I am extremely happy with the work Fairway Electric performed during the remodeling of my newly-purchased condo. I had them scope and install approximately 20 recessed lights, 60+ outlets and switches, 3 closet lights, three bathroom mirror sets of lights, GFCI outlets in kitchen/laundry, and their price was exactly as discussed before the job. Their technicians were extremely professional, punctual, and responsive to questions. My HOA president was extremely impressed with the job and will be reccomending the work to future residents. I would reccomend fairway electric to any of my family/friends.

Paul is great! I called him on a Sunday because my lights were flickering severely and I could hear my breaker sizzling. He came out within a few hours and didn't even charge me extra for the Sunday call. He changed 2 breakers and everything works great. He was very polite and professional. He explained everything in a way that I understood and didn't try to sell me on something I didn't need. I would suggest him to anyone and will be having him come back to handle any and all of my electrical needs in the future.
Description of Work: Changed 2 breakers and relocated one breaker.

The owner, Paul, responded promptly and sent his guys out to give a free estimate. When it came time to do the work, Jaime and Oscar were right on time and worked really hard for several hours. The age and layout of the house made it difficult but they worked it all out and now I have everything where I want it. I would highly recommend these guys.
Description of Work: I needed several electrical-related repairs and installations in my new home, including 4 new outlets and installation of a security light.

Fairway was great! After speaking and rescheduling the appt with the boss Paul Harris a few times his technician Tommy and his crew showed up at the appointed time and proceeded to do great work. It was a tricky job since the lighting fixture was brought back from overseas and completely NOT pre wired in any US standard approvable way so Tommy and his team had to replace the sockets and rewire the whole thing in our house ( it was too big to take somewhere else to do). They then had to devise a suspension structure out of cables and chandelier chain in order for it to hang correctly. Add to this the fact we had super high ceilings and a difficult traffic pattern ( in other words they couldn't just walk a 16' ladder in thru my front door) so they had to bring the ladder in thru a window. Tommy (and the whole crew) were very friendly and efficient. They paid attention to details and laid down blankets and coverings to protect our floors, railings, window sills, and pool table. They always got our input before any work was done and asked our preferences about bulb type and remote switch style. All in all they did great work and I would highly recommend them. (The only reason I gave a "B" for responsiveness was that they had to resched an appt. twice at the very last minute and sometimes did not respond to emails till very late at night--but perhaps I just caught them at a very busy time (pre- Thanksgiving). Their actual work was excellent.)

The technician arrived on time and quickly got to work on the items I'd listed and that Paul had quoted a price to me for on the phone when I first called after reading the great recommendations here on Angie's List. He worked quickly and to the best of my memory was done with everything in about an hour. He was also extremely courteous and made a point to clean up saw dust and other remnants from drilling the outlets into the walls of my garage.
Description of Work: Fairway Electric did a great job fixing some electrical odds and ends in my garage. They installed a new outlet in the ceiling for my garage door opener, added a bigger outlet/switch on the wall near my workbench and fixed some exposed wiring that had been pointed out on my original home inspection. They also fixed an outdoor outlet that had stopped working.

I spoke with Paul briefly, and he asked if I could email him the details of the work to be done, as he was about to leave for another client's job. He responded with an "OK, I got it" email. and we spoke about an hour later. We made arrangements to meet at my home that afternoon. I texted him when I got home, and he said he was "on the way". He was there within 30 minutes. I walked him through what our problem was (a circuit that would not work, regardless of flipping breakers or resetting its GFI). He immediately found the problem (burned out GFI), and replaced it and some of the wiring. He made a few suggestions as to what we might want to consider doing with our electrical wiring, but was very careful about the words he chose. I'm a professional salesman and he was NOT pitching me: I know when I'm being pitched... :>) Paul was excellent, very helpful, and pleasant. He was prompt and very reasonably priced. I'll use Fairway Electric again and will recommend him to neighbors and friends.
Description of Work: Determined the nature of our problem. Replaced burned out GFI and some wiring.

We called Paul to do an electrical inspection on a home that we were about to purchase. He was very nice on the phone and promptly scheduled an appointment to come out to the property on October the 10th at 9:30am. I called to confirm the appointment on the 9th via voice mail and I did not hear back from him. On the 10th, he did not show up at 9:30 as scheduled. I called him at 11:30 and he told me that he was having car problems. He then asked if he could come by in the afternoon around 1pm. I said that it would be fine. he then stopped in at 2pm and told us that he could not stay and that he would come back at 5pm. He never did. He called the the next day to ask if he could perform the service without us being there. I did not want to pay for his services after everything that happened the day before. So, I told him that we will go with someone else.
Description of Work: Paul did not perform any service for us because he simply did not show to our appointment.

