National Plumbing and Rooter

Very well. Tony and assistant removed existing piping cluster for misbehaving unit and two related units, installed new copper tubing with three improved switching units, and a simple one-step turn-off control in case of possible malfunction at any later time.

I initially called National Plumbing to replace a rusted and leaking pipe to a hose bib and then we discovered all the exterior piping was galvanized steel (30 years old), disintegrating in various locations in the yard. It was necessary to replace the entire outside system with copper pipe. Tony was able to begin the work the next day, and completed it by the second day. He and his team were very efficient, professional and thorough in reorganizing the connections to the house and sprinkler valve system in the front and back yards. He also removed some extraneous piping damaged in the earthquake and added a separate water regulator for the sprinkler system to mitigate the high water pressure affecting the valves. In addition, he took extra time to replace the worn and leaking faucet stems and shower head in our shower. He is very knowledgeable and experienced, and was very responsive to all my questions and concerns. His team was very efficient in performing the work and straightening everything back up. He made an unexpected job a more pleasant experience than I would have expected. I would certainly have him back for any other plumbing installations that we may want to do in the future.

Tony is an excellent plumber, and I think his prices are very fair. The work he has done for me includes cleaning my tankless water heater, leak repair, hydrojetting slow/clogged drains, and replacing a faucet fixture.

Tony was awesome! The best thing about him is that he takes the time to not only explain what is wrong, but also walks you through what he is going to do. To me, this was invaluable. Other companies came in and just gave estimates, but Tony gave just a little bit more that sealed the deal. My sewer pipe had a unique layout, but Tony persevered and worked the hydro jet until it was totally cleared. The camera feature was an added expense, but showed irrefutable evidence of what was happening below ground. I was shown the "before" state of the root-filled pipe and the very much cleared "after" footage. He took the camera all the way to the city sewer line to prove that the work had been fully done. On top of this, he offered a one year guarantee on his work. I was very impressed with his work ethic, focus on customer service and his unflappable attitude!

It went really well. Tony gave me an arrival time frame of 11am-Noon and he arrived with an assistant at 11am. I had previously purchased a strainer for the kitchen sink, so all they had to do was install it. While Tony's assistant installed it and replaced the stop valves under the bathroom sink, he ran to several plumbing supply stores to obtain the faucet cartridges for the leaking faucet. Once he returned, they installed them. In total, it only took about 1 1/2 hours. They were prompt, clean, and efficient.

I originally hired National just to move a badly placed trap, but Tony found several very old galvanized pipes that were rusty and leaking. There was also an issue of pipe sizes being mis-matched (1.5" vs 2") and being connected with inappropriate adapters. At first I thought "Oh boy, here we go. A $600 job is going to wind up being a couple of thousand more". But the estimate for the additional work was less than $900, so the whole job came in at under $1,500. The work took about 4 hours - they were very thorough and they cleaned up before they left. I will definitely call National again!

Called National to fix a leak under the sink in the laundry/utility room. The receptionist was very friendly on the phone and scheduled Tony to come out the following week. Tony showed up right on time. He diagnosed the problem right away. The repair required a part that he didn't carry on his truck. At this point, most plumbers would hand you a bill for the cost of ordering the part and the service call and schedule a follow up appointment to install the part after it comes in. Tony picked up the part at a local hardware store and had the problem fixed within the hour. That's the difference between a great service company and the rest; taking an extra half-hour to solve the problem correctly and in one day. Before he left, Tony explained that there is a one year warranty on the repair. I'm completely satisfied with National and I'll be using them for anything plumbing related in the future. If I could give them higher than an "A" rating I would.

He was great - he flushed the hot water heater then promptly put brackets on the gasline hookup.

Great! The plumber lets you know that he will be running late and he explained in detail what work would be needed. Fast, clean, efficient and the work was performed in a very professional manner.

