The contractor did not come to the house even though a date and time was set up. It should also be noted that I received no response to set up an appointment after I purchased the deal. I had to call days after the purchase to reaffirm their receipt of the purchase and try to set up an appointment for them to come out. As it turned out nobody came on the set appointment date. Worst, I received no call to reset the appointment or to offer a refund because they decided not to follow through on the deal. I had the light fixed by someone else the next day and then sent an email to Paul S. Harris at Fairway Electric requesting a refund of the $90. I have yet to receive the refund four days ago, or even a response email or call. I hope that I do receive a refund and hope that Angie's List will help me obtain this refund because I cannot get any resonses from Fairway Electric either after the purchase or after the no-show on the agreed-upon work date.

Paul was superb. He will be my PERMANENT electrician from this point. He is one of the nicest guys I have ever met and super willing to share his knowledge even over the phone before coming over and earning a penny. I cannot recommend this company highly enough!

The A/C went out at my house about a week and half ago during a horrible heatwave. We called our A/C company which had recently installed a new furnace and they came out and after narrowing down the cause of the until not working informed us that an animal had chewed through the wire. They wouldn't make it clear how we would fix this issue and didn't seem to want to take care of it. They said we could put in a new line or call an electrician. I called one from Angie's List that was well reviewed and they quoted me 950-1300 to fix it but they'd need to know right away whether we wanted the work done. I was desperate for cold air but figured I'd try to call at least one more electrician to compare estimates. I phoned the next well reviewed number on the list, Fairway Electric. It was a Friday evening. Paul answered the phone and patiently listened while I explained what was going on. I told him that possibly a racoon had eaten through the line and might still be under the house. Immediately he said, "I doubt I'd have to replace the whole line. I can do a bridge...." I don't recall the rest of the description because a) I was dripping with sweat and b) I don't understand electrical stuff which is why I was calling an electrician. He quoted me $350-500 for the job and said he couldn't do it until the following Wednesday. I almost started sobbing. I said, "I'll never make it to Wednesday! I have 3 kids and we're dying of heat. Is there any way you can come sooner?" So he joked, "Let me ask the boss. Okay, I'll come in the morning." I wanted to hug him. The next day, Paul showed up even earlier than expected. He took one look at the A/C unit and electrical box and said, "You don't have a problem with the main electrical line. This is a small problem. Your A/C company should have taken care of this for you when they were here." Then he asked if we could get them on the phone. I reached out the company and the two men started talking. Paul explained what our problem was and took them to task on why they hadn't performed the work when they were here. Long story short, he was going way out of his way to help us out. He kept his cool, was actually gracious with our A/C company so that we didn't burn any bridges and got them to agree to come out for free and re-hook up the system once Paul made the repair. Paul then drove 20 minutes away to buy the electrical wire he needed and even offered to buy us a trap for the possible racoon while he was there. Once he returned, he crawled under the house and did the work which was slightly more complicated than he originally thought so it took a bit longer. When he was done, instead of making us wait for the A/C company to return, he took a chance and just did the hook up himself. Our A/C was back in business in less than an hour. The charge? $250. WHAT??? This is a company I will call again and again and recommend to everyone I know. Thank you Paul! You are old school amazing customer service and we are grateful!
Description of Work: Replaced a low voltage electrical line and then restarted our A/C unit.

Needed to install a new outlet in order to replace my dishwasher. Oscar was very patient and worked to solve a minor problem created by a water pipe that was unfortunately placed exactly where the outlet needed to go. It took a while but he got it right. He also replaced several older outlets with GFI plugs (we saved a little $ by grabbing them at the hardware store ahead of time) and showed us how to solve a lighting problem in our kitchen using LED disc lights. Incredibly nice and professional at every step of the way. Will definitely use again.

