Waste of time and money. Didn't listen to what I wanted at all. Wasted time making me look through designs of gaudy Over-done houses that looked nothing like mine. Produced a general drawing (including plants I specifically said I didn't like) with no measurements. When I asked, they said u can get that from the scale. I asked again and they said measurements were not included! They were on time for the appt., but 2 weeks late with the product. But I couldn't use it anyway-- complete waste of time and money. AS TO RESPONSE: What you consider yelling, I don't know. I was speaking on a cell phone and was definitely frustrated by your lack of professionalism in failing to respond to calls and emails. I see you did not deny wasting my time lookign at a book of Beverly Hillbillies designs, or deny ignoring my specific instructions and preferences re plants. Why would I want to meet again? And you never ever gave me measurements, but only repeated it was drawn to scale. Big help. Bottom line: waste of time and money.

I thought their prices were fair, and they were very pleasant to work with.

I purchased the big deal on Angies list and was notified the following day of contacts and start dates. Dee came as scheduled and explained what would be done and how long the project would take. The work started on time and wow, I kid you not, what a lot of work they did. There were areas of the back yard I didn't think possible to clean since many different "gardeners" and "landscapers" had never touched the area. The workers started early morning before I left for work and were still there in the evening when I returned home! Everyday before leaving they cleaned up and hauled the "old stuff". They even skimmed the pool so my family was able to enjoy a late night swim and a jacuzzi. That had never been done in past projects. Since we have owned our house for many years we have payed for yard repairs and replacements of the irrigation system countless times (most repairs not lasting long - although quite costly). G&L workers put in a new irrigation system and took out the old. Every inch of the plants and grass (instead of wasted water on concrete) gets watered when the sprinklers come on.The transformation of my yard is amazing! I love it the way it looks now but cant wait until all the gorgeous plants fill in. The sod is beautiful and Dee designed it perfectly. I did have a few ideas but he has the experience so after some discussion, I "let him go with his magic". I couldn't be more pleased with his design.In order to keep the beauty of my yard I have hired G&L to do weekly maintenance and will weigh in on that with a review in a few months.If I had to pick a negative, upon returning from a four day vacation, we noticed that some patches of sod and a few plants had not thrived. However when I notified Sharon, she assured me that they would be replaced. She later informed me that Dee had stopped by the very next day to confirm our findings. I am anxiously waiting for the replacements but have no worries that indeed the work will be done.Sharon ( to whom I give a 100% ranking) was in communication every step of the way and was very informative. She couldn't have been a more courteous or pleasant person to work with. I am truly looking forward to our "maintenance relationship" and will keep you all posted!If you are interested in a landscaping project, do yourself a favor - go with Dee and Sharon and save yourself a lot of money and "do overs". I guarantee you will not be disappointed by their workmanship and extreme professionalism!

No complaints, no surprises, Every.thing went smoothly & on schedule. Very professional

Sharon replied to our interest within a day of requesting info. Within a week we had a quote that was VERY reasonable and a plan. Dee was our landscaper and he estimated the full job to be a 2 week job. He and his crew were done in 5 days! The hill looks great, we will soon have the growth we needed for added privacy, the deck is spectacular and adds SQ footage to our living space outdoors, and the flowers and foliage is beautiful now ... I can only imagine what it will be like in a few months! The price was unbeatable. The professionalism of the crew was unmatched. Each day they would sweep the pool to be sure their work had not affected the water. I was able to work with them to choose the foliage while being given good advice on what would work well where we are, and the deck is big, beautiful and so much more than we could have imagined. My only complaint, and it is not one that would affect my decision to choose them again, was that they worked fast and furiously for 4 days, after we paid for 95% of the job, the responsiveness to final issues and concerns tapered off. I was pleased with the work overall, but felt a little abandoned at the end when we did need some minor things adjusted and fixed. Still, they were great overall ... I will just be sure to ask my final questions early on in the future so I do not feel like the "hot potato" next time. But yes, I do hope there IS a next time!

We did not choose to use the designs because they weren’t quite what we were looking for.

