The owner came to my home on 04/22 (approx.) to evaluate work required prior to sending someone out.  I showed him all three items required:  replace batteries in all smoke detectors, replace the batteries in the breakfast room skylight power shades, patch and paint three drywall holes approx. 4"x6" each caused by electrician installing new wall switch.  He said this would not be a problem, as long as I supplied him with the batteries needed.
Metro Builders send out their handyman Luciano two days later.  He arrived without any tools or supplies.  I had to supply him with a ladder so he could replace all the smoke detector batteries.  He did not have any of the supplies needed to perform the patch/paint job.  The batteries provided by me for the power shades turned out not to fit.  I emailed Metro Builders (MB) and told them that the power shade batteries had to be special ordered, but would it be OK if I called him back when they arrived to complete the job.  I also reminded him that drywall patch still needed to be done.  MB responded that the coupon was for one visit only, but OK, call him when the battery pack arrived and he would "take care of it".
The batteries arrived a week later, and MB sent a different handyman out to complete the job, but the batteries were still not the right ones!   Plus, the handyman was not told about any drywall by MB so did not come prepared to complete that job.  He phoned MB and told them the job status.  I emailed MB and told them I felt awful about the skylight fiasco and offered to complete the job myself.  I then received an email from MB telling me that he had already lost a lot of money on this job, that Angie's list had put his coupon in the "handyman" category by mistake and this was causing him a lot of problems, but he would complete the job, and if I wanted to pay some additional money, that would be appreciated (he didn't specify an amount).  He told me (as he had on his initial visit) that the drywall job would be a two day procedure as the patch material and primer had to dry at least 6-7 hours before it could be painted, and that he would complete the job as promised.
Two weeks later, MB sent me an email telling me it would be an additional $350 to complete the job!  I told him no, he had previously left it up to my discretion if I wanted to pay additional money.  We emailed back and forth and I basically had to threaten him with a bad rating on Angie's List to get him to agree to come out and complete the work.  I agreed to pay an additional $200 for the drywall materials and extra visits.
One week later, well over five weeks after the initial visit, MB sent a third handyman to complete the jobs.  They came with tools and materials this time, replaced the batteries in the skylight power shades and did the patch/paint on the drywall. They only painted the patches however, instead of painting the width of the wall, and after the paint dried, it was obvious where they had painted.
All in all, this was a very unpleasant and unprofessional experience, my only bad experience with an Angie's List provider to date.  MB came across as friendly and experienced and professional, and while they did exhibit patience and extended me some courtesies, all in all, it was handled poorly by them and I would not use them again.

The work was great, but the logistics of getting people to my home was a nightmare.  The contractor did what they could to get the job done, but it was a stressful experience.  I bought a "Deal of the Week" coupon from them, and it turned out that they were quite far from me geographically, which became the issue.  I guess they should've limited the area they were willing to travel to to something on their end of the world, as this was the main cause of the problems.  It all worked out in the end, and I am pleased with the job they did.

came out to give me a free estimate, friendly guy, decided to get a few other estimates. the information/samples he provided were of higher quality than the others i have seen. we were doing the work at our rental home in Thousand Oaks and that was never a problem for the representative or the workers. met with us whenever necessary, kept in constant contact about the job progress and provided updates when necessary. always willing to answer our long lists of questions and concerns & worked hard to finish the project according to the timeline we set at the beginning of the project. both the kitchen and bathroom were completely remodeled and look fantastic! our renters are more than satisfied with all the upgrades we decided to do & we believe it has increased the value of the property. will be keeping them handy when we do work on our own home & refer to our family & friends.

They contacted us right away and scheduled an estimate. Estimator was on time, made sure we understood the deal (you are paying for labor only) and that we had reasonable work and expectations. He scheduled the actual contractor, who showed up on time, worked hard and well, and was very professional.
This was a great deal on some great service, and I would reuse and recommend.

