I eventually need a new roof, but they patched the leaking area, and it worked.

He was on time, polite, professional and informative.

Renters called me to tell me there was a leak in their apartment. I found Octagon on Angies List who said they could come right out. The worked on the roof in the rain to stop the leak and came back out when it stopped raining to actually fix the roof.

New roof was installed and everything seemed fine. At beginning of this year, 2015, after a particularly heavy rainfall we noticed paint bubbling on our ceiling in the master bedroom. We called Charlie and told him of the problem. He came out to inspect the roof and insisted that everything was fine with the roof installation but said the leak was due to cracked stucco on an exterior wall. We hired a stucco company and had them go over the exterior wall with a new layer of stucco based on Charlie's recommendation. fTwo weeks ago, after another heavy rain, we were cleaning out a storage closet in the master bedroom and discovered mold growing on some of the contents of the closet. Upon removing the contents of the closet, we discovered mold on the interior walls of the closet as well. Alarmed as to the potential for health hazard from the mold, we consulted an industrial hygiene management company who recommended opening the wall to try to discover the extent of the problem. Unfortunately mold had spread throughout the interior wall cavity, and the true extent of the contamination is unknown at this point. We filed a claim with our insurance company who sent out a roofing inspector to determine the source of the original water leak. To our dismay, the insurance company representative found a number of leak sources due to improper workmanship when the roof was installed. We cannot help but believe that this nightmare that we now have to deal with during the process of mold remediation; which involves moving out of our home while the removal process is underway, and dealing with the subsequent repair of walls, closet, and repainting-could have been avoided if Charlie had been more attentive to the workmanship of his employees and paid a bit more attention to our concerns when we initially reported the roof leak to him at the beginning of the year.

I like them. They were very responsive. They came right away. In a day or two the guy was here. They cleaned up very well. The fellows that came here to do it were extremely polite and responsive. They didn't trample on any bushes or anything. They're very careful. My roof looks nice after but that was to be expected. As far as I know they did a good job. We don't get much rain out here so it's really hard to tell in the long run just how good a job they did. We had a couple of rainstorms and one, there was a leak around the pipe that goes up to my furnace. I would definitely use them again. Their cost was somewhere in the middle. I had ranges from 4800-9000 to do my roof. They came in at 6000. That was probably on the lower end, the ones that I was pleased with. He was extremely professional. I even recommended to a couple of people. I don;t think they used them. I don't know what happened. I wouldn't do that to friends if I wasn't sure that he would do his job. A lot of these people depends on who is working for them. What kind of laborers do they hire. This guy, obviously picks people that know what they're doing. He did not do the work himself. He came and gave me the estimate, did all the measuring and he came back and looked at what they did. He did none of the work. The people that worked for him did the work.

First, the pros: 1. The workmanship on the roof itself was very good. We have had several significant rainfalls and no issue with leakage. 2. The overall cost was competitive, and in fact slightly lower than other bids received. 3. The company was willing to work with us on an installment plan that made it easier for us to pay for the new roof. There were, however, several issues we had with Octagon: 1. The project took longer than anticipated (about 3 weeks in total). Some of this was due to extreme heat during the first stages of the project, but even after accounting for these days it still took about a week longer than anticipated. It took numerous phone calls with the owner to finally get a larger crew on site to finish the work in a timely manner. 2. Overall, the owner was not very communicative during the project. It took a lot of proactive phone calls to get updates on the schedule, additional costs, etc. The owner rarely visited the work site, instead relying on a foreman. 3. We had an issue with fascia boards that were installed poorly and not painted to match the white trim of the house. Ultimately the owner agreed to fix the boards and paint them, but only after repeated calls and us withholding final payment.

Charlie was one of a few that I called for an estimate. He arrived on time, was very professional and answered all of my questions. He also offered services for replacing my skylights and adding a chimney cap. His estimate was very fair for all of the work agreed to and his crew were very polite and considerate and made sure all work areas were clean before leaving each day. I am very happy with my new roof, skylights and chimney cap, not to mention that everything could be done all at once. I would recommend Charlie to anyone needing a new roof.

The took care of everything in one day. They did a great job.

From the start, Charlie Ford (Octagon Roofing) was terrific. His price was reasonable, and his payment schedule was fair. But above all, his crew showed up everyday and worked hard until the job was completed. Charlie kept me informed regarding inspections and knew the requirements of my location (Beverly Hills). Everything went without a hitch, and the crew cleaned up at the end of each work day. I highly recommend Octagon Roofing.

