Original Richard

Original Richard had done extensive work in my condo and a week later, my bathroom outlets wouldn't work (on a weekend, naturally). My gut told me this had nothing to do with what was done the prior week, but I picked up the phone anyway to leave a message with Original Richard about the problem. I also followed up with an email. This was on a Sunday and that evening, Richard himself called me to find out what was wrong. After discussing it with him and both of us knowing it was pure coincidence that it happened a week after they were here, I said, "Should I call an electrician?" Richard said it would cost me easily $150-200 just to have an electrician come out, not to mention whatever work they do when they got here. Then he offered to send one of his guys out to take a look. By Sunday night, the wheels were in motion to have someone from Original Richard come over the next morning to check out the electrical issue. Sure enough it was as simple as a bad GFI outlet that needed to be replaced and only ended up costing me $115. The only reason I rated the punctuality a B instead of an A is because my boyfriend rescheduled a conference call so he would be available when the gentleman arrived at 9:00 but he didn't arrive until 9:45 (and the conference call was rescheduled for 10). This is quite minor and trivial, but it is more accurate to give a B rating for this. Richard did not need to call me on a Sunday and exchange emails that night to get someone scheduled but he did. And for such a small job too. I think this speaks to the kind of customer service you can expect from Original Richard. Too bad I don't have more work needed. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

The work was done in a two bedroom townhome. They arrived at 7:15am on a Monday and immediately got to work covering everything in ample amounts of plastic. A total of 10 guys were there and by 9:30am, all the ceilings had been scraped. When they wrapped up that first day at 5:30pm, ceilings were scraped and textured, Quiet Rock was installed and textured and most (maybe all) of the housings for the lights were in place. I had to OK the placement of the lights in the upstairs office and it was like another world in there with all the plastic and mess. These poor guys were working in the equivalent of a greenhouse since the plastic was essentially encasing everything, preventing any kind of ventilation. Fortunately the weather was mild that day but I can't imagine what it would be like on a hot day. They were extremely fastidious with the cleanup! I could hear someone vacuuming the bedrooms and when I came inside, someone was even wiping down my kitchen counters! I saw what a mess things were that first day and you would never know it if you saw the place that evening. The entire project was complete by 3:30pm on a Wednesday! I am very happy with the results and the crew that did the work.

Work was done quickly and well, completed within a day. Crew arrived on time and worked diligently until job was completed. They did a great job with cleanup. All work was completed within a day. I am happy with the quality of the work. The only minor issue was that some windows had been painted shut. I notified them of the problem the next day, and they came the morning after that with a crew and fixed all the issues.

The crew arrived promptly and finished the job ahead of schedule. They brought at least 6 people and worked all the jobs concurrently. I was impressed by how they prepared the job. With the crew they brought they were able to finish everything in 1 day, which was a little better than what had been promised. Work looked great, and after the job was done they cleaned up after themselves very well.

Richard and his team were both punctual and professional at every step along the way. After 50+ years, numerous coats of paint and a new roof it was time to have this 1200 sq. ft. house re-stucco. Richard and his team did a great job from beginning to end. Jacky did a great job communicating and scheduling the various crews. The Sandblasters arrived as scheduled and did their job including power washing the majority of the mess up and away. Edgar and his crew arrived the next day to do all the major repairs, scratch coat some areas from replaced rafters and a door and brown coat the entire surface. They returned first thing on Saturday morning to color coat and finished by 3pm. The painters arrived first thing Monday morning, prepped, primed and painted the eves. Every team did an outstanding job, I will not hesitate to call Richard and his team again.

