Fiddler On The Roof Chimney Service

It went well. They were punctual and clean. Did a good job of protecting my floor and cleaning up afterward. The only negative was the fact they told me I had a crack in my fireplace box, which made it unsafe for fires until the box was replaced. They offered to call the manufacturer for an estimate on replacing the box and said they'd get back to me with a price. I haven't heard back from them in two weeks.

I have used Fiddler on the Roof for the past few years to clean my chimney annually. They always arrive on time, are meticulously clean and aware of furniture, carpets. etc. Marvin took photos of the chimney and spark arrestor. He advised having trees trimmed back a good way from the chimney (which I have now done). He suggested installation of a heat reflector as the bricks in the chimney are beginning to show wear. We will do this. He is efficient, charming and an overall pleasure to work with. Would recommend the company to anyone.

I thought that they would send a camera down the flue, they did not, not part of the inspection. But, did go on roof and advised replacing the cap. Which I agreed to. The inspector was cordial and professional, offering advice that seems honest. I paid for a new screen cap that goes over the top, which he installed on the spot. He suggested a baffle, which keeps smoke from going in from one fireplace to the other (I have back to back fireplaces). I paid for the baffle, which he did not have in truck, and he came back the next day while I was at work and installed. He showed me a few cracks in the firebox, but explained that he could not warranty his work, I asked if it was something I could fix, and he said yes... so I did.

Fantastic. Marvin and George were prompt, efficient, clean and pleasant. From arrival to departure. Marvin called 1/2 hour before arrival, as scheduled. They laid out floor coverings and kept all soot out of the house. They were just as careful and tidy outside. They were clear in their explanations and the "chimeney - oscopy" was very interesting.

The work was completed on time and for a low price. The roof looked ok, but after the first heavy rain a leak appeared in our living room. They came out and claimed the leak was from water collecting around the AC on the roof and installed flashing so the water would not collect. The roof continued to leak repeatedly after it rained despite several attempts to fix the leak. Meanwhile the leak had stained the ceiling and caused some of the acoustic to fall off, I had to insist that he come to fix the issue. It took him over one year to fix the roof and ceiling.

James was terrific. He did a great job and persevered when hit hit a road block. Very happy.

Very well. I was in the process of selling my home and meeting a requirement by the buyers. I explained what I needed done and didn't want any notations on the paperwork that would lead the buyers to require me to do any more additional work. I needed them to listen to me and they did!!! Another company I called off Angie's List was adament that they would write inspection notes. I felt like the other company was just drumming up business because they told me that ALWAYS find something wrong (and that was going to cost me more maybe even the sale).

They are just a really good company and they are very professional. They are very clean and always on time, we have been very happy with them.

Brandon did the cleaning and was on-time, courteous and professional. He cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. He scheduled a technician to come back and do the crown wash & repair and install a new chimney-cap 3 days later. The 2nd tech was Marvin, who was also on time, courteous and professional. They cost exactly what they said they would, recommended other services without pressuring me to get them, and honored their 20.00 off online coupon.

I hadn't had the chimney inspected since the house was purchased ten years ago. The technician (who was extremely nice and easy to deal with) examined the chimney and determined that it didn't need cleaning, but needed a new cap (I had expected that possibility). He efficiently installed the new cap.

He arrived on time and asked exactly what we wanted. He inspected the flue and chimney and both fireplaces. He told us how much each service would cost. We were very pleased with how well he removed the soot buildup and how nice both fireplaces looked. They both work better now.

Fiddler provided a 3 hour window for the technician to arrive. The technician, Marvin, called me 30 minutes before he was to arrive. He called within the three hour window and arrived when he said that he would. He put a thick work blanket on the floor to protect the carpet. He taped off the opening to the fire place. He then went outside, got his ladder and climbed up to inspect the out side of the chimney and to sweep it from the top down. He then came in to scan the interior of the chimney with a camera and he invited me to come look. He gave me a guided tour pointing out things of interest to a homeowner. The camera took us all the way to the roof and I was able to see the state of my roof. I asked him when I should have the process repeated and he said two years. Marvin, was efficient, informative, and appropriately friendly. He cleaned up after himself and left after a cordial good-bye. This is the third or fourth time I've used Fiddler on the Roof. I would recommend them without hesitation.