My roof was leaking so I called these people. Because it was raining, he tried to take advantage of my problems and change me almost $500 to put a plstic tarp on the roof. Not a way to do business

I am very satisfied with the service. They did a very good job with the roof and it has survived three large rain storms very well. The guy was timely and I compared his estimate with two other companies and I chose to go with them. He showed me the roof and he was on time. He came back a couple of times to follow up on the work.

The gentleman arrived on time and responded quickly to our calls, but he wasn't very thorough in his inspection. In fact, he was only on the roof for fewer than ten minutes, and he immediately told us that the roof had problems which needed to be corrected. Ultimately, we didn't discuss the work because I knew we weren't going to use him for the job.

They came on the specified day and did the whole job unsupervised and cleaned up afterward. The only way you could tell work was done to my house was the appearance of new ridge caps. They also surveyed the rest of the roof and made some minor repairs as needed.

The service was performed within a few days or a couple of weeks after I bought the coupon. The man who came out was very unprepared. He did not even ask if I had a two-storey house or not and he came without a ladder that is able to reach the roof. I lent him a ladder and he never set a foot on the roof and he recommended $1,500 of work. That was not what I wanted. When someone goes on my roof that I can never access, I want him to be prepared to take pictures at least so that I can see what is up there. He came with a ladder that would totally not reach the roof so I would not recommend him. I am not interested in his service at all ever. I only paid for the coupon that I bought because I never called them back. His responsiveness in terms of time was good and he was punctual but it is not professional to come without your own ladder. But I do not know, maybe he just had a bad day.

He informed me I had some broken tiles that needed to be replaced.

The Octagon roofers were always punctual and considerate. They covered my pool and car so the process would minimize mess associated with removing an old roof. They showed up every day, worked a full day and finished the job within the agreed upon timeframe. They completed the job by cleaning up after themselves. The house was left in pristine condition, but with a new roof. It looks great.

All he said about it was that “it was toast”. All that he did was try to sell me a new roof. He probably spent 30 seconds up there. My roof is maybe 10 years old. I found another roofer. They came out within a week or two of purchase. We were going to have painters out and I wanted to make sure that they were going to be okay walking around up there, that is why I purchased the big deal. The price was good; the service was not so good. I would not use them again.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it went well. They provided a quote and we had them do the work.

I saw a deal for a complete roofing inspection. We had a regular roofer we use and wanted a second opinion. Octagon Roofing came out and gave us a very thorough inspection and estimate. The work to be done was simple enough so we went with our regular roofer for the work. But I appreciate Angie's list offering such a deal and I feel the price was worth the time and effort Octagon Roofing spent to give such a detailed estimate.

I purchased the big deal from Angie's List and it worked out well. Their work was very good. I have no idea about the quality of work because I did not get up on the roof and there is no rain here.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that we purchased. It went well. They found a few things and we are going to follow up with them down the road. They were very fast. They called really early the next day and then came out that same day.

The inspection done by Octagon Roofing Co Inc. didn't seem like it was thorough. I would have preferred him to go over everything with me. I had to basically ask questions, which he did answer. In the end, he did what he was supposed to do. They call it a 52 point inspection and basically, it's a xeroxed copy of a check-off list, is what it is. He literally just checked each thing and then "They you go." It's just funny. I find it not to be as much of an inspection and analysis as I would have hoped, that's all. He did have some kind of measurement tape thing that he did and that he looked at. So, that's the only thing. He got here early, but I didn't own the home yet, so I was trying to schedule it to be at a certain time and he got here about 15 minutes early. I don't think that anybody should charge for a roof inspection.

Provider took about 15 minutes to walk around roof and followed up later with an estimate for recommended repairs. Provider would not credit cost of inspection to proposed work, which included an expensive reflective coating that had no relationship to the integrity of the roof.

Visually, they did a wonderful job. I had to wait about six weeks for them to come because they were on another job. I had to wait for permits, too. The permits weren't there when they had the time. But once they, came, they did it in a timely fashion. They didn't waste any time. I am very pleased with how it looks. Every time I called them about something before they did the job, they called me right back. If they didn't answer, they called right back. The price was right in the middle. I got bids from $4800 up to $10,000. So I would say $6000 was in the middle. That's not why I picked them. I liked what they said and how they did their initial visit. I had narrowed it down to two people. I went with these people because the person that sold me my home uses this company and I trust their judgment. There were a couple of things where they could've polished up their act but it was okay. I would recommend them to someone else.
