Paul was great to deal with over the phone. Tommy came out the 5 days earlier to give an estimate. Tommy, Oscar and Jaime arrived on time (first thing in the morning) ready to start work. They verified with us all the work required before starting. Then got straight to work and were finished by end of day. They were a pleasure to deal with and kept us informed throughout the entire process. We would not hesitate to use them again...Thanks Fairway!

I left a message for Paul, who replied that evening and asked me to email him a description of the work, a diagram of the install location and a photo of the electrical panel. He called me a few days later and provided me with a recommendation on how to proceed and an estimate. Once approved. he proceeded to pull the permit and do the installation, following the guidelines of the LADWP department. After the Building and Safety inspection (passed) and the LAWDP inspection (it took 3 weeks to happen, as there is a serious backlog on all EV permits at LADWP), the power was turned on. Paul, Jaime and the rest of the team at Fairway did a very clean and professional job. Upon determining that his team had spend less time than anticipated on the job. Paul gave me a discount on the original quote. Overall, I was very pleased with Fairway's service. While on occasion, it took them a bit of time to get back to me (its best to communicate with them via email or SMS), they did a great job.
Description of Work: Fairway Electric installed my Electric Vehicle charger. At the main power panel, they installed a breaker and a Time of Use (TOU) meter socket in order to allow me to comply with LADWP requirements for a $2000 refund. They also installed the actual EV charger (which I bought separately) in my garage.

When one of my old Pushmatic circuit breakers got stuck "Off" I called Paul and didn't regret it. He had me email him pictures of the circuit panel and we spoke on the phone about what he suspected was going on. Since those replacement breakers can be pricey, he even told me where to buy one so I could just pay for his labor. The next day, two guys came out and installed the new breakers and were patient and helpful answering all of my questions. I'd use them again for sure!
Description of Work: Installed a new Pushmatic circuit breaker.

The crew, Oscar and Jaime, were polite, provessional, answered all questions, and responded to requests. They will be called again to take care of the open circuit at a later time.
Description of Work: Paul, the owner sent two of his men to repair the mounting of two outlets and check on the loss or power at one. They called ahead and arrived on schedule. The two outlets were fastened in place in 15 minutes, and the loss of power was determined to be caused by an open circuit elsewhere in the house. That repair was postponed until access could be provided.

Response from Fairway Electric
Well the best way to respond to this is let the truth speak for itself. I am posting the E-Mail correspondence I had with the customer. I was at his home. A wonderful 7 figure property overlooking the Valley at 5pm Saturday night. I was being asked to replace fixtures that were designed for this wonderful home with large cosmetic LED motion sensors. I suggested 2 In-wall timers in order to keep the existing fixtures in place. A less expensive job then I was being asked to complete. The customer was very pleased with this suggestion. On Sunday morning I forwarded the model number of the product and where to get it. I did not hear back from the client so I reached out. I was told he did not have time to exchange the product and the job would be put off until the 17TH. I offered to pick up the material. Then on Monday I received a communication of where are we. Based on the customer reply. I wasn't supposed to be back on site until the 17TH by the request. (This is all I have to say about this :0) I offered to be there on Tuesday. This read from Bottom to Top Dear Paul: We waited for you today and will not be available for tomorrow. At this point, there is no need to pursue this small project. I will let you know if we want to do so in the latter day. Thanks. I called Fairway Electric and Paul was at the house the following day trouble shooting the issue. Paul was great. He was on time, very professional, responsive and knowledgagle. I appreciated his candor and honesty (he didn't try to sell me on a bunch of work that didn't need to be performed). Working with Paul and Fairway Electric was a pleasure.

Great work, showed up on time, got the job done and charged a fair price.

This was the second time that Fairway Electric has provided me with services, and both times I have been extremely satisfied. What stands out the most to me is the professional demeanor of the company and its representatives. They are prompt, courteous, fair and competitive in pricing, and remarkably efficient at multi-tasking and brining the job in on budget.
Description of Work: Fairway Electric installed 2 chandeliers in my house, as well as outside security and landscape lighting. The chandeliers were HUGE and did not fit through the regular doors, so it was necessary to dismantle my patio doors to gain entrance. This was done quickly and efficiently. Both representatives provided me with explicit details on recommended work and all related costs.

