old siding and prime paint all the new. As they were doing the prep work I decided that I wanted to strip off all the paint from the original garage doors and hinges and expose the beautiful old wood and hardware and give it a clear sealer instead of paint. The extra $600 seemed high but when I saw how much work it took and how great it looks I knew it was worth the cost and really adds a lot of charm to the old garage. I have to say that they have a great crew of men working for them. Very nice guys with some great skills. They always put down protection so that things didn't get paint drips or over-spray, they left the property in a clean and orderly condition every evening, and they were mindful of my two dogs that had access to the yard while they worked. They also didn't play blaring music all day long while the worked. Jackie in the main office kept me informed of what days they would be there working and upcoming progress payments. The last thing to be completed was refinishing the wood decks which they completed on the last day. There was some sort of mix-up on the deck color and when I came home that night I wasn't happy with the color. I called their office the next day and we discussed that it wasn't the color as before that we had agreed upon. They were great about coming back and re-staining the decks to my satisfaction. The end result was exactly what I had hoped for and I know will look good for a long time to come.

Great experience! It was very easy to schedule an estimate. Steven kept us updated throughout the project. The crew that came out to work on our home were very professional and hard working. They were here early everyday of the project. The job was well done and we were very pleased with our beautiful new ceilings. We would definitely recommend them and would not hesitate to use them again on a future project.

This was our second time with Original Richard and we were just as happy the second time. They arrived on time, protected the work area, and cleaned up well. The ceilings were a mess, but after their repair you would never know there was a problem. Excellent. Didn't respond to email, but did respond to phone. We will always call Original Richard first for any similar work.

Richard came out to give a free estimate, and we discussed what I wanted done. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. The workers showed up on time and did a wonderful job. They even finished ahead of schedule. They were very neat, and cleaned up afterwards and even insisted on moving the furniture back to where it had been.

Original Richard was really great to work with. We sent them pictures of the spots that needed fixing, their workman was on time, brought everything he needed and tidied up his workspace as he worked. The stucco looks great and we couldn't be happier with the price.

Fine. On time and professionally done. In and out in hardly 30 minutes. Very pleased with the quality of the work. $150 charge seemed high, but was set by the contractor because he said he might experience hidden problems in the relocation. I felt he should have given me a price adjustment when it became apparent and resulted that it was the simplest of tasks that he completed in 30 minutes. In hindsight, it wasn't clear that this was a fixed price job, but the resulting ~$300/hr rate seems excessive for this trade. But it does not seem to be unusual based on my discussions during my search.

We were very very impressed with Original Richard. Richard came right away to give an estimate. He listened very carefully to my concerns and needs for the project, made several suggestions on the best way to go, and also told me where the cost might change if they found further damage after removing the current stucco. We were on a tight budget as this repair was needed to stop water intrusion every time it rained, but we had not planned on it at all. Richard accommodated us by finding ways that I could do some of the work to save money. For example, I went to the LB City office and obtained the permits, which saved OR from having to spend all day in the city office, so Richard did not charge me for permits. Also I have done house painting before, so Richard planned the work so that it would be easiest for me to paint it after they finished. Finally, Richard was planning on charging me for insulating the entire wall, but there was really only about 70sq ft that needed insulation, but couldn't have been done from the inside, so I offered to do it myself and purchased the insulation. When Richard realized that it was minimal work, he just had his guys install it for free. OR also worked with us to schedule the work around the inspections, our schedule, as well as the needs of the job. The crews came when they said they would, and finished ahead of schedule. Everybody that worked on our house was, clean, polite, respectful of our needs and our property. They worked quickly and did a very high quality job. I know a fair amount about construction work, and I watched every step of the work. They were all meticulous and paid great attention to detail. Where they came across problems (like rotten chipboard under part of the stucco wall, or rotten framing 2x4s around windows), they pointed them out immediately, explained what the problem was, and then fixed it to considerably better than simply repaired. OR asked for a down payment, half the cost when work started, and the rest on completion. They worked with me to pick up the payments and there were no surprises in the bill. I even gave them the final check a couple days before the finished for good, and OR didn't cash it until they were completely done and I had said I was happy. I had looked at several contractors to do this job. OR was not the cheapest, but I was impressed by their reviews and really impressed by Richard's professionalism, knowledge, interest in my needs, and thoroughness when giving me the estimate. I am glad I paid the slightly higher costs and got a much higher quality of job. I am already calling OR in to do a couple more estimates for work I want to do in the near future.
