We had a later appointment in the month but when we called up to confirm the timing we found that there was a cancellation and therefore a opening on the same day which they offered to us. Omar the service professional went over all aspects that we needed like estimates for converting into gas fireplace etc and gave a detailed description of the work required. He did not push chimney sweep on us since he though it was not required.

A company that wants to charge for an estimate? Do people really pay for this?

The process was painless, professional, and it was very easy to set up an appointment or communicate with them. They were willing to work with me on several ideas and when they came to inspect the fireplace, they definitely knew what they were talking about. The whole experience was A+.

I recently purchased the condo in which I now live and have never used the fireplace. I wanted to make sure it was in good condition as well as the chimney before I used it for the first time. We were not sure when I made the appointment over the phone whether just a visual inspection, a more thorough snake camera inspection and/or cleaning would be necessary - so we left that open and to the discretion of the technician. The technician, Enrique, arrived on time and was very professional. He did a good visual inspection and took a picture from below the flue. He said the fireplace and the chimney were in good condition and did not need to be cleaned or repaired. He gave me some helpful hints regarding safety and best use practices. I was extremely pleased that he did not try to up-sell me the more expensive options when they were, indeed, not needed. An honorable thing. I would use them again and recommend to friends.

They said the chimney needed a lot of work and was in-operable. They were supposed to follow up with me on a detailed estimate but I never heard back from them. They were prompt and courteous when they did come out.

The whole job turned out great. Everyone at the company was courteous and made me feel comfortable that I made the right choice hiring them.

The Fiddler on the Roof Chimney Service was easy to work with, from the call to set up the service to the time that they came out to do the cleaning. The man that did the cleaning was very nice, did not make a mess and did a wonderful job. I have already recommended this service to a couple of my neighbors.

Fiddler on the Roof actually made having my chimney swept fun. When I mentioned that I didn't see them singing and dancing when they were on my roof, one of them came back in the house wearing a top hat! (If you haven't seen "Mary Poppins" you wouldn't understand.) They covered furniture, etc. so that not a single smudge of ash was left behind, and even called the following week to see if my husband needed an explanation of the recommended repairs. It doesn't get any better than that.

Work was done on two different days. First day was the chimney sweep and video scan. Itemized estimate was given to us for required repairs. Second visit was scheduled about two weeks later when all required repairs were made and gas log lighter was installed. Omar, who performed the work on both days, did a very good job. Floor surfaces were properly covered and there was no residual soot or odors from the repairs. We began burning wood in the fireplace again a few days after the repairs were made, and we have had no problems. We will definitely use Fiddler on the Roof Chimney Repairs again for the next annual check.

It had been eight years since the last chimney sweep and long overdue. I scheduled the appointment about 10 days ago. A representative called the day before to confirm the appointment. The technician, Omar, called again the day of service about 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time to notify me of his arrival. Enrique called five minutes before arriving and conducted the inspection in a timely manner. He showed me pictures of the chimney and areas that may need work.

I was very excited about using Fiddler on the Roof Chimney Service, so I left a voice mail over the weekend explaining the condition of my chimney (excellent), the number of stories, and my availability (as I travel most of the week), etc. When I had not heard back on Monday morning, I called before I left for my week of travel. What I met with, from a customer service point of view, was unacceptable (please note that I have had significant experience in customer service at the director level at Continental Airlines, so I know good service from mediocre or bad service). I have used 2 chimney services over the last 20 years with this house, and my prior home, so I have some experience with these services. Had my prior chimney sweep not passed away, I would be using him to this day. Here is a summary of my customer service "interaction:" 1. When I mentioned my voice mail call I was told, very officiously, "I'm still going through the long list of messages left this weekend." To that point, I would say if Mondays are busy (and I was told very definitively that "But this is our BUSY season!") and this is your busy season, check your messages earlier on Monday morning or check them Sunday night like most entrepreneurs do. 2. I mentioned that I travel for business Monday through Thursday, so I needed a Friday appointment. However, what was offered to me was SATURDAY, November 16. I guess listening is not a strong point. 3. I was spoken to as if I knew nothing about chimney sweeping nor scheduling appointments. When we finally agreed upon a date, I reconfirmed saying, OK, I will change my schedule so we can have an appointment Monday, November 12 in the 8 am WINDOW you suggested. Immediately, the voice of officiousness broke in, "NO, it is 8 am -12 noon!" I pointed out that is why I used the word "WINDOW". Their rep did a great job, once again, not listening or trying to control the situation so that I had to use just the right words to be understood. Oh, brother! 4. When I asked about pricing, the Angie's List coupon was not brought up, so I had to ask, "Does your price include the Angie's List Discount?" When I tried to get to the bottom of the pricing, I got a lot of caveats instead, for example: "We charge you $45 for our inspection. IF everything is OK and you want us to do just a chimney sweeping, it will be $159, which you can apply the $45 to." This set off a real red flag for me. I know when contractors tell me "if everything is OK" it is a big contingency that signals they want to upsell me to other services (e.g., "Buy a chimney sweep in combination with a dryer vent cleaning" which ONLY costs $125 more and which takes 5-10 minutes. Yes, this was something another Angie's List sweep tried to sell me today if I wanted to take advantage of an Angie's List 15% off coupon). Caveat emptor.

