I have been growing in the trades from 1975, from my first job in a lumber yard stacking lumber then building custom furniture as well as obtaining a background in plumbing. This led to my first job as an electrical helper at age seventeen, by the time I was twenty I was in charge of a Los Angeles based Company for seventeen years. We work with and for several Property Management companies and we have remolded a Ritz Carlton from the ground up in MDR. For the last several years we have been part of building many homes from the ground up and several remodels. NO JOB IS TOO SMALL, we work on all levels of service. They came out and they checked the box. Fortunately, it was a simple problem. The technician who came out was excellent. He found out almost immediately what the problem was. He was very pleasant and very nice. The owner of the company called us after the work was done to touch base and make sure everything went okay. We were very impressed. I would certainly use them for any other electrical needs that I may have. I was so impressed with his work that I actually had him do some additional work, he added an additional outlet and he explained where and how the work would be done. It was very pleasant working with such a professional company.
Description of Work: We had some problems with some of the outlets. Some of them were not working properly.

Paul had said on the phone that, based on my description, it would be between $85 and $300, depending on the problem. And the whole thing ended up costing 85 bones. How often do you get the lower end of the scale when something could be 85 to 300? Owner Paul really cares about his reputation and his business. Tommy was very professional. And I am a satisfied customer who will call them again if I have a problem.
Description of Work: My garbage disposal didn't work and there was a buzz coming from my electrical box. I was worried that some major problem was developing. Tommy came out, figured out the buzz was something minor and fixed it, and then fixed my garbage disposal, which was only jammed. It wasn't an electrical problem after all but he fixed it anyway.

The electrician showed up on time, understood the problems I asked him to fix, carefully bid the various projects, and completed them promptly. He was extremely professional and helpful. He answered all of my questions and helped me understand the problems he found. I thought the pricing was very fair, but would have liked to have everything written down ahead of time. All in all, the work was excellent and I would readily recommend this company.
Description of Work: The electrician diagnosed disconnected wiring for my 220v outlet and spa circuit. He found the problem quickly and corrected it by consolidating a double wide breaker into two thin breakers. He also installed two outdoor switches, two overhead fluorescent lights, and two outdoor spotlights.

They gave me the information over the phone. They said the one that had been installed was a halogen type which is difficult to find now and I needed to get a sodium vapor type. I was able to do that on my own.

The guys were very attentive and professional, and did a fabulous job at a great price. The only reason I gave a "C" to punctuality was that there was an emergency where the electrician's kid got sick in school and he ended up having to take care of his child and arrived very late. Of course, it's completely understandable as a child's health comes in first place. But as I told the electrician, he should make sure to call his client and let them know what's going on. Still, I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: We were having fuses blowing when using high voltage appliances and we had the electrician redirect some of the circuits in the electrical panel so that this wouldn't happen. Also, we had lights installed in 2 closets.

Paul and crew are awesome. We are renovating (i.e. gutting) our first home and got a few estimates from fellow Angie's List leaders. Tommy came out to walk the property with me and was patient enough to educate us about some things we weren't sure of and advise us of Building & Safety codes. Paul arranged for a service spotter from DWP without my asking (we didn't know to ask) and pulled all appropriate permits for the work they would do. When we gave them the green light Tommy and Jaime were prompt and professional. They took direction extremely well and were flexible with our changes. Fairway Electric has gone above and beyond for us from estimate to inspection and as such will be our first call for any questions and/or alterations to our new home. A++ guys, nice work.

I had an earlier bid for up to $1000 for possible new trenching and new wiring. Fairway came out and discovered 2 switched located outdoors in very difficult to find places. These switches controlled the lights that were not working. They were courteous, prompt and worked well with the tenant. They really put the extra effort in. Their bill was $85 versus a possible $1000.

Circuit breaker kept flipping over causing us to lose power to half our home. Tried to flip it back over to no avail. Emailed Fairway Electric and Paul called back within minutes. Told me he could get Jaime out in a couple of hours. Jaime showed up in that time frame and resolved the issue.

