Lerman Appliances

I've used Lerman Appliances before and have always been satisfied. Today was no different. I highly recommend them.

Excellent. Our older Maytag dryer was not heating up, and then wasn't turning on, even though there was power (the light came on when opening the door) and the vent/duct was clean. Joseph identified the problems within five minutes: no heat due to broken gas valve coil and no power simply because the dial was broken. He went to his van, replaced the coil(s) and added a temporary dial so the dryer would work. A few days later he came back with the replacement dial. We have used Lerman a few times, including for a rental property. They have given new life to older appliances that have saved us money in the long run.

In mid May, 2018, my sub zero refrigerator door stopped closing tightly. It is an old machine, but had worked perfectly until this point. I immediately consulted Angie's List for an expert in sub zero repairs. Lerman Appliances was listed as being expert in the repairs of my refrigerator. I called the company, explained the problem, and the estimator came out on May 21, 2018 and gave me an estimate for the gasket he said was worn out and needed replacement so that the door would stay tightly closed. An estimate for $404.06 was provided. I agreed to the job. Mr. Lerman and one of his employees came out a couple of days later. However, as Mr. Lerman approached my kitchen, he said, "And you're going to need a new door closer as well." He had never mentioned that to me before, and I thought then, that the door was not going to close tightly when he finished, and I would then be charged again, for the other part and labor. I was correct. The door would not stay closed and Mr. Lerman told me it was because the refrigerator need a door closer AND the floor under my refrigerator had settled and was no longer level, we had to replace the floor! (The matching freezer stands on the same floor and is absolutely level). I paid the invoice I had agreed to, but Mr. Lerman said he could not come back to do any more repairs until the floor under the refrigerator was level. Therefore, I called a company that had remodeled a property of mine. Two men had to move the refrigerator and level it in the existing space. that cost was $450! They showed me that each shelf was absolutely level (using a professional level on each shelf). I called Mr. Lerman, who had agreed to come back and finish the work after the floor was finished. By now, it was August and we were using the top of a hand truck under the handle of the refrigerator to keep the door closed. Nevertheless, it was not absolutely tight and my food had been spoiling for over two months. Mr. Lerman had agreed to come back and finish the job when the floor was level. I told him that I would pay for the many new parts that were needed to keep the door closed, but since he was an expert in sub zero refrigerators and freezers, had given me a definite estimate to fix the refrigerator door (which was paid in full) that I would agree to pay for the parts he had not told me about, but that I was not going to pay for his labor. I felt he had misquoted the job, and knew that just a gasket would not be enough to fix it. I called the office the next day and told the young woman on the phone that I would only pay for the parts - and not for labor - that I would only pay for the actual cost of the parts to Mr. Lerman, but not the "retail" cost. She told me that I would see the invoice from the parts company and that's what I would pay. Mr. Lerman and his installer came out, installed the new parts, but told me that the door would not close tightly until it "wore itself in" which would take a week or two. So, when he left, we still used the hand truck to keep the door closed. After a couple of weeks, it did start to hold more tightly, and finally, began to act like a refrigerator door again. I called the company and told them that it finally seemed to be working, and asked for the invoice for the parts. Instead, Mr. Lerman made his own invoice for the parts, and absolutely refused to show me the one from his wholesale source. I looked online for the cost of the parts listed on the invoice. All of them were cheaper from the online sellers than they were as listed on Mr. Lerman's invoice. I told him I would not pay his invoice but any time he kept his word, and showed me the actual cost of the parts, I would pay him THAT amount at once. He refuses to do so, he has threatened collections, and to come and take "his" parts out of my refrigerator. I was without a fully working refrigerator for four months. Mr. Lerman knew he did not give me an accurate estimate for fixing the refrigerator door when he sent it to me. He knew I would need a door closer and other parts but did not let me decide if I wanted to go ahead with the repairs, or maybe get another estimate. Instead, the job not only cost the original $404.06 I paid him, but $450 to fix the floor that had nothing to do whatsoever with the function of the door staying closed, but now he insists on another $361.35 for parts that do not cost that much. I just want the invoice from the wholesale source to see the price Mr. Lerman paid so I can pay him and move on.

The electronic control circuitry was diagnosed as the potential problem. The part had to be ordered, and between that and our personal schedule, it took two weeks. Barry was the technician both times. He was very courteous and efficient. The part installed did not fix the problem and the motor was then singled out as the problem. Because of the high cost of a new motor and the age of the machine we decided a new dishwasher was needed. Barry then cleaned out our connected air vent (which started to have a bad oder) so we would be ready for the new dishwasher. I might add that the office staff was always extremely friendly and helpful through all our phone calls.

Tony was kind to notify us when he was on his way. He was punctual and most professional. The work was done before we knew it. We have used Lerman Apppliances in the past and will continue to call them when we need them.

Offending parts were replaced. The technician was on time and explained everything thoroughly. Work was done efficiently and I feel the price was fair. No problems.

Great experience! Called to make appointment, receptionist asked me to send a video showing how my dryer was acting up. Sent the video and within 30 minutes a technician called me to schedule the appointment. SEt up the appointment at exactly the time I needed - to accomodate my schedule. Repair technician arrived at EXACTLY the time the appointment was scheduled. He explained what was wrong, had the parts I needed and repaired it. He was in and out within an hour. How does it get any better than that?

They called me promptly to schedule and appointment. The service provider, Joseph, was prompt, professional and well-informed. He took care to explain the issue and how to address it. It was a costly repair, but the pricing looked to be equivalent to other online estimates I found for parts and labor. The work was done efficiently and I really appreciated Joseph’s straightforward style and manner.

Mike gave me 2 estimates, $260 or $320, I said do what's best. After less than 2 hours, he hands a bill for $899 with absolutely NO warranty. The fridge works better but has a mild rattle, Mike was unfriendly the entire time. If he had told me the prices before he did the repairs, it wouldn't have been such a shock.

It went beautifully. They came THE SAME DAY and within a couple of hours of my call which is commendable itself! The problem was an easy fix and a much needed maintenance was performed on the cooling equipment. Back in 2014 I gave Lerner a rave review for fixing our Kenmore stackable washer/dryer. I will never use another company. In fact, I'm using them again in a week or so to install a new freezer fan after they order it.

My electric stove is 59 years old. Twenty years ago I replaced two burners. They needed replacing again. The repairman found that not only the two burners needed replacing but also all four switches. Tony, the repairman, was very thorough working with this stove. His first call was over two hours long. He had to come a second time and this call went faster. He did excellent work. The price I paid for labor was very fair. The only complaint I had about price was the price of the parts ($900). But I don't think Lerman had any control over that. I remember that twenty years ago the repair parts were very expensive then.

Vitaly completed the job and explained how to prevent problem in future. I was promised a $20 rebate because I got his name from Angie's List. I never got it even after he said the company would mail it to me.

Serge arrived on time. He was honest and told me that it would be less expensive to purchase a new washer then try to repair the LG washer. He was extremely professional.