The crew showed up at 2pm on the first day and worked until 9pm, returning at 6:30am the next day to finish. While I was impressed with their work ethic, I think their haste reduced the overall quality of the work. I had expected that the drywall work would be finished ready to prime and paint. I was disappointed in the amount of mud splash/excess mud left on my beams, and areas where extra caulking/mud was needed. I have spent many hours scraping excess mud off my beams in preparation for painting. Pictures attached

Original Richard helped us out with short notice. Good contact with home office (Jacky) who acted very professionally. Quick response with an offer without a visit. We sent photos and facts. Richard was in the loop during this process which was reassuring. The job got started within three work days. The installer, Edgar, and his three team members arrived promptly on time and were a pleasure to work with. (Edgar even showed up a day before to see what needed to be done.) They worked fast and efficiently. It took a full day. An observation: To get a top quality result you need to #1 be very precise on what you want to have done and #2 do a fair amount of quality follow up. (After the brown layer, the surface appeared smooth and even enough. But that was not true over all. When that was pointed out, it was rectified without any hesitation. However, there were areas we didn't spot in time, thus they are less appealing. We admit that for this wall, we had very high expectations since this entire wall will be all lit up at night. Still, we are satisfied with the result and can definitely recommend Original Richard and the Edgar team for a stucco project. For total satisfaction be sure you follow in their footsteps. The Edgar team is great to work with and they will respond to your issues.

I hired these guys again to remodel my bathroom upstairs. I couldnt be happier (well I could if it was a little cheaper, they arent the cheapest, but not the most expensive bid i got either) They did such a great job, and they cleaned up after themselves every night when they left. It only took three days and my bathroom is beautiful! I love it. these guys are amazingly good at what they do. i have hired them three times now and each time I am impressed. thanks all of you

Richard was prompt in inspecting the job and writing the proposal. There was a rainy forecast so it was imperative the the wall was weatherproofed before the storm hit. The stucco team arrived the next day and completed the break out ,the re-lath and stucco brown coat so that no rain would enter the home. After a day's rain and no leakage the guys returned on Saturday and applied the final coats achieving an acceptable color match to the existing stucco, and a neat finish around the new doors and windows, completing the job before the rain started again. Clean up was completed and apart from some dust and debris inside the wall from the old stucco break out, there was very little mess. Very satisfied overall and we shall be calling on Original Richard again in the future.

They worked quickly and beautifully for the exterior. They had to charge extra for interior. They worked two days on interior and less than one day on exterior. The interior was estimated at $2000 and exterior at $400. They were very clean, punctual, efficient and did a good job. The office staff was responsive .

Following the positive experience we had with Original Richard (scraping our ceiling and installing recessed lights), and knowing he's a licensed general contractor, we called him back to ask him to install four additional can lights and an attic ladder. This was no small request as I really needed the job done in the next couple of days so that I could access the attic over the holiday break. Richard came through again. The workers arrived the next morning, prepped the area with plastic and installed everything with great craftsmanship that day. By the time I got home, there wasn't any evidence of them being there except a perfectly-installed ladder and lights that worked beautifully - and were placed exactly where I requested them. As I mentioned in a previous review, the entire team takes immense pride in their work, go to extensive lengths to limit the inconvenience to the homeowner, and are an overall great group of guys. Highly recommended. Looking forward to working with them again.

I wondered if the crew who was here this time was going to do as good as the last crew since they were different guys. They were respectful, talented, FAST and again they cleaned up every single thing! I know that is funny that this is what impresses me the most, but i have had total horror stories in regards to contractors, and they never leave the job clean let alone this same quality of work. I have recommended these guys and the would do so again!

We went with their bid because they had the best price and seemed very capable and honest (which is not always the case). They were very professional, on time, and did a good job. They got every inch of the house completed. Richard is available if you need him and the guy he had in charge on site at the house was very good. They cleaned up the property very well when they left.