Yes I tried to make this appointment. But I missed it. This customer was not sure when there house was going to be out of escrow on the 10Th or the 11Th. I received short notice for the 10Th. (PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THEY ALREADY HAD A HOME INSPECTION ON THE PROPERTY) This was a just in case request. (Still important I agree) I tried to make this happen . So happens I also received notice that a Motor Scooter arrived for my wife on the same day the 10Th. We needed to pick it up in Marina Del Rey. The company that received it needed it picked up ASAP, and so did my wife. Her Van Broke down and would not be repaired in a timely manor for her too be at work on Monday. She is a Crossing Guard for the School system. Elementary school kids. I had to choose my wife and the kids being safe or this home inspection. I choose my wife and the kids. I also tried to contact the customer several times as we were backed up on the 405 freeway trying to make our way back to the job. I received two numbers Husband and Wife's. Neither one answered the phone. When the wife called back much later in the evening I said I would look at the main panel the following day. With no fee attached. She said no thank you. To the customer, I am glade to pass on a no charge service call (1hour) for the inconvenience. Sincerely Paul S. Harris 310-864-7171

I was very pleased with my experience with Fairway Electric. Our electrician's name was Paul; a very nice man who came to our house when one of our electric socket was not working. He was very informative, and helpful. The price was very reasonable and he also cleaned up after himself. I will definitely use Fairway Electrical again.

My A/C was out and the circuit breaker in the panel kept blowing. These things only happen on Sunday afternoon. I called Paul and, while he couldn't come out, he advised me on how to safely replace the circuit breaker myself. He even asked me to call back to let him know how it went. Will definitely use Fairway in the future.

I called Fairway the next morning (from another phone.) Despite the fact my job was small and inconsequential, Paul was INCREDIBLE. He actually HURRIED OVER to help me, He was thorough, methodical and charged me a very fair price. Besides that he is a lovely, kind and intelligent man, I felt comfortable with him in my home. I will only use Fairway from now on.
Description of Work: My alarm system, which was not functioning, nonetheless went nuts, at night of course - sirens and beeping - full tilt. I tore wires out of the wall to stop it, by the by disconnecting my phone system! I needed someone to turn the entire alarm system off and reconnect the phones, not a big ticket job.

They arrived on time and installed the fan within an hour with no problems. The only downfall was that they did not make sure that the light was programmed to be dimmable. I had asked my husband to check the fan at each speed, the light, and balancing of the fan when the electrician was there. Neither one of them clicked the wall switch to be dimmable before installing. We do like our fan and the ease of the installation and will use them for the ceiling fan in our bedroom
Description of Work: We needed a ceiling fan installed ASAP in my son’ bedroom. Fairway promptly responded and accommodated my schedule the next day They were courteous and clear about their pricing and told me that at a maximum, the cost would not exceed $150 but since they were quite experienced at fan installation, they didn’t think this would be the case and probably charge $99 as advertised. Our house is old with bad electrical connections and I was worried about the fan being installed incorrectly, We had spent quite a bit of money on this fan and didn’t want any problems such as excessive noise, wobbliness, or light problems.

Yes I missed this job. (E Mail Please) I was contacted by this customers wife I assume. We talked about the install and the type of fixtures on the phone. I asked for a (E Mail Please) I was found through the Internet Angie's list site and explained there is a yellow tab to respond by as a means to follow up. I am a Owner who works in the field six to nine hours a day. The person I was talking to was very reluctant to correspond this way. That night I got home around 830pm. To do paper work and follow ups. I did not listen to my phone voice mails. Just to tired For this I Apologize. Apparently the customer did call yesterday morning just after 9am. I was in a meeting off of Beverly Glenn. A canyon area and was not able to receive the call. (This happens with Cell phones ) I did not have a missed number on my Black Berry screen. I can only assume the call went straight to voice mail. I woke this morning to the report from the Husbands on line account. When I heard the message from yesterday this morning I tried to call back the customer. The call did not go through it was blocked on their end as a unknown number message. As my phone message says (E Mail Please) I respond to it all day long. Yes Sometimes I need a follow up call by my customers. A (Small office doing a big job.) professional service. Communicated very well and was very responsive to resolving a problem that arose from the installation. Will definitely do business again.
Description of Work: Oscar, the technician arrived on time and started work. The old and noisy bath ceiling fan was removed. The new quieter ceiling fan was fitted, requiring to enlarge the drywall opening. However, during installation the technician's drill battery was accidentally dropped on the toilet tank lid, cracking and breaking it in the process. The installation was completed and the fan worked perfectly and is very quiet as promised. The technician notified the owner who promised a replacement for the damaged toilet tank lid. After finding a replacement for the lid on eBay, I was reimbursed fully by the owner. Thanks Fairway Electric.