Very poor communication. For me, they arbitrarily schedule and cancel without proper notice. I cancelled the service call. Angies List provided me a quick refund of the cost of my service coupon. The owner hung up the phone after a heated discussion about commitments and customer service. Doesn't appear to be interested in small homeowners. But this was my personal experience, Other customers I am sure have fared better. I wish them luck.

The workers were very good. I wasn't quite cool with them bringing their kids into work and teaching them on the job especially when one of the kids was trying to say like he doesn't know his own house pretty much. He was pretty young to be brought to the workplace. Paul himself was very disorganized. The work got completed in a little bit over two months. Paul would pull them out of my workplace and send them out to do other small jobs elsewhere. With Paul in charge, I would definitely not use them.

This is a positive followup to a review dated 3/15/2016 concerning a request for service initiated on 3/10/2016, where I posted an F for responsiveness -- all other categories as N/A . Once I had posted the review, I got a reply 3/16 to the email I'd sent on 3/10 from Kyle, Paul's assistant, who assumed responsibility for the communication error, with apology. Kyle offered to schedule service on Friday, 3/18/2016. I replied with a question on pricing, and time of day. The rest of the communication was via text between Paul Harris and myself. Tommy <& Carlos? I believe>, promptly arrived and installed the replacement light. It is working as expected. Tommy was very nice, and said if I needed any timing adjustment, he would come by when they had another job in the area. Also, Mr. Harris, gave me a discount card of 50% off of the second hour of Labor for a new job. And he followed with an email to me on Sunday, March 20, 2016 7:38 PM, to be sure I was happy with the installation. At that time, he offered a discount for the next job, for a time less than 2 hours. In conclusion, Mr. Harris did everything in his power to satisfy the initial oversight - thoroughly enough to consider this company for future electrical needs. Thanks, Paul, for your help !!

I called 2/29/16 and spoke to Paul the owner. He sent Tommy out on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, and then again on March 11 (with parts he had to purchase). I went over with Tommy all of the various issues in the house. He took notes and explained the pricing (and part prices) and then started troubleshooting. We've only been in the house for about 1 1/2 years, so some of the switches and what they control are a mystery. He found out why one wall in the living room wasn't working - it is controlled by a switch (duh). He showed me that there are various switches that control the power to lights in the front yard. He changed a lot of lightbulbs in and around the house and driveway. He fixed the electrical box that controls the lights for the driveway lights and outside post lights. When he came back on 3/11/16, he put in 2 new LED motion/light sensors near the garage and put a second switch in the den. All in all, both Paul and Tommy were pleasant to work with, didn't have to wait more than a couple of hours for a response and came when I needed them too. I would definitely recommend them!!

Paul sent me an email right away and said my cost should be between 250-350 max and to contact him with any questions with any bid I got. I thought that was awesome and certainly above what he needed to do. He then said yes, he did not cover my area and to get a refund, which I am in the process of doing.

When I contacted Paul on March 10, 2016, he answered the phone. This was a good start. I didn't have to leave a phone message. I explained that I wanted to re-install a motion-sensor light. The first light had gone out, so the replacement <same model> needed to be connected to the existing wires, unless I decided I wanted a 'dusk to dawn' setting option, which would require the installation of a switch. I explained this light is higher on my garage roof than 12 feet. He shared typically the motion lights are not installed much higher than 12 ft. He also asked if the light was weatherproof. He suggested I send him a photo of its location, and I also sent instructions on how the sensor light can be set to a 'dawn to dusk' setting. I said I thought that a 'manual' reset was required every night, if I wanted this to be the ongoing setting.... meaning I'd have to have a switch installed to handle resetting to dusk/dawn. Subsequently, I've decided I'm not bothering with the switch. I confirmed that my interpretation of the instructions was correct with a consumer products rep @ Cooper Lighting. I sent the photos the same afternoon. Much later in the afternoon, I phoned him to be sure he had received the email. He replied that he had received. He would review the email that night, and get back to me in the morning. He had explained during the initial call that he had technicians working in Van Nuys, and might even be able to make it the same day. I had shared with him my concern that his business was too far away, and not a practical choice of provider. He definitely showed an interest in taking the phone time to get all the info., so I'm really surprised I didn't hear back from him. I have decided that either he totally forget about our interaction < including the email> or decided the job wasn't worth his time. It would have been nice if he had just replied to my 3/10 email to say that was the case. Now, I'm leaning towards finding a good handyman. It would have been nice if he had just priced the job, so I could have compared it to another bid. Maybe his business has grown to the point where he needs an assistant to be sure interactions aren't overlooked? Oh well.................
Description of Work: The provider, Paul Harris, never did a reply to my email ( which included several photos, and the ALL-PRO LED motion sensor light operating instructions), or call me back.

