Kastaman Construction

Description of Work: Alex Kastamanov remodeled our 2nd bathroom in an art deco motif. He supplied the labor, as the very expensive fixtures and materials were owner supplied. The job required an artist's touch to do it right, and Alex's tile work in a very complex pattern is the best I have seen, and I was a working member of a family construction company years ago and well know what is good work and what is not. This job required a tear out down to the joists, studs and rafters and a total rebuild within the same space. A Jacuzzi tub system was installed along with custom designed maple and walnut cabinets, forged bronze light fixtures, Italian antique brass bath fixtures, a marble counter and solid Italian antique brass door hardware. All were top of the line components and required an experienced and understanding touch to install correctly. Alex did all the craft work himself with no assistants(other than myself at age 66), as we required. He came to work early every day and often stayed late until the job was completed in about 6 weeks, about double the time it would take to complete a typical bathroom, due to the complexity and care this bath required. Alex was a trained and schooled engineer in his native Europe, and he brings that level of attention to detail, intelligence and visionary insight to his craftsmanship here in America. We were fortunate to have him do this job for us( we selected him over many others, and his bid was not the lowest)as my contractor background makes me all too aware of how much of the previous good craftsmanship in America has been lost due to poor craft training and the loss of union apprentice trade schools. Many things are better, but some things in life are truly not as good as they once were, but all of us are lucky that Alex brings the talent, experience, aptitude and positive attitude to do his remodel work as it should be done......the right way, which to me is the only way. And, as a bonus, he is an engaging person with a great sense of humor and fairness and is a very pleasant man with whom to work toward a common goal. You cannot do better than Alex for any top quality remodel.