I bought 2 coupons off angie's list for a total of 12 hours of handyman services.  We made an appointment for a guy to come discuss what we wanted to do.  The day before the appointment, they asked if they could have him come 3 hours early.  We said we couldn't do that, since we already had plans at that earlier time.  They said they would see us tomorrow.  The next day, they called and said the guy called in sick.  I'll admit I was suspicious that they just didn't intend to come.  We made another appointment, and they sent a guy, Oren, to discuss what we wanted to do.  I listed and prioritized possible projects.  He offered to complete all of them for $4100 (that included the value of the coupons).  I declined.  I already had another quote from another company to complete the biggest project (replacing a number of rotten or termite damaged weight bearing beams and eves, for $1900).  Over a couple phone conversations, Oren asked me to get in writing exactly what the other company was going to do, and he would see if he could beat their price.  I did, but decided to still go with the other company since I felt Oren was being kinda pushy.  Oren told me he thought I was making a big mistake and suddenly became unfriendly.  I ended up calling the Metro Builders office and they agreed to send a handyman to do my tasks.  I chose to have them demolish the built-ins in a wet bar that I wanted to convert to a closet, and then paint it.  The first day the workman who came did the demo just fine (6 hours).  The second day, he painted the ceiling with ceiling paint, and started to paint the walls with a different color, but ran out of paint.  It had been only 3 hours.  I was expecting that he would go to the hardware store to get more paint, but he said he had to be somewhere else by 11 am.  I said fine, and he just left, leaving the place a mess, even leaving the ceiling paint lid off the can.  I ended up finishing the painting myself.  The Metro Builders office called me to see how it went, and I explained that I hadn't had the entire 12 hours.  I said perhaps they could send someone to install a dryer vent.  They said they would, but the guy who could do it was sick.  Since I didn't trust this company anymore, I decided that I didn't want anything more to do with them and decided to let the last 3 hours go.  Of note, I eventually had all the projects that I had discussed with Oren completed for a total cost of $3640.

They called me and kept in touch with me through the whole process.  The work was done very nicely and the worker cleaned up after he was done.  Erez and his wife were friendly and helpful.

I purchased a $199.00 coupon through Angie's List for 6 hours of handy work service. I wanted the small powder room painted. When the owner, Eraz assessed the needed work he said that the dry wall damage will take more than 6 hours and that it would cost me an extra $400. I was able to get him down to $300. On the scheduled day I was told that the painter would be at my place at 12pm, he arrived at 3:45pm and left between 5:15 and 5:30pm  He had repaired the dry wall and that we needed to wait over night for it to dry.  He arrived the next day about noon and completed the work 3:30pm The painter did a very good job and left every thing clean and neat. In the interim, the owner called to instruct me to give the $300.00 check to the painter.When I questioned the fact that the work was completed in less than 6 hrs, he became argumentative and defensive because the worker had to come to my house twice which meant more cost on gas and that he provided for all the materials.  I'll admit that he as a point there but in the future I hesitate to purchase these coupons without more scrutiny and would need to be able to ask questions  Also, and this is just my observation, it appears that this may be a relatively new business because Earz's wife who runs the office and the scheduling could not get the work time right and the communication between her and the painter was way off, kind of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing

It went very well. There were extra charges since we needed more hours. They were very quick to respond, especially in a big deal situation.

Metro builders as always showed up ASAP with the guys and the big dumpster remove the all bath room and kitchen complete.
We only selected the cabinets and Granite colors, and give the guys some ideas what we need regarding the floor covering and we left for a week.
We know if the guys from Metro Builders in my house everything will be just
 perfect.
In less then 20 days the house was ready to move in with new walls, new kitchen and full
Bath room.
All beautiful and fresh paint and the smell of the new
 cabinets.

Crew was prompt, efficient and professional, all work completed to satisfaction.   Dissatisfied with cost, as builder estimated 2 1/2 to 3 days for the job, which was mostly labor, the railings and eaves replaced could not have been a major expense, and they were finished in 1 1/2 days, plus the builder said the 199.00 "special" was included in the job.