Fairway was responsive, ontime, professional, quick and reasonably priced. We will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: We were having trouble with our breaker tripping and arching at the sub panel box in our house. Our house had been rewired about 2 years ago by another company, so we were confused as to why we were having this problem. We were unable to regain power after resetting the breaker over and over again because it continued to trip, so we called Fairway. They called us back immediately and scheduled an appointment for the next morning. Paul asked us if they needed to come sooner, but we had only lost power in our bedrooms, so we could wait a day. They came in a checked the circuits and all of the outlets in the 2 bedrooms. They discovered an old wire that went to our outdoor patio area was broken, had water damage and was making contact with the conduit and shorting out. Although we didn't love the idea of paying for any issues regarding our electric since we had the house rewired so recently, we were happy Fairway found the problem.

Emailing Paul of Fairway Electric on Sunday afternoon (I believe) with a big sigh, I didn't expect to get a response at the very least till Monday morning. My tenant had discovered a few days prior that the breaker to the power in one of her bedrooms had shut off and it wasn't flicking back on. Paul called me back in probably less than an hour, said he had gotten my email (by the way Do follow the instructions on their site and email Paul and also the details of the problem and you WILL get a 15% discount on the labor!) and was eager to set up the appt. on Monday. I told him to set it up with my tenant as she had some issues about being at the house with having a full time job. They set up the appt. between them, the work got completed on Tuesday or Wednesday(per her request) and I got a bill the following day. I was surprised to see it so high - it was over $400 - and emailed Paul back explaining that I needed more detail of what actually needed repairing. He immediately pulled the original invoice (which he had NOT prepared ) and discovered the billing person had charged me for a whole roll of Electric Wire instead of just the amount the repairman had used. So he redid the invoice, bringing the total down to less that $300....AND......thanked me for questioning the invoice...AND....gave me a 1/2 labor credit on my next job with him. Of course I hope to never need him for a repair again!!!!!!!!!!!! But if I do, i would absolutely use him, and recommend him to anyone wanting a quick and responsible repair with excellent customer service. He definitely went out of his way to make this as pleasant an experience for me as I could probably have had, and for my tenant as well. THANKS PAUL!!!!!!!!
Description of Work: During the heavy rains, a broken conduit had gotten wet and fused the electrical wire together. They had to track down the break in the line, cut out the bad section, re-wire into a new junction box, and replace the bad section of conduit.

I emailed Paul at Fairway to let him know I had experienced the same problem I had contacted him about a few weeks earlier, and which he had taken care of. During that first visit his technician also fixed some additional outdoor lights. This time around, after a brief delay in getting back to me, Paul apologized and promptly sent someone out to take care of the problem. I was very pleased with the technician's thoroughness and courteous manner. The charge for the second visit was nominal.
Description of Work: This was my second call to Fairway Electric, but involved the same problem -- a tripped GFI outlet. The technician checked everything to determine why the same outlet tripped again in just a few weeks. He finally determined that the one they had installed earlier was faulty.

I was very happy with the work. The crew, Tommy and Jaime, did great work and were prompt, professional, and personable. Paul, the owner came around a few times to check on the work, and did a great job of making us feel confident that he'd be close at hand if any problems were to arise in the future. When LADWP told us that our new panel would have to be placed much further away from the street than the original, Paul charged us his cost for the extra materials and nothing for all the extra labor. That was a great gesture that earned him our permanent loyalty.
Description of Work: New 200A panel, new outlets throughout the house, wiring of 2 new water heaters, run electric to a detached garage.

A gentleman named Tommy came out and was very helpful. Not only did he do everything promptly and efficiently, he was very professional. He even made time for some extra repairs I asked for without a problem.

I had to keep leaving the house to get parts, they should have come for an estimate and given me a list of what would be needed, and then scheduled a date for the work to be done. As a result, damage was done to the house since I was unable to oversee the project. So, since I was not there to see the damage it became a case of he said she said. Eventually I just gave up and the damage is going to cost me.

