The service was great, they were on time and worked all day long. They never stopped except for lunch and there was absolutely no loitering. It is important to give credit where credit is due because it is so rare to find great work from great people today.

Original Richards employees were here on the scheduled time. The prepared the rooms by taping plastic sheeting so that the floors wouldn't get ruined (hardwood floors) and they they proceeded with the removal. It took two days for them to complete everything and I couldn't be happier. None of the cracks that they repaired came back but some new one have come into existence from the recent earthquakes. Original Richard will be back to repair the new crack in the near future.

The owner came out as promised and provided the estimate. After signing off the crew came out and performed the work. I would say their work was good and they were good enough to ask if I wanted the plastic covers left up on the window sills and the floor in case I was going to paint immediately after. This was a courteous thought. I thought the experience was good overall but maybe the price was a bit high but I'm not really sure if that's the going rate since I didn't have the time to receive other bids.

He did not do any of the work and sent a separate guy. He is the worst. Do not give jobs to that company. He is terrible. He put us at a total stand still. He damaged our beautiful wood floor. Bad scratches in our wood floor. He was suppose to install some light fixtures, toe grips, and trim on our doors. He cut our trim too short and we had to redo it. Damaged our $8000 cabinets. We ordered skin because he said he would put that in and never did. Everything about him is an F.

The quality of the plastered ceiling was very poor in my opinion. It did not look good as there were quite a few places where I wondered if they even tried to make the ceiling look good or just get the project done with minimal effort. We had to constantly fight for them to do what they promised. The house was incredibly dirty after they were done with the plastering and we had to fight to have them clean up as they promised they would do. It was a very frustrating experience.

He did a wonderful job, the ceiling looks terrific. They came out on time and completed the job in a good amount of time and he was highly recommended by the electrician. He did a beautiful job leveling the ceiling and finishing the work.

This is the first step for us in a big remodel so we needed fixtures removed and closets done. In the initial walkthrough, I was not specific about needing the fixtures and closets done. (Tip: Be really, really specific about everything that you want done when you get that original bid!) On the agreed upon date and time, the Original Richard crew did the fixtures and a couple closets anyway. After reviewing the work I noticed a couple of spots that needed further smoothing and I wanted the rest of the closets done so ended up paying an additional $450 (original bid was $3500) to have one person come out and go over everything with a fine tooth comb. Still, this was $500 to $1000 cheaper than every other bid that we got.

The only reason I didn't use him was because it was a timing issue. He was professional and it seemed like a good price for the job.

Excellent. Very professional. Returned our phone call. Came to our house for signed agreement and $100 deposit. Said they would start job the following day at 9 a.m. and they were there a little before 9. He finished work in three hours. Did a great job.

Richard of Original Richard came out on 9/5/12 to give an estimate on removing the acoustical (popcorn) ceiling in our living room, dining room, den, and 2 hallways, as well as an estimate on some plaster work in our kitchen. He arrived within the time frame I was given, and was professional in his attitude. The estimate/contract, however, was somewhat vague as to the particulars of the job. It only stated "scrape only no repair work included" The estimate for the repair work would be given after the ceiling was scraped. I was a bit uncomfortable about this as I don't like going into a contract without hard figures( If you watch People's Court you know why). I did in the end decide to trust him, and was only charged an extra $400 for repairs of 3 very large ceiling cracks, and seam repair,mudding of some seams, and spraying "orange peel" texture to the drywall ceiling in the den. The day of the work (10/19/12), Richard arrived at 6:45am within the 6:30-7:00am time frame and started the taping up of the plastic sheeting. His crew arrived maybe an half hour later. My husband and I were then sealed in our master bedroom for the remainder of the day (with an HD tv, DVD player, and our computers it wasn't too much of a hardship) The workers were all very polite when we interacted with them. They finished around 4:30- 5:00pm. As it was early evening there was little daylight to illuminate the ceilings, and the lamps had all been removed. The ceilings looked ok after the initial inspection. Later that evening, with the lamps providing more detail, we double checked the work. While the den and back hallway were done well (drywall ceiling) we found that the ceilings in the living/dining rooms, and the front hallway weren't completely scraped clean (not paint ready). The newly plastered ceiling areas were not smooth, and some areas had grooves. The kitchen plaster work was worse. The plaster repair in many areas were not blended into the old plaster leaving very marked holes or ridges. The switchplates were not removed, and plaster was all over the tops of them. There was also some plaster splattered on the floor. The plastic sheeting in the hallway by the bedrooms did not properly contain all the water, and several areas were sopping, squishing through the toes wet. I tried to sop of the water with towels, but the area was so wet that it took at least 3 days to dry. Luckily, we have a raised foundation, so the floor can air out from underneath as well. As the work was on a Friday, I had to wait until Monday to call about the ceilings. (This was frustrating as we couldn't do anything in those rooms such as prime the ceilings, and put the items back that we had to take out. ) The gal in the office sounded mortified that the ceilings weren't done correctly. She had Richard call me as soon as he had finished the job he was on. A couple hours later he called and arranged to have the ceilings and plaster redone the following day (Tuesday). They arrived around 3:10pm and sanded down the ceilings and the kitchen plaster work which took about 3 hours. Again, the workers were very nice and acted in a professional manner. Richard expressed concern that the work was not done correctly the first time. While we were not happy that the attention to the finish details were lacking with these particular workers, Richard, within one day of being made aware of it, made things right. We were very pleased that Richard takes pride in his work, and his willingness to take immediate action to remedy a problem.

