J & J POOL SERVICE

I called my nephew, Joe and told him I was interested in installing a pump/motor that would qualify for the SCE pool rebate. Joe called me back about a week and a half later to tell me he had the pump and motor and we set a date and time to install it. The installer arrived on time and replaced the old equipment with the new equipment. However, because the equipment is controlled through a computer, he said that John and Joe would come the next day to program it. John and Joe programed the computer the next day. I had asked that the pump start at 7:00 pm and turn off at midnight. They gave me a brief (5-10 minute) demonstration on how to program it, and how to manually turn it on and off. The equpment they installed is designed to control numerous functions - filter, heater, lights, fountains. I had concerns about this because I only have a filter and thought that this was more than I needed. Joe assured me that this was exactly what I needed for this pool. I had to contact Joe later in the week and ask that he send me a detailed invoice which included the model numbers of the pump and motor. The one he originally gave me was written on an "Estimate" form and did not describe the equipment installed. It would not have qualified for the SCE rebate. I noticed the next morning that the filter was running at 5:30 a.m. so I shut it off. I noticed that it was running again at 6:30 pm so I shut it off again. This continued for a couple of days. I called Joe to tell him about this. He suggested I contact the supplier who sold the equipment to him and ask them about it - I didn't do that. The pump continued pump going on at odd hours, and I continued to call Joe. Joe assured me that he would fix it and said that they would be out in a day or two to reprogram it. They never come out and they never called me. I contacted another pool person and paid for them to reprogram the timer - it is now working the way it should. J&J Pool Service cashed my check two days after the installation, and I have never heard from them since they promised to come out but didn't. By their behavior, I would say that they are very unprofessional and unreliable. I think they installed equipment that they were unfamiliar with and did not know how to program or operate it. I wouldn't use them again and I certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone I know.

WE HAVE BEEN USING J & J POOL SERVICE FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS. WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE OF THEIR SERVICES. THEY ARE VERY DETAILED IN THE WORK AND DO A VERY GOOD JOB IN SERVICING OUR POOL. EACH WEEK THEY CLEAN OUR POOL AND JACUZZI LEAVING THE POOL SPARKLING CLEAN. HE ALSO CHECKS OUR PUMPS PERIODICALLY AND MAKES SURE EVERYTHING IS WORKING IN TIP TOP CONDITION. THEY ALWAYS MAKE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS IF ANYTHING IS NEEDED FOR THE POOL. BEFORE DOING ANY WORK THEY ALWAYS HAVE THE COURTESY TO GIVES US AN ESTIMATE OF WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AND HOW MUCH IT WILL COST. THEY ARE VERY RESPONSIBLE AND VERY PROFESSIONAL.
