The service reps are not very responsive. We have to call to get an update. We did escalate to a supervisor who simply repeated that there is nothing she could do.
Description of Work: We paid our annual premium, plus a $65 service call fee when our air conditioner went out. We opened a ticket on a Wednesday. The provider they told us was coming actually sent a different company. They showed up the next day, Thursday. It is now a week and a day later (day 10 without Air Conditioning in hot Texas) and Fidelity still cannot provide us with a date on which our air conditioner will be repaired. They keep repeating that they are not responsible for service and shipping delays.

Basically, this company engaged the worst pluming company that I've ever encountered. The plumbing company was unable to complete the repair. After numerous complaints to Fidelity, I engaged a plumber who fixed the issue, same day, no problem. I would have been better off not having the warranty, they're not worth the effort.
Description of Work: The warranty was provided by the seller of my home. I had a plumbing issue that arose.

This company won't replace a 22 year old microwave oven that leaks microwave energy, has a door that is off adjustment with a burn on it. I bought a microwave tester that costs three times more than the technician's tester and has A ratings. It registered maximum microwave leakage. The technician had a tester that has been evaluated by the International Microwave Institute to be unreliable in their 2012 report. The certified technician didn't know that his tester has to be calibrated regularly and also said when I asked that he had never had his tester register a microwave leak at all. Three minutes after he left a representative from Fidelity National Home Warranty called me to say that my microwave would not be replaced and she was quite rude. The Home Warranty contract only allows to replace a microwave if it won't heat anything. So in my opinion, this is a reckless policy when it comes to microwave ovens and should probably be illegal to sell a warranty plan with this limitation for this appliance. But it appears that since microwave leaks do not cause immediate harm that can be seen or death to the user they can get away with it. My conscience wouldn't allow that if it was my company and that is the truth. The technician and home warranty company did not offer to repair it. I would have declined to anyway.
Description of Work: Scheduled microwave oven inspection.

Please accept my apologies for the manner in which you felt you were treated as a customer of our Company. Your concerns are important to the company and we appreciate the opportunity to respond to your complaint. Review of your claim information shows the technician did not find a mechanical failure with the microwave at the time of service. As stated under the Limits of Liability #1 section of the Contract; “FNHW’s liability is limited to failures due to normal wear and tear during the term of the contract.” You spoke to a representative of the Company on January 8, 2016 to dispute the diagnosis and were informed that you are entitled to obtain your own second opinion, at your expense, and that you may submit that second opinion to the Company for further review. This information is pursuant to the Limits of Liability #2 section of the Contract which provides; “FNHW reserves the right to obtain a second opinion at its own expense. The contract holder may order their own second opinion, but shall be responsible for the cost of said opinion.” We believe this information completely responds to your request. We value your business and look forward to a continued service relationship with you. Horrible. Call on Thursday, finally a tech in the house on Tuesday (showing up 3 hours after promised window). Due to secondary damage kitchen had to be demolished. Took 45 minutes on the phone to not let that void the warranty. When tech came out, damage to pipes was found (since they were exposed) and need for a copper cap was evident. Tech did not have it on the car, forcing a second call (at $106). Warranty refused to pick up bill, alleging that I created the issue. Overall, during calls, I found company unresponsive and quickly dismissive. I fear for bigger damage to my house and the ensuing battle for coverage. Would not recommend this company to anyone.

Please accept my apologies for the manner in which you felt you were treated as a customer of our Company. FNHW operates with the best of intentions and deepest respect for all of our customers. We understand that your property incurred secondary damages as a result of your plumbing stoppage. As stated under the Limits of Liability #6; “FNHW is not responsible for consequential or secondary damages resulting from the failure of a covered system and/or appliance and/or failure to provide timely service due to conditions beyond FNHW’s control, including but not limited to delays in securing parts, equipment, and/or labor difficulties.” Each claim is processed under the terms and conditions of the warranty contract and accepted or denied on that basis. Our records show the technician with Pruitt's Plumbing LLC was able to clear the kitchen sink stoppage. However, the technician found the kitchen sink drain plumbing was originally designed to accommodate two sinks and that the secondary sink’s drain line had been previously capped off. The Company understands that this temporary drain cap has not failed due to normal wear and tear. Nevertheless, the temporary drain cap leaks when the drain line experiences a stoppage. Furthermore, the technician with Pruitt's Plumbing LLC advised the temporary drain cap was physically damaged during an attempt to clear the stoppage prior to the technician’s arrival. This is not considered a covered failure and replacement of the temporary drain cap does not fall under the purview of the Home Warranty. As stated under the Limits of Liability #1 section of the Contract; “FNHW’s liability is limited to failures due to normal wear and tear during the term of the contract.” We hope that the true value of this home warranty coverage will continue to be beneficial and convenient as FNHW aims to provide the highest levels of service to you. Should you have any additional questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact us.