Tony is the guy to ask for, and we can't rave enough about him. We have six zones and after patching together my system so it would work temporarily, he returned and detected which controllers of the six zones were out, connected two so that they were being controlled by one setting by our defective controller box, and got our whole system up and running. Our previous plumber had told us that we would have to dig up the ground for a good bit to lay new wires to the controller box, but Tony being honest did some tests on the wiring and found it was the cheaper controller unit that was the problem, not the expensive need to rewire. He is honest ingenious and very professional, a pleasure to work with, punctual and will try to find the least costly solution to your problem and will go above and beyond to save you money.

Tony arrived on time and even though I had bought the wrong pressure regulator for my home, Tony let me use that coupon and I paid the little extra for the larger regulator. The job was done in under an hour. Tony is very nice man and he is respectful and professional. I would not hesitate to call him again in the future!

He was extremely pleasant to work with and very precise. He explained everything and left us with suggestions on maintaining our plumbing so we wouldn't have to call him out for the same issue in the future. I really admired that since he wasn't out there to take us for all our money, but instead to help us.

Tony made the extra effort to squeeze me in same day, much appreciated, given the problem. He showed up early (called first), identified the problem area, and snaked the drain. Everything is fine now.

We had a flooded back yard with water rushing out everywhere. I couldn't tell where the water was coming from since it was so dark outside. I turned off the water to the house and proceeded to call local plumbers on Angie's List. Tony was the only one that could come out the next morning to assess what the problem was. It was a ruptured hose which someone had left on. So simple to fix and he was able to come out immediately. Tony also asked if we needed any other plumbing work done since he was there. He changed our shower head in the bathroom.

He does very good work, but his prices are a little high. He gave me an estimate for 6920.20. I got other bids that were much cheaper and I went with one of those bids. He is a nice guy and very professional.

Tony is so outstanding that he dropped everything to install after I spent extra dollars to have the eFaucets.com company ship overnight. I had to reschedule and he was, once again, prompt.

iWe are very pleased with National Plumbing, and we have used this company many times recently. When you call, a pleasant person answers the phone and takes down the information. Tony always returns our call within a half an hour, and schedules an appointment. He is prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend National Plumbing.

As usual, Tony arrived on time and explained what he was going to do and why he changed to a different descaling solution. He hooked up a pump to the water heater and circulated the descaler through the heater for an hour. Then flushed out the unit with clean water and tested it. All went perfectly and he always leaves the area neat and clean.

Absolutely exemplary service from this company and a special that can't be beat - $69 for water heater service. What's the catch? The personnel are so knowledgeable and so pleasing to work with that you will only want to use them for all your plumbing from that time on! We will definitely be using them again.

The technician was polite and professional. The unclogging problem turned out to be relatively simple and quicker than what I expected. Instead of fixing it and leaving away quickly he explained what needs to be done if this issue happens again in the future and unclogged other bathrooms as well. It was a very good gesture on his part.

Tony was professional, thorough, courteous and reasonable from start to finish. He promptly returned all phone calls. He gave us options and then patiently explained each one. He stayed on site for the work. The job involved installing 180 feet of copper piping, including 30 feet under our driveway. It was a big and expensive job, but the price was fair and his crew was diligent and careful.

The work itself and the man who did the work were both fine. My only problem was that the job cost more than the special price in the Angie's List promotional. That was because the diameter of our gas line is 3/4", and the special price applied only to 1/2" lines. I think this is not an uncommon situation, and I want to make people aware of it before they commit. I would encourage anyone thinking of opting for a promotional deal for a gas line shutoff valve from National to address this issue in advance. Find out up front what diameter gas line you have, and then--before the guy comes to your house--negotiate the price increase, if any. When I opted for the Angie's List special, I had no idea that there might be an issue with pipe diameter that would affect the price. I didn't find out that we had wider pipe until the plumber was here, ready to install. I also think that the "fine print" disclosures that come along with the special price ad should better alert the customer to the fact that gasline pipe diameters vary, and that the price will increase significantly for diameters greater than 1/2". It has been almost a year since we had this service done, but I recall that the additional price for the shutoff valve for the 3/4" pipe was substantial--$100 or more.