Paul, I called you a few weeks back and you told me to send an email with a list of what I need done at the house. So far I have bought outlet covers, switch plates, and the metal parts that go between the switch plates and the switch & outlet. They all need to be replaced, and I was not sure if that is something you'd be willing to do and how much it would cost.The home is in Venice and I'm looking starting with next week.I can be reached at xxx-xxx-xxxx Thank You,Lxxx Bxxxxx " my reply on Oct 1st. "Yes, Yes, Yes Please let met know what morning we can start. I work with unit numbers just call and we can talk . Paul " We showed up on the job counted the devices, give a install price based on unit numbers. it was a bit over six hundred after discount we settled on $600.00 since the customer did not have all the necessary parts as stated in the E-mail we gave the customer final material list. She then went to the store one time and returned to the house. We completed our job. We were thanked for the work and paid. I followed the job up with a phone call that night to see if everything went well. The next day I received a call that went something like this. There is a chip out of my Bathroom sink. Lager than a quarter. The damage to the sink was directly under the faucet up high right under spout . This is a house that the customer took over recently from her parent's that was built in 1957 and she had not noticed this damage before. This is the extra bathroom. As well there was some type of paint material in the sink I asked was it sharp like porcelain the answer no more like paint. A picture was sent. I talked to my technician who reminded me he was only changing outlets and switches. The tools he was using ( a medium screwdriver and a pair of strippers ) could not make that type of damage with out extra effort,of a deliberate action. I offered to help the customer with repair there is a good porcelain patch on the market. I informed her, I would send someone by to apply the patch if she liked. There was a mention of the bathtub in the master room being refinished by the customer. So I replied let me no if you would like our help and this is the last I heard of from this customer. Part of doing business is, If you make mistakes you fix it before it becomes a problem. it's about respect to the customer. and If we do the damage we will fix it ! That's our responsibility. I had a blackout 2 days ago and half of the lights in my house wouldn't come back on. So I found Fairway Electric here on Angie's List and gave them a call. Spoke to Paul Harris who took the time over the phone to walk me through certain procedures, hoping that there was a cheaper fix. I replaced all the fuses with no love. However we scheduled a noon appointment the next day for one of his guys to check it. Tommy came early and was very professional. He explained to me the different causes that it might be and started to peek around the panel. Unfortunately it was a little more severe then I had hope. Tommy started to test various outlets trying to pinpoint exactly where the faulty wire was in this old house. After an hour and a half or so and a few popped fuses, he found it and was able to quickly fix it. I'm definitely considering these guys for my remodel soon.
Description of Work: Electrician found faulty old wire from laundry light that was causing the short in the circuit. He repaired it and tape it back up. He check several of the outlets around the panel to try and find the problem.

In preparation I was told to have replacement fixtures and parts on hand, and it made the process of troubleshooting much easier as each task was finished. Whereby, much of my electrical problems were more about the type of fixtures and how some wiring never got connected after a remodel from a year before. Their insight and suggestions were welcomed and appreciated.
Description of Work: I had three specific jobs and an extra "look at this" task. The three jobs included troubleshooting a bedroom ceiling fixture, fixing an existing doorbell, and replacing an outdoor outlet. The "look at this" task was to determine why a light switch would get hot.

We contacted Paul at Fairway on Wednesday, 2/9, and he said that they could come Th or Fri. We requested Fri morning. He called the day before to confirm between 10-11am. He considerately called a bit before 11am on Fri saying that the service person would be late. He arrived just about 20 min later. Once he arrived, he was knowledgeable and efficient. He had the parts and replaced the breaker quickly and for the price which was quoted over the phone. We were very pleased.

I called Fairway to obtain an estimate. I initially was put off by the owner's (Paul) declining not to give an estimate based on visiting my house and seeing what needed to be done. Instead, he gave an estimate, which was a dollar range, based on my description over the phone of what I needed done and a description of the layout of my house. I obtained a couple of other estimates and Paul's was within the ballpark of the other estimates. Based on the strong reviews in Angie's List, I hired Fairway. I needed to schedule the work about 10 days in advance so that I could take a day off from work. Fairway accommodated by preferred date. Fairway's electrician, Jaime, arrived right on time and finished the job in one day. Jaime gave a more precise estimate. Jaime was very professional and listened to my requests as to where to locate the fan in the ceiling and to locate the switches in the wall. Jaime was very earnest and hard-working. So far everything's functioning well.
Description of Work: I hired Fairway to install a combo exhaust fan and heater in my bathroom, which included installing separate switches for the fan and heater, and the installation of a new dedicated electrical circuit for the heater power. Also, I had a new outdoor electrical outlet and one GFCI installed in a kitchen outlet.

They have completed some work and I am waiting for some more work to be completed. They are presently trying to get the city permit and government approval. They never follow up on the city permit, and I have no idea if it is complete. Lately the electrition almost double the estimated price, right after complete the job, I don't like their style.