Our house was in need of our Acoustic Ceiling being repaired and respread. Richard was prompt and cheerful. He started rightaway placing plastic over all of our furiture. The process was fast and professional. In fact the spraying of the ceilings took less time than expected. Thank you to Richard and his employees for making a possibly messy job run smoothly...I will be calling this company again. Original Richards has been in business for 38 years. Than you again from a very pleased customer.....

Richard provided an estimate to retexture our ceilings and plaster our fireplace. He was prompt, friendly and provided an estimate on the spot, which is always nice to have. He's also willing to work on the price a bit. However, we didn't hire the company to do the ceilings as it was approx. $500 more than another bid and $700 more than the lowest bid. I'm sure he was willing to come down, but we thought the gap was too much. Richard provided the lowest estimate to plaster our outdated brick fireplace. We're certain the project would have met our expectations, but we went with someone else who did the work himself.

The process was quick and simple and Original Richard's employees made sure that everything was cleaned up. As stated above the service, they arrived a little late but the end product was very satisfying. It was a job well done!

They could have started the day after I got the estimate, but I needed more time to get the area prepped and move out the stuff from the rooms. I scheduled the work for the next week after the estimate. The work went smoothly and quickly. Richard likes to start early (6AM) - the customer rep said that they would arrive between 6-7 AM, but the crew was at my door at 6AM on the dot. They started by covering the walls, floors and furniture with plastic. I couldn't remove all of the furniture in the rooms, so I was relieved when Richard said that they would be able to work around the furniture (two big desks, one in each room). They hooked up a hose to one of my outside faucets and removed the acoustic ceiling. It's a wet and messy job, but except for one small spot on one wall, they didn't leave any traces behind. The spot that was left was easily cleaned with a damp paper towel. As they started to refinish the ceiling after the removal, they discovered that they could easily finish the ceiling in a smooth finish instead of using a texture. For some reason, I lucked out and my ceilings allowed for the ability to make a smooth finish. They asked me ahead of time what my thoughts were and that they would do it for the same price - this was very nice since we had to pay extra last time to have a smooth finish done. I opted for the smooth finish, but wanted to see it first. They finished the smallest room first and showed me the results which looked great. They did warn me ahead of time that if I went with the smooth finish that I would have to do a little light sanding before I primed and painted since there would be a few rough spots. They finished the other rooms and hallway and cleaned up everything. The foreman walked me through each room and explained what I needed to do after they left. I was surprised that I had to do a little extra work (besides the sanding) - I would have to fill in a small gap between the ceiling and the walls with painter's caulk before priming. This isn't a big deal, but I guess I didn't have to do this on the prior work because the ceilings were different (angled dormers instead of a flat ceiling). 6AM is really early, but they gives them a jump on the day and allowed them to finish by 4PM the same day.
