It was a challenging job as the first person we hired to do this job (as part of a house remodel), skipped town after ONLY drilling holes into our new stairs. The holes were spaced pretty close together, closer than spindles usually are. But Jerry found a way to make it work and the spindles look great. The railing is comfortable and smooth on all sides and we love the attention to detail and color as we ended up with something that really met our needs beautifully.
Description of Work: Jerry and his team built and stained a lovely wood railing with metal spindles for our new interior stairs.

The guys were here at exactly the agreed upon time and did a better job than I could have dreamed. The stainers and painters also were wonderful. I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I received a bid from someone who was going to sand and re-stain the stairs. But I only paid about a thousand dollars more to have a complete new system.
Description of Work: I needed to have my stairway "freshened up". After talking with them, I agreed that bringing my stairway up to code was important and I also wanted a new look. Good-bye golden oak.

I'm very happy that I ultimately went with Pacific Coast Stairs for this project. Jerry and Brian really know their stuff and are very personable (and patient) guys as well. Even after I changed my mind on the concept of the railings, Jerry found a way to accommodate my "new vision" and came pretty darn close to a price point I was comfortable with. The quality of their craftsmanship is incredible. I get compliments on the rails by everyone who sees them for the first time and I personally love seeing them when I walk in the front door every day.

Jerry and Brian were very professional. The work was completed in 3 days which is what was quoted. The staircase and landing were cleaned every evening before we arrived home. The quality of work was exceptional, Jerry even added a couple of small shelves on one of the walls which looks great. I would definitely recommend Pacific Coast Stairs, they are very professional and provided quality work!

The project went really well. It was finished on schedule and at the original quote amount. Jerry and Brian are true craftsman. The quality of work and is really high. It is obvious that they have a true passion for what they do and focus on high quality craftsmanship. The pricing is competitive but they will focus on quality over price. We are really happy that we chose to use them. The new stairs are beautiful and a highlight of the house.

They removed an old stairway. Worked on each step of the installation at the premises. Each stair had to be individually sized, they worked on the rail, completed the job and then brought in two very professional people who did the staining.
Description of Work: provider installed a complete stairway in our 44 year old home. They did an amazing job, on time, punctual, professional and very considerate of our comfort while getting the job completed. They are master craftsmen and know their trade exceptionally well I would recommend them for any stairway, they also have a very good sense of design.

We completely remodeled the interior of our house before we moved in. I knew I wanted to replace the staircase as it was the first thing you see when you walk into our house and it is the focal point of our entryway. My general contractor had said that he would be able to do this, but I thought I should look into getting a professional service. I had lined up a few quotes, but honestly, cancelled the other quotes once I met Jerry from Pacific Coast Stairs. He was so patient and courteous when he came out to give me the quote, that his personality won me over! Of course, the fact that he had glowing reviews online and beautiful pictures of his previous works helped too! Jerry knows his stuff when it comes to stairs, and wood and what works and what doesn't. When it came time to putting the stairs in, he was able to accommodate our schedule with very short notice... And the process was amazing. They literally rebuilt our stairs piece by piece, right there in front of the house. The level of detail was incredible and Jerry (who by the way was there every second of it) was meticulous. The attention to every small piece, angle and curve was amazing, and expectation of quality was readily apparent. At the end, we had a stunning staircase that makes our entry grand and inviting. ! I would not hesitate to recommend Jerry and his guys to anyone who wants to redo their stairs. He is a professional and cares about what he does, the product that he makes, and his customers

Jerry and Brian (owners) are very professional in their work. The arrived on time and completed the job in a timely manner. Each day after their work was completed, they cleaned up any dust and mess they might have created. Their work was some of the finest I've seen. Jerry , as well as doing carpentry work, takes care of the business end of the job. Brian as well as Jerry are perfectionists. The price they charge is not the cheapest, but is the best. As they say, you get what you pay for. This was money well spent.

We stained the cabinets in the kitchen, downstairs bathroom and laundry room. We wanted to stairs to match. We got quotes from several vendors. We went with PCS because of their professionalism and friendly nature. Jerry and I communicated first via text messages with pictures. He provided an estimated and said he would need to come out to confirm. Jerry came by to provide a quote and was just the nicest guy you ever met, was friendly with our dog and provided a thorough estimate. We agreed and he walked us through what the entire process would entail and it went just as he said. I can't be more pleased with what they did. It took our home from good to great!!! I would work with PCS and Jerry again in a heartbeat.

Truly, Jerry was our hero. We began this process with a flooring installer who said that his team did staircase remodels as well. And indeed they do, but with terrible craftsmanship. I won't get into the details, but things went from bad to worse with the flooring installer. We called Jerry in to save the day. He did most of the work himself, with some help from a team of specialty stainers. My husband is a perfectionist with an eye for detail - which doesn't make him the easiest client. Jerry's excellent craftsmanship, good communication and integrity won my husband over, in spades. (I might add that Jerry is a veteran AND a former Eagle Scout.) Today we have a gorgeous staircase that wins rave reviews from our friends. It has transformed the space. Jerry's pricing isn't cheap, but it is fair.... and well worth the expense. We have done a number of renovations and they continue, and I can say in complete sincerity that Jerry was a breath of fresh air for us within a stressful process. He was professional, enjoyable and most importantly, highly skilled.

