Nick's team was awesome. Great communication as to work days and scheduled times and like clockwork they always arrived when promised. Professional, thoughtful and meticulous. There were a lot of steps from removal, disposal, receiving of new material, etc. where things could have gone poorly, but all worked out great because of the care and attention the job received. I'm very happy with the results and would use Nick and Dragon Roofing again. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: We have a flat roof row house with 1000 square foot of roof deck. I was looking to have the asphalt roll roofing replaced as an underlayment to the top-coat of elastomeric coating material for the deck. The job would require removal and disposal of the existing material down to bare plywood underlayment, the application of new felt and 'torch' material to create a sealed flat roof. It would also require careful work around existing flashing so as to not create stucco damage. Access to the roof would also be tricky.

Nick and his team did a great job! His team did quality work, showed up on time, did a great clean up at the end of each day and Nick was very clear and proactive when we ran into unexpected additional work. I would definitely hire him again and recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: We had an addition that was taken down which damaged the roof and roof line. I found Nick and Dragon Roofing on Angie's List and he had a strong rating. When I asked for references, every person said the same thing about his good communication, responsiveness, quality and fair price.

It was GREAT. Everything was thoroughly explained be for any work was started. I was kept informed of daily progress each day. I was extremely pleased with whole process and especially the end result. I would recommend him to anyone that needs any roof work done.
Description of Work: Retooled the whole roof with double layer of felt. Installed Solar powered attic vents. Also replaced termite damaged wood. When replacing roof tales, they were properly placed for better dainage when it rains.

Nick from Dragon's Roofing came and took digital photos of all of the problem areas on my roof. What I really like about Nick is that he shows me each picture, explains to me what caused the damage and why it needs to be repaired, how it was done incorrectly to begin with, how it should really be done and what time and materials he will need to do it right. As a homeowner, I feel more confident when these things are explained to me so that I can do my own research and understand the true issue, as opposed to a contractor just telling me "it will cost $XXXX to fix everything", or just wanting to re-do the entire thing. The first time Nick repaired my roof back in 2012, he literally came by the day after a big storm and was just going around the neighborhood visually checking rooftops for distress. When he came to my door, it was like a miracle- I had just called several other roofing companies and requested a quote to repair a leak over my fireplace. Two of the companies I called did not want to come out for a free quote if it was just for one little leak. Another company told me, sight unseen, that it would cost at least $1,000 in materials plus the labor. Nick got right up on my roof with his digital camera and showed me exactly where and why my roof was leaking. There was an area of flashing around my chimney that had rusted and deteriorated and it was not directing the water to run off the roof. Instead, water was collecting at the chimney joint, causing it to seep into the paper and the plywood through to my ceiling. He also found a couple of other nearby leaks that I had not yet noticed. He left me his business card (with his license #) and gave me a quote far below the others, then came back and had it done two days later. It has not leaked since. While he was doing that repair, he also advised me of some other troubled areas on the roof where he felt I may have future leaks. He suggested that at one of the roof's valleys, below the ridge vent, there should have been cuts made in the tiles originally to allow a v-shaped gutter for the water to run off- basically a flaw in the original homebuilder's roofing technique. He also showed me that some of my neighbors had it done and others didn't. The additional cost would have only been another $800, but since it wasn't leaking yet, I didn't approve the additional repair. Boy was that a mistake! Within 2 years, that area of my roof began to slowly leak into my garage, this past year increasing to the point of severe wood and trim damage. Needless to say it cost a lot more to fix it now than it would have back in 2012 if I had listened to Nick. For my recent repair, Nick spent a good amount of time inspecting my roof, inside and out, as well as looking for any rotted wood that may need to be replaced around the trim. He noted there were even some areas where someone had put concrete around some vents coming instead of using the proper technique. Nick then took a couple of days to come up with two different quotes for me, which he explained in detail and then allowed me to choose one of the options. The first option was just to "repair" the roof- replace broken tiles, missing flashing, repair the damage from the leaks, make the "v" cuts to created the valley below the ridge vent and basically get the roof to stop leaking and look okay for future inspections. The second option, as he described, was to "do it right", meaning that everything he saw up there that was originally done incorrectly he would re-do so that it was to standard code and good workmanship- thus preventing future leaks or wild animals doing damage by getting in. Basically, making the roof better than new without needing to completely replace it. I chose the second option because his estimate was so reasonable that I would rather have it done right. During the repair (which took about 2 days), Nick was quiet, clean, respectful of me and of my neighbors- you would never have known he was there (except for the occasional sound of his saw cutting some roof tiles.) He discovered some additional areas of concern- an old pipe leak about my kitchen where the paper was no longer in good condition and water could get in, and also some additional areas with termite damage or wood rot. Again, he took pictures and showed me what he found and gave me the option to just cover it back up, or to do it right and add it to the estimate as a change order. I chose to have it done correctly. At the end of the project, the final price was still less that my other quotes (although I had already decided to use Dragon's Roofing due to Nick's professionalism and skillfulness,) and the roof and trim all look perfect and ready for inspections once I sell the house. Since I have worked for several contractors over the years (I do bookkeeping and payroll for a living), I have quite a bit of knowledge about construction law and the standards of the contractors state licensing board. I have even been involved with litigation cases against builders for construction defects and prepared expert witness reports for the CSLB here in California. I can attest that Nick Mondragon of Dragon's Roofing is a legitimate and very professional person, he only collects the legal deposit to start the work, he is licensed, bonded and insured, and, on top of it, he is a complete pleasure to work with. In the past few years, I have also recommended Nick to neighbors and even a client of mine, and those who have hired Dragon's Roofing have told me they were completely satisfied with their experience.
Description of Work: Nick from Dragon's Roofing had fixed a roof leak for me back in 2012 and had recommended to me that I have some additional work done to prevent future leaks. I didn't listen and had more leaks in my garage this last spring. I am also getting my home ready to list for sale, so I called and asked Nick at Dragon's Roofing to come back and do the preventative maintenance and anything else that he saw that needed repair- in order to prepare for a home inspection upon the sale of the house. He did about $3000 worth of repairs and maintenance to the roof of my single story home (built in 1988 with the original roof.)