Others say this company is better than most. NOT GOOD. Service fee was suppose to be $65. They did a bait and switch calling it a modification fee. bring the cost to $337. Mod consisted of 4 pipes. 4 pipes for $275+. I suppose its the way they work with the provider under table or should I say in the closed door of the truck. If it was a upfront honest deal why didn't the provider talk on the phone in front of us. SNEAKY! I will never use either company again.

Please accept my apologies for the manner in which you felt you were treated as a customer of our Company. FNHW operates with the best of intentions and deepest respect for all of our customers. The Company understands that you contend the plumbing modifications required for your water heater replacement should be covered under the Contract. Please review the terms of your Home Warranty. I called Fidelity and was meet with an uncaring unprofessional agent named Alan. I requested another company come out to do the repair and was told that they Have to wait until the close of business today to see if they call.If they don't call I have to start all over again tomorrow morning. He refused to do anything further. It is pointless to pay for a home warranty company that is rude and unhelpful.
Description of Work: A/C unit went out on a saturday morning. I called Fidelity first thing and was referred to a company that was closed on the weekend but did have an emergency phone number. I left a message for the A/C repair company and as of Monday I have not heard from them.

Tried to request service on our A/C. 110 degrees here in Phoenix. They refused to even talk to us until we paid the service fee for our refrigerator repair 2 months ago. Were extremely rude and condescending when we assured them that the bill had been paid. Required payment by credit card that afternoon (for the previous service visit), but the payment couldn't clear until after midnight, so they wouldn't even initiate a service request until the next day. I have sent them 3 emails now with proof of payment of the original service (from my bank, showing the payment had been processed by their company and cleared by my bank weeks earlier). They have never responded to my request for a refund of the original payment or reversed the credit card payment. Have had home warranty coverage through Fidelity National Home Warranty for 8 years ago. Have needed service through them a number of times for our A/C and refrigerator primarily, but also for a broken hot water heater. EVERY time a repair was needed, it has taken 3 - 4 days (or more) to get someone to the house, even when it was 115 degrees or we had no hot water. 2 summers ago, we had to LITERALLY call them back no less than 6 - 8 times when the repair company failed to repair our A/C. Every time they would come they would give a different reason that the unit wasn't working. They replaced component after component. On the 4th or 5th visit (all requiring that we take time off from work, mind you), the service person did something that caused electrical failure for the entire house. It took several days for them to send an electrician to repair the damage done!! This was (of course again) in 110 - 115 degree heat. We had to stay at a hotel for several nights (our dog would have died while we were at work during the day) and were not reimbursed for the expense, despite this being caused by the service company. EVEN AFTER THAT they refused to let us change the service company still working on the original problem that was not yet repaired. I am a 50 year old physician and I literally BEGGED them to send out a different company, as this one was clearly inept/incompetent. I filed several complaints with them regarding the service company. They still refused to let me change, saying that the repair would stay with the same company until it was resolved. I eventually called a company on my own (and paid for the service out of pocket) who repaired the A/C on the first visit. Each and every time there has been frustration, obfuscation and a considerable impact on career obligations to get a repair done. To their credit, they have never made any of the pre-existing condition or lack-of-maintenance denials that I have seen in reviews of other companies. I can not more passionately discourage anyone from using this company. I am investigating alternative companies but am also reading numerous and consistent articles by reputable consumer reports agencies recommending against purchasing a home warranty service contract with any company.

We had them out about a month ago to replace a washing machine. It was 25 years old and they couldn't fix it because the parts were no longer made so they gave us a check that we thought was fair. They gave us the option of getting a 3.6 cubit feet washing machine. We were hoping to get one a little bigger. We decided to take the money instead of the washing machine. I think their price is very fair.

We’ve used Fidelity home warranty insurance for the past eight and have been very pleased. We've used them to make many repairs on our home such as plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, etc. They always send out qualified people. We've never had to turn anybody away they send. We highly recommend them to others and will continue to use them in the future.

The man I bought my condo from provided this warranty. They sent out an electrician to repair a broken light switch (it took several days for him to come). He didn't repair it properly and had to come back to fix it again. He told me there would be no charge for the second trip, but he told the warranty company that it was a new job, a new repair, and of course they couldn't wait to charge me another fee. My explanation that it was the same switch and that he hadn't fixed it right the first time fell on deaf, greedy ears. Needless to say, I haven't renewed the warranty!

