We were given a price of $1100, but were handed a bill $2600.00 when the work was completed, eventually dropping it to $2400.00 after complaints were registered. The workmanship was sloppy, with the mating edges not lining up. A worker came back and trimmed the corners with tin snips, which bent the metal, scratched and scraped up the new metalwork, and looked messy. They should have fabricated new pieces that mated properly, but refused to do so. After the first rain we had leaks where there had been none before. Their representative came by to look things over, and insisted the leak was caused by something else, saying our roof needed to be replaced. I saw that there was a big gap under the edges where the new metal work overlapped the roof, and pointed it out, saying that a little bit of wind could blow rain up under the edge of the new metalwork. In some places the gap was at least 1/2" high. They essentially refused to do anything about it, saying there was no way their work could be leaking, and wanted us to buy a new roof from them. I later went back up and caulked the gaps with neoprene flashing cement, filling the gap up to the edge of the metal to prove or disprove that the rain was getting blown in under the new caps. At the next rain nothing leaked. This took me about 45 minutes and $15 in materials. If they had done this, they would have had a more or less satisfied customer and no complaint registered here. When you hire a company to do this kind of work I feel part of what you are buying is their specialized expertise and extended experience. That didn't seem to be the case with this company. They seemed to just want the money. I feel they did sloppy work, gave a dishonest estimate, would not back up their work, made no attempt to satisfy our legitimate concerns, and tried to sell us something we didn't need. We will never use them again, and cannot recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: They were brought in to fabricate and install stainless steel caps for the parapet wall on our roof.
