FRED MORROW PLUMBING

I had used Fred Morrow Plumbing for over 10 years for the yearly clearing of tree roots from the main sewer line. "Big" Tony, who is no longer with Fred Morrow, was always efficient, pleasant, prompt and knowledgeable. In June of this year, however, the sewer line was backing up and, unfortunately, I had to call for service over the weekend - $240 an hour. The person who came out snaked the sewer line for approximately 10 minutes total and said the line was clear. One month later to the day, I had to call Fred Morrow Plumbing because the line was backed up again. I received a call back from the office the next day, since I had called late the previous day. When I questioned the little amount of time spent earlier to clear the line (10 minutes at $240), I was told that the time didn't matter. Obviously, it did matter because the line had not been properly cleared. Begrudgingly, I was told that there would be no charge for someone to come out even though it was one day past their 30 day guarantee. I was also told because of the "on-going" short-term problem, they should put a camera down the sewer line to diagnose the problem. Fred Morrow charges over $200 for this service. The person who arrived that morning wandered around while on the phone and finally told me he was having trouble getting the snaking machine from his truck. Magically, later he discovered how to remove the machine, and after a few minutes snaking the sewer line claimed that there was a root problem about 1 foot from the clean out by the house. One foot from the clean out and the previous plumber didn't clear it???? One week later on a Saturday, the sewer line was backing up for the third time. Rather than calling Fred Morrow, I called another Angie's list service provider. He arrived as promised (no extra weekend charge), cleared the sewer line all the way to the street, and put a camera down the line (at no charge). While one of the options was to continue the yearly clearing which would have been adequate, after 3 plumbing problems in a 5 week period (had the first problem been appropriately handled, there wouldn't have been the additional problems), I chose to have a trenchless sewer line replacement. The other service provider was professional, accommodating, pleasant, and delivered as promised at a very reasonable price. Up until this year, I had been very happy with Fred Morrow Plumbing. The recent problems with their service and customer relations were very disappointing. They lost my business.

Stal arrived at the promised time after two phone calls keeping me informed as to when he would arrive. He installed the new kitchen faucet I had purchased. Then he worked on the washing machine where he replaced the single hot/cold water valve that was leaking with separate hot and cold water valves. This involved some soldering.(Masterserve had done a really bad job years before, so Stal had to figure out how to make it right.). He also replaced the old water lines with braided metal lines. Stal worked quickly and with a lot of energy. He was confident in what he was doing. He explained to me everything that he was going to do. He answered my questions. When it was time to pay, he thoroughly explained every item on the bill to me. This is the third time we have had Fred Morrow Plumbing come to our house and we have been satisfied every time.

The service was great. He came when he said he was going to come he worked hard and efficient. He was friendly as well.

The work all went well and smoothly. Pete arrived within the two-hour window the company had set and went right to work. I was at my computer, and he went back and forth to his truck bringing in major pieces of equipment as needed. One major thing he did was "blow out" various drains causing better drainage. He called me when he was finished to inspect all the work he had done, and, of course, it was all superb. This is an old house, and I may eventually have to copper repipe everything. But for now, everything works, and Pete felt he added a 40% increase to the workability of my plumbing system. The shower's water spray is now SO invigorating!

He arrived on time and was very fast and efficient. Originally I thought I just needed new fill valves and flappers in both bathroom toilets, and replacement for the hot water flex pipe that I thought was leaking. He replaced the bad fill valves and flappers in both toilets. I had him check the main bath toilet as it was a little wobbly, and he pulled and reset the toilet with new bolts and wax rings. Then it turned out that the master bath sink faucet was leaking... not the flex pipe. He replaced the center cartridge which also made the faucet easier to turn on and off. The entire job was completed in about and hour and a half. All-in-all, I was very pleased with his performance and how quickly he worked. I won't hesitate to call them for future repairs.

The plummer showed up on time, was professional and clean. He retrieved a ring from the drain. As good as it gets !

Called to set up an appointment late Thursday; they returned my call the next morning. They were very busy so appointment was set up for Monday morning. This was not an emergency so the wait was acceptable. They guys arrived on Monday within the alloted time and took care of the problem within 20 minutes. They were friendly and professional. Over all a good experience. During the call on Friday after setting the Monday appointment , I also asked about sump pump repairs and replacement. Fred was very thorough and asked a lot of questions to understand our installed system. We set up a separate appointment later in the week so he could send a specialist out to look at our installation and make recommendations.

DWP replaced my meter the Wednesday prior to Fred Morrow Plumbing's arrival. Four technicians and five days later no hot water. I checked online and it seemed that my controller was no longer under warranty. I called Fred and gave them my model and serial numbers. When Pete showed up from Fred Morrow Plumbing he informed me that the parts were still under warranty,,, so I payed for a service call. Fred Morrow plumbing could have easily charged me for the controller but they are a very honest group. This is my second review and third time I've used Fred Morrow Plumbing. They continue to impress me. I will be filing a claim for the service call with the DWP. Honesty is a great marketing tool... Thanks Fred... C. Hubbell

I've used his services for over 10 years he does good work but he charges a lot of money he also charges driving time and if he doesn't have the parts they will come back and charge you for another service call.. you get no benefits from using his services over the years.. if there's any problem or any misunderstanding, his way of dealing with it just get another plumber. Fred MORROW customer service and attitude is the worst ..just hope you don't have a problem.

