They did very good. They were thorough. It took a long time and more inspections than I'd ever dreamed of. It went up to 6 months. There are so many laws out there now.

Great, Great team, very professional, not an issue with city inspector as well as SDGE inspector when they asked me who did the job just by mentioning Sherlock they would replied, as always those guys are good.

Paid over $300.00 for nothing. The unit was pumping out hot air great, and a steady stream of ice cold condensate indicated to me that the heat pump must be working. Yet when put on the cold cycle no cold air got into the house. The repairman topped off the gas charge ($300.00), then said an additional $1,900.00 would be necessary to replace the expansion valve and reversing valve. A quick trip to Youtube showed me how to check the reversing valve using neodymium magnets, it was OK. I called an independent repairman, he found the deicing heat strip was staying on during the cold cycle, fixed it for a few dollars and the system now works fine!

I have used Sherlock to service my furnace. When my thermostat was not working I called them and they fit me in to the schedule right away. I was very pleased with how quickly they responded and took care of the problem for me. Very professional.

From my first telephone contact to the final city inspection, every aspect of this project was handled politely, professionally and with extreme concern for efficiency and my convenience. Absolutely perfect! From the initial contact with the company, they were clear about how they would proceed, kept us informed regarding each step in the repair process from when the repair person would arrive to what was wrong with our a/c to alternatives for the fix. Our repair person, Jared, was personable, polite, and very informative about each step of the repair process. In a situation where it would have been easy for a company to recommend a complete replacement for an old a/c unit, Jared, in compliance with his company's policy, explained in understandable detail what was wrong with our a/c unit, described options for fixing the unit along with associated costs and recommended the best alternative for fixing the unit. Our repair, which occurred on a Saturday, was completed quickly at a reasonable cost. From our perspective, this company performed exactly as we wish other companies would - their obvious interest in professional expertise, customer service, fairness and ethical business practices will have us recommending Sherlock Heating and Air Conditioning to anyone who could benefit from the company's services.

The entire experience was positive from start to finish beginning with the person who scheduled my appt. She was so nice! Fred called me on the day of my appt and arrived on time. He was professional, knowledgeable and had my AC up and running in no time. w My 20-year-old air conditioner failed to turn on about 2 weeks before I got a helpful response from Sherlock, who I finally contacted on 8/25 after finding them on Angie's List. I was not finding any ac assistance, and me and my 2 Siamese were living open doors and windows and with floor and ceiling fans. It was very hot. One AC servicer I tried to engage on Angie's list got back to me with a short but sweet call that said they stopped servicing my area. After that, I went back on Angie's List and searched again. I sent several inquiries to servicers in my area, but only one returned my inquiry: Sherlock. Once I made contact with their Dispatcher, Benita Markland, all began to smooth out. Within a day, she told me she could put me on their schedule the following Monday. I understood that, because of the heat, it was very busy. She was extremely caring and helpful and very reassuring. I was lucky to have found her and them. Since the ac was 20 years old, I was not sure it should or could be fixed. Benita assured me that the serviceman, Fred Radtke, could do a thorough diagnosis and tell me whether it should be fixed or not. That he did!! He and Dwayne were fabulous! They very carefully explained how the different systems in my house interacted with each other, so I could have a better idea where failures might occur in a system the age of mine. I was so surprised when they told me it could be fixed -- and they could fix it right then and there! They were speedy and careful, and I felt very comfortable having them attend to what needed to be done. They showed they were very trustworthy, and kept their word about everything they said they would do. My system runs quieter now than it has in quite a few years. Even the outside compressor is quieter than it has ever been. I cannot thank Benita, Fred, and Dwayne enough -- and my cats think they are the "cats' meow"! I highly recommend Sherlock Heating and Air.

Dispatcher called today to change an appointment from Saturday to today (Thursday) to get us back up and running sooner. Who does that?? Technician Fred, who has been here before for another unit, was once again outstanding. This is an A+ organization that I will not only continue to use but will also recommend as often as possible. Great! Everyone involved in this project was helpful and kind. This "situation" was caused by another contractor and Sherlock was hired to fix the mess after all efforts to get the other contractor to take responsibility failed. The Sherlock folks listened carefully and we discussed different options, the job was scheduled and everything went off without a hitch. The guys were fantastic and patient as I took photographs and asked a million questions. They were very empathetic to the situation and I can't say enough about the whole Sherlock team from the front office to the manager's office and all the techs - great bunch of honest people that really care about their customers! They take genuine pride in their work. Now we have a system that is up to code, free from soot, and performs like a dream. If only I could find more contractors with their ethical standards. I was impressed with this company from the first phone call. My air conditioner started to drip late one night and I called several companies the next morning. All were booked out for a week, but when I called Sherlock they were able to see me the next afternoon. The receptionist was friendly - very funny in fact - and she got me help asap. Fred arrived the next day at the beginning of the time window and got right to work. He did an excellent job - efficient and polite, and he made sure he cleaned up afterward. I will use this company if I ever decide to replace my air conditioner and I will absolutely tell my friends about them. Great job!