Believe me, this company is a total scam. They will always find a way not to honor the warranty. I got this home warranty when I purchased my house, i though it's great I can just call this company if something goes wrong. 1 month later, i found water heater had gas leakage, they don't cover and asked me to pay $105 additional charge because they said only cover water heater not gas pipe. Then a week later, water leakage in one of the bathrooms, they said because it was pre existing condition. However it is not on my home inspection report, how can they tell it is pre existing issue. The answer I got is their technician concluded it is existing problem, so i have to pay and they don't need to prove me anything because fine print bah bah bah. Today I found electrical wiring was bad and no power in few power outlets, they said it's pre existing condition again because original installation was bad, and asked for $195 + $65 service callor I can find the original installer to fix it but still has to pay $65 and contractor can leave. They don't care whatever you said, they will just insist they don't cover for whatever reasons they come out with. If i ask the contractor to go and don't fix, they still charge you $65 even they don't cover. I've no choice but to pay all 3 times for $105, $120, and $195 on top of the $65 service call. This company is a scam, stay away. Even you get their service for free when you purchase your house, don't use them. They will scam you even more. Ask credit from seller and save in your bank for dealing problem yourself, you probably will save more. This is a ridiculous company, i wait for class action soon, i know it is going to happen.

I should have heeded the warnings! My real estate agent offered me a Home Warranty Policy paid for by the seller. This is something that happens all the time when one purchases a house. I looked on all of the usual websites (Angie's List, Yelp to name 2) and most of the companies had abysmal reviews. Since I wasn't paying for it, I chose Fidelity National Home Warranty even though they had lots of F grades, with a scattered few good reviews (probably planted by the company ). Most of the reviews said the company would do anything to avoid fixing a product and would find all sorts of loopholes and send out shills to appease the client and then do nothing. They charge $65 per visit which you must pay in advance. OK, I live in the house 2 weeks with a working propane water heater and it stops working. I call Fidelity and they were extremely solicitous on the phone. "Of COURSE we will help as soon as possible and expedite your request since you have no hot water," the receptionist said. So they sent out these two guys who arrived an hour after the scheduled time. They looked at the heater and said it was old. Duh. They tried to light the pilot AND DIDN'T KNOW HOW! I had to show them and light it (these are supposedly hot water heater repair people). Then they started taking pictures. They didn't try to fix anything, they just wanted pictures. A metal piece was missing from the cover and they took a few pictures of that. I told them that had NOTHING to do with the problem. The heater lit up perfectly and then went out after about 2 minutes. There was probably an issue with the regulator (I did some research before they came). They left and said that I would hear back in the morning. No call in the morning. I called the repair company and they said they were just about to call Fidelity. Five minutes later, I got a call from Fidelity saying that they weren't going to fix the heater because a piece was missing - EVEN THOUGH IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH WHY THE HEATER WAS NOT WORKING! The woman on the phone said, "Read the fine print - if there is anything missing, the repair will not be done." I told her that was the equivalent of an eye doctor saying, I can't fix your vision because you have a hole in your shoe." She said, those are the rules and hung up on me. Almost every review of Fidelity National Home Warranty says they will try to get out of doing any repair. They collect millions of dollars from home sellers and the buyers think they are getting some peace of mind and the only thing they get is a loss of $500 that could have been credited to the buyer rather than given the bogus policy. This is a pervasive, rampant scam and it should be exposed and stopped.

I have been a customer of Fidelity Nat'l Home Warranty for more than 15 years and purchase 2 policies annually -- mine and my parents homes. Two weekends ago, my kitchen plumbing stopped/backed up. Called the Fidelity service representative requesting a plumber and they couldn't find anyone. After several rounds of questions with the representative, he finally recommended I call around and find one that could come out during the weekend. Located a local plumber. He arrived in about 1.5 hours. Called Fidelity to get an authorization for payment. Agent spoke with service man and told me they couldn't reimburse me due to the way my pipes had been installed. ??? Did I mention, I have been living in my home for more than 15 years and a customer of Fidelity the entire time? The level of service this company offers has deteriorated over the years, to the point, I will be using a new provider. Strongly recommend finding another service, waste of your money and time to use Fidelity Nat'l Home Warranty.

