We have had Fairway Electric come out ~6 years ago to do a fair bit of electrical work and install in-wall speaker wire for our surround sound in the living room and had a great experience, so we called again to get a quote when we found out we had recessed lights that weren't insulation-rated but had insulation laid right on top. We also wanted to get additional electrical lines run from our ceiling fans to allow the fan and light to be controlled by separate switches. Jaime came out promptly (the next day?) for a quote and we were able to schedule the work for the next week. Jaime was great at working with us to determine some things that we could do ourselves to keep the cost down (remove the existing fans so they were ready to go, then reinstall the fans ourselves, purchase the new switches ourselves). This saved us $$$ and was much appreciated. Instead of just taking the "easy money" I felt like they were really trying to help us keep to our budget. They weren't the cheapest quote we got for the recessed lights, but as with a lot of things, you get what you pay for. Our great experience in the past and the great reviews on Angie's List told us we wouldn't regret paying for their expertise and professionalism. Tommy (who also worked our previous job > 6 years ago) and Carlos got here right on time, we walked around the house looking at everything that needed to be done and they got to work. They used drop cloths to prevent any mess (I'm not sure I could have even told they were here if I didn't know better) and worked hard and efficiently. We wanted to get a fan brace installed in a bedroom and they inspected the existing electrical box and concluded that we didn't need to because it was already supported sufficiently to install a fan. I really appreciate that they just didn't do all of the work regardless of whether it needed to be done, they really looked at things and made decisions about it. Unfortunately, once I went to install the fan, the orientation of the screws in the box wasn't appropriate for the bracket of the fan that we purchased. I contacted Paul, the owner, to have them come back out and install the fan brace, but instead he spent 15 minutes on the phone with me walking me in detail through a way to adapt the existing box for the fan brace for minimal cost ($4 at Home Depot) and without having to make a hole in the ceiling to install the brace. With his great instructions, I was able to install the adapter and the fan in the new room without any problem and ended up saving a fair bit of money and lots of patch/paint time. We will definitely be calling Fairway again next time we need additional work done. It's nice that they have real employees (not random subcontractors) that are courteous, do great work, and are obviously happy with their job to stay for >6 years!
Description of Work: Replaced recessed lights with IC-rated cans and LED lights, installed three new electrical lines for fan control, gave expert advice on fan installation.

st Paul was great. Responsive, punctual, professional and overall great to work with. The remodel had some scheduling stops and starts but Paul was willing to work w the schedule and help keep the project moving forward. His team is great - super polite and responsive. In truth I never actually met Paul, just his crew, but kept in regular contact with him via phone or email to discuss various aspects of the work and this system worked out fine. I'd use him again.

On the price, because there was no way for Fairway to offer me a refund on the deal I purchased, they decided, instead, to give me a 50% discount on future services which I think is very fair considering. The inspection and solution to the problems were quickly and professionally diagnosed and I was informed exactly what I needed to do to get the problem resolved with the electric company. The technician offered to talk to the Edison person when I placed the call, if that was necessary. He told me exactly how to explain the problem to them, which was exceedingly helpful. Edison is scheduled to be here today to resolve the issue. While the technician was here, I had him replace a light switch I was having some difficulty with and to replace some bulbs in a very high ceiling fixture. He was more than happy to do it and explained to me exactly what was wrong with the old fixture, giving me a couple of options on the replacement. I really liked having all this explained to me in a way I could easily understand. The repair itself was handled quickly, professionally and it solved the problems with the switch beautifully. I will definitely use Fairway again for any electrical work that needs doing. I'm very pleased with their work.
Description of Work: First of all, I purchased a "deal" from Angie's List. The fee included a service call and then an allowance toward any repair. As it happened, I didn't need all the work I thought I did because the electric company was responsible for the problem. I did have Fairway replace a light switch and some other small, brief services. The only reason I rated costs as a "B" were because I paid more by buying the deal than I needed to. See below in the "How'd it go?" section, about Fairway's generous offer because of this.

