Fiddler On The Roof Chimney Service

I needed my chimney sealed and repaired and Jorge from fiddler did a good job. There was one hiccup when they completed the job the first time and I asked to look at the video to make sure all the cracks had been sealed. As it turned out, not all of them were sealed, so I asked them to go back up and finish the job. They needed to come back several times to finish but they were diligent to finish completely.

Came to house with short notice, we made offer for purchase same day as inspection. James came and did the inspection. Made sure to put down materials to keep the area clean. Helped greatly in our decision!

Very professional company - from customer service and dispatcher to installer. James (installer) was extremely polite and very knowledgeable. He explained the process in advance and kept me informed as the work progressed. He was punctual and cleaned up after the work was complete. We have two fireplaces (two back to back flues in separate rooms going up the same chimney stack). The company provided a larger spark arrester (28" X 28") for the price of a smaller model (24" X 24"). I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs chimney services.

Frank did a very good job cleaning out the chimney and did what he was hired to do; he is very pleasant, clean, polite, and punctual.

The inspector was very polite but wasn't able to clearly communicate his findings and recommendations to me. The inspector mentioned a few relatively minor issues, and I left the appointment thinking that the chimney was in good shape. Many days later I received a typed report that recommended modifications that would cost $6,000-8,000 and require the removal of windows from a wall. This was very alarming, so I sought the advice of two other experts. They told me that the chimney was constructed using standard construction procedures and that the recommended modifications were not necessary.

Great experience! I have two brick fireplaces that share one chimney. Called Fiddlers on the Roof to determine whether I needed to buy two Big Deals. They recommended I buy just one for the most-used fireplace and let the technician determine whether a second Big Deal was needed. James called during the agreed-upon appointment window to say he was about 30 minutes out. He arrived on time and inspected both fireplaces and determined a second Big Deal was not needed. He showed me photos of exactly what he found, quoted reasonable prices for the expected repairs and was able to complete them during the initial visit. He repaired cracks in the firebox back wall, the chimney above the roof and the chimney "crown" shared by both fireplaces. We have a white couch very near the cleaned fireplace. I asked twice if I should move it away. James assured me it wasn't necessary and he was correct. He did the entire job without a bit of soot or ash anywhere. The fireplace was cleaner than when he started.

We purchased the big deal to have our chimney cleaned and inspected. Scheduled our appointment for a Saturday between 8 - Noon. We received a call from the tech Frank around 10:30 a.m. letting us know he was on his way and would be arriving in approx. 20 mins. Frank arrived, set up was fast and he got right to work. Couldn't believe all the soot that came out from a fireplace that I only use a few times a year. Frank was great! After he cleaned the chimney he performed the inspection and even took a picture of the inside of the flue to show us some creosote build up. During the inspection he found a crack in the bottom panel insert and gave us a quote on how much it would cost to have it fixed. No sales pressure. Frank explained everything to us and answered all of our questions. I highly recommend Frank and will most certainly be using him in the future.

I think they were fine, but it’s been several years. I don’t recall any issues.

Frank came right on time and was very efficient. He performed the work and gave me a very detailed account of what was done. The office staff was also very easy to work with. I would highly recommend him.

FABULOUS! They wee professional, prompt, and demonstrated the upmost integrity! They completed the cleaning and scoping of the fireplace and made several recommendations. The tech identified the items that needed immediate attention and the items that could be put off for a later time. We will be using them for repairs and future regular maintenance. Their pricing is the same whether or not your house is $200,000 or $2,000,000!

I am a contractor myself but I know nothing about chimneys. I do water filtration. I just wanted to make sure my chimney was safe because i burn light wood and sometimes I use gas. I really do love a working fireplace. I called and made an appointment and the response was immediate. I made an appointment and Enrique with an assistant showed up at the agreed time and place. They were both very respectful of the property. I expected a big mess. I did not get one. Honesty is very important to me and the repairs were very minor. I highly record this company.