His inspection was very good. He was very timely and very clean. He explained everything to me during the inspection.

They gave suggestions which were more cosmetic and I chose not to do those. They guy who came out was neat, did the work quick, and cleaned up after himself.

Service guy very professional and knowledgable.

My chimney was swept after not having it cleaned for 3 years. The technician suggested that I have further service to remove the extended buildup of creosote which could cause a fire in the chimney if not treated. The technician did a very thorough and clean job and did not pressure me to seek more service but highly recommended that I do so. I will call the Chimney Sweep again in the future

I was very impressed. The service technician called 20 minutes prior to showing up and arrived exactly at the time he said he would. First he explained everything to me as to what he was going to do and then he got right to work. As he was cleaning and inspecting he found a few issues and pointed them out to me right away and explained what it would take to correct them. As the house was built in 1947 and I just moved in the beginning of this year I wasn't surprised that there were a few issues. I will be using them again to perform the repairs as pointed out.

James showed up right on time and had even called beforehand to let me know he was on his way. He walked me through everything that he was going to do during his appointment. He made sure to cover and protect the floor and surrounding area of the fireplace. After the preliminary inspection, he gave me a detailed report of the condition of my chimney - which was in bad shape - and the steps that needed to be taken to get it repaired. While we can only afford the sweep right now, we will definitely use them to repair our chimney. James was so courteous and really took the time to explain what had happened to the chimney, the course of action and even some different options. Would highly recommend this company.

They did a fine cleaning job. However, It would have been nice if they wore booties on my brand new flooring and living room carpet. They said they have booties but they're dirty. Instead they threw a dirty blanket on the rug. They are not the cleanest chimney sweeps I've ever had. They quoted me a price on an installed gas log set ($350) and a price on just labor to install the set ($95-$120). When I called the main number to inquire about the set, it was not at all similar to the set I was quoted - less logs etc. Also just labor would be $150. They should get their story straight.

Office was very helpful in resolving some technical issues on the correct sealing and venting of the stove.

Initially called Fiddler On The Roof because I saw a coupon for $99 for chimney sweep and inspection on Angie's list while looking for a company to sweep/ inspect my fireplace. Before I could call and schedule an appointment, they called me, Amanda was very accommodating with my time schedule and told me the name of the person who would do the sweep/inspection. James was punctual, professional and extremely informative. He explained everything to me as he went about his work. He answered all my questions and took a video of the inside of my fireplace to show me where future work need to be done. He went on the roof and did an exterior inspection. He repositioned my gas fire logs and grate (not part of the deal) when I told him I had experienced seeing soot when I previously used the fireplace. James went over all the safety issues with me and gave suggestions that I really appreciated. There was no pressure to do additional work ......but, he did give me requested estimates. James also gave me web site to access when I told him I wanted to replace my fireplace enclosure and took the measurements for me. I was very impressed with James' knowledge, cleanliness and efficiency. I also received a follow-up e mail from Amanda with estimates of recommended work. I do intend to use this company again and highly recommend them.

I received a call the night before the scheduled inspection confirming the time. On the morning of the visit Enrique, who performed the inspection, called to say that he would arrive shortly. The inspection took place at the earlier part of the time "window." He arrived, told us what he would be doing, and got to work! He secured the area around the chimney with a dropcloth. After he finished inspecting he reported that our chimney had some creosote build up. He receommended a couple of different ways for removing the creosote, and suggested which one would be best for the amount of usage our fireplace gets. When he left, he promised to send some written information and/or have the office contact us to set up the next appointment.

When he was here he informed us that there was structural damage to the chimney and advised us not to use it. We have not had it repaired yet, we just haven't used the chimney or fireplace since then. It turned out that he wasn't able to complete the job so we ended up not hiring him. We would consider
