He was very good about telling me which days he'd work and when he'd arrive, and he finished the project in the time frame he'd promised. Nosy neighbors (you know the type - the guys who claim to and quot;knowand quot; construction) saw the project midstream and were very impressed with the quality of the work. I was so happy with Russell and the work he did that I immediately hired him again for another project in the house. I recommend him without reservation.

+ -1 moreRussell Brown returned my call within several hours of my leaving a message. He was polite and business like. When he came by to give me an estimate, he was very open about how he would need to charge "time and materials", since it wasn't a real straight forward type of job. Russell was also very friendly with my dogs, and very careful to always close doors/gates so that they didn't escape.
Description of Work: I had termite damage that need to be repaired after tenting. Russell did a great job of finding all the areas that needed repair. He then fixed them all.

+ 0 moreRussell is an excellent contractor. His carpentry skills are great and his personality matches. He was always on time and is very courteous. The installation went smoothly and he was very aware of the necessity of keeping the job site clean and orderly. The cabinets were installed and look great. I have seen other examples of his remodeling skills from whole kitchens, bathrooms, decks and room additions. The estimate he gave prior to doing the work was right on - no surprises. I believe Russell to be honest and will give a fair estimate for any job he takes on.
Description of Work: I recently remodeled my kitchen with a total gut remodel. Russell did an excellent job with the installation of the cabinets. I could tell that he has plenty of experience and knows what he is doing. The old cabinets were removed as part of the total demo of the kitchen and brand new cabinets were installed. Solid carpentry skills were needed to modify the cabinets to fit the space.

+ -1 moreThey were very professional and I had an excellent experience with them. It was a younger guy who started contracting from back east. He was a nice guy and was a lone soldier. It's perfect if you're doing a bathroom or something small with different skills. If you're doing a bigger project, that may not be such a great thing.

+ 2 moreRussell's work is excellent. I would recommend him in a second. The work was completed in a timely manner as promised and the quality is superb. We had an ancient, leaky roof, and the new roof looks great and has weathered many storms wonderfully. Russell left no mess at the end of each day, so it didn't feel like we were living at a project site. Bottom line, he does great, honest work of high quality. He also created plans for us for a roof deck that we one day hope to build. If and when we do, we will certainly ask him to build it.
Description of Work: Removed old (~50 year) tar and gravel roof and scraped clean for installation of new wood base upon which he installed a new asphalt shingle roof. Removed all waste from site. Russell also designed a roof-top deck for future installation.

Description of Work: We had a beautiful cabinet/locker made by Russell. He came over to see the space, took measurements, asked about style, drew the piece for us, and then sent a full estimate that ended up being 100% accurate. The locker was delivered earlier than estimated and is in great condition. It takes a lot of abuse from us and it is holding up great. Russell also left some saw dust for us to fill any holes that we find, but we have not needed to do anything to the piece.

Description of Work: Our very old kitchen needed a remodel and upgrade, but we didn't want to change its footprint. Russell was the 3rd contractor we interviewed and he was immediately interested in how he could save us money! He recommended we use semi-custom cabinets, which he helped us purchase through Home Depot. He was terrific about helping us select the kinds of cabinets and features that could fit our kitchen and was very creative especially in designing a novel mount for our little kitchen tv so that it's out of the way. Russell finished the demo work promptly and was great about cleaning up. I was recovering from knee surgery during this phase, and it went very smoothly. Almost all the delays we experienced were because of other factors: the granite fabrication, for example. We only needed to nag a bit when it came to some of the fine finishing details. We now have new, wonderful cabinets, all new stainless steel appliances, a glass backsplash, great granite countertops...all accomplished within our budget and with virtually no stress.

+ 6 moreThe project went very smoothly, and I was most pleased that in addition to the meticulous quality of work, I got plenty of advice about new appliances, cabinets, and sinks and where to get the best deals (because I insisted on buying them myself, at wholesale cost wherever possible). The contractor dealt with me in a straightforward, patient manner and stuck to the budget and deadlines faithfully. When some of the demolition revealed an old water leak and rotted corner of the kitchen floor, Russell replaced that area of the subfloor at no extra cost-- amazing! I would definitely use him for my next project, or maybe even an addition on the house.
Description of Work: This remodel job allowed me to update my kitchen and bath for less money than I expected to pay. I chose this contractor because he was the most responsive and dependable one that I interviewed, and local examples of his work showed excellent craftsmanship.