So my impression is that this company usually delivers, but I'm afraid my experience was less than ideal. Ultimately, I paid nearly $300 total for 2 visits from Paul's electricians but my issue was never resolved. They did spend time cleaning up the wires behind a few outlets and attempted to figure out the electrical mystery I called about, but the initial problem still exists which is disappointing. When I was able to make contact with Paul or his office, they were very polite but there were also a few "no show" appointments which added to my frustration. So I'm not sure what to say other than I think they tried, but weren't able to get the job done? Lastly, after the first electrician tried to fix the problem and didn't, I half expected him to send another person out free of charge but ended up paying even more than the initial visit. I understand that they get paid hourly for providing service, but not fixing the problem and charging for it left me feeling cheated (even if that wasn't their intent). I'm currently in graduate school, so $300 is a large expense for no results. Just being honest folks, hope they can solve your issue if you try them!

If you would be more specific about what the problem is, I would be happy to come and address it at no additional labor charges. If its within the original scope of work. I do have the following listed for you, After we arranged a time we came out and gave you a free estimate of work, you agreed to the charges, and we completed that task. You even sent a text on 1/5/16 that states, " Hi, Paul, Jaime was great, thanks for sending him!" When we went out to the job there was a problem with several outlets and lights not working properly. We traced it found a loose wire on the outlet by the front entry, tightened it, checked all voltage, everything was working properly and that's why we received the thank you above. To my knowledge this job was completed. And a month later on 2/4/16 we received a text that said, "Hi Paul, it's [Customer]. I haven't heard back from you and i really need to get the outlet/circuit fixed properly. Can we please schedule someone to take another look at it soon?" This is the first time that i have heard that the circuit is giving you additional problems if it is the same circuit that was giving you problems initially.Based on the communication we have below, we had this as a completed job. With some additional cosmetic work pending. (Not Troubleshooting) Fairway Electric inc by Paul Harris To Customer Jan 6 at 5:30 PM Hello Customer, Have your electrical needs been completed Did we clean up properly Was the work completed to your standards Did we respect you and your home Paul S. There are some other projects I’d like to discuss and was wondering if I may be able to get a flat rate quote from you? The work would include installing: 7 single-pole dimmers 1 split dimmer 2 bathroom light fixtures 1 balcony light I’d plan on purchasing the dimmers and light fixtures myself. Many thanks! Customer The additional scope of work does not list any problems with the outlet/circuit. After that it just seemed to be a problem with scheduling "We understand everybody needs to work during the day, our normal business hours are from 7-3:30. Fariway Electric is the best, and I have nothing but glowing things to say about them. The owner is Paul Harris, and the electricians he employs are excellent at what they do as well as cheerful and polite. They took care of various small, medium, and big jobs over the years at our previous home in Tarzana. All the work was done on time and at the estimated cost. Now we are using them at our new home in Studio City. We have had them come out for several jobs, and the quality of their work and employees is still A+. I choose to email with my requests, and Paul is quick to respond and send his team out to get the job done. I have also called and left word, and Paul is quick to get back to me. If you want quality work at a fair price, call paul at Fairway Electric. I cannot recommend them highly enough