Two crew members arrived timely and were very professional and friendly. They set up blankets in front of the fireplace and sealed it off to keep as much mess as possible inside the fireplace. The chimney probably hadn't been cleaned in years (we had recently purchased the house and many aspects had been neglected, including the fireplace) so there was quite a bit of soot. In spite of that, there was very little that escaped the plastic covering and got into the house (they have to cut a hole for the vacuum to go into the fireplace, so some can get out, but was easily vacuumed up. Just be extra careful if you have light furniture, which we did not). Overall the service was worth the cost and they did a very good job cleaning up and explaining the issues with the chimney (which I had somewhat expected). I seem to remember it taking about 1.5 to 2 hours, so for $209 I thought it was worth the cost with the full inspection. They followed up within a day or so with a written estimate to repair/replace the issues. That estimate was very expensive and even if it had been less it likely wouldn't have been worth replacing the entire fireplace and flu system, so we didn't proceed with extra work, but at least they did what they said they would do and provided me with the information timely so that I could decide. They didn't pressure me at all to say "you absolutely have to do this." Just provided the info and reasoning why the work needed to be done if I wanted it and left it up to me. Very happy with the service and professionalism of the crew and the overall cost. If I buy a house with a fireplace in the future I will definitely get them to perform another cleaning/inspection and sweeps on a regular basis.

Estimate for tuck pointing - one man and 2-3 hours of work - was $460. I was told $460 was the standard service rate for this job regardless of the time spent on the repair. $230/hr for tuck pointing? No thanks. Enrique, the service technician, was very pleasant and professional.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was excellent. He was a super nice guy. I needed him right away and he was there; it was amazing. There were no extra charges. We had just sold our house and the new owners wanted to know that everything was okay with the chimney, including the liner. He was very good. He was very polite and very informative. I learned a lot; it was like I went to school to learn about chimneys. The price was excellent. I would definitely use him again if I needed fireplace service.

Jorge and Ivan called ahead of arrival as asked and arrived on time. They were pleasant and knowledgeable. They explained the causes and corrections of problems we were having and gave us a detailed estimate for recommended repairs. We are considering getting further estimates of recommended repairs as they are costly.

James was the service technician sent out to perform chimney service. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and thorough. He spent the time to explain code to me and what options were available to fix my fireplace, helped me explore my options. Enrique and Andrew showed up on time and they were very professional, friendly and cool. They reassured me about the condition of our fireplaces. They offered some suggestions about maintenance and minor repairs that could be done in the future but I felt no pressure to spend more than was necessary. I will definitely call them in the future for cleanings and any repairs that are necessary. I highly recommend them. It is actually the second time I have used fiddler on the roof and both times I was very pleased.

I ordered the $99 Angie's List Deal for a chimney sweep and safety inspection on March 20th. I received an email from Fiddler on the Roof the following day. I called them back and scheduled the chimney sweep for today, April 5th. I forget the woman's name that I set the appointment with, but she was very helpful. I had never had my chimney swept (I have owned my home for 2 years and not used the fireplace) and had a bunch of questions. She answered them without hesitation. Yesterday, I received a call reminding me that I had scheduled my service. This morning, James, called just after 8am to say he was on his way and gave me an accurate time estimate for his arrival. James was TOP NOTCH. First, he acknowledged my dogs and explained that he would be very careful about coming in and out with the dogs. I really appreciated that. He explained the process of sweeping the chimney and then got to work. Each step of the way, he explained what he was doing. I was curious and asked him many questions. He was patient and explained everything in a very easy to understand way. When he did the inspection, he stopped the camera to show me several areas of concern. I knew that the chimney needed work and was not usable, when I purchased the house. I knew absolutely nothing about chimneys and chimney care, but now I feel l could educate others on some basics. I really appreciated James' care, friendliness, education, and his work. I have nothing to compare this service to, since I've never hired a chimney sweep before, but I am extremely happy with the job and would definitely use them again without hesitation.

We just underwent extensive remodel on a previously neglected home purchase. The technician arrived on time and reviewed our options. His air duct cleaning cost came in less than the estimate, as he relayed the air ducts were clean and did not need extensive work. He also identified some issues with the fireplace which required repair. We felt that Omar was competent and we were pleased he discovered the safety issues with the fireplace.

Frank Zavala and his partner were very accommodating to my schedule. When they arrived they came in and checked out the location. They saw that I had cats and advised they were pet friendly and made sure the door was closed securely so cats would not get out. They went right to work, put down a blanket to protect the floor. Frank's partner went up on the roof and checked out the exterior of the chimney while Frank went to work setting up the camera for the interior inspection. My fireplace chimney was quite clean (I don't use it on a regular basis) and didn't need work. However there were definite interior repairs that were needed- mainly from age. My chimney is 63 years old. Frank provided printed materials for me to read on what could be done. He also provided a quote on each of the various items needed and advised which were the most important and which could wait. Cleanup was quick, and they were on their way. I am interested in having them do at least some of the repairs and will be contacting them again regarding that.

Pleased with the service, cleanliness, and honesty regarding need for repairs. Prior company recommended repairs that were unnecessary.