This was an Angie's List special offer. We coordinated with their office to schedule a time when they would be in our area.They were prompt and courteous. They explained what they did and made suggestions for future projects.

I got an email from Angie's List for a sprinkler tune-up for a certain price. I didn't like them. I would not use them again. They didn't really do much. They just came out, changed a couple of sprinkler heads, and left.

The servicemen were very nice and professional. Scheduling was a bit of a challenge...the receptionist continually tried to suggest dates and times that were not convenient for me but were a convenient for the service workers since the would be in my area. The coupon was good until October of 2011 but from the moment it was purchased in early April, they were in contact me to schedule my tune-up. That was fine, but when I said I needed to wait until the summer when my work schedule freed up, you'd think they would leave it at that. I finally was convinced to take the May 31st date for the tune-up but I had to leave work early to accommodate it. Oh well...so I rushed home between 3:30 and 4pm telling Sharon, the scheduler that it would have to be closer to 4pm with traffic from the SF Valley. When I got home the service guys were getting back in their truck to leave! What?!? It was 3:47 when I got there. The gentleman in charge said, "Oh, she told me 3:30.." Clearly, this woman does not listen to anything I say--which was specifically that I'd be home closer to 4pm. Anyways, they stayed and did the tune-up--everything seemed in good working condition except for one line that was broken. They fixed it as part of the tune-up. That was good. I had some questions about landscaping and adding sprinkler lines and the gentleman said he'd get back to me via e-mail in the next week or so. I thought great, even though it was a rocky start, we may be able to do continued business. Well, it's July 14 now and I never heard back from them. No call, no e-mail. I guess they weren't interested in more business from me.

Rick Shadley was prompt and very friendly. I gave him some ideas on things I'd like to keep and he drew up a plan and plant list for my front yard. I like Rick's traditional landscape style and he provided a nice plan that was conservative and in keeping with the neighborhood, but provided some planting ideas that I hadn't thought of before. I plan on having G&L provide a formal estimate for the landscaping project in the near future.

I was very pleased with their service. Dee [Dror] and his two man crew were prompt, very professional and finished the job in short order. I had several brown areas in both my front and back lawns where there was insufficient coverage and since Dee reconfigured the sprinklers they are just about gone. They did a great job!

Great service from G&L - Arrived on-time, went right to work reviewing the setup and adjusting the heads, adjusted several heads for maximum coverage, repaired and replaced on head, free of charge... Set new watering time on the zones and made recommendations to improve the efficiency of the system. After a few weeks I needed to add some additional time to the zones for my area but that was minor and overall the system is working great. A+ for G&L

I purchased the Angie's Deal $59 for a full sprinkler system tune-up. The company, namely Sharon, was quick to contact me and set up a time for them to come out. I really appreciated this. However, once they came out, they basically gave my husband an estimate on what it would cost to fix our sprinkler system...$1500! They changed out one nozzle and told us that our lines were clogged, our pressure was off, and our nozzles were in the wrong places. My husband and I were inder the impression that those were the things we paid for them to fix according to Angie's Deal: "Tune-up includes cleaning and adjusting clogged nozzles, main line inspection, lateral leaks, dry areas, rain sensor and set controller for proper watering time and duration"We felt like we had just paid for what should have been a free inspection. We did contact another company who came out, did a free inspection, and came back with a much better price to fix our sprinkler system. After this experience, I went back and read the reviews on Angie's List about this company and learned that I was not the only one who was duped by this "deal".

