Description of Work: Franco arrived on the time agreed upon for an on-site estimate. He provided the cost of labor(I purchased the materials) within 3 days. He informed that he had a trip planned prior to the estimate. I had ordered cabinets, so the time frame worked. |Franco arrived ready to work on the date/time he said he would prior to his trip. |He did a great job of remodeling three bathrooms. He removed all debris half way through the work and again when work was completed. |We plan to have Franco back for more projects. |I would highly recommend him for his workmanship/craftsmanship/professionalism.

Description of Work: Franco replaced sections of our wood siding. We recently had windows replaced, and the siding around the windows was removed in the process. Other contractors wanted to replace all the siding, but Franco suggested replacing just the affected sections, which was much more affordable. He communicated well, did a good job and was great to work with. We are looking forward to working with him again.

Description of Work: We recently remodeled our family room and fireplace, and needed to tile the fireplace wall and hearth as a finishing element. We used a travertine stacked stone, which a couple tile contractors told us was difficult and required a person with natural stone (not just tile) experience (especially because we needed to wrap the stone around the surround). We talked with 4 contractors, and Franco was the most responsive, most personable, and most patient of them all. We hired him over a natural stone specialist because of his demeanor. He did a great job, in just one day, and we love it. He also saw that we had some carpet that needed trimming and tacking down and offered to do it for us. He is very conscientious and takes pride in his work. We highly recommend him!

Description of Work: Franco installed a bathroom faucet that I provided. Also, there was a laundry door that wasn't hanging/shutting properly that had to be glued first in order to be repaired. He offered to do this for my husband at NO CHARGE because my husband didn't quite know the best way to glue the door. Franco is a true professional and he charges very, very fair prices.

Description of Work: Hang large wall pictures (15); Install ceiling fans & light kits (3); Repair exterior garden gate lock. Franco Iacobelli was very personable, flexible, honored his work scope estimate, and did very good work with least household disruption. Interfaced well with the lady of the house. Service was a bit expensive, however "you get what you pay for". Very happy with AtoZ Handyman service. Will definitely hire Franco again and would recommend him to anyone else.

Description of Work: Franco was professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and productive. And he did quality work. I just moved into my house and had a long list of repairs. Franco came out, assessed the work, made a list of supplies, came back a week later to do the work, and got it all done in a day. He was responsive by phone and email. I am very satisfied and would not hesitate to call him again.

