Terrible people!
Description of Work: would not repair the A/C when it broke in the middle of summer. They had one of their vendors come out and write a huge report about how the damage had to be prior to the purchase of the home. I asked for them to come out and have a second opinion and they would not. getting a lawyer.

Also perhaps with all their repairs they broke it using their pliers... I am left with a $1000 bill for repairs now and I dropped FIDELITY as a bad faith insurer !!!

Basically, they sent me a plumber who was late, in between jobs, and still had to get home-over an hour away-in Saturday afternoon traffic. He couldn't work on a plumbing leak because it was wet. He gave me a number to a company he's dealt with who wanted me to put in an outrageous claim against my homeowner's insurance. Fidelity's response was unhelpful and said that it was their company policy about "Hazardous Conditions" that wouldn't allow him under the home. Then why do they offer warranties on manufactured homes? All the pipes are under the house. Their initial response and service was satisfactory but their follow through was ridiculous. They told me I should have read the fine print on the flyer they sent me which serves as their 'policy'. I will not be renewing my warranty with them and I wil not pay $55 for them to do nothing. I have since been informed that there is a class-action suit against Fidelity regarding problems with their contractors and service companies. The link for more information is www.gcginc.com/cases/fnh
Description of Work: We have had this company since buying our manufactured home in October 2009. We discovered there was a small leak in one of the pipes underneath the home. My husband went under there and said there was a small puddle. We called Fidelity and they were going to try to get a plumber out that evening. They called back a little while later and said they couldn't get anyone out today but how about tomorrow morning (Saturday)? I said ok. They gave me the name and number and told me they would be out before noon. This company was based approximately 60 miles from my home. At noon I called the number given to me and the guy said oh, it'll be a few more hours. He called back 10 minutes later, said he was in the area and could come by now before his other job. I said ok. He came to my house, removed a vent cover from the siding and said, "Oh, it's wet under there. California Law says I can't go under there until it's dry" and told me I need to call a restoration company. (No such law exists) He told Fidelity the same so they called me and said they couldn't do anything for me. The plumber gave me the name and phone number of a company that could help me. The lady at the restoration company told me I could put in a claim to my homeowner's insurance. I let them come look at it anyway. The tech that came out said it was barely wet under the home and he didn't understand why he was there. I didn't call Fidelity back because I was getting the runaround and didn't appreciate it. They billed me 2 months later for a $55 house call. When I called to dispute it, I was put on hold for over 20 minutes, the person who got on the line refused to reverse the charge and would only send another plumber out if I paid for the first time. He said I should have paid for a different plumber out of my pocket and then disputed the charges with them. They may have done something about it then.

Home Warranty Company: My first home, built in 1946. In two weeks and having plumbing back-up. Called Fidelity at 10:45 am and they got a local plumber, STS Plumbing, to come out. The young man who came out only had a small snake so couldn't help, but "would call a tech who could". Turns out, there is no sewer clean out on this old house, only a small one on the kitchen side. Ooops. Got a call back that they would have someone out tomorrow. Uh...not good enough, I only have ONE bathroom. I called back and pressed STS. Turns out, they don't have the equipment, as they would have to lift the toilet and snake through there. OF COURSE, this kind of service isn't covered by the warranty. Murphy's Law is alive and well. I called Jason at Fidelity and he was very nice and professional. Recommended another plumber who they do a lot of work with. AND he said that because this was my first call and nothing was done, he would reverse my $55 fee. NOW THAT WAS VERY NICE. (but then I asked). Home Warranties ($350 paid by seller) contracts are limited, you have to read the fine print. But they mostly cover appliances that go bad. Hope I don't have to use them again, but they were nice and professional, it just took all day to find out they can't help me. Now, to Angie's List to find a real plumber!

We recently moved into an older home that had been renovated just prior to our moving in. Our real estate agent bought this home warranty service for the first year, and as soon as we moved in we noticed things weren't quite right. The bathtub leaked profusely around the newly installed shower frame, and the heating didn't seem to be responding to the thermostat settings correctly. Basically we couldn't shower without flooding the bathroom floors, and we woke up every morning freezing. When we contacted the warranty service, they sent providers right away (after charging the fees for service calls), but of the three people they've sent out to the house one didn't work on our type of heater, and the other two blew off the complaints and walked out of the house with minimal explanation after about 15 minutes. Fidelity has been easy to get hold of, and you can talk to a representative right away, but their solution to our problem has just been to repeatedly send out person after person, which means my husband and I have to take time off of work to be there. The problems STILL aren't fixed! The companies that the warranty service contracts with have been extremely unhelpful, and quite rude when we ask them questions. We are quite disappointed by our experience, and will likely have to pay for our own contractors to come evaluate issues that should be covered by our warranty service!