After living in our home through two summers we decided to add air conditioning. My husband researched both brands and installers and we settled on Lennox as the brand and Sherlock as the installer. Our salesperson, Marc, was thorough and professional. He inspected our home, listened to our buying criteria and configured a a highly rated, energy efficient AC to add into our existing system. After some additional conversation he presented alternatives that included the replacement of our builder installed heating units. Taking a look at options was very easy as our Sherlock rep was equipped with a wireless laptop and tools that let us evaluate the features and price points of various solutions. We never felt we were being upsold nor talked into anything. In the end, Sherlock replaced our single-stage heating units with two-stage units and installed two, three-ton, two-stage air conditioners. The two-stage system does a great job maintaining a consistent temperature and since it generally only runs at 60% it is quiet and very energy efficient. The installation team was top notch. Tina, who handled the scheduling was a pleasure, and Billy, Joe and Greg clearly knew what they were doing and took a good deal of pride in their work. They were punctual, laid tarps down to protect our flooring and were careful not to leave a door open as a temptation to our pets. They were really good in communicating what they were doing every step of the way and asked for our input whenever there was a decision to be made. They left everything tidy and ship shape and Billy even asked for some touch up paint for the walls as the new controllers were a little different in shape than the ones they replaced. Clearly heating and air conditioning is a major expense and we knew going in that Lennox would never be the lowest cost choice but we think the system quality, consistent comfort and energy efficiency will be worth the investment. I am not sure what other brands they carry but my husband and I both felt very good about giving our business to Sherlock and we highly recommend them.

The service technician came to my home and did a thorough inspection of the furnace and a/c compressor. He was knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions. Overall the experience went well.

Arrived on time, did a great job, checked back w/ us in a few days to see if we had any questions.

It was not cheap. I found them quite practical in what they were suggesting and quite reasonable in their cost.

It was fine. Scheduling was very easy and they came out quickly. The technician was professional. It was a good experience and I got exactly what I was looking for.

My heating broke the week of Christmas. Sherlock was able to fit me into their schedule a week earlier than their competitors. They gave a 2-hour window and sent an email confirmation of my upcoming appointment. I had an 8am appointment and slept through my alarm when Matt came to my house. Everyone I talked to in the company was so helpful and Matt came right back over even though it was my fault I missed the appointment. During the appointment, Matt diagnosed my issue and fixed it on the spot. He had additional recommendations for efficiency and for structural safety; perfect balance of educating me on options but giving no pressure to spend additional money. Great Service and diagnostic price was the cheapest I found when searching online. Would highly recommend and they are now my go-to HVAC company.

To start off, my requirements were somewhat unique due to the need to primarily dehumidify my house. Sherlock Heating and Air Conditioning from the beginning provided a very professional quote process and worked through various combinations of potential packages that would make sense for me. They were willing to work with a very practical approach of what I needed, my budget, and a variety of options. My primary criteria was installation of a whole house dehumidifier or a system that would reduce overall moisture in the house. (AC, Heatpump, a combination - whatever worked). My wife has severe dust mite allergies and where I live, the relative humidity is in the 55-60% range (coastal). Need to keep it below 50%. Other providers weren't bad in their quote process, but it seemed Sherlock went the extra mile to work with me on a need to have, should have, nice to have approach very proactively. The job wasn't a big one, but they still provided the service and response, regardless of the quote amount. Various payment options were also presented including the HERO program. I chose to pay for the system out of pocket rather than take the HERO program loan, but it was good to see the information in front of me. Ultimately we settled on replacing my 36 year old furnace (which worked fine) but was terribly inefficient, coupled with a whole house dehumidifier, and new insulated and efficient ducting.The work qualified for the $1000 energy credit as well. The job took three days to complete. Would have been finished in two, however, I had made a request to use a higher capacity dehumidifier (a bit overkill for my house), since I wanted to ensure maximum volume of air got dehumidified without addition of too much extra heat. As a result of the back/forth discussions, their supplier didn't have the right parts/instructions for the dehumidifier unit I wanted. The furnace and ducts were up and running after the first two days, and the team came back to fit the dehumidifier on a third day scheduled later. Before the crew showed up, we would get a phone call from the operations manager who provided an arrival estimate (quite accurately). The crew was extremely courteous, professional, and cleaned the house and work areas well. I wasn't quoted an extra cost for the higher capacity dehumidifier nor any creative solutions the crew had to adapt to ensure the new system worked well. This ranged from addition of an extra electrical outlet, suspending the dehumidifier in the garage, water line for the drainage the right (but long way). They didn't shy away from doing it right, as opposed to the easy way out. The new system is working great and in the future, should I want to add on an AC or Heat Pump, I'll be able to do so.