We had our stairs remodeled by Brian and Jerry and they did an amazing job! It?s taken me awhile to write a review because I can?t think of what to write to express how happy we are with their work and our overall experience. We initially chose them over 3 other builders because we believed in the quality of their work and their ethics. They showed up on time, cleaned up when they left and even helped with other questions throughout the day. I was actually expecting a lot of the parts to be pre-made, but Brian hand-crafted the stairs and they are done so beautifully. And there are lots of small details they added that make everything come together. Even the other guys that specialize in framing, drywall, painting & staining were very friendly and did great work. And they all made comments on how Brian is a good, honest guy that does things right. It was easily the best experience we've had with any contractors and we've actually missed having them around!

Description of Work: Jerry did a great job. All work was completed as outlined in the proposal in a timely manner. On the day that he was not scheduled to be working here, he came by to check on the paint work to make sure we were happy with the job. Jerry and his partner Brian are very professional. It was a pleasure working with Pacific Coast Stairs, and I would not hesitate hiring his company again. Chuck

If I could give these guys 10 stars I would. I'm not big on writing reviews but the job that Pacific Coast Stairs did is well worth my time to express the superior quality that was obtained upon completion. I can?t say enough positive things about Jerry and Brian! When Jerry came by for a quote, he was very up front and complete as to the project details, and very competitively priced. Not to mention very friendly and professional. The job started on time, and they got in and went straight to work. The first couple days of demo went on without a hitch. And once they left after each day they left my house very clean, and ready for the next days work. As we got into day 3, turns out my stair installation was by no means a walk it the park. What turned out to be a "routine" stair replacement, ended up being a job that was well above and beyond the initial project. Beginning with increasing the headroom in the stairwell, which led to removing a surprising 2x2 piece of concrete, and onto raising as section of the roof in order to increase stairwell head clearance. The house I own is the furthest thing from ordinary construction as you can get, once you start digging there are surprises are around every corner. Both Jerry and Brian took the project and the unforeseen challenges and did everything they could to do the project right, and build the stairs that had been agreed upon. Bending over backwards is an understatement. I firmly believe that any other contractor would have just walked off the job, but not these guys! They understood the changes that needed to happen, and took the appropriate steps to complete the job as planned. And the job that was done was done perfectly! They are very skilled in their trade, and it shows. I could find no flaws in their work. On top of all this, both Jerry and Brian are great guys. Friendly, easy to talk to, and simply just a pleasure to have around. All in all, outside of the unpredicted problems, my stair replacement went very smooth, and I got exactly what I was looking for. This was a very positive experience. I would absolutely recommend these guys, and I plan on calling them back for any further projects I want to do.

If I could give these guys a grade of A+ I completely would!!! These guys are absolutely amazing!!! I had called about 5 different contractors for estimates on replacing my stair railings. I had all sorts of price quotes, but Jerry gave me a quote and told me, "...the difference between my estimates and someone else that may be lower, is that mine is all inclusive. I'm not going to show up and say oh we missed this or forgot about this and nickel and dime you to death..." Well not only was he right, he was RIGHT!!! DAY 1 of the job and it's discovered that the existing metal rails were not supported under the stairs by anything. The crew pulled up the flooring and installed extra support underneath. Later that day they found the same problem for one of the posts upstairs. They cut my ceiling open, installed extra support and made sure that not only was my stair railing beautiful, but it was safe for my kids! Day 2 the guy showed up to CUSTOM make a stain for the wood (again included in the price already), made a PERFECT match to what we asked for and applied a beautiful color and sealed finish to the posts. Day 3 Jerry and Brian show up for the touch up and finish work. These two were quite possibly the nicest contractors that I have ever worked with!!!! Not only did they finish the install, they fixed a bunch of little things and went above and beyond to ensure that my stair railing AND my stairs looked absolutely perfect. I can't recommend these guys enough, honest, caring and priced right!!! If you need something done with your stairs, these are the guys to call!!! Thank you for a beautiful railing and for helping me to ensure that my family/children are safe in our home!

Everything from the first contact to get estimates to the follow up inspection after the jobs were completed went perfectly. Jerry and Bran were punctual, friendly and did not waste time. What we really did appreciate was the detailed explanation of what they would be doing, even outlining the possible mess that would be made but kept to a minimum. Jerry and Brian, co-owners, were very hands on with the jobs. Their finisher, Arturo, with Elizalde Wood Finishing, was great too. They did an excellent job including complete cleanup both inside and in the garage where they cut the wood. We would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs outstanding woodworkers. We will absolutely use them again for any of our remodeling jobs.
Description of Work: Pacific Coast Stairs has done two outstanding jobs in our new condo. They build two beautiful handrails going up the stairs then came back for the second job of installing an 18' poplar cap with oak trim on 2 loft walls. The construction activities went very well despite running into some problems with irregular size door frames that were installed when the house was originally built. There were some schedule delay due to door size problem. Brian, Jerry and Richard were all very professional and pleasure to work with. Very knowledgeable and resolved several issues that came up during construction activities. They were very flexible and helpful in identifying problems and explaining options to resolve them. Very customer oriented and looked after our best interest throughout the construction activities. The only area for recommendation to improve is during the construction activities the dust and debris are unavoidable; however, they could have been little more organized to reduce the mess and chaos, and to let us know ahead of time so that we can cover up more carefully to avoid the dust all over bathroom and bedroom furniture.