Thank you for your support. We will always do our best. We do what the others Company's won't. We care. Our goal is a long term relationship. Someone you can count on in the future. BEWARE: HARRIS ELECTRIC using expired/suspended license since March 2012 - CA State Contractor's Board 8.27.12. Mr. Harris, you have lied may times here in your response, and only made my case stronger against you. In every one of my emails here, I asked you to provide a written estimate. You never did. In fact, you wrote me an email, which you amazingly include here, wanting to charge hundreds, or thousands, of dollars (Who knows since you never provide an accurate estimate?) more to fix what you wrongly state is a burned out motor. However, an honest and competent contractor has now fixed the initial problem, one that you also incorrectly diagnosed, for only 75 dollars. The motor is not burned out at all. It never was, and it works fine. You made several bad mistakes, and refused to admit your fault. It's that simple. You caused the power outage, which you then fixed, but I feel you should not have charged me anything. Especially since the Department of Water and Power has sent me written information that there was no 'coincidental outage' as you claimed. And I have filed no claim with them (another lie you told). I did request a claim form, at your urging, when you told me it was their fault. When I found out the truth, which is an email you curiously do not include here, I demanded you pay for your mistakes. You said I am 'blackmailing you'?! I think you have only your dishonest and greedy behavior you feel afraid of revealing, and what I did is only tell the truth here, which is what Angieslist is for. As far as trying to 'get something for nothing'? That is another outrageous lie. I got you fixing only the damage you caused. In email after email, which you strangely provide here, though not complete in your cut and pasting, it shows me doing my best to not have this progress further. I even offered to settle for giving me back only half the total charge for your damage to my home, which I find more than reasonable, since I really do not think we should have paid you a cent. Finally, the craziest lie you told in your response was that 'I was very pleased' with your work. Mr. Harris, let me assure you wholeheartedly, I am NOT pleased. At no point do I think you handled this properly. I think you are a deceptive con man willing to lie to get a few dollars. And that you think that I am pleased is maybe the most shocking part of this. If you had been a decent person, admitted your mistakes, I would have ended this long ago. Now I am committed to making sure people see your negligence, and dishonesty.
Description of Work: Estmate to fix broken hot tub cost 40 dollars - never provided estimate. Everything else was the cost of repairing damage he caused. Never provided written estimate of work to be performed, despite numerous requests. Final price was determined after he sent a previously paid deposit receipt of 625.00 instead of any written estimate. Unprofessional, unethical and amazingly dishonest.I initially contacted Mr. Harris about an estimate to repair a broken jetted tub motor. Instead of the complete written estimate he promised, he took my money, and simply referred me to a ''jacuzzi specialist'' on a piece of generic letterhead. His men came out July 30, 2012, turned the power on to the tub that I had turned off, said they couldn't repair the tub, and left. Shortly after they left, I noticed the air conditioning not working properly, and the pool had quit running. However, I still had partial power in the home. Mr. Harris when contacted said, "It's a coincidence" that this had occurred, and that I should call our power company, and said something about this being a ''power surge,'' and ''DWP is going to have to pay for this''.Mr. Harris upon his arrival at my home on 7.30.12 immediately began verbally quoting prices to get the air conditioning back on. It was over 105 degrees that day, and to say it was like an oven in my home, would be an understatement. He began by saying it would be no more than 500.00 to 1000.00 dollars. Then he quickly said it would be no more than 1500.00 dollars. Before he left, he quoted 1550.00. I asked for this in writing, which he never provided. As we had little power, food was melting, and the inside of our home was close to 100 degrees with no fans, I felt trapped in an emergency Paul Harris caused. When the Dept of Water and Power arrived the next day, they confirmed we had our main circuit, and several others completely melted. They also confirmed not one other home in our area had any power outages, or surges, as Mr. Harris suggested repeatedly. However, when DWP representatives spoke with me at length, they explained when Mr. Harris' men had left the power on to the tub, it had likely caused the circuits to melt. It also would be impossible they said, to have partial power in our home if a surge, or an outage had occurred. Again, not one of my neighbors had any problems during this entire time, according to DWP.Mr. Harris was notified of my findings with DWP and refused to refund any of our money. He then took the bizarre step of phoning my home repeatedly, including calling at 11pm, and 7am to leave long messages denying his responsibility. He claims I misunderstood. He claims he was on vacation. He claims there was a surge, or there was an outage. He sent emails denying any responsibility. He even at one point said this was my fault. Finally, in an amazing stunt, he left me a message notifying me that he was arriving, unasked, without my permission, at my home with a DWP representative for an ''inspection'' to prove his innocence to me! Not knowing who he had arranged, or what, in my name, I wrote him to cancel whatever he had arranged, and also to stop calling me immediately. This was an awful experience I hope to be able to warn others about. This contractor's mistakes, and shameful behavior demanding ever-increasing sums of money after he took away our air conditioning during high heat warnings were somthing I would not wish on anyone.