Paul came out to troubleshoot and found that there was no current issue with the power, and that both appliances just needed to be reset. He was very thorough in checking the main breaker box as well as the wiring going into the shed, and the original installation of the electric dryer plug. Since he found the problem quickly, and it turned out to be minor, he also installed my new combo smoke/CO detector alarms for free (the house is a rental, and I needed to comply with new state CO detector law).

Paul responded to my request to look at my project almost immediately and came to my property the next day. He looked at the job and provided me with possible solutions that would be both aesthetic and economical. He was able to give a rough estimate within 20 mins of inspecting the situation. I felt that he had good moral character and was very open and honest with his dealings. He also is transparent with his costs and markups, unlike some other people I've dealt with. I was comfortable enough to tell him about the bad situation I was in with my contractor. Basically, I hired a contractor off of Angie's list and I was having many issues with him, including dishonesty and and a few violations of Contractor State Licensing Board's rules. I asked Paul for advice. I didn't realize that there were rules the contractor had to follow, until Paul pointed me to the CSLB. He was truly concerned for me and was very generous with his time. He called to make sure I was okay and provided much needed guidance in a time of desperation. Though I haven't hired an electrician yet, and Paul hasn't performed the job yet, I can say with great confidence that he is a Stand Up guy who went above and beyond his call of duty to help out a fellow human being in a time of need. I'd like to thank him and share this story with Angie's List patrons for that is hard to come by these days. Incase you're curious, this experience has helped empower me by equipping me with the knowledge I needed in order to protect my self from Contractors that take advantage of inexperienced clients. Furthermore, Paul has given me hope that there are good people out there! Thank you, Paul!

We're doing a kitchen updating. Everything is packed up, the cabinets are going to be redone, all the appliances have been pulled, total updating. The newer, high tech oven requires 220 electrical, so we were concerned that getting 220 electrical from the garage, in the front of the house, to the kitchen, at the back, would mean tearing up drywall and more mess than we already have. Tommy and his crew collaborated with my husband and came up with a great way to do it, which required only one small square of drywall to be cut out in the closet. They're also doing under cabinet lighting. When I was presented with the new LED lights, which are those bright, glaring, white lights, I didn't want them. We have spent a lot of time and money putting in soft, glowing, accent lighting and that would have stuck out and been jarring. They went the extra mile to find an amber light that would work with the color palette of our home and the other lighting, and while all the electrical tie-in is done, the final lights will be installed after the cabinets. However, we're very pleased with the solution. They also are fixing a few small items, such as a landscape light that burns out every time we turn it on. Seems like it's working, we go to bed, go to turn it on the next night, and it's burned out. Guessing it's a short, but time to get to the bottom of it. All in all, I can't say enough good about working with this company. Paul does the scheduling and sends updates via email promptly, which I like, since I'm not always home but can get email updates via smartphone, and it saves me time to know I don't need to race back if they'v been held up, but generally, they're also on time, which is great. Tommy and the crew are so nice, friendly, and likeable, as well as very good at what they do, it's just really a pleasure to work with them. If you're in the L.A. area and need an electrician, this company should be on your list to interview. I'd give them a higher rating, but A is as high as it goes. I'll just go ahead and say A+++++. Thanks again, Paul, Tommy and crew!