Very good experience.It was my second time using their services and they maintained the same level of professionalism .Very rear to find an home improvement company that is being so consistent with their customer service and level of work. The Metro guys are amazing.

The workers showed up on time and were competent (but not licensed, as discussed above).  The outdoor rug was rolled up so they could work on the patio, and somehow it got so badly damaged, that it must be replaced.  It was purchased just last summer and was in great condition, so I don't know what happened. 
.I have a lot of work that still needs to be done in my home, but I'm going to go with another company.  I think this company over-charges for handyman work;  promises were made for great quality and service to justify $3,500 of work, but it's more talk than action from my experience with them.  You be the judge, but remember, I furnished the paint and the cooktop was merely installation.  See my list of services performed in the other box decide for yourself if you'd be happy to spend that much money for what amounts to some interior painting and a few small shoe shelves.
In summary, if you use this company, get everything you expect to have completed, put in writing.  (That way you won't end up with unpainted baseboards in an other wise fully painted room, as an example) .  And definitely get an itemized contract and not a total package price, so you can see if you are really getting good value and not just a salesman' pitch.

I am writing to update my review and change my score for Metro Builders.  I gave Erez a second chance and had him send me a guy to do some demolition work on my garage.  Although the worker arrived over an hour late, he worked very hard for the 6 hours and accomplished quite a bit more than I had hoped.  I was pleased enough with the work and with Erez' responsiveness that I am asking him to bid on the next phase of my project.  For me, follow through and doing what you say is extremely important and Erez has shown those qualities with his follow-up.

After I wrote my initial review the owner of the company, Erez called me to try to rectify the situation.  At first I was reluctant to give his company a second chance but he was determined.  He offered to do the 6 hours of work for free in order to earn my business and perhaps change my initial impression of his company. As a man of my word, I only want what I paid for but I appreciated the gesture and agreed to meet.

Erez came over this morning to evaluate the job and apologized for the miscommunication I had with his sales rep. It was obvious that he understood how important customer relations are to his business and I decided to give them a second chance to do the work.  After the work has been completed I will update my review and be able to give them an accurate grade.    

I thought it was a fair deal for 6 hours of labor. I called them and they responded and got out pretty quickly, but when they came out to assess what I wanted, he told me he could not do the work unless I had an electrician come out as well. I understand the liability with that, but I know that would be a pretty costly task. When they told me they couldn't do the work with my garage, I gave them a couple other projects I needed done, one being a door and some interior handyman stuff as well. He told me he could not do the work because it would require 2 guys, and I showed him on the coupon where it had said two guys may be used and he still said he could not honor the coupon.

This is the second time I've used Metro.

I had a lot of fears going into this type of project.I heard from many people that contractors never stand behind the original budget that they quote and that really scared me. Luckily  that was not the case with us. Not only that we stayed on our budget,In many cases the contractor added some free upgrades that we did not even ask for at the original contract : He built a sitting bench for the steam shower and installed a decorative fans in both rooms .There were so many other little thing that if I would add all them It would easily sum to $4000-$5000.  For me this is a great customer service and if I ever need to do some more remodeling in my house I will surly call this company and reefer all my friends to them.

ANOTHER FABULOUS  PROJECT BY METRO BUILDERS AND REMODELING. I'M WRITING THIS REVIEW ON BEHALF OF MY DAUGHTER MARINA FROM PACIFIC PALISADES CA. METRO BUILDERS AND REMODELING JUST FINISHED THE PROJECT LAST MONTH AND ITS LOOK AMAZING !!!  NOW ALL THE NEIGHBORS WANTS TO DO THE
SAME.  EREZ FROM  METRO BUILDERS FUND THIS HARD TO FIND VERY RARE GRANITE FOR THE BBQ COUNTER TOP.  THE GUYS DID THE STONE INSTALLATION ARE PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS. NICE, CLEAN, SMOOTH.

They started in april and finished in about 4 months.