Rick, G&L's landscape architect, visited our home twice, once to measure and photograph the backyard and discuss my ideas and his advice, and the second time to review the plan and proposed plants and prices. Initially we had planned to purchase the design services only and either source the job ourselves or do it bit by bit. But the plan was so beautiful and so complete that we decided to just go for it and asked G&L to do the complete job. We had two large, existing flower beds removed. A new sprinkler system was installed. We had new plants go in on three sides of our yards, including a new fence and privacy hedges on our back wall. The landscaping included many small, drought tolerant plants, the privacy hedges, as well as some citrus trees, a Crape Myrtle tree, a bit of new sod and some ground cover. In addition we did a side yard project with gravel and succulents (cactus, etc) and a gravel patio graded for drainage behind our garage. We now have a gorgeous, much improved yard that we have already spent a lot more time enjoying. A few days ago we had unexpected visitors and what a pleasure it was to invite them out back! We've had a lot of admirers of not just the beautiful plants but also the creativity and professionalism of the work done. Now, here's the blow by blow of the project itself. Communication with the office was professional and prompt. There was a proposal and a contract, and we sent a deposit. The work began as discussed and was done in three days. Sharon was great to work with and being able to do almost everything by email helped a lot. Like everyone we're a busy family so it was easy to share documents with my husband. This sounds like a small thing but we've absolutely worked with other contractors who are basically in the stone age still working in paper, and don't want to share anything, let alone proposals and contracts, via email. First of all I have to give these guys a lot of credit for being able to work on the fly with me. The plan as designed was a bit too far over budget for us after we thought it through (they didn't suggest things that were over budget- I'd requested removal and replacement of a concrete patio, but changed my mind and needed a new proposal and contract). Some companies would balk even at that request but they did it with a quick turnaround time and a price adjusted to the scale of the job I wanted done. After the crew arrived and began demo of our existing plants and beds, it became clear that I had not communicated the full scope of the job I wanted done. We had an ancient fence, ivy and a brick planter bed in the back and I had wanted it removed and well, bottom line is I didn't explain that fully to them prior to signing the contract. Yet they were able to reprice the job (very fairly considering it was already underway I might add) for demo of the fence and planter bed as well as adding in a new fence to match our neighbor's. Also as the work was already underway I asked them if they could do some additional work on our side yard, removing brick pavers and replacing it with flagstone and gravel and "something else nice". Rick, the landscape architect, came by to check on the project underway and was able to make some suggestions on the spot for a beautiful succulent garden. On the final day of the project I wasn't quite happy about how the side yard project was turning out, so I called the company and once again, within an hour, I had someone on site to consult with me on how to redo the gravel and flagstone. I don't recommend making so many changes over the course of a project! But I believe that their willingness to work with me throughout and continue to be friendly and accommodating, never cutting corners and always maintaining professionalism and high quality work really speaks to the nature of the company. They really went above and beyond in terms of the design, the work, their flexibility and even the materials. We were not expecting to have our sprinkler heads replaced but that is just what they did for us- and it really made a huge difference. I appreciate them taking the time to do that for us. The old ones broke all the time and didn't take into consideration our older pipes and low water pressure. The new ones are professional quality, higher grade construction and also they rotate, which saves water by delivering what we do have more efficiently and effectively. We have had landscape edging installed on previous jobs and when they pulled it up out of the ground during the demo I saw that it was, in fact, purchased at a home improvement store. Comparing the edging they brought and the old stuff showed me what a huge difference it makes hiring a professional. The new stuff is sturdier, goes in deeper, and will last longer- not to mention the fact that it looks a lot better. Another example- when the started to pour the pea gravel in our side yard I flipped out because I'd imagined a smaller, rounder rock. I called them up immediately while I was kicking myself for signing the contract and agreeing to that type of gravel. Dee, who was managing the project, drove up literally a few minutes later and reassured me that this was in fact the kind of gravel I actually wanted. He was 100% right. Why? The side yard was also a walkway frequented by my kids. Those little rocks would be a royal pain, scattering everywhere and impossible to keep in the patio area. The bigger size was exactly right. So glad he didn't let me do the small pea gravel!! There were a lot of instances like that where I had a question on the material or plant, and the guys on site were able to reassure me and in every instance they were spot-on. When the job was finished, we had a couple more visits to ensure that everything was working properly, and follow up emails with instructions on watering and maintenance. We were so happy I asked them to do a proposal for us on our front yard as our next project. Again, everyone who has seen the newly improved yard is extremely impressed. We look forward to enjoying it and big thanks to G&L.

They showed up right on time, answered all of my questions, and did the work quickly and well. I was pleased.