This is a most professional and reliable company. From 3 bids received, we found Sherlock to be the most competitive with the highest quality (2.5 ton / SEER 17); and fastest for delivery and installation. Sales and Estimator (Eric) was punctual for meeting at the house. He walked us through four different systems, which all met our requirements. He helped arrange financing, and worked with our schedule: needed installed within one week. The crew of four (Paul Roseen - Lead; Greg Goulding; Joe Calderon; Billy Martinez) were on time for early morning October 1st, with 3 days estimated to do the entire new system. They actually finished and had the AC running at the end of Day 2, and only needed the morning of the 3rd day to complete minor details. Workmanship was the highest quality. Everything was run neat; clean; square; and plumb. (I know; I am a former General Contractor from the State of Florida). Each morning, the crew started by protecting all of our hard wood flooring. At the end of each day, they cleaned up everything, including the work space in the garage. The crew (Paul; Greg; Joe; Billy) were very polite; professional; courteous; and always asked about where we wanted certain items placed before installing. All of the cut - outs (total of 7) in the ceilings were perfect, with no damage to the existing drywall and painting. All lines in the garage ceiling were run tight and neat. The outside condenser unit, pad; tubing; and electrical were installed tight and neat. Everything was per code. Upon completion of the job, we were walked through the entire installation, including how all drains and vents worked; filter changeout; thermostat functions; wifi; etc. Was very impressed with the work platform built in the attic to get to the filter; did not even know that was included in the bid. I highly recommend this company, and in particular, this crew. Paul, Greg, Joe, and Billy are who make Sherlock Heating and Air-Conditioning the company of choice. My experience was fine. Their scheduling was not great, it took a while for them to get me in. However, they did arrive on time for the appointment. There was one technician doing the inspection and he was not here very long.

I used a special discount and they were prompt and professional.

Very nice, caring lady, Benita, on phone to make original appointment of 2-hour window for rep to come on Friday to see what the trouble was. $59 service call instead of $69 due to Angie's List discount (thank you) to be absorbed into work done, if any. Benita called, as she had said she would, to confirm window of 12:00-2:00 pm, and let me know that earlier apmts had taken longer than planned so would probably be at the latter part of the window, and that she would call me when the first available rep was actually dispatched so I could stay at work until absolutely necessary. As it happened, reps had to spend a lot of extra time at their other apmts (this is a REALLY hot day and Friday-before-labor-day-traffic) and Caleb actually arrived at ~4:10. However, Benita had kept me up-to-date, even to staying a little after her end-of-day to let me know that Caleb would be here within minutes and that, although she was leaving, Jennifer at the office would be available to me. Really, I do understand reps never know what they'll encounter at apmts, timewise. Judging by the efficiency shown here, I doubt any time was wasted. Because of their excellent communication, I still gave a grade of A for punctuality. Caleb arrived ... happy, cheerful, professional, intelligent, efficient. Put on the little paper footlets to protect the floors (always a nice touch). Excellent direct, efficient communicator. HE KNOWS HIS BUSINESS! Evaluated, asked pertinent questions, moved quickly, explained situation, how much it would cost, that he might find more necessary to do which might cost more, and also that if what he had determined did not result in fixing the problem, I would not be charged the full estimated amount. I said GO....he did it....showed me the parts (some had melted!!!), explained that the condenser didn't need to be replaced, just those parts. Answered all my questions. Interesting: all those hundreds or thousands of fins that form the outside surface of the condenser are extremely pliable, and that horrible damaged look was caused by things (probably including trash cans) bumping against it as they were dragged past. Just makes it less efficient, doesn't break it. (I looked around to the area facing the wall of the house...yep, no damage!) Replaced the air filter upstairs. Waited to make sure it was cooling. Was down to 82 degrees (inside the house) when he left, now 79 yay! going in the right direction! Called Jennifer to tell her GREAT experience, and had also communicated with her while Benita was at lunch. Quite nice, perceptive, efficient in her communications. While Caleb was finishing up, my son asked me, after hearing of my experience (texting) if Caleb could go now to see about the A/C at his house. Of course, too late for today, but my son will call to make apmt for next week. I absolutely recommend this company. Thanks!!!

OUTSTANDING!!!! I was able to call and obtain a same day appointment!!! Very polite service rep and they called when the tech was enroute. Caleb W. was the service rep who made the call. Superior representative of Sherlock Heating and Cooling. Answered all of my questions and explained his actions step by step. I followed him through his check up and diagnosis. Gave me his honset evaluation of my 20+ year old system and offered courses of action with new systems. Caleb is extremely knowledgeable and extremely efficient. I will definitely purchase my new HVAC system in the fall from Sherlock Heating and Cooling!!!!