I wouldn't trust someone in my house who functions in this way. More troublesome still, is by the conversation we had about his actions, he doesn't see he's done something wrong.
Description of Work: I called Paul Harris from Fairway to come out and give us a quote for a rewire of our home with a relocation of our electrical panel. He said he would come out at 7:15 on a Saturday morning which was fine. A gentleman arrived who said his name was Tommy which surprised me because I was expecting to meet the owner, Paul. At the end of his assessment Tommy presented his price and what shocked me was the price for the panel relocation. It was more than the other three contractors we had to give prices. When I told him that I was surprised that it was high ($2750 to $2950) he said that I could speak to his boss Paul about it. I spoke to Paul and told him the preferred contractor up to that point (Doran of D and D Electrics) was going to charge $1950, if he wanted to, he (Paul Harris) could come out himself to take a look at the placement the panel and see if his estimator had indeed overpriced it or he wanted to stand by that price. Unbeknownst to me, he telephoned Doran of D & D Electrics (saying he was calling on my behalf!!!) and quizzed him on his pricing of the panel, what was included etc. When I found out about this, I called Paul Harris and told him that I was appalled that he called another contractor masquerading as a friend of mine trying to find out more about the other contractor's bid. What he did was unethical. I wont have someone who does business like that in my home. He could have spoken to me for more information (he said he called and couldn't reach me which was a lame excuse) or made the effort to do the work and take a look at the job a second time himself.

Response from Fairway Electric
We were on track to complete this work. The customer wanted a better price on the service change portion of the project. So THEY SENT ME another outstanding Angie's list contractors bid. Since the customer sent me the estimate they already showed me the pricing, But the description of work was incomplete. The bid was incomplete in the description of work to be completed. So I called on behalf of the property address and ask two questions. "are you removing the sub-panel and also are you removing the Old Main Panel. I said thank you for your time. " The customer will call. If she chooses you. I just wanted to make sure we were bidding APPLES to Apples. It turned out we were. Not all bibs are the same . That's why they are ESTIMATES. WE WILL ALWAYS PROVIDE QUALITY WORK AND PERFORMANCE ON THE JOB.

My four-plus-year experience with Fairway Electric has been terrific. Paul, the owner, is very responsive to calls and does his best to send one of his men out as soon as possible (the same or next day). What I most appreciate about Paul is that if the problem can be solved by telling you what to do over the phone (e.g., "Try resettling the circuit-breaker and see if that solves the problem"), he's happy to offer guidance instead of charging for a service call. When Tommy (the electrician who we've always dealt with) comes, he is always friendly and competent and willing to take care of small jobs (like readjusting the settings on motion-sensor lights) so that all the little "nuisance" jobs are taken care of. And their fees are reasonable! Needless to say, I highly recommend Fairway Electric and continue to be a loyal customer.

I recently used Paul Harris at Fairway Electric and can recommend him and his crew wholeheartedly. I saw that they had close to 90% "A" rating on Angie's List, which is why I went with them. The owner, Paul, is very polite and knowledgeable, he came exactly when he said he would and they fixed two things which took time, but charged a reasonable rate (if you're curious what their troubleshooting rate is, $80/hour). They even fixed something that the guys who put in my heating/air conditioning unit had messed up. VERY CONSCIENTIOUS. Paul would not let his workers assume anything, he made sure they checked every single thing and that the thing they came to fix worked properly before they left. They saved me a lot of money as I got a much higher quote, with the wrong diagnosis of the problem, from a different Angie's List electrician last year. I am so glad I didn't go with them!! It may take time to make an appointment, as Paul is often in the field, but I am VERY pleased with them and will be using them as my primary electrician.

It was hard to find an electrician who worked on weekends, but Fairway Electric was open. Paul (the owner) at Fairway Electric was responsive, professional, and helpful. After I described the problem to him, he recommended that I contact the electric company, as they could probably fix the issue for free. I don't know a lot about electrical systems, and he could have sent someone out and charged me for it, but instead he gave me great advice that led to the problem getting fixed for free. Paul even sent a follow up email later to see if we needed anything. We'll definitely call Fairway Electric for future electrical needs.

I needed someone to rewire an outlet correctly as we found that the previous owners had hard wired an extension cord into an electrical outlet. I was told on the phone that was something this company could help with, but needed to get some pictures to get an overall idea of what they were looking at as far as job wise. I sent two pictures to the email provided and never heard back from the guy. I understand it was around the holidays and people are off work, however, if you are going to tell someone you will call them back, have some respect, and follow through!
Description of Work: I had an outlet that was wired incorrectly. Called and talked to Paul on the phone. He told me to send him a picture to his email and he would get back to me in a few minutes to let me know what they could do. I waited for almost an hour and then called back twice, left a message, and emailed as his voicemail said that is the easiest way to get a reply. I heard nothing back at all and we are going on four days. Not Professional at all!