Description of Work: Terribly, one of the worst experiences ever. When I purchased the Big Deal I had read most of the reviews of the company that I chose to do the job I needed to be done, and was impressed with the grades and what I had read about them. I was given the contact information for Mr. Franco Lacobelli of A to Z Plastering and Handyman. When I spoke with him on the phone for the first time, I told him what needed to be done and he assured me that he could do the job in the time period allowed. He told me that he had other jobs pending already and that he would call me back to set up a date and time for him to do the job. When he called me back and told me that he wanted to do the job the very next day, I was taken back a bit, so I asked him if he wasn't supposed to at least come to take a look at what needed to be done, and let me know what other materials I was going to need before he came to do the job so time wouldn't be wasted. I told him I knew I wanted the top part of a fence painted and some other places inside painted or touched up and that I had already purchased the paint, paint handle and rollers, brushes, paint pan, etc. needed to do that part of the job, and I already had the floor tiles I needed to replace some worn out tiles, but I also knew that I needed other materials as well. He said "I want to get started as soon as I get there, do you have the paint so that I can get started right away on the fence?" I was puzzled since I had had just told him that but I said "Yes, but what about the other materials that I know you're going to need." He then said, "Oh don't worry about that, we can get that later, as long as I can get started when I get there." Then he asked if there was a Home Depot near where I live and I said "Yes." When he came, I showed him everything that needed to be done and asked if he was sure he could get it all done in the eight hour period. He said "Oh yeah, yeah, no problem, it's not that much to do, I can get it all done, don't worry, I will get it all done today." I was very pleased to hear that. I then asked him to tell me what other materials I needed. I knew I needed to buy a new sink for one of my bathrooms because I wanted to change it out, and I also knew I might have to purchase a new faucet for my kitchen because it was leaking around the base. He told me that I needed to purchase a whole new faucet set for my kitchen. Then in my bathroom he measured the inside of the sink from side to side and he measured from the faucet to the front of the sink. He gave me those measurements and told me that was the size sink I needed to purchase. There were also a few other things that he told me that I needed to purchase as well. He tried to extort more money from me from the very beginning when he got ready to paint the fence. The top parts of the fence that I wanted to be painted is about 35 inches tall and wood and the bottom of the fence is about 42 inches tall and brick. I only wanted the top part of the fence painted. He said "Do you have plastic for me to use because when I'm painting the wood the paint will run down on the brick ... and if I have to get the plastic, I will have to charge you more money?" I was again taken back a bit when he said that because in reading reviews about him, I knew that he provided some of his own material, had done painting before and that painters carry their own drop cloths. When I told him that I had plenty of plastic around my house that he could use and I had tarp as well, he just stood there for a few seconds as if in shock. I guess at that point he realized he wasn't going to get any more money from me. The next thing I knew and to my surprise and dismay he went to his truck and got his own drop cloth. He saw that there were cardboard boxes on my patio and asked if he could use one of them. I told him "Yes." He laid down the drop cloth, tore off a flap on one of the boxes and used the flap to hold under the top part of the fence between the wood and the brick while he painted the bottom part of the wood. I went back inside and left him to do the painting. However, when I looked out from time to time I noticed that he was going very, very slowly and wasn't making a lot of progress. But I felt he knew what he was doing. A short while later while he was painting, I went to Home Depot to pick up the items he told me I needed. To make a long story short, I found out from some of the associates at Home Depot that some of the items Franco told me to get didn't exist, and another associate at the store told me that the measurements Franco had given me for the bathroom sink didn't exist either. The associate asked me if I knew how Franco had measured for the sink and I told him. The associate then told me that he had never heard of anyone measuring for a bathroom sink that way, and the measurements that Franco had given me were measurements that Home Depot or any other store that he knew of had ever had and never will have. He said that was because they don't measure for sinks that way and the measurements Franco had given me were bogus measurements. I called Franco while I was at Home Depot and told him what the associates had told me about the sink and the other items that he had told me to purchase but seemed to not exist. He told me not to worry about it because we could get it later. I asked the associate what was the correct way to measure for the sink and he told me. So, after having to shop around a while in Home Depot for items that didn't even exist, I left Home Depot without being able to purchase the items Franco told me I needed because he had given me bogus information. At that point I felt really uneasy because it seemed to me that Franco didn't know what he was doing. Although when I had originally purchased the paint for the fence one of the associates at home depot told me how much I would need by the measurements I gave him, at the rate Franco was going and from what I was seeing of what he had painted so far and the way it looked, (some spots looking like they might need another coat of paint), I felt he might need more paint for the fence. So I purchased more paint just in case, and to have some left over to do touch up later if needed. Apparently while I was gone Franco had stopped painting, because when I drove up, he didn't see me at first but I saw him. When he finally looked around and saw me come around the corner of my house he got up and start painting again. He was still painting in the exact same area that he was in when I had left, then he continued to move around and paint in other areas. My husband came home a short time after that and Franco seemed a little uneasy when my husband showed up. My husband went to speak to him and told him that he what doing a good job. To my surprise, very shortly after that, Franco came around to my patio and told me that he was leaving and said "Well, I'm not going to be able to finish this today." I then asked him if he was coming back the next day to finish the job. He said "No, I have other jobs to do, but I know somebody who can come and finish it for you but it's going to cost you more money, maybe about another $240 to $250 dollars. I was more than shocked when he said that. I then said "What? Wait a minute. I've already paid to have all of this work done and when you got here and I showed you everything that needed to be done, you told me that you could get it done and get it all done today. Now you're telling me that I'm supposed to have to pay somebody else to finish doing a job that I've already paid to have done?" He then said "There's no way I can get all the stuff done you wanted done in today." I then said, that's not what you told me when you first got here and I showed you everything that needed to be done. You told me, no problem, don't worry, you could get it done and you could get it all done today." The patio door was open, my husband was just inside and overheard the conversation. He came outside to see what was going on. He asked me what was the problem and I told him. Then Franco started complaining saying, "They only pay me for 8 hours." My husband asked him "What are you talking about, who only pays you for 8 hours?" Franco said, "Angie's List, they only pay me for 8 hours of work." This had me even more puzzled because he hadn't worked for 8 hours but was in a hurry to leave after my husband got home. I was upset at this point because I had paid to have a job done, had been assured that the job would get done and get done that day, and was now being told that not only was the job not going to get done that day, but that I would also now have to pay somebody else more money to finish a job that I had already paid to have done. My husband was a bit upset too, but said, "Honey, do you have the number to Angie's List?' I said "Yes, I do." He then said "You're getting nowhere here trying to resolve this matter with him. Call the people who hired him, this Angie's List, tell them what happened and that you're not satisfied with the job that was done. Let them know that although you were assured that the job you wanted done was going to get done, and done today, it wasn't done, you didn't get what you paid for and that you want your money back." He then told Franco to go ahead and leave and said "We'll take care of this." That's when I went back inside and called you. The only thing Franco did was paint a fence and didn't even finish that part of the job. He repaired absolutely nothing inside of the house which is where I really needed the work to be done. My husband and I were both upset. After Franco left, my husband said "I never want that man back in this house or on this property again." Therefore, I'm requesting to have my money refunded so that I can hire someone else to finish the job.