Pete fixed the problems caused by a previous plumber. Very knowledgeable and thorough.

Gas company replaced our meter last Wednesday... no hot water and four Socalgas techs later, and six days, I called Fred Morrow. I gave them the model and serial numbers of model. I went on line and the maker had a 2 year warranty on parts. Got a call from Fred Morrow Plumbing stating all parts were under warranty. They could have very easily said I was out of luck and would have to pay for the parts... long story short "Pete" showed up in alotted time... replaced the parts in about 35 minutes... and I just had a hot shower in a week... next move is to file a claim to the Gas co. I have used Morrow Company twice before and having lived in my home for 36 years I would never recommend any other plumber. C. Hubbell

plumber fixed the problem. plumber was able to provide same-day service due emergency nature of the problem.

Had to make several trips because to the age of the part but was able to find the right part and replace the problem. Was extreamly polite and professional.

I talked with Fred Morrow at 8am in the morning to describe the main clog problem and he gave me a window of 10am-12 that same day which was good. The dispatched plumber called from job before mine in the schedule to give me a better estimate of when he was to arrive. He then arrived promptly as he described at about 11. The drain clog was solved quickly as described above, and I asked about fixing a couple of other things around the house, he ok'ed and then went to get some tools before proceeding to follow me around the house. He worked very efficiently and so I was able to cross off several TO DO's from my list of annoying issues in our home. Will use Fred Morrow Plumbing again for big or small jobs.

It was great. Very dependable, efficient, they went the distance for me. They are honest, trustworthly, and their price is competative. They go above and beyond. Didn't create any problems with our home, very considerate. We have used them for years for any plumbing needs.

Customer service is excellent. Very prompt and professional. They explained everything to me and tried to use existing parts to save a little $. Had to snake the bath tub drain and fixed the pipes under the vanity.

This company is THE BEST plumbing company I have ever used. I called them this time to replace an old, leaky outdoor hose spigot. The guy also raised the height of the spigot to make it more convenient to access. I have used them for other things such a replacing an old toilet and unclogging a kitchen drain. I have never been disappointed with their work.

He came to check my garbage disposal. I hired him for $105 for the 1-hour consult and got $10 off for being an Angie's List member. It only took about 15 minutes, so he actually asked me If need anything else, "You got me for an hour". I WAS SHOCKED. So, he fixed my wobbly toilet, too! I will definitely call them again, On time, professional, hardworking. Can't rave enough.

I found this company on Angie's List this morning. The person that answered at the business was and friendly and explained the costs. Hourly rate was comparable with other plumbers in the area. A time was agreed to. About an hour later I received a phone call from the owner of the company asking me for the model and serial number of the hot water heater. He wanted to check to see if the unit was under warranty since he did not install it originally. When he called back a second time he told me that the replacement parts were under warranty and that the new parts would not cost me any money, that I would only have to pay for labor. The employee arrived on time and removed the control valve and pilot assembly. I was charged only for the labor, less the $10..00 special discount as an Angie's List first time service customer. I would use this company again and recommend them to other Angie's List members.

They came and went to work and explained the entire process.

My water heater went out on a Thursday night and I needed it replaced before the weekend. They were able to make time for me on Friday and then quickly & efficiently get the job done. No muss. No fuss.

The workers were late. Thirty minutes after the time they were scheduled to arrive, I called them to find out where the workers were. I was informed they were stuck in traffic. No problem if they called me first, but to simply be late is bad without a courtesy phone call. The work done by this company cost more than double what it should have! I do not endorse this company and in fact am a bit upset at the billing practices. They came late, did not communicate the fact they would be late and thern OVERCHARGED me for the work done or simply worked slow. The job should not have cost $700. Other plumbers on Angieslist offer the service for MUCH LESS to replace faucets. ***In response to the BS written by the provider in rebuttal*** They can say anything they want in response to overcharging for simple jobs. They charge hourly and work slow ON PURPOSE! The reason these people charged so much was two fold. 1. They had an inexperienced apprentice who required the help of the more experienced plumber numerous times. 2. They walked back and forth to the truck numerous times and took their jolly time in doing the so as they charge hourly. They are inefficient on purpose! The reason they charge by the hour and not the job is evident in the work ethic demonstrated by the plumbers. NEVER HIRE THESE PEOPLE! THEY OVERBILL FOR SIMPLE JOBS! LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE! DO YOURSELF THE FAVOR AND USE A DIFFERENT PLUMBER!

I thought it went well. They were efficient and professional.

I called them on a Tuesday evening with the three issues I described. They were there at 8:30 the following momring. Called before they arrived. had all the parts they needed. Didn't try to upsell new equipment. Finished the work quickly. Explain the function of the new parts thoroughly. Showed me how to get the warrantee on the part. Polite....good cleanup....great experience.
