+ -1 moreWe needed to install an iron railing on an outside staircase that leads to the front door. However, our home has historical designation and we needed to match an existing 1926 railing on the upper part of the staircase. Jim Peterson was able to reproduce the existing railing perfectly and installed it without damaging the existing concrete or landscape. It took few more weeks than initially anticipated because a detailing of the railing had to be specifically cast out of state, but he kept us in the loop and we agreed it was the right way to go. We're very happy with the work and and would definitely use him again.
Description of Work: Built and installed an outdoor stair railing to match an existing historical railing.

Description of Work: I chose Coast Iron Works because it's a local company, just a few miles from our location. We had a small security bars project that HAD to be done to bring a rental property up to code. First I emailed, to which I received a reply; but there was no follow-up phone call as promised. When I called the company, I reached the person I had emailed - Jim - but he didn't remember the contact. At first, I was happy with Jim's immediate response. He came out that day to look at what needed to be done, and gave us a quote. We agreed, and set an appointment for that Friday. However, no one showed up as scheduled, nor was there a phone call to follow-up. Then, when I finally WAS able to reach Jim, he again didn't seem to remember us or our job. We set another time and day, and again he was a no show. Several subsequent messages over the next few weeks went unanswered, so we had no choice but to forget our effort to support our local business economy. I had high hopes for this provider, because the examples of their work seemed to be of good quality; but if they won't show up for a "small" customer like us, that's an "F" to me.

+ -1 moreOverall everything went very smoothly. Jim suggested a custom color to blend with the house. It looks great! My mom is 89, so we wanted solid, quality railings, which we received, plus the design and color are very professional. We are very happy with Cast Iron Works, and would highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: We had three wrought iron railings installed along the steps leading up to my mother's front porch. We have cement steps, so Jim bored into the cement about 8", I think, and cemented the uprights in to give the railing more strength.

Description of Work: They fixed 3 locks and installed a handle on my wrought iron gates. Now all my gates work great. They were quick too.

+ -1 moreGustavo Leon, the representative came out for a quote. He was on time and helpful. Their quote was the least amount out of three quotes. After we approved the contract the crew came out for detailed measurements and design considerations. Coast fabricated the railing and were willing to use a specific type of paint that I recommended, which I supplied. The installation was performed on two different days. The first day went well. They did enough prep work to protect our brand new wood floor from scratches. The second time they came out to finish the job, they did not do as much prep work. That was unfortunate, because that was the day they dropped a tool and dinged a couple stairs. Because of some design changes and building codes they included an additional grab rail with no change to the original bid. They touched up any areas that needed additional painting and passed the final inspection. The new rail looks fantastic and is now in compliance with building codes.
Description of Work: Coast fabricated, painted and installed a new semi-custom, wrought iron guardrail and handrail for the stairwell in my home.