Dee arrived on time for the sprinkler tune up and was done quickly with a crew of 2 other men. On the day of the drip line, they showed up on time, and had one person there to plant all the plants and dispose of the old plants and soil etc. Then the rest of the crew showed up to install the new drip system. I told Dee the sprinklers were not working on cycle 3 when it goes through the automated cycle versus manually when you check it, it will come on. He quickly identified the issue with the electronics on the sprinkler main and was able to fix it for me then and there. Now it works fine. This sprinkler system has been checked by our gardener before and the drip line installed by him. I got what I paid for with the gardener because the work was only done 70% correct. Dee's group did a 100% job. Dee sent me to buy my own plants. He sent me to a great Nursery called Ramy's. A family owned place, Tom was very helpful and we selected all the plants. The prices were extremely reasonable. I have had contractors send me to their "friends" before and prices were steep, but not with Dee and Ramy's. Thanks for the new nursery Dee! Now my backyard looks so much better with the plants and I know my investment won;t wilt on the vine so to speak. Now that the sprinklers are working better, out plants on cycle 3 are getting huge and plentiful. I will use this group again for landscape needs. Thank you for a terrific job.

They did an excellent job; more then what I expected. After a few calls with the office, we scheduled a time for Rick to come out. He was very attentive while my wife and I discussed what we wanted. Our yard was slightly larger than what the agreed upon price was for, but Rick went ahead and provided a design for the entire yard. The drawing showed lawn, planting areas, types of plants and some hardscape. We opted to have a different company do the work to bring in compost, till the yard, plant grass and install a sprinkler system. The remaining part of the design, my wife and I plan on doing ourselves.

Excellent, professional work....very knowledgeable and affordable. I recently moved into the property which has elaborate gardening and exotic plantings, with no directions from seller regarding the complex irrigation system or caretaking directions. G&L came in and quickly analyzed my system and pointed out prior faults. They cleaned and adjusted leaks and heads, saving me time and expense, and most importantly, precious water.

It went well, although steep slope prevented inspection of a few sprinklers.

He wanted cash payment. I thought the price was a little excessive. They did not set the timer right when they came out. The sprinklers started going off at 5:00 AM on a Sunday.

Overall, I am very pleased with G&L Design. Dror Skolnick (owner) and 1 assistant (I forget his name) came out on Easter Sunday!!! to perform the service. Both were very professional and respectful of my time...I was in the middle of breakfast and they assured me I could get back to eating and they would let me know if they needed anything. All work they proposed to do was well communicated to me as well as repairs that were in addition to the service. Extra items were pointed out to me, explained, and required my approval before anything was done. I did not feel pressured to get the repair done right away and the estimated price was good. I plan to use this company again for future tune ups and for design work when I change the backyard layout. I feel very confident in recommending G&L to other Angie's List Members.

They arrived and checked our system. They found three leaks in our pipes, they showed me the leaks, all of them were fairly dramatic, then they gave me an estimate for how much it would cost to fix the pipes. I also showed him a troubling area that we have where, because a set of sprinklers are too close to the house, they are ruining the window sills, staining the windows with hard water, and ruining the stucco. He said we could replace the sprinkler heads with a drip system. I asked him to give me an estimate for that work. He said he'd email it to me, and never did. They were fine, not sure if I'd hire them again, but our sprinklers are apparently challenging because this is the second guy we've had out to work on them since we bought the house, and they always seem like they're watering some areas too much and other areas not enough. A few weeks after the adjustments were made, I went onto the hillside and noticed that one of the plants I just planted has dried up and the vines around it are drying up too.

Very professional and very nice. They did whatever it took to get my sprinklers back working properly and adjusted them so they were watering what needed to be watered. If it was more than just the sprinkler they would dig it up and fix what needed to be fixed and replace the dirt and lawn. Then check again to make sure the sprinkler was working properly. They found a leak in the backyard pipe and was able to fix that for me. Before they left they adjusted my timer to the the appropriate time and minutes of watering. Would definitely recommend them.

They were able to come in and do the job well. They were very helpful