Sometime last spring Edison wanted to install a new digital meter on our panel. Because of low voltage issues this never happened. Throughout the summer, Edison attempted to install the new meter a few more times but couldn't for the same reason. The first Edison employee said the problem was at the transformer. The next one to come out said the problem was within the house. There was a back and forth as to where the problem was originating. In the meantime, we were living off partial power within the house. We had to gut two deteriorating bathrooms, which left a lot of exposed wiring. We definitely had problems, but didn't believe our house was causing the low voltage problem. On Monday, an Edison employee climbed the power pole, found a loose wire, repaired it and said all low voltage problems were solved. He was great! He tested the main panel and said everything looked fine. That was such a relief to hear that! Fairway Electric came in on Wednesday and did all the interior repairs in a professional, workmanlike manner. While we still have some additional construction work to be done, we are clean, safe, and relieved that Fairway Electric helped solve our most serious problems. Pricing was very reasonable. While I could have found someone cheaper, I believe you get what you pay for. I paid for and got a top-notch company to handle my electrical needs.
Description of Work: Fairway Electric did a number of jobs including: *performed a diagnostic check on our sub panel *cleaned up loose and exposed wiring in two gutted bathrooms *tidied up additional wiring in the laundry area *repaired a few light switches and receptacles *installed two new lights in the kitchen *got our house 100% electrically sound *left a customer feeling totally satisfied

I was a real pleasure to do business with Fairway Electrical. I feel that at last, I've found our "family electrician". I will use him for every electrical need in the future, and have already raved to my friends about the great service Fairway provided. I was in a big hurry to repair the outdoor lights in time for a big outdoor party. I contacted a couple of companies, and was very happy that Paul agreed to do the job for me. He sent Tommy, who was very thorough, and checked and fixed everything that needed fixing! I needed a specific fixture, which Tommy shopped for and worked to adapt so it was just right. He also bought me a supply of low voltage light bulbs to have on hand for my various fixtures, checked my wiring and the grounding. He was very pleasant to deal with, explained everything to me, and he completed the job quickly and with a smile. All at a super fair price. For me, it gave new meaning to the name "Fair-way". Even though they knew that I urgently needed the work done in just a few days, they didn't charge me extra for coming to the rescue. Thank you Paul for responding to my emergency. And thank you for sending Tommy. He's great! You will hear from me again!
Description of Work: Fixed my old landscape lighting, bought and installed a new fixture I needed, checked wiring and grounding, changed all hard-to-reach light bulbs, purchased for me a supply of low voltage light bulbs and installed some of them, as needed. The price I paid included all the light bulbs and the fixture.

Great guy! Great company...
Description of Work: I will definitely be calling Paul again to do some work with my house. He was kind enough to stay on the phone with me, and save me $85 in a house call! He graciously and sympathetically went through the situation with my breaker panel in my house, and helped me tremendously! Thanks Paul!!

I was about to leave town for a few days when the pool motor burned out, and I contacted Paul to come and inspect the wiring at short notice. Meanwhile, the pool man was confident that there was no need for this, and arrived unexpectedly to put in the pump. I had a plane to catch, and couldn't be here to coordinate the work. Paul came, checked the wiring and advised the other guy that it was fine to proceed. He left voice mail for me letting me know the outcome, and he didn't charge me for any of this. Paul offered to provide an estimate for the sump pump repair/replacement, but there was no pressure.
Description of Work: The motor on my pool filter burned out, and I suspected that it was caused by an electrical problem because I discovered the sump pump had also stopped working. Paul inspected the electrics and determined that it was safe for my pool man to put in a new motor.

I called Paul on a Tuesday afternoon and he had his guys out to my house the very next day at noon. Tommy gave me an estimate of the work I needed to have done and when he asked me when I'd like the work started, I replied, "Now". He called for an additional electrican and the two of them did everything within a few hours. Extremely pleased with every aspect of the job and I will use Fairway Electric going forward. I
