I called for a free estimate just before Thanksgiving and a real person answered the phone and we set an appointment. The owner himself (David) came out, went on our roof for an inspection and measured the roof. David was very professional and explained the entire process from start to finish. we had received two other bids and decided to go with Preferred Roofing who as it turned out was our middle bid. The job was scheduled and the crew arrived on time and began removing our old roof. The crew was very hard working and cleaned up at the end of each day. They discovered a little damaged wood, the office contacted us and we had it replaced and we appreciated they took the time to repair this. The whole job was done in 3 days and the crew did an excellent job of clean up. Lastly David came back out and walked the job completely as he said he would. My wife and I have been dreading doing this for sometime, but Preferred Roofing made it easy. Thanks for the great job.

For many years we had other roofers come and due work on our house but none of them gave us a lasting job. Some of our friends suggested we call David Paine at Preferred Roofing and we are so happy we did. We had spend a lot of money with other companies, but this firm gave us a fair price and did an excellent job. The work was done in the time frame they told us and every one was very professional and pleasant to work with. We would recommend them to anyone in need of roof repair. Now, all we need is rain to put it to the real test!

I got an estimate from them that was almost twice as much as the company I ended up using. The salesman was courteous and professional, and my neighbor ended up using them, so i don't doubt that their work is good. i just think the prices was a bit too out there.

They came highly recommended to us by our neighbors. The estimate was fine. They were very professional and nice. They arrived on time and did everything they said they would. If we progress with the job, we will hire them.

David, the owner, gives very clear information when submitting his proposal. The work is done in a timely manner. He keeps us posted on progress and possible adjustments and sticks with the proposed price, unless changes are agreed to ahead of time. They have done work for us before and I would certainly call them again. No high pressure sales methods with them. And, they clean up really well at the end of the job.

Preferred Roofing was very efficient and professional. They did not try to sell me a particular brand of shingles, but did offer some good advice regarding the type of underlayment to be used. I appreciated the fact that none of the work was subcontracted. All of the work from the tear-off to installation was done by their own in-house staff. They also had a foreman on site at all times during the project. I did have quite a bit of fascia board that needed replacing and repair. They recommended that I use a skilled carpenter to perform the fascia work and they coordinated the timing of that work with the start-up of the re-roofing. I also appreciated the fact that they are licensed with the City of Los Angeles Certified Licensed Contractor Program for Re-Roofing. This made the permitting process very efficient as they are authorized to self-permit and self-inspect. David, the owner, was here for the initial estimate and returned on completion to inspect the project. David is very direct and candid in addressing your questions or concerns and I really appreciated that. Steve, the office manager was on top of the project from start to finish, assessing the weather conditions for potential rain to advising of any cost changes as issues arose and timely issuing any change orders. The roofing supplier had some challenges with delivering the roofing material due to the nature of my hillside property, it's height and restricted access and had to send a different type of delivery truck after the initial attempt. Steve called and advised me of this potential delay and what was being done about it. This really didn't delay the project much as they hand-carried enough of the underlayment and shingles to start the project. I liked the fact any time I called the office, Steve knew immediately who I was and what my project was all about and was always friendly and helpful. I would definitely use Preferred Roofing for any future roofing needs. Oh yes, it rained this week and everything is fine, no problems.

The experience was great. They came out right before Christmas. We were flying out of town and had a very narrow window and they were super responsive. The guy's name was Tony and he was great. He did the inspection and took pictures and got the quote back to me within just a couple of days along with the photographs, and the quote had the breakdown in it. I was very happy with them. I am sure I will go with them when I get around to having the work done.

Big, well established company, licensed, very professional estimator, punctual, very knowledgable, gave a very clear and specific estimate. This company appears to do a very good job and stands by its work with a warranty.

On the basis of recommendation from two neighbors, I called Preferred Roofing. David Paine -- the president and sole owner -- came out to discussion my options and give me an estimate. His explanations were clear and he was easy to talk to. I chose a 30-year roof, and Preferred has a five-year guarantee against any leaks, which had been a problem for me with the previous roof. The price charged by Preferred Roofing for our home was exactly the same as that estimated by another well-established roofer, Mike's Roofing. When work actually began, David arrived with his crew of three. David left after arranging the set-up, and the three workers removed the old shingles and later in the day began laying out the felt for the new roof, which was completed the next day. Jose -- the lead member of the crew -- seemed to take much pride in his work, and I liked the way he handled the work around the chimney and a couple of other small repairs needed on the underlying plywood. The job was completed in two days. It looks very neat and well done. We are very pleased with our new roof and with Preferred Roofing.

Steve was very prompt in doing the thorough and accurate estimate. The work crew was always on time, very professional, and cleaned up daily. Steve and Dave checked the work daily. All of their equipment was in excellent condition, and the company that brought the roofing materials was also very professional. Steve, Dave, and the crew always answered our questions and made sure we were happy with the outcome. They worked from beginning to finish in 3.5 days. Our neighbors commented on the speed and quality of their work. While we were interested in observing the roofing process, we would feel totally comfortable having them do the work without our being present. The roof has now been tested with heavy rains. They were so professional that we set them as a standard in looking for other professionals to do additional work on our house.

We had a very good experience with Preferred Roofing. The job foremen Steve & Drew, the office staff, and the roofing crewmen were all very friendly, polite, efficient, and performed the work in a timely manner, or responded quite quickly to our phone calls/pages. We communicated easily w/ Steve & Drew who clearly explained the work to be done, addressing our concerns and answering our questions. The crew cleaned up very well after the work was completed, and Drew did a final walk-through to ensure we were satisfied with the work.

This company was extremely professional in their sales presentation and in their work performance. Their estimate was comparable with other companies however, when additional wood replacement was needed halfway through the job they charged an additional $850. We told them to replace the wood as we were anxious to complete the roof before any further rain damage to the inside. We later found the wood purchased was valued at about $110 to $120 and may not have been the coated type required by code. We paid in full but when questioning the charge for the wood we were told that the reason for the price was the high cost of workmens Comp Insurance. We felt that it was already figured into the original estimate and felt the chargers were excessive.