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a vendor. Go anywhere else. we certainly will be. To elaborate I called them for multiple reasons but our big one was getting an entry keypad system on a new gate. They told me they could come by one day so I waited. They showed up a little late but not terrible but it turned out just for an estimate and not to do any work. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and scheduled the work. I stayed home a second day to get the work done and it was awful. I was told I would need 2 men for five hours to do the work and they would be there in the morning. Instead no one showed at all until I called the owner. He said someone would be there in less than a hour. 90 minutes later I called again and someone finally came. Except it was one person not two. I asked if he could get the work done and he said he didn't have the time. So they showed up late and short staffed and then couldn't even do the work. I asked to speak to the owner since he was on the phone talking to the electrician about all this. The owner refused. I texted the owner about this mess up and told him he lost my business and if he was a man he would have spoken to me. That got to him to call me at least. On that call he cursed me out and then texted me 'must be special to be you.' With the hundreds of other electricians around you really owe it to yourself to look elsewhere.
Description of Work: They have done various work for us over the years, ranging from buzzing lights to outlets not working. This time they were called to install a keypad system on a gate and to fix two lights and install an outlet in the garage.

This review is an addendum to my review for January 7th. While the technician who was scheduled to come out on January 7th never showed, early on the morning of January 13th, Paul sent his lead electrician, Tommy, out to repair my shower light. Tommy was very nice, efficient and thorough. He arrived on time, was able to pinpoint the electrical issue after going through many diagnostic tests, and repaired the shower light fixture and we now have light in the shower again! After my first experience with Fairway, I was not going to give them a second chance, but Paul Harris' communication and handling of the initial issue was superb. He made every effort to assure me that they would be able to assist me, in a timely manner, that they would be able to effectively repair my electrical issue. I'm very glad that I gave them a second chance, and was very pleased with the work they did. Another recessed light in the house now has an issue; so it looks like I will be giving them more business soon.

Paul Harris was scheduled to come fix an electrical issue at my house on 1/7/16 between 8:30-11am. When he had not arrived by noon, I reached out to find out what had happened. I was informed that he was not the one who would do the repairs, but that a technician was supposed to come, and Paul Harris was unaware that the technician hadn't come. So, after waiting all morning for someone who never came, we will find another electrician to do our repair. Since I took the entire morning off of work to stay at home and wait, it's unfortunate that Fairway Electric wasn't more reliable, or at least more respectful of their clients' time/ schedule, since no one communicated with me about the change of schedule/ availability until I reached out to them.

When I met the customer on the phone he discussed a chandelier for his main entry proximally 22 feet up in the air said the fixture was not that large we got to the job site the fixture was over hundred pounds I needed to bring additional men and ladders I asked him please look you from the street to see where you might want the fixture hung up because it's critical to visual install Anyway when we got the job we hung the fixture the customer didn't like the position of the fixture based on his first request and we rehung the fixture for no additional charge and then about three days later I received a request to come back and Rehang the fixture 2 feet lower unfortunately I was exceptionally busy and I wasn't able to get out there the next day I gave the price to the customer and he wanted a lower lower lower because he Already had paid once yet it was still the same job I had to go out there and remove the fixture from the ceiling with three men tall ladders readjust the chain and rewire the feed and rehang the fixture and he wanted a break because he made a mistake the first two times it's funny how this turned into me doing a bad job

I called on Sunday because tenant had no power in his kitchen. Paul responded right away and scheduled me for Monday. There was a delay in the original scheduled time due to another job he had, but one of his men was able to get to me early afternoon. Paul had promised to call me when he was on the way so that I wouldn't have to keep him waiting (or vise versa), but somehow this didn't happen and I got a call from the technician that he was already at my place. Luckily I don't live very far from the property and the technician assured me that he would wait, so it all turned out ok. Both Paul and the technician were very easy to work with, very friendly and professional. He found the problem within a couple of minutes of entering the apartment, which was due to the GFI in the bathroom, which somehow had been tripped, which caused the kitchen to go out. The tenant said he didn't know that the bathroom outlet had been tripped, which would have saved me a service call. Unfortunately, since this had never happened before, I didn't know to check that before I called for service, so we had to pay for a full hour service just to reset the breaker, which is no one's fault really. I am happy with the service and will use Fairway Electric again.

This type of EXCELLENT service doesn't happen very often and it has never happened to me until today. We had a power surge and it fried a lot of our appliances. I called 3 different electricians to come out, but they didn't have time and couldn't come out for over a week. I then tried Paul at Fairview and he didn't have time to come out, but he instead said it would be easy to help me over the phone. I walked around the house while he was on the phone and he told me what to look for. Within 10 minutes we narrowed it down to one power outlet that got burnt out in the power surge. Paul told me it was easy to replace myself, but if I had any problems I could call him and he would walk me through that as well. After I went out and bought the outlet I called Paul and sure enough he guided me step by step over the phone and now I do not have any electrical issues. He saved us a lot of money and time without our appliances. In this day in age where your average repair person wants to just make a buck off of you or worse rip you off, Paul was the exact opposite. I honestly have not experienced that level of service EVER. Thank you!