Response from A 2 Z Handyman & Home Improvement
First and foremost, there seems to have been quite a bit of a misunderstanding on your part concerning the amount of work that was to be done, and what was said. To elaborate, I never said I'd be able to get all of the work done in the eight hours you bought, even though I worked about nine, from eight to five. The deal was this, and only this. Eight hours of work, any work which I am qualified to do, for $319. This was apparently not clear enough in the coupon which you used, and that is very unfortunate, but this does not include materials which I do not carry with me. I did ask you if you had, or could purchase plastic for the paint job to avoid dripping on the brick, because I did not have that and it is about $50 a roll. Since this was not available, and you were in favor of opting for another option, i got the tarp from my truck, which did the job, but was not designed for that kind of work. Secondly, the amount of work which you requested could never have been completed in eight hours, just ask anyone. I never said I could get it done. Im sorry to say, but that is a blatant lie, or a huge misunderstanding on your part. It seems that much of this is not much more than false hearsay and an attempt at squeezing what I approximate to be three days of work, into eight hours. If you find someone who can get all that done, please send me their number. I'd like to hire him/her. Just the sink alone would have taken hours. I asked what you wanted me to begin on, and you replied with the fence. You saying I was working slowly, or that I was in a rush to leave when your husband was home is nothing more than untrue. I was in a rush to get your job done as much as possible, so I'm sorry if I could not converse for long with your husband, who was a pleasure. The amount of fence was huge, a bit less than 300 feet, and even requesting a double-coat in the time allotted is preposterous. It is very unfortunate that people would resort to lies just to ruin a reputation. I never stopped working when you left, or even for the whole nine hours. I worked diligently and as fast as possible without sacrificing quality, and took no breaks, even for lunch. You did not pay for a completed job, i.e., the fence painting, you paid for hours, and according to the contract, past the eight hours, work must be paid by the hour, which I did not even bring up, even though I worked about nine. Ma'am, I take a great, great deal of pride in my work, and I'd say this is reflected quite clearly in all my other reviews. Unfortunately you were not satisfied, and I believe this was due either to a misunderstanding of the work that was to be done, or unreal expectations.

I was sick for two weeks. I tried to call you several times, and left you multiple phone messages and you responded several days later. I told you that my business was not interior plastering, I do only exterior plastering. I can compromise to do a job that I don't have experience on. I think is better to said the truth. Sorry for the inconvinience.

Description of Work: Franco was hired after my wife and I interviewed 4 other applicants. We were very glad we selected Franco. He completed the work on time and everything was done with an attention to detail. He explained everything to us and even suggested some good ideas that we ended up using. Most of what he did this first time was some necessary painting and repairing of our deck and pergola (both our lower and upper decks). Franco was also a very personable person. Cleaned up everything before leaving. We really liked him and we are extremely pleased with his work. We highly recommend him and plan on utilizing his services again very soon.