Our furnace went out on Christmas eve, call our home warranty (Fidelity National) 12/25 and on 12/26, Fidel Herrera from Appliance Clinic came out, diagnosed the problem, had to return to shop to get the required part, returned, repaired and we are back to normal. Having no experience with home warranty I had high hopes. I should have read these reviews before being persuaded into accepting this company as home warranty provider. I was able to bundle two issues into one service call, that I am thankful for. The outstanding issue is that the stove top vent button is broken. The problem is that the replacement part in no longer made, so the only option is to drill a bigger hole where the existing button is and put the new button there, which by the way will not match the rest of the stove. I get a call about two weeks ago that they are looking into this call and will call me back within 3 days, no call back. I call today and am told that I was offered either the repair or $20 cash option. This was never offered to me, not that I like either option anyways. As of right now I am waiting a call back from the manager who made this decision. I have to say that the Sears technician was great, but Fidelity as a whole and in my experience thus far is a D.

Tried to use their website to schedule a service call but my brand of garbage disposal was not listed and I could not proceed. Called the number on the form and it went to an advertisement for a casino cruise. Called the customer service hotline and the representative scheduled the service call immediately. Dave's Plumber called the next day and scheduled for the following day. The technician came on time but we did not hear the door bell (I believed he pressed the wrong button (intercom) which was not working. Upon seeing the voice message, I called back and had to reschedule for the next day. Fortunately the technician was able to come by the same day after his next job. Did a good job and we're all good now.

If you're buying an older house, your agent will probably try to set your mind at ease by playing bad cop in the negotiations, insisting that the seller purchase some kind of home warranty service on your behalf so that all the horrible things that are going to go wrong will be paid for by someone other than you. This is just a scam the seller will play along with to keep you from suing them for failing to disclose the fact that they paid some dudes from the Home Depot parking lot to glue floor tiles to recycled drywall in the bathroom or some other such nonsense just to sell the house. Fidelity was my title company, so Fidelity was the warranty company my agent recommended. Competent service providers do not want to work with Fidelity, and so they have very few places to send you to for problems that occur. In many cases, they have exactly ONE provider that can tolerate them for any given trade, and if they don't show up--or what's more common, if they show up, do absolutely nothing and leave with your $60 service call check in hand--you've got nowhere else to go. If you call Fidelity to complain, you just get some smarmy kid who has no clue in the world what he's doing pretending to listen to you until you finally hang up and leave him alone. No one will ever follow up with you about anything, ever, unless it's a service call bill you didn't pay because one of their helpful representatives actually told you to wait until they send you a past-due notice. They follow up on that pretty darn quickly. The home warranty racket is an absolute joke and Fidelity is no exception. Their service partners represent the absolute bottom of the barrel in every industry and you should not under any circumstances allow any of them to touch anything in your home that you care about. In the extremely rare cases where they might actually decide to replace something for you, you're going to get a thoroughly unqualified person throwing some off-brand garbage in that you won't want in the first place, and then you'll be stuck paying a competent contractor to undo all the damage they caused on top of that $60 you thought sounded like such a great deal. Avoid at all costs, and don't believe a word any real estate professional says.

I am not happy with their service. They refused the air conditioning repair and they also refused the refrigerator over a holiday weekend in the past as well separate to the air conditioner. Description of Work: A company came out to do the air conditioning repair and the home warranty company did not authorize it. They have fixed other items in the past. The supervisor, Penny, stated to call her cell phone any time, but she doesn't remember from one day to another what we talked about and a week passed without my receiving any call regarding the difficulties I incurred with their professionals so I called and again she didn't recall the difficulties I had. She said she would check back at her notes, but another 2 days have passed. Fidelity sent out an inebriated plumber who they stated was their number 2 plumber but come to find out that plumber had not been called by Fidelity for over 4 months, they sent out an electrician who did not complete the job stating on a home warranty he could only stay 1 hr that he could return but they now want $160 which should have been done on the initial call and the appliance repair service person also did not repair the clothes washer as it does not fill to the top of the basket and makes noise. Each time a repair is called in it costs me $60 and almost each time the problem has not been fixed.
Description of Work: This is a home warranty company who is suppose to provide licensed, expert, professionals to correct problems related to the home warranty, however, they are unresponsive even their supervisors and managers.

did not go well. they are not good. I waste it the money with them. Never use them again.
Description of Work: I was told it is good warranty company, I did buy the warranty in january 2013. My AC has problem starting, I called them and they send me a AC repair person, I wasnot at home, my friend was at home. The repair AC guy spend 10 minutes and saying this is not covered, AC is dirty and heater and AC is not working with 3 other issues that will cost around 2000 dollar. I called an AC repair man and he clean up the 2 AC units with hose and change thermostat, AC works fine. The AC repair man from fiedility was dishonest man, he did not do anything. I will never use them again. I called customer service and managers and I did not go anywhere. They told me I have to fix the AC before they can come again for any repair. They are dishonest and not good.