It went great! I don't know any electricians, so I used the Snapfix function in Angieslist app where you take a photo of what you need done, add a few notes and availability, and Angieslist sets you up with a provider. My first matched provider did not have availability in my timeframe, and Fairway Electric was the second provider they matched me with. I'm very happy with the service. The project was to install an electrical outlet in my bathroom by the toilet seat so that we could plug in a Japanese-style toilet. The house is a newer 1995 construction but didn't have any nearby outlets within the bathroom. There was a nearby outlet on the other side of the wall in a bedroom. Paul from Fairway Electric emailed me back right away after being matched, and we went back and forth via email about the details of the project, and questions he had about my project, access to my crawl space, location of nearby outlets, estimated cost, and timing/availability. I love emailing or texting with contractors because I'm super connected, but usually need some time to find out the answers to questions. Thumbs up! Paul scheduled Jaime to come within a few days, bright and early, and Jaime arrived at 8am Monday. We walked him through everything, he even took a look at the voltage on the toilet to make sure that what he was installing would be sufficient, and he surveyed the situation. He warned us that he might need to cut through the drywall to access the electrical if it wasn't easily accessible within the walls, gave us the price, we agreed, and he went to work. Luckily, he didn't have to punch through the walls, and by 9am our new outlet was installed, everything was cleaned up, and it looked like it was there all along. Jaime seemed very knowledgeable and personal, and we would definitely be happy to have him in our home again to do any electrical work. Thank you!!!!

Installer was 2 1/2 hours late because he was not notified by the owner, Paul of the appointment set up 10 days prior. The appointment was confirmed by email. I had to drive 45 miles in morning rush-hour traffic to meet the installer who was supposed to be at the location by 7:30 AM, but did not show up until after 10:00 AM. The work took 2 3/4 hours and the owner wanted to charge for almost 4 hours, based on the stated hourly rate of $85.00 per hour.

Yes , I had a technician call out and needed to scramble a bit. But the job was completed. By the report it was not a poor install . Just a bit late and poor communication. It went really well. Fairway was incredibly responsive to our needs, both in setting up the appointment and keeping communication flowing. We had two things to address: Outlets that were not functioning, and a backyard project that will need electricity. So we bought Fairway's Angie's List Deal of $170 for Service Call and 2 Hours of Electrical Labor. We purchased the Deal on Saturday, and requested an appointment for Monday. Paul of Fairway was fully booked for Monday, but did pretty much everything he could to work around our complicated schedules (including possibly coming over almost instantly) and we set up for Wednesday. Paul sent Hymie who inspected our sockets, determined the issue, and replaced the non-functioning outlets. Then he provided an estimate for work to be done at a later date. The whole job cost $210, due to the parts (which were not covered in the Deal). The work was done in less than an hour. So we really didn't have a good use of the Deal, overpaying for the time. We could have been smarter about getting the most out of the Deal, but Fairway did exactly what we needed and they could not have been more accommodating to our schedule.

Over all they were a good company to work with. There were a few hiccups in communication at the beginning but by the end everything was resolved. The work they did was good. They were clean and professional.
Description of Work: Fixed bad wiring, created new outlets, moved chandelier.

They did a good job the guy they sent out was polite and very professional. He changed out a few outlets for us that were not functioning properly. He didn't take as long as we thought he would and at the end of his job the the outlets were working fine.
Description of Work: They replaced a few electrical outlets for us

It went great. Our house is quiet, and the Gas Company came and confirmed that our furnace is operating properly.
Description of Work: We were having an issue with our Carbon Monoxide / Smoke Alarms screaming at us, and we were not able to turn them off. Although I had never met Paul, he took the time to walk me through the process of resetting them, saving us $$ and saving him from making a (unnecessary) service call on a Sunday afternoon. We will call him the next time we need an electrician.

I was mistaken about a outdoor front porch light reeding replacement. I bought the new light, which was NOT as nice as the old oe, but the best size replacement I could find. As it turned out, there was nothing wrong with the light or wiring, just possibly a mistake I made last time I tried to use it. It has worked fine ever since. I will use their service again if I ever need an electrician.
Description of Work: When I pointed out the problem with the front porch light needing replacement because it had been out of service for a long time, or so I thought, the electrician fiddled with the switch and the light went right on. There was nothing to replace or repair, so he left without charging me .