This warranty was provided to us when we purchased the home. Within three weeks of closing, our water tank began leaking. We called FNHW and they had their contractor (Roto-Rooter) out within 18 hours to diagnose and/or repair. The tank was a total loss and the job had a $2000 price tag. The job cost us $50 as this is the standard deductible. The plumber was efficient and professional. Recently, the dishwasher control board went out, we called FNHW again and a new company was out to diagnose the appliance. We paid the $50 deductible again and are now enjoying our new dishwasher We recently found that the warranty is $300 per year and renewable. In June, you can bet that we will be going with them again.

They are pretty good, but, I think they are a little high priced. Their customer service has always been prompt; they'll send somebody out quickly or have somebody call in the first 24 hours. They to the most part have paid any claim that I have ever had. They are pretty thorough. Their representative can solve any problem if there are any which I never had, but, if there are any problems you can discuss with the representative and she will take care of it. The representative's name is Joan Katsuda.

To my experience they are much better than another home warranty company that I have used. They have been really good. It looks as if there are only certain areas that they cover. I believe the price is based upon where the customer lives. When I have a problem (such as plumbing or electrical), they charge something like $50 to come out to solve the problem. Usually that is all unless there is something else that is going on that is not covered under the contract. Recently, my washing machine went out, and the guy that came out charged $50 to look at it and say, it would be very expensive to fix and he would call Fidelity. Fidelity said that it was too expensive to repair and it would be cheaper to buy a new one, so they gave us an amount to work with. They have contractors working for them. They also have a deal with a department store, so that allowed us to pick out our washing machine from a commercial we had seen. They installed the washing machine and that was it. We did end up paying $150 for the washing machine but that was our choice.

This home warranty that a seller of a home is required to purchase on behalf of a buyer feels like a big Ponzi scheme. The seller is required to do so per the sales contract. The home warranty vendor, in this case Fidelity National, when called upon to perform service, will try to do everything in their power to deny your claim. You are stuck with paying the deductible. In our case, Fidelity National denied the claim because they said the existing HVAC system wasn't the appropriate unit for the house, and they will not work on fixing something that isn't the appropriate size. The HVAC system was the original unit when the house was built 18 years ago, in a planned urban development! It was built to code at that time. New energy requirements went into effect a few years ago, but all existing HVAC systems were grand-fathered in. Fidelity National said that this doesn't apply to their policies, and that I would need to replace the entire unit, which of course is not covered under their warranty. In summary, Fidelity National will try to find any excuse to get out of servicing your contract. I will certainly not renew with them once the first year "coverage" has expired.
Description of Work: My HVAC system malfunctioned after moving into my new home. Per the sales contract, we had the home warranty through Fidelity National and contacted them to have a service technician come out to fix it. They sent a technician out in a timely manner, but the technician did not try to repair the unit, but rather looked for issues that allowed Fidelity National to deny the claim.

Most of the repair people were punctual, professional, and didn't smell like they had been smoking on the way over. Everything that needed repair or replacement in 2006 was repaired or replaced. I paid a flat fee of $50.00 by check to the company that came to my assistance. There were many times when the bill would have been over $200.00. I was very fortunate to have this policy.
Description of Work: This company sent various technicians to check and repair or replace whatever was broken. In 2006, I requested help over ten times: microwave oven, garage door opener, dishwasher, garbage disposal, bath and shower fixtures, bathroom sink faucet mechanism, gas fireplace, and toilets. The garage door opener and remotes were replaced. The microwave oven and dishwasher were deemed beyond repair so the company sent me a check to replace them. The service company technicians were prompt and got the job done. (There were a couple of exceptions. When I had a similar breakdown, I requested other companies.)

When they moved the sink, it caused damage and the warranty company was not willing to repair it. They would not reimburse the contractor to come back and fix the sink. The guy was an idiot at the warranty company. I was very upset. They treated us terribly.
Description of Work: There was a leak in the plumbing in our half bath. They had to remove the sink to get to the pipe. The warranty company had a sub-contractor come out and do the work.