After years of dealing with the pitfalls of acoustic ceilings (appearance, falling "popcorn" if it's bumped, etc.) and terrible lighting in three rooms, we contacted Original Richard. Richard scheduled an estimate the next day and actually called to announce that he could arrive early. He was clearly a professional (38 years in the business) and offered a fair quote. What was particularly noteworthy however was the integrity and character he displayed. He had only positive things to say about the other company I was considering. Hard-selling or badmouthing the competition to win business wasn't as important to him as being honest with his customer. I respect that. The crew arrived on time the following Wednesday. All were very respectful of our property, time and it's clear they all take great pride in their work. What a refreshing surprise. The only minor hiccup was that scraping the ceilings was more complicated due to the way the acoustic was initially applied (Richard had mentioned this possibility during the initial estimate), so the house was still uninhabitable in areas. They made sure we could get to areas we absolutely needed to access that night (much appreciated), but I wish I had known to ask for a text or call if the project was running slightly behind schedule that day. Other than that minor inconvenience, the guys finished the job beautifully over the next two days. Richard, not surprisingly, called the next day to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. It was. From Richard to his crew to every interaction with his office, it was as pleasant a project as you could ask for.

I was very pleased with the out come of the work that Richard provided. The first impression was lasting. Richard was fast to reply to my Angie's List email. He came to my home and provide a solution that was suitable for my problem. He started the job on time and completed it when he said he would. Richard displayed professionalism at all times and so did his crew. I will use Richard again in the future.

I originally received a quote by phone / email. Being that I'm not comfortable with quotes site unseen, I asked for someone to come out and visually inspect. I don't like having estimates change after work has started because nobody actually did a proper visual inspection. The owner came out for a visual inspection then provided a quote. The quote did change but I was ok with that because it was based on an 'eyes on' review. The quote was based on all materials being provided by me. The work the door installer did left some things undone and the workers (2) that came out fixed everything. I told Richard I wanted everything 'done' and done right. There were 2 visits. On the first, the guy patched the exterior stucco around the door, correcting the flashing paper that was not properly tucked in by the installer and a couple of other items. He also primed the door for painting and patched the interior plaster. The second visit, a few days later, another guy did the stucco texturing to match the existing, painted the exterior stucco and door, replaced and painted the interior baseboard that was damaged by the door installer and painted the interior around the door, including door trim. I would recommend Original Richard. If you want a job done (completely) and done right, tell the prospective contractor. I've had bad experiences before and I'm glad to say that I did not have a bad one with Original Richard.

STOP! AND LOOK NO FURTHER! You will not beat Original Richard's. I contact Richard, the owner and he quickly came out to bid the job. The first thing that I noticed was that he knows his business. He has many year's of experience and he works with the customer and offers suggestions prior to his quote. His knowledge as a contractor is very impressive to say the least. The day of the job and every day forward his men arrived as promised. His men know exactly what they needed to do and they did it VERY WELL. Each man is skilled in his field. The house was thoroughly taped so that everything that was not to get stucco would stay clean. The men worked as a team and accomplished what needed to be done as quickly as possible. Once the job was done eveything was cleaned and put back. Richard came back to the house after the job was done to check if everything was completed and to see if we had any questions or concens. In addition, whenever you need to get a hold of Richard his secretary is always there to help and get a hold of him as needed. I cannot say enough good things about Original Richard's. I know you will make a good choice when you choose this quality company.

It took several attempts to coordinate but he was on time when we finally did meet. He seemed very knowledgeable. However, his quote was almost twice as high as other quotes. We received three other bids which ranged from $3,200 - $3,900. We usually do not go with the low bid but his bid was so much higher than others it was not reasonable. He did ask if we had received other bids and I told him yes and the range. As he left he offered to bring his painter to look at the job to see if he over estimated.

We were extremely happy with the end result. Richard was great to work with and his crew was great.

I was very impressed. They gave me a bid (that I changed twice) and even with the additions the bids increase in price was very fair! (first shocker) they showed up 15 minutes late but called me to say they were running 30 late (impressed that I even got a call, then they were early)They did the work fast and it looked great. I love the paint job they did. They fixed my acoustical ceiling too and you cant even tell the old from the new!They cleaned up after themselves. (What! Contractors never do this)They were very respectful to my furniture, home and me! I already referred them to my ex-husband. I will use them again when i paint the upstairs this spring.

The job was scheduled in 3 phases. The drywall removal, new electric run and new dry wall. All 3 phases went as planned and on time.