The scheduling was simple, and they were very responsive. They came out when they said they were going to. They kept the work very clean, and really respected my home. The worker that came out was well trained, and very courteous.

We've used this company for several years and are happy with their punctuality, professionalism and service. Last year they installed a long-overdue damper in one of the fire boxes--the damper and installation cost just $250, making me wish we'd done it a lot sooner.

Using the operative word "FANTASTIC."

Company came out and inspected two chimneys. Charged me about $400 for the two inspections. They then provided a bid of $9000 to coat the insides of both chimneys and to provide a chimney cap. I got competitive bids from other suppliers. Two suppliers bid $4500-$4700 for doing the basically same type of job. Another bid $10,000 to do stainless steel liners for both chimneys (a far better job that would survive an earthquake). That supplier thought the bid I had from Fiddler should have cost about $3000. These people tried to overcharge me by 100%+. Go figure.

I received an appointment the day after my initial call. Like the gas or phone company, I was given a 4-hour window within which the chimney sweep would come. Jorge came within the 4-hour window. He did a sweep along with a video review of the chimney. I paid $119 ($139 less $20 on line coupon from their website) for the service. I was given some quotes for follow-up work to consider, but at no time did I feel pressured to take on additional repairs. The repair suggestions included putting in a rain cap ($279), crown repair ($225), ceramic flue joint repair ($1,700), and smoke chamber repair ($425). The prices are what they are and I haven't had the opportunity to compare whether they are higher/lower than the competition. But for the job they did, I was satisfied.

This was a basic service call that they threw in a lot of extras for free. I would definitely use them again.

My fireplaces were cleaned 2 years ago and new spark arresters installed by another company. Since then, the house has smelled like smoke whenever the fireplace was lit. Fiddler on the Roof Chimney Service sent out 2 men the day I called. They were prompt and courteous. They inspected the fireplaces and went on the roof and found that the caps were not sealed properly. They showed me pictures and corrected the problem. They also got rid of a black widow spider that had a huge web in one of the fireplaces and showed me a picture that they had taken up on the roof of the molding of my skylight that was coming loose and instructed me to get a roofer so I wouldn't get water damage. They were immaculately clean, thorough, and fast. And gave me recommendations to prevent the house from smelling smokey which worked. I would use them again without hesitation.

The company called a day before to confirm the appointment, and offered to send a technician that afternoon as there was one who happened to be in the area and available. Technician came that afternoon, right on time. After scoping out the wood-burning fireplace, he gave his diagnosis of the current state of the fireplace (fairly old fireplace, but in good working order, missing a damper). He installed the damper that same day, and very quickly. He also was very respectful of the house and cleaned up after himself. A great overall experience.

They were great. Their estimate was the most reasonable. They arrived on time, did the work in a professional manner, made sure to clean up after themselves. I liked their work very much.

We got at least 2 quotes for this work and while they weren't necessarily the "cheapest" (though close to it) they were the best at explaining the different options and cost/safety efficiency of each. Start to finish, excellent, timely, friendly, efficient. Showed up when they said they would on both scheduled days. I got numerous calls from the office checking up on times and going over the work needed to be performed, including a clarification call about additional costs associated with a piece of work not fully gone over during the estimate. Danny and his helper (can't remember his name!) worked under unconscionably hot conditions and worked fast. They were both also charming and dealt well with my curiosity about procedures/materials etc. The work they did looks beautiful and they cleaned up as well as can be expected when you're removing 5 gallons of soot from a chimney!

I thought that they were very thorough because they showed me with a camera everything that was wrong and needed to be done to my chimney. It was expensive to pay for, but it needed to be done and I feel like I got my money's worth.

The work began a few weeks later than agreed upon due to Fiddler running long on a job, and then on a family emergency for the owner. On a renegotiated start date a crew of 10 men arrived and tore off the old roof and sheathing and removed the debris. The following day a crew came to install the new sheathing and shingles. The work was completed in the time estimated - 1 1/2 days. The work looked quite good, although they did step through the roof in several places on the patio- but they repaired it. However, after they were paid and left the job site I noticed that the patio had pulled away from the house due to the workers walking on it.