This person is trying to get something for nothing. As per public records and my conversation with DWP now this person is also trying to claim damage with them. (We went to his property to look at a jacuzzi tub the contractor before us damaged. It ran without water long enough to burn up the motor. When we opened a wooden access panel on the exterior of the house we found the air switch was removed already and the tub disconnected. It was apparent that someone else was working on this prior to us arriving. I told the customer its not what we do, tubs are a specialty repair. he said please look at it anyway. I replied I will look at the G.F.C. I. outlet and make sure there is power. Then we can go forward if possible. We reset the 20amp breaker and the GFCI outlet worked fine. Since I was in the area I only charged $40.00 Since I did not expect to do anymore than reset the breaker ( as we did and left) The customer was there working with us the entire time. We never opened his panel to expose the wires we opened the main cover and reset one breaker. We pulled as much information as possible from the pump motor. I told the customer I will look into it. I called back and was not able to find information on this older tub. The customer sent me information by e-mail, this is all I can find on line. ( This customer and I share the same first name it is a bit confusing. ( This is when I received a call that the power was out in half of there home. It was suggested that we caused a problem) I suggested they call DWP first to see if they had a power outage in the area. As I expected there was a recorded message of a problem in the area.) The Dwp trouble crew came out and reported that the main breaker was damaged and needed repair. The customer requested that I complete a repair ASAP that it was to hot and he needed to work from Home. I traveled and stayed until finished with a safe temporary repair. I could only fined a 150amp breaker to fit their panel. The panel was no longer made. A 200amp breaker needed to be ordered and installed for proper operation of the entire home. I work from 230pm-715pm for this repair the main breaker cost was $245.00 I charge $380. Labor for the emergency service. at no up charge our rate is $75.00 per hr.) We came back and completed the repair with the 200amp breaker. The next information reads from bottom to top and is dated e mail replies I have and never will never invent work ( This person is trying to use the power of Angie's list to Blackmail us. I will not be bullied when I stand on our reputation and a A rating for the reason of being up front and honest. Some of these date are not in the correct order. But as you can read the customer is Very pleased with the work just not with paying. I tried to set a appointment with DWP to meet on site the customer refused and did not want to hear from us again. So I did as requested and sent no additional estimates. Date: Fri, 3 Aug 2012 14:08:11 -0700 To: Subject: RE: Invoice from Fairway Electric Inc. My research has found a few things that need to take place when I saw the position of the motor. I found that the pump was in a precarious position wedged in the framing that supports the tube. I was able to touch the pipe between the framing and the motor. But. I need to try to loosen the fitting in order to remove the motor for replacement or repair. The existing access panel does not allow for reasonable repair Also we noticed the Air Switch contact box was missing from the assembly altogether. If I attempt to try to disconnect the pipe from the motor the way it has been assembled. I may not be able to re-tighten the fittings properly. Once the motor is repaired our replaced. I do believe I am able to complete this repair. Some framing may need to be modified. ( $150.) This phase one repair as I see it. Its at least 3- 5hrs to remove the motor. 225.-375.00. A additional access panel may need to be opened to achieve this phase of the process. You would need to bring in someone to install the panel if this turns out to be what is required. Be advised the tube would be out of service during this process. When the motor has been removed the 2nd phase will be quoted. Reinstall labor will not exceed 3hrs 225.00 plus Parts yet to be quoted does not include possible stucco and access panel repair and install. It is still unknown if the air switch itself (the button) is in working condition. Please respond with your request of the next direction of the exploratory repair. I used Fairway Electric , several years ago and was very pleased. Nothing has changed. Paul communicated with me via email and I had a good idea how much everything would be prior to their visit.. He also stopped by and took a look at the job and answered questions. Oscar came out and did the work. He was professional and answered all of my questions. A few days later I changed my mind and wanted to make a couple of changes. They were able to come back and make those changes for a minimal charge. Great job!
Description of Work: This time, I had 3 ceiling fans installed with wall switches & remotes. One in the den & a bedroom and the another fan moved to another room. This included the assembly of the fans from the box. Which I could not have done! Two smoke alarms were installed in hallways. A mini chandelier and in a bedroom and a hall light moved from downstairs to upstairs. Also, replaced the front porch , garage & side door lights.

I was in the process of doing some light renovation on my house. I wanted to get a sense of what it would take to install recessed lighting in all of my rooms and upgrade a number of outlets. I called Paul at Fairway Electric. Paul was great. We discussed my ideas and he quickly dispatched someone to my house to work up an estimate. When the estimate came it clearly detailed all the work that we had discussed. Ultimately I decided to hold on the work as I was way over on my regular renovation budget. I am sure I will call Paul in a year to get the work done that he quoted for me. Paul was very professional during every interaction and was a pleasure to speak with.
Description of Work: Fairway Electric provided a detailed quote to completely renovate my electrical system.
